Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers, to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am your dungeon master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Tomo.
[00:00:17] Speaker B: I am playing Steve Tehuman, Level 5 Gloomstalker. Ranger Fighter, Level 2, Rogue, Level 1.
I have an owl.
[00:00:27] Speaker A: Brandon.
[00:00:29] Speaker C: I am ikirut Puisle, Level 8 Blood Hunter, half orc. And I have breast enhancements.
[00:00:39] Speaker A: Brayden.
[00:00:40] Speaker D: Hey. I'm Braden. I play Beleague Degar, half elf. Hexblade warlock, level eight, Eric.
[00:00:48] Speaker E: I'm Eric. I play Dr. Zozo brightfeather, a level eight narakocra artificer.
[00:00:54] Speaker A: And last but not least, Caleb.
[00:00:59] Speaker F: I am the construct, Kaitohe Tata. And I am a level 8 warforged barbarian.
[00:01:10] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blaggards
And as the sounds of the Kenku surely disappear at the same time, you hear the sounds of something coming from up the stairwell.
[00:01:31] Speaker B: All right, let's get down the stairwell between two ferns.
[00:01:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:35] Speaker F: Let's go down.
[00:01:36] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:01:36] Speaker B: Pick a direction. And I think.
[00:01:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:01:41] Speaker F: Kaito is going to lead the way. Down the stairs.
[00:01:46] Speaker A: Two knights appear. They are the knights of Hewgill Castle, bearing shields and long swords.
Kill the quartermaster and his party.
[00:01:57] Speaker E: Oh, they're charmed.
[00:01:59] Speaker B: Let's kill this. These motherfuckers.
[00:02:02] Speaker F: They're charmed.
[00:02:04] Speaker D: We're on two fronts.
[00:02:06] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:02:07] Speaker A: Roll initiative.
[00:02:11] Speaker F: How much time passed between the last initiative?
[00:02:15] Speaker A: So perhaps four to five minutes.
[00:02:19] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:02:21] Speaker B: The final rage.
[00:02:23] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:02:23] Speaker D: Belly rolled an eight.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: Okay, so those are 12.
[00:02:27] Speaker B: Steve rolled a 20. One.
[00:02:31] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:02:32] Speaker C: 13.
[00:02:34] Speaker F: Non natty.
[00:02:35] Speaker A: Non natty. 20 for the construct.
[00:02:38] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: Oh, you guys are hot off the mark. Except for you. Beleg. Beleg. Can I meet you in the side channel, please? Yep, no problem.
Belleg.
[00:02:51] Speaker D: What's up?
[00:02:52] Speaker A: Who's Leah?
[00:02:55] Speaker D: Who's Leah?
He's a half elf I met.
Yep.
Pretty hot, too.
[00:03:08] Speaker A: She is.
[00:03:12] Speaker D: As far as I could tell, she looked an awful lot like the Wizards Guild Emissary that tried to kill us as well.
Not all the time.
[00:03:31] Speaker A: If only your brain was as potent as when you wag your finger.
[00:03:40] Speaker D: Are you telling me that Leah was Emmaus?
[00:03:43] Speaker A: Beleg. Can you roll a persuasion on Anansewa?
[00:03:49] Speaker D: Yes.
As a four.
[00:03:56] Speaker F: Oh.
[00:03:58] Speaker A: You know that Emis means what Belle?
[00:04:06] Speaker D: I know what Emma means.
[00:04:10] Speaker A: You know what Emis is short for?
[00:04:14] Speaker D: Emissary.
[00:04:16] Speaker A: Yes.
Dum dum.
Yes.
What is Leah short for?
[00:04:34] Speaker D: Ah, we got a liaison.
[00:04:37] Speaker A: Belak. I will award you inspiration.
[00:04:40] Speaker D: Yay.
[00:04:42] Speaker A: You are on the ball, my friend.
[00:04:45] Speaker D: Eventually, Belleg.
[00:04:49] Speaker A: The chosen ones.
The chosen ones.
And now Beleg. We will go back to the.
The mainstream. I would say. You might as well consider that you made that role. You have salvaged that role with your excellent insight.
[00:05:11] Speaker D: Did it?
[00:05:14] Speaker A: And friends and adventurers, what will you do as you are assaulted from beneath?
[00:05:24] Speaker B: Knives to the face. Knives to the face. Knives to the face.
[00:05:28] Speaker A: Steve, you are up 21 in initiative. Kaitoa, you're on deck. Get ready.
[00:05:34] Speaker B: All right, so yeah, first. First guy gets a knife in the visor.
Okay, that is a 20. That is a crit.
[00:05:46] Speaker F: That's too high. Steve.
[00:05:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:51] Speaker B: You have a natty 20.
[00:05:52] Speaker A: You have about a 2 inch eye slit that is just perfect for a dagger.
[00:05:57] Speaker B: Yeah, that's exactly where it goes.
5, 10, 12.
[00:06:06] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:07] Speaker B: So 27 damage.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: Oh boy.
Okay, Steve, right on target to the first knight. What else in your move?
[00:06:20] Speaker B: Well, I get two more throws the second night.
Second one misses. The highest I got was, well, maybe, unless I've got really shitty AC.
