Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am your dungeon master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Tomo!
[00:00:17] Speaker B: I am playing Steve Tehuman, Level 5 Gloomstalker Ranger Fighter, Level 2, Rogue, Level 1. I have an owl.
Brandon!
[00:00:29] Speaker C: I am Ekurook Punschlaye, Level 8 Blood Hunter, half orc. And I have breast enhancements.
Braeden!
[00:00:40] Speaker D: Hey, I'm Braeden. I play Beleg Degar, half elf, Hexblade warlock, level eight.
Eric!
[00:00:48] Speaker E: I'm Eric. I play Dr. Zozo Brightfeather, a level eight Arakocra artificer.
[00:00:54] Speaker A: And last but not least, Caleb!
[00:00:59] Speaker F: Domo Arigato... I am the construct, Kaitoa Tata.
I am a level 8 warforged barbarian.
[00:01:10] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blaggards. Beleg is revived in time to aid the party as they engage with three score swarms of ravens. But despite his and the others efforts, it is a losing battle.
And after almost losing the good Dr. Zozo to the beaks, they shut the door to the King Irony Tower, leaving only plaintive whistles for help amongst the chaotic cawing.
[00:01:47] Speaker B: It was bird on bird crime.
[00:01:53] Speaker F: Beak on beak action.
[00:01:55] Speaker A: Bird on bird crime is rampant in Polb. And as the party waits on the tower doorstep, they are immediately assailed by two charmed knights. And they are immediately felled by two flying daggers.
Then, just as the cackling and cawing from behind the door subsides and five more knights approach, Steve elects to go into trance and trace the whereabouts of Emis, revealing to Beleg where he and Kaitoa should transport a nearest point within the castle walls. Nafre's hidden staircase.
So now, with the warlock the barbarian leading the way, Kaitoa shifts huge stones that cover the entrance to a narrow tunnel leading downwards, where they pursue the trail of their quarry. Then, just as they reach a shallow pool, you guys begin to remember what happens. Then they discover their prey.
[00:03:13] Speaker D: Rook.
[00:03:14] Speaker A: Steve and Zozo and Oldfoot come upon a strange scene.
Kaidoa and Beleg trading blows.
Rook quickly reduces what is left of the invisible foe to a charred husk.
Beleg shares a revelation about Leah and a connection perhaps to the former emissary. Then, as the five adventurers pick at the body like crows on carrion, they appeal to the identification skills of Zozo, enter into an hour of long rest beneath Bergen's gate here. And the party wonders what next in their shared story.
[00:04:19] Speaker F: Next, indeed.
[00:04:21] Speaker C: We're taking a short rest, right?
[00:04:24] Speaker F: I believe we're in mint.
Yeah. Short rest.
[00:04:30] Speaker B: We gotta Go save Mickey.
[00:04:32] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: I need a map.
[00:04:38] Speaker D: A map?
[00:04:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
While we're short resting, Steve is racking his brain as to how to get to the Brass Towers as quickly as possible.
[00:04:50] Speaker D: Were we not gonna go long rest? That seemed to be everybody's desire at the end of last session.
[00:04:57] Speaker B: Well, it all depends, I guess, on how we. How we secure travel. I mean, if we're traveling, I assume traveling by boat, there's gonna be plenty of time to long rest.
[00:05:07] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:05:08] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:05:09] Speaker B: Rook definitely wants to get a long.
[00:05:11] Speaker C: Rest in before any more battle.
[00:05:14] Speaker B: Steve does too.
[00:05:15] Speaker E: I think.
[00:05:15] Speaker B: I think we're all pretty taxed out as far as far as our spells and stuff are concerned.
[00:05:21] Speaker D: But I'm good now for long or short resting.
[00:05:25] Speaker B: Yeah, but everyone else.
[00:05:28] Speaker D: Cares.
[00:05:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm out of rages.
[00:05:33] Speaker B: So yeah, Steve's out of spells.
[00:05:37] Speaker F: I'm good for hit points, but yeah, I definitely need my rages.
[00:05:42] Speaker D: Kicking ass and making rages. And I'm all out of rages.
[00:05:46] Speaker A: I'm all out of rages.
So.
[00:05:50] Speaker F: Good man.
[00:05:51] Speaker A: Party.
[00:05:52] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:05:53] Speaker A: Long rest, One hour rest ends. That was definitely the initial discussion there. So, you know, you've either taken one eighth of a long rest or there is, oh, there is a bit of a stench of garbage.
[00:06:08] Speaker D: Burning garbage. Burning flesh, garbage.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: Well, not so much the charred husk of the emissary, but rather you are in a subterranean, you know, somewhat sewer like system here. And after the first hour, yeah, the stench is. Is not pleasant. So it would be the mid afternoon, if you guys did want to long rest, you would then be leaving your little hiding spot at quite late in the evening, well after dark. Is that indeed what the party wants to do?
[00:06:43] Speaker E: I think I would rather leave the sewers.
[00:06:46] Speaker B: Yeah, we're not gonna stay in the sewers for a long rest for sure.
[00:06:50] Speaker D: So we'll leave the sewers till we come out to the water.
[00:06:55] Speaker A: Yeah, before the long rest, a little sewage starts to flow past the party in that kind of stagnant pool.
[00:07:05] Speaker B: Yeah, Steve's good for getting out of here.
[00:07:09] Speaker D: Yeah, let's keep falling and walking all the way to the water and then see if we can hear some.
[00:07:14] Speaker B: He's not super stoked about being around people. I think he's less stoked about being around people's shit.
[00:07:22] Speaker F: I knit a little boat and put a turd in it, watch it sail down.
[00:07:29] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you would notice that the little turd boat is flowing towards the docks, or rather the ocean. And Dr. Zozo, I have sent you a identification message about the rod that you Picked off the carcass of the emissary and friends and adventures.