Second one hits with 11.
[00:06:33] Speaker A: One of them clangs off the wall.
[00:06:36] Speaker B: All right, third shot.
[00:06:39] Speaker F: Nice sound effect.
[00:06:42] Speaker B: 17 plus 3. That is a 20. Non natural.
[00:06:46] Speaker A: And this second knight takes a Steve munition.
[00:06:52] Speaker B: 19.
[00:06:54] Speaker A: Again. Steve, you have found a eye slit perfectly sized for your daggers. What else in your move? Both now have taken a dagger to the face.
[00:07:07] Speaker B: They're both standing.
[00:07:09] Speaker A: Indeed. And they crouch low behind the arc of their shield. And yet they are transfixed on Rook.
[00:07:20] Speaker B: I'm going to action surge for my bonus.
[00:07:24] Speaker A: Whoa.
[00:07:26] Speaker B: And yeah, we're gonna start all over again.
That's another crit. 20.
[00:07:32] Speaker D: Really?
[00:07:33] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:07:34] Speaker B: I'm rolling with advantage when I start. So this is. This is what it happens.
[00:07:40] Speaker D: 20 attacks earlier and got one crit. Which is exactly what probability would suggest would happen.
[00:07:46] Speaker A: Steve, whom would you say you are targeting? You dealt more damage to the first.
[00:07:53] Speaker B: First one. Yeah. I want to see how much these guys can take. So that is three plus five for 50.
Three plus five for eight, plus 10 for 18. Second shot, a total of 18 points.
[00:08:09] Speaker A: Okay, casualty.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: All right, second shot.
14 plus three to hit for 17.
[00:08:21] Speaker A: That hits two.
[00:08:25] Speaker B: 17 points of damage meets.
[00:08:26] Speaker A: It beats it. Yeah. So these guys are. I mean, they're in heavy plate mail. And Steve, in this case, as you fell the first one, he clatters back down the stairs.
And the second person is taking another dagger that is in excess of their hit points.
[00:08:47] Speaker B: And he's gone too, to the second guy.
[00:08:49] Speaker A: So now are falling, clattering down. These guys have tumbled down almost 18 to 20ft.
[00:08:59] Speaker D: So where. Where are we planning on going, guys?
[00:09:02] Speaker A: Well, we have to Ms. Yeah.
[00:09:05] Speaker E: Chase after Emma's.
[00:09:06] Speaker D: Yeah, but if we go outside, all these ravens are still gonna chase us in more open faces.
[00:09:13] Speaker A: True.
[00:09:14] Speaker D: We might be best to just try and kill all the ravens now, where we've got a choke point.
[00:09:19] Speaker F: Is this the end of the ravens, though, or is it just wave after wave after wave?
[00:09:25] Speaker D: I don't know. I just don't like aerial assailants having free reign on all the space they want.
[00:09:33] Speaker F: I'm feeling comfortable in this, like, stairwell right now that we have. Like, we're not open.
We have a pinch point.
[00:09:44] Speaker B: Yeah, I can.
[00:09:46] Speaker A: If.
[00:09:47] Speaker B: If we're not completely out of time, I can try to see if she's within five miles of us and do my. Do my spell while we fight.
[00:09:57] Speaker F: Boom. Yeah.
[00:09:58] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: If you guys are good for it, then I can do it right now. We can get it out of the.
[00:10:01] Speaker F: Way if you have the move right now. I'm next. I'll hit anything.
[00:10:05] Speaker D: It Thumbs up if so, if this is the decision we make. Rob, can I ready an eldritch blast so I can blast as soon as Kaitoa opens the door a little bit?
[00:10:15] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:10:17] Speaker A: Yeah, you may.
[00:10:19] Speaker D: Then let's do that.
[00:10:20] Speaker F: Yeah, Steve, go ahead.
[00:10:23] Speaker B: All right. Steve assumes the Zen, like, sitting position to fall into his little Steve trance.
[00:10:32] Speaker F: Someone's trancing these guys.
[00:10:35] Speaker D: Oh, you mean like brainwashing them?
[00:10:37] Speaker F: Yeah, or these knights and also the crows.
So we're basically just, like, hacking down fodder.
[00:10:47] Speaker A: Hmm.
As the party prepares their next stratagem, there is a call from down the stairwell.
Kill the court of master. Kill the quartermaster and his party.
[00:11:07] Speaker B: It's a lot of plates.
[00:11:10] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:11:11] Speaker D: Why don't they, like.
Bellik takes his prepared eldritch blast and points it down the stairs.
[00:11:21] Speaker E: Yeah, okay. I think there are going.
There are.
There are hundreds of ravens. Probably 500 in the city.
Yeah, Sen. We could be facing all of them right now.
[00:11:36] Speaker D: But do we face all of them anyways?
[00:11:38] Speaker F: But if we go into an open street, all the ravens and the guards can take us.
[00:11:45] Speaker D: Steve's in his ward now anyways, so we have a minute to kill friends.
[00:11:50] Speaker A: And adventurers as you lose the ability to connect with Steve Dahumin as he focuses on Amos, the fleeing emissary of the wizard's Guild.
Zozo Clues. Ye in? Do you know how many foes in the form of ravens you might face? And the shouts of clearly more than two knights this time reach your ears. I would like you to roll a group intelligence.
[00:12:21] Speaker F: Ravens don't wear mail.
[00:12:23] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[00:12:24] Speaker F: Kaitoa's got an 11, so.
[00:12:27] Speaker E: So I got 15.
[00:12:28] Speaker C: Rook rolled a 13.
[00:12:30] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:12:31] Speaker D: Valley had a couch dice, so he's gonna roll it again.
[00:12:37] Speaker A: Oh God. Is only Zozo cracking it?
Is only Zozo cracking 15.
[00:12:43] Speaker F: I'm an 11, so yeah.
[00:12:47] Speaker D: Intelligence is my dump stat, man.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:12:50] Speaker F: Minus one.
[00:12:51] Speaker A: Okay, can everybody roll group perception? Zozo as the party uses their five senses to realize what is happening around them. You put together the pieces.
[00:13:09] Speaker D: That's an eight as well.
[00:13:10] Speaker A: Oh God.
[00:13:12] Speaker B: Oh, there we go. Some good at good ass bellic perception.
[00:13:17] Speaker F: That's the bello Guino.
[00:13:19] Speaker D: All is normal.
[00:13:21] Speaker C: 15 for Rex.
[00:13:23] Speaker A: All right.
Okay. Well Zozo as you realize that there is some horrifying chain reaction going on here. You know all the birds in Polb have been possessed. It's not just the ravens.
You realize something terrible has happened here.
And you understand that it is not just the 500 Ravens but outside party. You can hear the screams of not just Sandra's men. But it sounds like a bloodbath is happening outside of your tower party. All of your senses start to pick up that the inhabitants of the castle are routing and fleeing.
And yet five knights are approaching up the left hand spiral staircase. And they are all holding sharp blood blades above their shields as they stalk up towards the party. But interestingly though guys, the cawing has left from the Kenku's chamber.
[00:14:32] Speaker B: Back in the chamber.
[00:14:36] Speaker D: I'm ready to knock these guards downstairs.
[00:14:40] Speaker E: Okay, Belleg after my full initiative.
[00:14:44] Speaker A: No, we're out of initiative right now.
There is no immediate combat other than the five knights who are stalking up the stairs. But it is the party's choice, shall we say, to engage them.
[00:15:03] Speaker B: Can we anti charm spell these guys? Anyone?
[00:15:07] Speaker F: All right.
[00:15:09] Speaker A: Steve, you have received a message in the private chat.
[00:15:15] Speaker E: I mean if we retreat back into the tower, we're kind of stuck there. I mean everyone but Zozo is stuck there because there's no other exit and we're gonna have to fight them anyway.
[00:15:25] Speaker F: I don't think we retreat, we take.
[00:15:27] Speaker E: Them out or the the knights. I think the crows have left the tower.
[00:15:34] Speaker D: Happy taking the knights out on the staircase. We got.
[00:15:37] Speaker F: Yeah, I get the hit. I get the hit points. I. I'm gonna smash rage and it's enough to take these fox on.
[00:15:45] Speaker E: Are we gonna do the fed?
[00:15:46] Speaker D: But they only come up one or.
[00:15:48] Speaker C: Two at a time, so.
[00:15:49] Speaker F: Yeah. And especially like apparently they've got a point of at least 17.
[00:15:55] Speaker B: All right, Steve pops out of his trance chamber. Nappy's chamber staircase.
She's Going there amis.
Go go go.
There's a hidden staircase.
Where the T junction. Matthew's chamber.
The rocks lead the way.
[00:16:17] Speaker F: Hey rookie.
[00:16:19] Speaker A: Quick history check with advantage.
And yes party. As the ranger boy pops out of his trance like there's a clear urgency.
[00:16:34] Speaker D: How far away is it? Is it within 500ft?
[00:16:38] Speaker A: Naphy's chamber.
[00:16:39] Speaker F: Fifteen.
[00:16:41] Speaker A: Yeah. Rook, you remember when you tumbled down this one broken flagstone stair on that strange little hidden staircase between Nafrey's office and where he sort of entered the castle where the musicians often play. You remember almost thrashing your ankle in this strange little chasm beneath this hidden staircase. And Steve is pointing right down to there. Beleg is it within 500ft? Let's see.
[00:17:15] Speaker C: I just start running towards or making my way towards there.
[00:17:19] Speaker D: Dash towards it. Making downstairs.
[00:17:23] Speaker F: Fuck you.
[00:17:26] Speaker B: Follow me.
[00:17:26] Speaker A: That's our song guys.
That's our song.
[00:17:31] Speaker B: She's going to follow Rook and he's just. Yeah. Tunnels.
Tunnels in the staircase. Tunnels.
He's still like scrubbing. I don't know, sleep dust out of his eyes.
[00:17:44] Speaker A: Bell egg as you ask Steve that Steve you can confidently answer it is exactly 559ft away.
[00:18:00] Speaker D: 559Ft?
[00:18:02] Speaker A: Yes. The area of the castle that the party knows well is just on the other side of the castle.
[00:18:10] Speaker B: Bell Lake.
[00:18:11] Speaker D: Nick. I Toa you want to go for a ride?