Are you leaving? It is really just a little pile of sort of white bones and immolated flesh here. Oh, hey, look. The rats are starting to come out. But otherwise, you know. You stripped her of her brown cloak. She does have, like, light leather armor on underneath. Oh, there's actually a breastplate, but no otherwise. Are you leaving this pool?
[00:08:19] Speaker F: Did anyone take the breastplate?
[00:08:22] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:08:23] Speaker A: I. I think we should leave.
[00:08:25] Speaker F: No trace.
Yeah, other than bones, there should be nothing left.
[00:08:31] Speaker B: Let's just get this corpse butt naked.
[00:08:33] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:08:38] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:08:39] Speaker A: Body duty indeed. What are you doing? Magical physical. What are we doing here?
[00:08:44] Speaker C: I'm rolling my last two hit die to get some health back.
[00:08:50] Speaker D: Get rid of the body. I'll just, like, use a can trip cast bonfire on it until it's just ash.
[00:08:58] Speaker E: Did somebody take the. The breastplate off at first.
That's when we want.
[00:09:03] Speaker D: Okay, yeah, you want the breastplate. Oh, did Steve take it?
[00:09:06] Speaker B: No, we just meant that we.
[00:09:09] Speaker E: We.
[00:09:09] Speaker A: Did you tell it.
[00:09:09] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah, I took it.
[00:09:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Whoever has taken it off.
[00:09:14] Speaker F: I took it.
[00:09:15] Speaker A: I took it. A little bit of ouchie, ouchie damage.
[00:09:20] Speaker F: Yeah, I will take it. I am sure my metal hands can take it.
[00:09:26] Speaker A: Well, friends and adventurers, then you can determine way down at the end of this tunnel, there are some light shafts and streams coming down from above. So, yes, back to Hugo Castle. Here is the stagnant pool. And then towards the docks.
And yes, now there's just a small pile of ash. And the bones, though, have not. Have not been destroyed.
[00:09:51] Speaker E: Hmm.
[00:09:53] Speaker D: Bring out the mortar and pestle.
[00:09:57] Speaker F: Can we kick them into the river so they're not just, like, laying on the curb here?
Scatter them about.
[00:10:05] Speaker D: Shred them like credit cards.
[00:10:07] Speaker B: All right, so we need a boat. We need a new pickle.
[00:10:11] Speaker C: We need a new pickle.
[00:10:12] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:10:13] Speaker D: But I'm sure we can find one if we go to the docks.
[00:10:16] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:10:17] Speaker E: Is boat the fastest way to get to the towers?
[00:10:22] Speaker B: Steve would assume so, because we do have to cross the sea. We have to cross the North Sea to get to Chosem, which is on Tonwen.
Short of traveling northeast by.
By way of horse, there is potentially.
[00:10:40] Speaker F: A dimension door somewhere in the King.
[00:10:45] Speaker E: I think that. I think it was a scroll that got used up.
[00:10:47] Speaker B: They used these. Yeah, they used a scroll.
[00:10:50] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:10:50] Speaker E: That's why Emmaus had to run.
[00:10:54] Speaker D: It's been a while since we've been on the sea.
[00:10:56] Speaker B: Our last. Our last contact, truly here is Lieutenant Dan, Lieutenant Dor.
[00:11:04] Speaker D: Dorophill.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: And I don't know if he's got any sort of magic inclination we may have to just take a boat.
[00:11:12] Speaker F: I don't really want to go back into the city. Yeah, I say we hit the seas and get the fuck out of here.
[00:11:18] Speaker C: Should we try to find the boat that, yeah, Emmaus was going for or just take whatever.
[00:11:23] Speaker D: Well, let's see what we see when we get out there.
[00:11:26] Speaker C: Quartermaster has a boat at least.
[00:11:28] Speaker B: Very, very, very least. Dorothy has an idea of us, of how to get a fast boat.
[00:11:33] Speaker D: Do you want to go back and see Dorafil?
[00:11:35] Speaker E: Then?
[00:11:36] Speaker B: We should probably tell him that we're. We're going to cost him.
[00:11:40] Speaker F: Can we send Stolas with a note and so we don't have to like, trek through town and pose ourselves well.
[00:11:49] Speaker B: I mean, do we want to find out, like, if he knows anyone who can get us a good boat?
[00:11:54] Speaker D: I think we should just go to the docks, see what we see there and then.
[00:11:59] Speaker C: Yeah, I think Belling's got enough money for us to buy a boat.
[00:12:03] Speaker F: My fear is that we go back in this town and we just get like, attacked by someone. Like, obviously, like town isn't a safe place for us right now.
[00:12:14] Speaker C: Well, we did kill Emma's who kind of had everybody in a trance, right?
[00:12:20] Speaker D: We don't know. We haven't been back outside yet.
[00:12:22] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:12:23] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:12:23] Speaker F: And there's a ton of crows.
[00:12:25] Speaker D: So let's go to the docks.
[00:12:28] Speaker F: Yeah, to the docks.
[00:12:32] Speaker A: Okay. As the bones, the Kaitoa kicks into the pool, make a little splash. And as the rats scurry away confounded by Beleg's impromptu cremation.
Feel like we're gonna regret that.
You walk down the path here, and it's interesting. As you get closer and closer to the docks, it. It sounds like there's some bell coming from above ground. And now you actually reach a tower that is just.
[00:13:06] Speaker F: Bring out your dead.
[00:13:09] Speaker D: I'm not dead yet.
[00:13:11] Speaker F: Bring out your dead.
[00:13:13] Speaker D: I think I'll go for a walk.
[00:13:15] Speaker F: I'm sorry, I had to.