[00:18:14] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:18:15] Speaker D: All right.
I grab Kaitoa and dimension door to as close as I can to where Steve's telling us to go.
[00:18:25] Speaker A: Can you roll a percentage dice or a 1D10? I'll take a 1D10.
[00:18:32] Speaker F: Both of us or just felt like five.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: Huh?
[00:18:36] Speaker D: Five.
[00:18:38] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:18:39] Speaker D: Well I could burn an inspiration.
[00:18:41] Speaker F: Both of us. I. Yeah.
[00:18:43] Speaker A: Beleg you are transporting both you and Kaitoa.
[00:18:47] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: You have appeared at the moment mid air in that hidden staircase and you're about to fall like 15ft down onto the rocky chasm where you wanted to be. I will let you modify your role.
[00:19:05] Speaker F: Oh, we're falling 15ft.
[00:19:08] Speaker A: You are cartoon style suspended in the air.
[00:19:11] Speaker D: Can I modifying my my defense.
[00:19:14] Speaker A: Oh no.
[00:19:14] Speaker F: Can I catch beleg and take the fall?
[00:19:18] Speaker A: Yeah, you'll just. You'll just be hugging each other in midair but you're still both gonna fall.
[00:19:23] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:19:25] Speaker D: I could take a way not to fall though.
[00:19:27] Speaker A: Yes. Re roll the D10 with an inspiration.
[00:19:31] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:19:32] Speaker F: I was gonna say I can damage.
[00:19:36] Speaker A: Well that'll do it. Like just get out of that one to five category, man.
Now you guys only appear a little discombobulated and disoriented. Although you were hovering midair. Belleg you concentrate and you put your fingers to your temples and you burn an inspiration. And although Kaitoa reaches out and hugs you tight, you're. You're just standing there together.
[00:20:05] Speaker B: Like in Kaito is just hugging you.
[00:20:07] Speaker D: Yeah. I slap him on the chest and say, let's run down this pathway.
[00:20:13] Speaker A: Beneath you. There is the area that you guys passed almost a week and a half before. Beneath this staircase, beneath these huge flagstones is a passage.
And you would have to move a couple of them. They are enormously large like Kaito. You'd have to move two of them to get them out of the way for a person of your size. But a very small person like a halfling or a very light, stealthy person could probably just squeeze in between these large flagstones. Kaitoa, roll of strength.
[00:20:47] Speaker F: Yeah, safe.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: But we gotta move Kaitoa. What'd you get there?
[00:20:54] Speaker F: 14 plus 6.
[00:20:57] Speaker A: The rocks shift away and beleg you kind of scoot under. How? Kaitoa has lifted these huge flagstones away and there is a tiny little tunnel.
[00:21:12] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:21:13] Speaker A: Folks, back up at the Kenku's tower. What are you doing, Steve?
[00:21:19] Speaker E: Are you running down the stairs?
[00:21:21] Speaker B: Yeah, we're doing. We're doing it the old fashioned way, I guess.
[00:21:24] Speaker E: Okay. Yeah, we should probably stick together.
[00:21:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
Unless you guys have a better idea of getting down there.
[00:21:30] Speaker E: No, I mean I can go out the window, but I think I want to stay inside for now.
[00:21:37] Speaker B: Yeah, I guess in the most direct fashion. Although I have one last.
I have one last little pass without trace that we could use.
[00:21:50] Speaker E: That's probably a good idea.
[00:21:51] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:21:51] Speaker B: Do we want to pass without trace?
[00:21:54] Speaker E: I think so.
[00:21:55] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay. Probably draw your swords and kill them.
[00:22:02] Speaker B: Pass with a trace.
[00:22:06] Speaker A: Okay, party. Can you roll a group stealth with plus 10?
[00:22:10] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:22:10] Speaker B: Plus 10 stealth.
[00:22:11] Speaker A: Roll.
[00:22:14] Speaker C: 29.
[00:22:15] Speaker F: Is this a poof and swoop 29.
[00:22:18] Speaker E: Exactly 32 for me.
[00:22:21] Speaker B: Oh, nice.
I'm going to use my inspiration because that was not a good will.
[00:22:29] Speaker E: All right.
[00:22:29] Speaker B: I have zero inspiration now.
Ah, sweet. Therehere we go.
18. 18 plus 9 for 27.
[00:22:39] Speaker A: That is lucky, Steve, because as you turn around and you do the sort of two fingers under each eye and you nod to Zozo and then to Rook and you take out your little black pouch of smudging ash and you put it under your eyes there.
You almost reveal yourself, but you are successful. And all three of you now inch past these sort of transfixed guards. They are almost still advancing on the place where Rook was.
[00:23:19] Speaker E: Sam Fisher. Up the walls above them.
[00:23:25] Speaker A: And Party. Now they are about five feet behind you. Now they're 10ft feet behind you and you still hear them shouting and you know, now they're going up to the landing and the door there. And now they are past you. What are you doing?
[00:23:41] Speaker B: Let's stealth the fuck out to Nafrey's Naafrey's office and then further to the tunnel.
[00:23:48] Speaker A: Okay.
Yeah, I would say Rook and Zozo and Steve, can you roll me a pair quick group perception U3.
And then Kaitoa and Beleg Bellak, you can no problem, stoop down into this tunnel. It's almost like it's made for the size of a halfling or a goblin or a kobold.
And as it goes down downwards it becomes very wet and dank, you know. And you recall the pole is a city almost at sea level and very few areas even have any sort of sewers or basements or etc. And then as you go down even just 50 or 60ft, you can hear the sound of water.
Kaitoa, as you flash, follow Beleg, Your shoulder plates and all your construct parts barely cram into this tiny little hole.
But you are able to navigate through the tunnel. But it is awfully tight. I mean nobody could pass you and I don't think you could even turn around.
[00:25:08] Speaker D: Well, we're committed now.
[00:25:12] Speaker A: What do you do?
[00:25:14] Speaker F: Am I, am I stuck?
[00:25:16] Speaker A: Not at all. Just like a. You're like a bowling ball going through a bowling channel.
[00:25:22] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:25:22] Speaker A: Beleg, you are in front. Kaitoa is right over your shoulder. And now it is leveling out. And now you do see rushing water.
[00:25:32] Speaker D: We see rushing water coming towards us.
[00:25:34] Speaker A: Or no, passing before your eyes, going sort of naturally east to west as you would imagine, towards the river Polba.
[00:25:43] Speaker D: Okay, Keep going forward.
[00:25:47] Speaker A: Okay. As you inch out here, Beleg, you have darkvision.
[00:25:52] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:25:52] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you do not.
[00:25:54] Speaker F: Nope.
[00:25:55] Speaker A: Okay, Kaitoa, you are very limited in your vision right now as you kind of hold on to Beleg's cloaked shoulder. You exit out of this small tunnel and now there is roughly a 10 foot wide underground river and it seems to be flowing directly under the castle walls and the city walls.
[00:26:24] Speaker D: Did we notice any, any blood or anything on the way down indicating where.
[00:26:30] Speaker A: Amos Beleg, as you turn back and ask Kaito with that, could you guys both roll investigation?
[00:26:41] Speaker F: I can't see or smell, but that.
[00:26:45] Speaker D: Was a 16 for bell egg.
[00:26:47] Speaker F: Oh, Natty. 20.
[00:26:50] Speaker D: Nice.
[00:26:52] Speaker F: I don't know how I could see this. I don't know how to explain it.
No, I Have no clue how I noticed this.
[00:27:02] Speaker A: Kaitoa Beleg. You both. Both beat my DC and so combined.
As you exit out of this little tunnel, it is clear that the ground has been disturbed recently.
And along the walls there is clearly a bloodstain. Beleg, your fingers touch it as you come out of the corner of the tunnel.
[00:27:34] Speaker D: That's the way we go.
[00:27:37] Speaker A: Okay, party of three, back to you. You have rushed past this second level armory.
Steve Rook, you would probably be leading the way here because Zozo, probably the first time you've been in this strange little door.
Where are we going now?
Down through Nafrey's chamber. And now party of three, you notice the area in this spiral staircase has been changed. There are now two huge flagstones which clearly show a secret small tunnel that before was obscured.
[00:28:20] Speaker C: Well, let's head for the tunnel.
[00:28:22] Speaker D: Yep, yep.
[00:28:24] Speaker B: Let's get on it.
[00:28:25] Speaker A: You three now are making your way through a downwards angled tunnel.
And before you know it, you see footsteps in muddy wet footprints. One of a huge construct boot and one of a soft elven boot.
And you can.
[00:28:46] Speaker D: They're more like moccasins really.
[00:28:48] Speaker A: You can perhaps hear the echoing of Kaitoa's footsteps. But you three, you guys feel you actually are quite far behind.
Beleg and Kaitoa, you are now feeling like you are under the Bergen gate. You have now run.
Run towards where there is a change in the river's trajectory. You know, here it is. Enters a bit of a pool.
And you'll have to either go around the left side of the pool or the right side of the pool.
[00:29:26] Speaker D: Left side or right side of the pool?
[00:29:28] Speaker F: Do we see the bloodstream?
[00:29:29] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:29:31] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you will roll a perception to track your prey at this point. Which way have they gone?
[00:29:39] Speaker D: I'm rolling two, not one.
This is incredible.
[00:29:47] Speaker F: I got a 15 plus.
Oh, 21.
[00:29:52] Speaker B: Are you using a torch?
[00:29:54] Speaker F: Sorry? 19.
[00:29:55] Speaker B: Light a torch. Light a torch.
[00:29:59] Speaker F: I'm using the smell of blood.
[00:30:06] Speaker D: Duh.
[00:30:08] Speaker B: Duh.
[00:30:09] Speaker F: I'm a soldier. I know what blood smells like.
[00:30:15] Speaker D: Belle, cast bonfire like on the ground close to us so we can see. Yeah, it's a flash so I can cast it as much as I want.
[00:30:25] Speaker A: I was about to say there is a severe lack of light here. But Bellik, what would you cast bonfire with on.
[00:30:34] Speaker D: Ollie?
[00:30:35] Speaker F: Kaito's head?
[00:30:39] Speaker D: Yes, that would be pretty funny.
[00:30:41] Speaker A: Yeah. A little candle on the head. Yeah.