[00:13:18] Speaker A: As you walk along, this narrow path starts to open a little bit and it is following along the city walls. Now it seems to terminate at a beachfront tower. And there is a small aperture here where you guys can crawl out. I mean, Kaitoa, you with your exoskeleton again. You're barely fitting through here. But you pop out amongst the surf and amongst the waves.
Oh, and a cork pops.
[00:13:49] Speaker B: Someone's getting.
[00:13:50] Speaker D: We got a gusher.
[00:13:52] Speaker C: I think that's Kaito is squeezing through.
[00:13:54] Speaker D: The hole It's Ken.
[00:14:00] Speaker F: It was.
He caught wind.
[00:14:05] Speaker A: And there you are on the shores of the inlet of Match, the inlet of Polb. You can see all the way out to Match Point, which is facing towards Lantan. And then yes, up northwards around the northwestern tip of the continent and then passing through the half orcish seas. You would be up to Kazum in the most northern island past the North Sea. As Steve correctly noted, the cliff city dominated by the brass towers.
[00:14:41] Speaker D: Match Point. Now I can't stop thinking about Scarlett Johansson.
[00:14:47] Speaker C: We see any docks or anything?
[00:14:50] Speaker A: Rook, you asked, can you see the docks? There are three docks. There's the north docks which you have exited directly at. There are the merchant docks which are around to the other side of the beach tower. And you see that these have a lot of ships that are stowed and not manned at all. Because it is late in the afternoon, there's not much activity there. In the north docks, there seems to be quite a lot of running around and activity. There are potentially 100 to 200 boats spread between the three docks. One of them clearly has vessels like ferry vessels and commercial vessels.
And then you look south to the Grand Pier and then you would look way down to where you first docked at the old south docks in South Polby. But of course that is on the other side of the river Polba. So here you are, folks, and still the waves crashing about your feet. And boy, is there commotion in the streets up near you above boardwalk and above the beach. And boy, is there a running around and almost a panic on the north docks.
[00:16:09] Speaker D: Do we see anything Beleg.
[00:16:12] Speaker A: You know, I want everybody to roll perception. Why don't you lead the way.
[00:16:18] Speaker F: Robin? Can I use my eagle vision to maybe see a little farther?
[00:16:23] Speaker A: What in particular would you be looking at.
[00:16:28] Speaker F: To see? I know kind of like where the crowd is looking at and maybe facial expressions like, are they scared? Are they happy?
[00:16:36] Speaker A: You're zooming in. Okay, what has everybody got?
[00:16:39] Speaker E: I got a 16.
[00:16:41] Speaker B: 14.
[00:16:43] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:16:45] Speaker B: With a perception of plus 8. Steve got a 10.
[00:16:50] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:16:51] Speaker D: Bella got a 12.
[00:16:54] Speaker F: With my vision of 100ft. Do I roll advantage at all or.
[00:16:58] Speaker A: Can I. I will give you. I will give you an excellent RP description for the way you described it.
[00:17:05] Speaker F: Okay, I have a 14.
[00:17:07] Speaker A: Beautiful.
Well, you know, everybody met it, even Steve.
Everybody can see there are hundreds of wounded.
[00:17:19] Speaker D: Does it look like they've got beak wounds?
[00:17:22] Speaker F: Which way are they headed?
[00:17:23] Speaker A: And kaitoa. The expressions that you see as you zoom in are just that you see one third of the people are Wounded people. And Kaitoa, you even make out along the ferryman's dock. Your meat wagoneers, are they wounded?
Kaitoa, you can let them know that the meat wagoneers are doing splendidly.
[00:17:56] Speaker C: They're collecting.
[00:17:57] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:17:58] Speaker D: Yay.
[00:17:59] Speaker F: So are the people running to the docks? Are they running away from the city? Or are they just like.
[00:18:05] Speaker A: Well, let's see.
[00:18:06] Speaker F: People don't run around in circles.
[00:18:10] Speaker A: There are two groups of people. Some seem to be making to depart on their boats.
Including at the ferryman's dock, you see some ferries loading up. There are others rushing the wounded, you know, apparently into the north quarter.
[00:18:25] Speaker F: Is there anyone like, pointing up towards the sky or like fearing from above?
[00:18:31] Speaker A: No. And you notice a distinct lack of birds.
[00:18:36] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:18:36] Speaker D: Ah, the Hitchcockian times are over.
[00:18:40] Speaker A: I'm gonna.
[00:18:40] Speaker C: Yeah, I just gonna suggest that we go towards the merchant docks, because doesn't seem like there's anybody there. Pick out a boat and get rolling.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: Yeah, we can just probably steal a boat and all this commotion.
[00:18:52] Speaker D: Yeah, I like that.
[00:18:54] Speaker F: So, Robin using.
[00:18:55] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Where's that bell coming from?
[00:18:58] Speaker A: Well, that seems to be coming from the meat wagoneers. Why is there a small boy on the back of the wagon with a bell? Belle. Kaitoa. You know, you see all of this and then you know, Rook, as you guys direct yourselves out of the surf. Yes. There are three docks. There's the ferryman's dock and then two docks.
The higher end, Nobles ships.
[00:19:25] Speaker F: Can I kind of like scan the docks for a good, steady, fast ship?
[00:19:31] Speaker A: Yeah, certainly.
As Kaitoa, you see zooming in now further. And Kaitoa, kinda like the surf is whipping around your knees as you scan all three docks. Can you roll perception with advantage. And then the rest of the four of you, what are you doing here?
[00:19:51] Speaker D: I'm looking to see if I see any boats that have Lake Wizards Guild Signia, or any boats that would have doors big enough for a stone golem to get through.
[00:20:06] Speaker A: Ah, I see. Well, Beleg, you would know that the Wizards Guild employ, you know, no vessels or official ranks of people. It would be rare to see something like that. However, can you roll an intelligence?
[00:20:23] Speaker D: Unfortunately, that's 17 minus one. So 16.
[00:20:29] Speaker A: Oh, that's not bad at all. You sort of put together all the pieces that, of course, Nafre and that Noble, the purple robed noble. And you do notice that there is a small, sleek ship with purple sails docked and Kaitoa, what did you roll?
[00:20:51] Speaker F: 16.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: I see.
[00:20:52] Speaker F: I'm also gonna keep an eye out for the same emblem on the Twin towers broke this.
[00:21:00] Speaker A: This brass towers. Well, Kaitoa, you would probably. Brass towers not be familiar with this.
You know, you might think that you would see it on some sails of a ship, but that would be unlikely. However, you see two ships. You see one, one sleek fairy ship that looks like it could seat, you know, maybe 10 or so passengers and a crew of four or five. It is a half orcish looking ferry. And then there is a very nice looking sort of nobleman's yacht with purple sails. And these would be the two vessels that stand out to you. Beleg and Kaitoa, Zozo, Steven and Rookie. As you dash out of the surf. Now you are completely out. And now you would be, you know, facing two directions essentially towards the docks. And then you. To your left is the city of Polb. And there again are the meat wagoneers, just at the entrance to the ferryman's docks.
[00:22:02] Speaker B: Yes. Steve is interested in finding the fastest looking vessel and obviously one that the Orcish with. With our party, we don't need something that's too big for us.
[00:22:15] Speaker F: The orcish ferryman.
[00:22:17] Speaker E: Whoa.
[00:22:18] Speaker D: I wouldn't mind popping on that purple sailboat.
[00:22:21] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm gonna keep making my way towards the merchant's dock.
[00:22:26] Speaker F: Robin, how close are the meat wagon to the two boats that I spotted?
[00:22:34] Speaker A: Lords and masters, Let me introduce my son. He is better now.
This is young Malthus.
[00:22:46] Speaker F: Gentlemen, you look prosperous. What's happening in town?
[00:22:50] Speaker A: Indeed we are prosperous, yes. With your patronage, I have been able to afford tonics from the alchemist guild for young mouthers. Mike's are for the proud to see him join in the entrepreneurship. Hit that bell, Malthus. Yeah. Malthus appears to be about 4 years old.
And Malthus is sitting atop of the wagon. The wagon is one third full of bird carcasses and two thirds full of pulbians.
[00:23:27] Speaker B: Jeez.
Oh, shit.
Chicken strips and pork cutlets.
[00:23:33] Speaker G: Oh, yes.
King is going to be extra pleased here. This is great. Every bird in Pobe from sparrows to pigeons and ravens, all slice and dice.
[00:23:46] Speaker F: All right, well, that explains it.
Let's get the fuck out of here.
[00:23:52] Speaker E: Yeah, I definitely don't want to be seen.
[00:23:54] Speaker F: I don't think birds will feel popular. He said. So you're on the menu.
[00:24:01] Speaker B: Town is decidedly anti bird.
[00:24:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:24:06] Speaker D: There'S no fly zone.
[00:24:09] Speaker C: Purple sailboat.
[00:24:10] Speaker A: And go. The purple sailboat guys is sort of one dock down. And so you are right now at the sort of the ferryman's dock here, part of the north docks. So this is where official ferries and you know, well to do people. People who might actually buy travelers tickets will arrive in Polb and avoid South Poleby or any of the merchant docks. However, no, you'd have to go around to get to that purple boat. You're near these sort of fast orcish, half orcish looking ferry. And yet there does seem to be some people rushing up to the meat wagoneers with some. Oh, God.
There's bodies of two children coming up here.
[00:24:56] Speaker G: Is there a doctor?
The birds kill everyone.
[00:25:02] Speaker A: And there's a very distraught father and a mother. And there seems to be. They seem to have two. What are these dead beak to death children.
[00:25:14] Speaker F: Zozo, put your hood up.
And I say we take the orcish speedboat.
[00:25:24] Speaker B: Whichever one. Whichever one looks faster. I think.
[00:25:27] Speaker F: I don't think we want to share company on this boat. Let's take the smaller boat where we occupy most of the crew.
[00:25:34] Speaker E: Is that the.
[00:25:35] Speaker B: The orcish one?
[00:25:36] Speaker F: Is that the small. Yeah, the orcish one is the smaller one. The regal boat. The purple sails. We might have passengers. I don't think we want.
[00:25:45] Speaker D: I'm just curious to know what's on that boat.
[00:25:47] Speaker F: Yeah, I know.
[00:25:48] Speaker C: We don't have to take passengers.
[00:25:51] Speaker E: Are they definitely dead?
[00:25:54] Speaker F: But the bigger boat will take a.
[00:25:55] Speaker G: Crew to run swing at the bed.
[00:25:58] Speaker A: And Malthus atop the pile of bodies is able to, you know, mutter something. Zozo, can you roll a quick medicine on these two children?
[00:26:08] Speaker E: Okay, they're dead.
[00:26:11] Speaker A: There do seem to be.
[00:26:12] Speaker E: That's a 24.
[00:26:13] Speaker A: Oh, nice. Oh, wow.
There do not seem to be only the last remnants of the people on the docks.
[00:26:19] Speaker E: Right.
[00:26:20] Speaker A: Whoever has been carrying the wounded into the city is gone. And whoever has been loading up their vessels or boarding a ferry is also leaving. So, you know. Now, Zozo, as you analyze these two children, there is a girl and a boy and one of them party you recognize to be.
Oh, the one that is doing better is that young girl that keeps on bumping into Rookie.
It looks like through the heart.
[00:26:52] Speaker B: Beat through the heart.
[00:26:54] Speaker F: And yo. Too late.
[00:26:57] Speaker B: She's only mostly dead.