[00:30:43] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:30:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:30:46] Speaker B: No, take candle.
[00:30:48] Speaker D: A bonfire on your candle.
A five foot flame off of Kaitoa's head.
[00:30:56] Speaker F: I will take the damage.
[00:31:01] Speaker A: Okay. Is that what you do, Beleg?
[00:31:04] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:31:07] Speaker A: This circular underground pool is illuminated, and immediately you see a strange shadow from the corner.
There's a strange optical illusion facing both of you now.
[00:31:24] Speaker D: I shoot. I Eldritch blast in that direction.
[00:31:27] Speaker A: Roll on ac. Roll initiative, Beleague, Degar, and Kaitoa.
[00:31:31] Speaker F: I plant my arms in to stop.
[00:31:35] Speaker D: My initiative was 5. I'm having horrible rolls tonight. Holy.
Am I still rolling on AC?
[00:31:43] Speaker A: You can roll an AC. You surprised this?
[00:31:46] Speaker F: I got a 13.
[00:31:47] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:31:49] Speaker D: AC roll was 16.
[00:31:51] Speaker A: 16.
[00:31:53] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:31:54] Speaker A: That does not hit.
Oh, and Kaitoa, 13 initiative. Bell egg. 5 initiative.
[00:32:02] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:32:05] Speaker A: Okay.
Bella, can you make a wisdom saving throw? Kaitoa, can you make a wisdom saving throw?
[00:32:13] Speaker F: No.
[00:32:16] Speaker D: That's a 19.
[00:32:17] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:32:19] Speaker F: I have a three.
[00:32:23] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
[00:32:26] Speaker F: It's a two plus one.
[00:32:32] Speaker A: Party of three. As you rush down the tunnel here, you see a different sort of feature. It's no longer just a swift flowing underground river. It is now opening to a sort of round pool.
And you see Kaitoa. Tata.
[00:32:57] Speaker F: I also have a flame on my head.
[00:33:03] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you don't just have a flame on your head. You have a crown of madness.
[00:33:10] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:33:12] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[00:33:13] Speaker C: I'm gonna make my way towards Kaitoa.
[00:33:18] Speaker E: I'm gonna make up a healing potion.
[00:33:20] Speaker B: Keep your distance.
[00:33:23] Speaker D: Don't. Don't.
[00:33:29] Speaker A: Kaitoa, can you please move towards Beleg Dagar and attack him?
[00:33:34] Speaker F: Oh, boy.
[00:33:36] Speaker A: How.
[00:33:36] Speaker F: How far away is he?
[00:33:38] Speaker A: 15Ft.
[00:33:40] Speaker F: Okay.
Is that a fellow? My next movement.
[00:33:44] Speaker D: I am gonna make an opportunity attack and use Eldritch Blast.
[00:33:49] Speaker A: So you have two choices here. Yes, you could blast what you see to be a strange optical illusion, or you could blast Kaitoa.
[00:34:00] Speaker D: But it's for my opportunity attack.
[00:34:02] Speaker A: It's one of the other, I suppose. Yeah. Oh, it's a tough choice.
Kaitoa is the more immediate threat.
[00:34:10] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:34:11] Speaker A: And yet you really did have this sort of clear outline of something in your E blast crosshairs. You're ready.
[00:34:22] Speaker D: Well, I do have two beams.
[00:34:25] Speaker F: I'm not enraged.
[00:34:27] Speaker A: I'll beam one each roll first at the optical illusion.
[00:34:34] Speaker D: Fuck. 13.
Fuck. 9. God damn.
[00:34:41] Speaker A: Your E blast first does not seem to meet its target.
Your E blast second seems to just graze Kaito Toa's frame.
[00:34:53] Speaker D: This is the dice. Gods punishing me for missing last session.
These rolls are brutal. I think I got 2 above 10 today.
[00:35:02] Speaker F: Sorry, Robin.
[00:35:03] Speaker A: What did he say?
[00:35:04] Speaker F: You need to roll against him.
[00:35:05] Speaker A: Well, you're making a melee attack against a creature other than yourself, which is Beleg.
[00:35:15] Speaker F: So it's a melee Attack.
So Kaitoa just takes a swing and then moves.
[00:35:21] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you will either swing that axe and hit, or you will swing that axe and miss. And then your three adventurers will likely catch up on the scene.
[00:35:34] Speaker F: Okay. Well, the axe swing is a third.
[00:35:37] Speaker D: Thirteen.
[00:35:38] Speaker A: Thirteen.
[00:35:40] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:35:40] Speaker A: That does not hit, Bella.
[00:35:43] Speaker D: Nope.
[00:35:45] Speaker A: As you bury your axe into the underground, sort of like a rocky, kind of muddy, pebbly floor here. Felt like you jump out of the way.
[00:35:56] Speaker F: Does that actually give up? My turn, though.
[00:35:59] Speaker A: The Crown of Madness decides that that's all you're doing. This move. Okay.
[00:36:04] Speaker D: Yeah. The target can act normally on its turn if you choose. No creature of none or within reach. But if there was one within reach here.
[00:36:11] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah.
You and Beleg rolled. What was it? 13. 5.
Your adversary there, who was also not hit, rolled something else. And then Rook, Steve and Zozo, can I have you enter initiative as you now enter this sort of underground pool where one path leads around to the right. Right. And then to the left. You see, Kaitoa and Beleg have taken that route.
[00:36:40] Speaker C: Rob, can I make an investigation on Kaitoa?
Just from a distance and with my dark vision, he doesn't seem to be acting normal to me, so I want to make an investigation. Roll on, see what's going on.
[00:36:56] Speaker A: Yeah, Roll it up.
You definitely see he just swung an axe of Belle egg. I mean, that's not too strange.
What.
[00:37:05] Speaker C: 18?
[00:37:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay.
You would say that on his head is a sort of flame, and that around that flame, it almost looked like a twisted sort of ring of thorns.
[00:37:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:37:26] Speaker C: I'm gonna turn to Steven Zozo and let them know that looks like Kaitoa is not fully there. And I don't know what's going on with him, but he's got a twisted crown over top of his flame there. I think we should approach this situation cautiously. We may have to just detain him until we can figure out what's going on.
[00:37:54] Speaker E: Does anyone know how to make him, like, go into that trance? He does sometimes.
[00:37:59] Speaker D: No.
[00:38:04] Speaker A: Anyone got a bunch of liquor?
[00:38:11] Speaker B: This obviously looks like the work of magic. Someone's casting something.
Where is that? Where are they?
[00:38:18] Speaker D: Would they have seeing me the direction that I blasted in?
I don't think away from Kaitoa.
[00:38:25] Speaker A: No, I think.
[00:38:25] Speaker F: I think. I think you cast that before they got there.
[00:38:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I think so.
[00:38:31] Speaker F: So I was already under the spell attacking you as they approached.
[00:38:36] Speaker D: Look for the place without a shadow.
[00:38:39] Speaker B: Steve's gonna use perception. Where's the place without the shadow?
[00:38:43] Speaker A: Okay.
Nicely called out there. Beleg and yes, there is a strange shadow across the pool. Roll that perception.
Actually, let's do a group perception. And Steve with advantage. And Kaitoa with advantage. With your now eagle eyes lit.
Rook, you got dark vision.
[00:39:08] Speaker F: The room is lit except for this.
[00:39:10] Speaker A: With advantage.
Zozo, what do you got for vision?
[00:39:15] Speaker E: I have dark vision.
[00:39:16] Speaker A: Oh, with advantage.
[00:39:18] Speaker B: I rolled 215.
[00:39:19] Speaker A: So 16.
Nice. 20.
[00:39:22] Speaker B: 23 first.
[00:39:24] Speaker F: You said perception.
12.
[00:39:28] Speaker E: I rolled a five, and that was my better roll.
[00:39:30] Speaker A: Good point.
[00:39:32] Speaker B: Thanks.
[00:39:34] Speaker D: Do I have to roll, Rob?
[00:39:36] Speaker A: In this moment, no. I think you probably just expanded it. You're allowing them to take a look at. At what is clearly. As the four of you kind of triangulate or quadrangulate in. Yes. It seems like there is an area where there's an optical illusion occurring and you can tell there's something blocking the light where there shouldn't be.
And you and Beleg, Kaitoa, you have sort of indicated to the other party members what might be in your faux range there. And Kaitoa, all you can do is raise up one of your hands over across the pool, but your other hand is still clutching that greataxe.
[00:40:24] Speaker F: It's not beleg.
I've determined.
Let's hit this other shadow.
That's all.
That's all I care about.
But it's not beleg.
[00:40:38] Speaker A: All right, who is next? There's. Okay, Toa. Beleg. Top of the order. And then. Yes, Rook. Zozo. Steve, who's up next?
[00:40:46] Speaker D: Do I get a turn, Rob?
[00:40:48] Speaker A: It depends who comes in over five.
[00:40:50] Speaker E: Okay, I rolled a six.
[00:40:54] Speaker C: That's a 19 for rook 19.
[00:40:57] Speaker E: Was I able to heal before?
[00:41:00] Speaker A: Yes, you were, Zozo.
19, rook.
[00:41:04] Speaker B: So, initially, are we. This is rolling initiative, Correct.
[00:41:08] Speaker A: Okay, we're plugging you in.
[00:41:10] Speaker F: Adjoining initiative.
[00:41:13] Speaker B: 22 for Steve.
[00:41:14] Speaker A: Okay. We're not gonna see you for a little while, though, Steve. Unfortunately, because of the way this works.
[00:41:19] Speaker D: Do you.
[00:41:21] Speaker A: Okay, so, Rook, it's actually you among the three who dash into the room. Although it would seem that it should be Steve, it is not.
And then you will see Zozo and Belek.
[00:41:40] Speaker C: How far away am I from this shadowless shadow?
[00:41:45] Speaker A: Well, 15 from Kaitoa to the left, and about 30 if you went around the range right side of the pool to where you determine to be this odd optical illusion.
[00:41:58] Speaker C: What to do? What to do?
Yes, I'll have to. I'll pull out my voltaic machete and the morning fire.
[00:42:12] Speaker A: Oh, that morning star.