[00:27:00] Speaker A: Okay. And the other one is not doing so well. Zozo, you diagnosed this young boy. Okay, Toa, it's that young boy who drew the picture of you who noticed the party when you slipped out towards is.
And he holds a drawing in his hand of Kaitoa. And he looks like he has been.
[00:27:19] Speaker G: Beaked through the brain.
[00:27:22] Speaker A: Oh, geez.
[00:27:24] Speaker D: Oh, brain beacon.
[00:27:26] Speaker F: I hold the drawing against his open W to soak up the blood which.
[00:27:34] Speaker D: Which Side of the brain did he get decidedly less mathematic or decidedly less artistic?
[00:27:40] Speaker G: Can you save him?
[00:27:43] Speaker E: I'm gonna try to save them.
[00:27:45] Speaker F: Party. We're getting caught on the dogs.
We get out of here.
[00:27:50] Speaker C: This is keep making moves.
[00:27:54] Speaker A: Okay, Rook and Kaitoa, as you begin to look at that fairy Zozo, you're going to assess what's going on here. Well look, the. The parents put down the bodies onto the meat wagon and are looking at you for some guidance. But yeah, Kaitoa and Rook, you're gonna walk towards that. That ferry. And Rook, you recognize this ferry?
[00:28:19] Speaker F: Which one? I hope he recognizes the speedy Orcish one.
[00:28:24] Speaker C: Where do I know? Where do I recognize it from?
[00:28:26] Speaker A: This is Captain Flagon's north reach fairy. This is the same fairy captain that you traveled with to the island of Jack Tool and that you left the island kingdom of Ponchen on. And you see Captain Flagon right up there at the front with his flagon and he's swilling away.
He catches your eye, Rook. He's. He's looking at you.
[00:28:52] Speaker F: This is the small Orcish one, right?
[00:28:54] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:28:55] Speaker F: Yeah.
Thank God.
Shove the child aside.
[00:29:07] Speaker A: Who is Steve?
[00:29:08] Speaker C: I'm gonna walk up to Captain Flagon.
[00:29:10] Speaker A: And you're going to catch Captain Flagon's eyes. Okay, so Steve and Beleg Beleg. Boy, you are interested in that purple vessel ship. I mean is there anything you'd like to do right now? You could run around quickly to that ship while a miracle is being performed?
[00:29:25] Speaker D: Yeah, sure.
[00:29:25] Speaker A: Okay. You dash through the crowds, you push past Matthias Tobias and the Meat Wagoneers. And just as you're sort of rounding the corner to this more affluent looking dock here, there is the ship. You know, it's moored, it's tied up, there seems to be no activity going on. So we have a three way party split at the moment. Steve, where are you?
[00:29:48] Speaker B: I am just pulling my hood up and making myself as small as possible and getting over to that boat that was noticed.
[00:29:57] Speaker F: The Regal ship is most likely.
[00:30:02] Speaker C: The.
[00:30:02] Speaker F: Ship for surname who just killed.
Yeah, this is the.
[00:30:10] Speaker A: It's.
[00:30:11] Speaker F: That's why it's not leaving.
[00:30:13] Speaker C: Yeah, that's why I wanted to take it. But I'm gonna go check out this. See if we can catch your eye with Captain Flagon.
[00:30:19] Speaker F: We can take both.
[00:30:23] Speaker B: I think one's enough.
[00:30:26] Speaker A: Okay, I'm splitting you guys three ways. Green is going to be Rook and Kaitoa on heading down the ferryman's dock. And then we're going to have Zozo we're going to keep with you right here. Right here where the Meat Wagoneers and where they're still in view of the street city of Polb. And then Beleg, Light blue, you've just run down here to the purple ship. And then, Steve, are you keeping sort of close eye on zozo's position?
[00:31:00] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, whoever's making the most waves, Steve is staying away from and is letting them take the.
Take the. Take the most notice and just kind of doing his. His, his thing.
[00:31:14] Speaker F: Dude, let's take both boats.
[00:31:17] Speaker B: I'm just waiting to see what the move is, and then I will follow up.
[00:31:22] Speaker A: So, zozo, we will start with you. You are presented with a blubbering mother and a father who's sort of looking in his change purse and two dead children.
[00:31:34] Speaker E: Okay.
I am going to do what I can to try and save them.
[00:31:42] Speaker A: Okay. They appear to be freshly beaked to death. This must have happened within the last hour.
[00:31:49] Speaker E: Okay.
I'll try to cast cure wounds on one of them.
[00:31:56] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:31:57] Speaker E: All right.
See, I could cast it at second.
[00:32:01] Speaker F: Hey, toy, you're not burning spell slots.
[00:32:07] Speaker E: I think I'm gonna. I'm gonna just do it at first.
[00:32:09] Speaker A: First level. Okay. On the little girl with the heart stab or on the little boy with the beak brain?
[00:32:19] Speaker F: The little boy's got a hand drawn soaker pad on his head, so he's good.
[00:32:27] Speaker E: So Creature Touch regains number of hit points equal to 1d8, plus my spell casting. So that's five. And four is nine hit points of healing if it works.
[00:32:44] Speaker A: Okay. The little girl sputters a whole bunch of blood and exclaims it's the end of the world.
And it looks like she has some chance at survival. And the mother and father, like, jump back and there she is on top of the pile of dead bodies.
It looks like there's been a successful combination of your magics here and little vitality of this girl. Not so.
Not so great looking as you look at the boy. Ooh. What are you doing next, bud?
[00:33:26] Speaker F: I pat him on the head.
[00:33:31] Speaker E: Is she. If I.
Is she looking like she's stable or should I.
Does it look like she's gonna need attention before moving on?
[00:33:42] Speaker A: This child has been stabilized, but will certainly need to be, you know, rushed somewhere.
[00:33:49] Speaker E: Mm.
I am going to try a healing draft on the little boy.
[00:33:58] Speaker A: Okay, you're gonna try and slam that into birdbrain. Well there.
[00:34:02] Speaker E: I think I'm gonna try applying it directly.
[00:34:06] Speaker B: Just drop it right into his brain.
[00:34:08] Speaker A: Yeah. Dump it, right?
[00:34:09] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:34:10] Speaker E: How Chemical applied directly to the forehead.
[00:34:13] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:34:13] Speaker A: Are glowing purple. And then we're gonna cut quickly then. Is that just something you do by the way, without that brew?
[00:34:21] Speaker F: Yeah, I love like a dissolving tablet applied directly to the brain.
Just like.
[00:34:32] Speaker A: Zozo. What was your. The result of your draft, your healing.
[00:34:35] Speaker E: Draft. 13 points of healing.
[00:34:38] Speaker A: Okay. I'm afraid the draft has just gone right through the. You know, the head wound here out his mouth. And what you're dealing with is a cadaver.
[00:34:52] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:34:53] Speaker A: And whereas the girl, you know, had sort of rolled to restore her vitality in that same moment, you know, the boy expired.
[00:35:05] Speaker B: Chuck him. Chuck him into the ocean. This kid is dead.
[00:35:09] Speaker F: No, the meat wagon will actually get money from that.
[00:35:12] Speaker A: So what I do a quick bandage.
[00:35:16] Speaker E: I quickly bandage up the girl and give them a little vial and say give this to her in the morning.
[00:35:23] Speaker G: You bird woman doctor, it is a miracle. Praise.
[00:35:27] Speaker D: She presents a pass.
[00:35:29] Speaker G: Praise Jepta.
[00:35:33] Speaker A: And there the meat wagoneers, you know, turn around and they go back into.
[00:35:42] Speaker E: All birds aren't bad.
[00:35:47] Speaker F: Just the ones with beaks.
Oh wait.
[00:35:54] Speaker D: Good episode title.
[00:35:55] Speaker F: All birds aren't Bad.
[00:35:58] Speaker A: Kaitoa. There is Captain Flagon there waving you down onto the gangplank. I mean there's just like a four foot gangplank and he's waving you on.
[00:36:15] Speaker F: Can I see Beleg?
[00:36:17] Speaker A: Yeah, you see him peering onto the purple sailed boat.
Can I give a little toot?
[00:36:26] Speaker E: For sure.
[00:36:27] Speaker A: Bellik, can I get you roll a preemptive investigation on this boat?
Yep.
[00:36:36] Speaker F: Can I give him my inspiration?
[00:36:40] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:36:41] Speaker D: I'll take it again.
[00:36:42] Speaker F: Yeah.
Well, based on I want him to see what he can about the boat. But also I also like want him to. If he needs to hop that boat. I want to say like using hand gestures.
[00:36:58] Speaker C: I've got this. I've got the stone of near speech with them. So you can. We can use that.
[00:37:03] Speaker F: Well, I'll give him inspiration to inspect that boat. But sweet also like we'll like hop, hop on that boat.
[00:37:11] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:37:12] Speaker A: Okay. So Belak, you have received the message. You know, two fold over once by rook giving you a little radio buzz in your pocket. And then also there is Kaito. What did you roll with your help or your inspiration?
[00:37:27] Speaker E: Roll.
[00:37:29] Speaker D: 15, 13 plus 2.
[00:37:31] Speaker A: Okay. Yes. This boat seems to be unmanned. There is a clean deck. There is a small little structure at the back above deck there are two masts. This is a very well polished noble person's boat. Beyond that there's nothing evident about it.
That would suggest Wizards guild.
It certainly suggests nobility and you do think back to that purple noble that interrogated you after the battle of Pulba Plaza.
[00:38:15] Speaker D: I'm gonna hop on.
[00:38:17] Speaker A: Okay, as you hop on, you will note that this is secured to the fore and to the aft to the dock here. And now, as you look back at Kaitoa, Kaitoa is like furiously nodding.
[00:38:31] Speaker F: Yeah, I'm untying all the ropes and I'm on the dock and I'm like holding the orchid boat waiting for everyone to get on.
[00:38:40] Speaker B: Have we are committing to this purple sailboat? Is that it?
[00:38:43] Speaker A: We haven't.
[00:38:45] Speaker C: We haven't talked for the captain yet.
[00:38:50] Speaker F: Well, I'm starting to untie the Orcish boat. Being like, we're setting sail on this boat.
[00:38:57] Speaker B: I'm going to hop on the boat with Beleg.
[00:39:01] Speaker A: Well, good thing, because Beleg, guess what your inspection revealed now that you've jumped on the boat and you look at that small structure above deck.
What a lock.
[00:39:13] Speaker D: Hey, Stevie.
[00:39:16] Speaker A: And so, Steve, you have chosen the purple ship and you run down across the second dock. And now you have joined Beleg. And then Zozo, Your healing arts have been performed. The wagon has turned away. And now there's a choice before you. Kaitoa and Rook have gone aboard this half Orcish North Reach ferry. And then the sailed vessel is seeming to be manned by the half elf and the human Ranger. And of course, you could fly onto either of these things.
[00:39:49] Speaker E: I'm gonna join Belly and Steve. I think they probably need. If we're gonna take both, then they'll probably need more people to. To crew it.
[00:39:59] Speaker A: Okay, well then, friends and adventurers, what do you do now? As there are, you know, no dock hands to help you. But now, like everybody getting on the ferry, he's still saying.
[00:40:14] Speaker G: Help me unlock the slope, please.
[00:40:18] Speaker F: Rook, you talk to the captain. I'm gonna start riding the boat.
[00:40:23] Speaker D: Yeah, this one we think we're rid of, Doug, and we'll be able to understand everybody.
[00:40:30] Speaker C: That was the plan. I was gonna go to him. Yeah, I'm gonna go up to the captain's 10 silver.
[00:40:37] Speaker G: 10 silver, my lord.
[00:40:40] Speaker C: I'm gonna hand him 10 silver and say, this is a private voyage. Let's get on it.
[00:40:46] Speaker A: Oh, your servant construct as well will rise with you.
[00:40:51] Speaker G: Only 10 filled with for you, my lord.
[00:40:54] Speaker C: Yep, I hand him the 10 silver and we're heading. We're heading on a private voyage here.
[00:41:00] Speaker G: Well, I'm sure you are. Here, let me just check the passenger manifest here.
[00:41:06] Speaker A: And he goes through a large motion of scanning the empty Ferry and checking off his empty list.
[00:41:15] Speaker F: I'm already like setting sail and looking at both of you.
[00:41:19] Speaker A: You know Kaitoa, as you come in the cabin and you've helped push off here, the wind takes the sails and he's looking both of you in the eyes. You half orc rook and you ancient construct. And he looks at his list and says.
[00:41:39] Speaker G: Just for you my lord. What shall I write on the LED pair?
[00:41:44] Speaker C: Nothing.
[00:41:45] Speaker G: Very well.
[00:41:47] Speaker A: And he scrolls an X.
You have been joined by Steve and Zozo kind of swoops over onto the deck as well. It is a. A very nice lock with like inlaid ivory. Steve.
[00:42:05] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:42:06] Speaker D: Well Steve takes a look at the dock. If I can get out of like line of sight from the docks even though there aren't really any people around, I'd like to change my appearance and, and look basically just change my, my outfit to match the sails, the purple and then go and start untying the.
[00:42:27] Speaker A: Boat very high like hooded.
[00:42:30] Speaker F: A hooded purple.
[00:42:32] Speaker A: You, you snap your fingers.
[00:42:36] Speaker B: I Steve is going to casts minor illusion and I am going to basically cast it like it looks like the, the bottom half of the door of the boat. So if anyone's looking from, from, from the angle of the docks it just looks like I'm right there.
[00:43:00] Speaker A: Yeah, very clever use. This is again the party using and leveraging this active camouflage and I love it.
[00:43:08] Speaker F: So you cast that the Japanese shade structure.
[00:43:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
What are you using? And then yeah this, this boat is. Is a fair bit larger than the little half orcish fairy. It's got two masts. It looks like it has the above deck sort of superstructure and then below it must have you know several different chambers. But yeah. What are you using to break in here and then beleg as you look out towards pole. But it's true. There aren't very many people left on the dock. And you're looking nice in that purple doublet.
[00:43:39] Speaker D: Oh yeah. Start untying the moorings.
[00:43:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:43:44] Speaker B: I mean I guess even if it's like making a five foot tall, I don't know box or crate. Anyway there's something in front of me so if it's facing the docks, if anyone's looking at me from the docks they see a crate now front where.
[00:44:00] Speaker A: Roll a you know a lock picking sleight of hand.
[00:44:04] Speaker B: I will yeah I will pick the lock with my tools. With my tools. With my tools.
[00:44:13] Speaker E: I stand over Steve's shoulder just like ooh watching and pointing out like oh yeah. It's this kind of mechanism.
[00:44:22] Speaker A: You will notice There's a lot of brass.
[00:44:26] Speaker B: That is a 27.
[00:44:28] Speaker A: Oh wow. Okay.
Well a brass lock is no match for your lock picking skills. And it immediately pops open. The small gnomish pick just seemed to be perfect for this lock. And yes, look at the gaskets around the little window portholes. Boy, that is nice glazed glass. And as you guys open up this ornate door, you enter into the captain's chamber. You know there is a nice wheel. It seems like you steer this vessel from the inside. There's a small staircase down to what must be a lower deck. It is empty. It is quiet nice.
[00:45:10] Speaker B: All right, sweet.
[00:45:12] Speaker F: Have you guys set sail yet?
[00:45:14] Speaker D: I've untied the moorings.
What would we have to do to set sail?
[00:45:20] Speaker B: Are there any like personal affects or like anything showing sort of the.
The lifestyles of the people that that own this boat?
[00:45:31] Speaker A: Well, let's see. Priorities. Beleg in your hand you hear the voice of Kaitoa. You've Kaitoa, you've grabbed the stone of farce or near speech from rook as you guys sail away with captain and flag it. Yeah, we're already come sail away and Kaito is like have you guys set sail yet? So the answer is Steve, you can either get this boat going or you can start inspecting the boat.
[00:45:55] Speaker D: Let's get it going.
[00:45:58] Speaker A: Beleg as you look back and you've just untied the four and now you've untied the the aft there.
As you three look around there is a person running down the docks at full speed towards you.
[00:46:14] Speaker D: Let's try and get this thing in the water.
Well okay, moving.
[00:46:18] Speaker A: Can everybody roll a. Let's roll a survival. Steve and Zozo and Eleg.
21.
[00:46:28] Speaker B: Okay, that's a 15.
[00:46:31] Speaker A: Okay, 21. 15.
[00:46:34] Speaker B: That is a 10.
[00:46:36] Speaker A: Okay Steve you're you're just at the moment you are. You're interested in what's in this boat and in fact. Oh yeah, not really helping but Zozo between you and Beleg you managed to like unfurl the jib and you know, here goes the mainsail. And because there's really quite a large berth here, there's no danger of hitting any other boats and you start putting out out northwards.
You'll have to.
[00:47:03] Speaker D: Dr. Marvin. I sail.
[00:47:06] Speaker G: I can sail.
[00:47:08] Speaker B: Oh God.
[00:47:10] Speaker A: Just over your shoulder. You'll see now it was Dante on the docks and he is waving his cyan hat frantically in the air. But he's far, far out of vocal range. And part you are off to sea.
[00:47:31] Speaker F: We are trilling behind.
[00:47:35] Speaker A: Rook.
[00:47:36] Speaker F: I can see it's on the dock.
Rook. And I yell like Dante and you captaining this boat? Quartermaster Dante's back.
We are the speedier boat. We can catch up.
[00:47:55] Speaker C: You want to go back and get him?
[00:47:57] Speaker F: You could swing by. It's up to you.
[00:48:02] Speaker C: Do we need Dante?
[00:48:04] Speaker D: That'd be interesting to know what he said.
[00:48:06] Speaker F: Yeah, it doesn't hurt, man.
Yes, we can catch up to the other boat.
[00:48:16] Speaker A: You wanna.
[00:48:16] Speaker G: You wanna turn around? Map my blood.
[00:48:20] Speaker F: Well, we'll do a drive by. We can catch him.
[00:48:28] Speaker B: If we miss him, we miss do a Crazy Ivan.
[00:48:31] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:48:32] Speaker A: And we all fish farms hard on the tiller. And all of a sudden the boat has whipped around this little.
Yeah, watch out, because now, like you're fast approaching the pier where Dante is at.
[00:48:47] Speaker G: And now, whoa, guys, you just passed Beleg and Steve. Like you guys just passed each other.
[00:48:52] Speaker A: Going the other way.
[00:48:54] Speaker B: Steve's waving from the porthole inside.
[00:48:56] Speaker D: Oh, Beleg is like just trying to flex his muscles on the steering wheel.
[00:49:01] Speaker E: Okay, you're on the wheel.
[00:49:03] Speaker F: How close to the dock does our boat get?
[00:49:07] Speaker A: You're now coming within about 20ft. And Dante now cups his hands over his mouth and yells, where are you going?
[00:49:18] Speaker C: That's what you wanted to turn around for?
[00:49:30] Speaker F: Well, I mean, we can catch him. We can catch this headboat, no problem.
[00:49:36] Speaker D: I'm gonna turn to the guy's gonna respond to Dante.
[00:49:41] Speaker A: He's running alongside the.
[00:49:44] Speaker F: If that's all he's got to yell. If he wanted to jump, then he'd be like, take me with you. But if he's yelling, where are you going? They'd be like, oh, you're not gonna tell him?
[00:49:56] Speaker C: No, it's better off he doesn't know where.
[00:49:58] Speaker F: We're not telling him where we're going. If Dante's coming with us.
[00:50:02] Speaker G: If he's like, hear you. I can hear you. No, I don't want to come with you. Where are you going?
[00:50:15] Speaker F: Sinker swims, buddy.
[00:50:18] Speaker C: I gotta tell the captain to turn around and start going back out.
[00:50:24] Speaker A: You guys whip around, you know, just as Dante runs out of pier.
And you guys whip around. And now you are rejoining the northwards trajectory of the. The Nobleman's purple vessel. It's just about twice the size of the. The ferry here. And now you will see, you know, Beleg and Zozo, that again, the small Orcish vessel has pulled a 180 and it's rejoining you and it's quickly gaining on you.
[00:50:52] Speaker F: I just yell, rebuild the doorway.
Brunch Is served.
[00:51:02] Speaker G: What does that mean.
[00:51:08] Speaker F: We'Ll be back for brunch?
The fact that like I, I tell Rook that like, honestly, we don't want to follow this boat.
[00:51:16] Speaker D: Dante, he's just doing his job.
[00:51:19] Speaker F: Yeah, but he's an idiot.
[00:51:20] Speaker D: He eats so much.
Oh man, he's so helpful.
[00:51:25] Speaker F: But then I like, I, I. Okay, Brooke, we don't want to be close to this boat. We actually want to sit a little behind.
We don't know what's gonna happen to this boat. We don't know who it's gonna be attacked by.
[00:51:43] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm all right with that.
[00:51:44] Speaker A: Psst.
Hey.
I remember your name and your construct.
[00:51:50] Speaker G: That saying, it reminded me even more.
Rook.
Yeah, with the shaved head. Give me back my razor.
[00:52:05] Speaker F: I look at Rook being like, what the fuck?
[00:52:09] Speaker C: What razor?
[00:52:13] Speaker F: Do you guys know each other?
[00:52:15] Speaker G: I'll just drink from my flagon here. You know the Ferryman's Guild?
Well, we could, we could be very friendly to you.
[00:52:26] Speaker C: He helped me get across to see you when I needed to before I met up with you guys.
[00:52:32] Speaker A: Excellent.
[00:52:34] Speaker C: He'll take us where we need. He's a good guy. Captain Flagon, this is my construct friend you can call Mr. K.
Does he drink?
Only oil if you got it.
[00:52:50] Speaker F: I drink, but it's not worth it. But the key is to follow that purple sailed ship. But we don't need to be noticed.
[00:53:01] Speaker G: Brock. I gotcha. I gotcha. Me and you and we'll grow up the tiller. Blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:53:09] Speaker F: It'd be nice to follow that ship and not be noticed.
[00:53:14] Speaker A: You know, Kaitoa, as you say that you guys are sort of holding back a little bit. And guys, on the noble ship there, you also are sort of, you know, keeping at the moment distance because you've made a fairly unremarkable exit from pole. And you know, Kaitoa. I love that final word. At least in this spiritual ending of the episode. We'll be back for brunch.
[00:53:41] Speaker F: Robin. I also would like to, I really want to do a lap the ship right away.
[00:53:47] Speaker C: Yeah, we need to find out what we got. Yeah, the Orcish boat.
[00:53:51] Speaker A: Well, friends and adventures, do you guys want to do a little recharge here?
I gotta get a new plate of Brie. I need a beer.
[00:54:01] Speaker F: A new prey to Brie or DM has stepped it up.