And which way would you be heading? I mean, you have full movement. It's 15 to Beleg and Kaitoa on the left side. Curving around the pool. It's 30 to what you determine to be this shadow.
Right side.
[00:42:33] Speaker C: Right side of the pool.
[00:42:35] Speaker A: Well, you stock up, and 30ft will put you right within 5ft of a. E. Indeterminate shadow. What are you doing?
[00:42:46] Speaker C: So attack with the Morning Fire. My strong hand. And then they'll take preseti on my offhand into the shadow. I don't know whether I'm stabbing at, but I'm gonna stab at it.
[00:42:57] Speaker A: You go ahead and slice. Roll on, AC.
Ooh. Nat.
[00:43:03] Speaker C: 20 on the strong hand. So that is the Morning fire. That's a 26.
[00:43:11] Speaker A: Oh, boy.
That hits.
[00:43:15] Speaker C: And the other one's not.
[00:43:17] Speaker A: Not so good.
[00:43:17] Speaker C: Not so good. That one's.
[00:43:19] Speaker D: That's awesome, though.
[00:43:20] Speaker C: That's an 8.
[00:43:22] Speaker D: This is who we think it is. It's a AC of 20, I think.
[00:43:25] Speaker A: The 8 does not hit.
And you first lash out with the Morningstar. Absolutely hits. So deal damage.
[00:43:35] Speaker C: So I get to double my damage for creating.
[00:43:39] Speaker B: Right?
[00:43:40] Speaker A: Correct.
[00:43:41] Speaker C: And then the Morning Fire actually has advantage on all damage rolls, too.
[00:43:50] Speaker A: Damage dice and take the higher. I don't know. I wrote the description for that thing, so you tell me.
[00:43:55] Speaker F: Yeah, Advantage on damage.
[00:43:58] Speaker A: Oh, but it also. Yeah, this is also the one that has some. Some kickback if you don't hit it properly. Okay, well, you've obviously maxed out on it.
[00:44:08] Speaker C: Yeah, it does have kickback, but not this time.
[00:44:14] Speaker D: Figure's gonna have to make a con. Save for the crown of madness, too.
[00:44:19] Speaker C: Let's see here.
[00:44:21] Speaker A: Boom.
[00:44:22] Speaker C: Oh, geez. I rolled two sevens. Hell, that'd be 14 plus 2.
[00:44:29] Speaker A: So that'd be.
[00:44:29] Speaker C: Yeah, be 16 of fire damage.
[00:44:32] Speaker A: Yowza. Well, from across the pool, you hear the warlock of the party shout. This will break concentration hopefully. And your chain wraps around your foe and begins to ignite.
[00:44:49] Speaker E: I see.
[00:44:51] Speaker D: When did you get there? See anything?
[00:44:53] Speaker C: When did I get it?
[00:44:54] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:44:57] Speaker C: The wizard and spear. It was like, the only thing that I really wanted.
I'm trying to remember exactly, but, yeah, I've had it for a bit. This is the first time I.
[00:45:09] Speaker F: Yes, it is.
[00:45:11] Speaker A: I love this party that's accumulating. Curious about the kickback epic weapons without really ever using them. But what a time to use this ball on chain weapon. Rook. And that was your total damage.
[00:45:26] Speaker D: Oh, it's like a flail with 16 total damage. Yeah.
Fail the con. Save.
[00:45:34] Speaker B: All right.
[00:45:37] Speaker A: Okay, Rook, you've just killed somebody.
[00:45:40] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:45:46] Speaker A: And gradually, a brown cloak materializes in front of you. And your chain. And the ball at the end of this. Terrifying. Is this some ancient orcish weapon? I'm still trying to look up the description. Where is this morning fire? Eh? With. Spelled with a Y.
Yeah.
What is this? Here it is.
There it is. Oh, it's part of the major league sweet list.
[00:46:13] Speaker E: Yeah, exactly.
[00:46:15] Speaker A: Sweet list. Spring of 1808. Pre authorization required. Do not distribute. Qualified purchasers only. Oh.
2000 HP weapon. It is said half orc shamans enchanted this morning Star to be a plus one to hit weapon that deals all damage rolls at advantage. You were right on that.
On a critical hit, this weapon deals one D8 fire.
Ouch.
[00:46:44] Speaker D: That's a wonderful first use, buddy.
[00:46:48] Speaker A: Well, this thing is just burning for flesh. And it has found it in the form of Emis. The emissary whose charred corpse immolates in front of the party as rook has just come on up and whipped fire and. And destroyed the foe.
[00:47:11] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, exactly. You guys wanted them taken care of, right?
[00:47:15] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
It's good in the end.
[00:47:23] Speaker D: Let's loot.
[00:47:23] Speaker B: The body is Kaitoa.
[00:47:26] Speaker C: Kaito is out of his.
[00:47:28] Speaker B: I'm hoping there's something else keeping him.
[00:47:30] Speaker A: Keeping the Kaitoa on the far side or on the left side of the bank here.
Although the little flame the Belak cast on your tin can head is still there, this thorny crown immediately has dissipated. And Belak you asked about. What does this person look like? A husk.
[00:47:51] Speaker D: All right.
[00:47:52] Speaker E: Belleg.
[00:47:52] Speaker F: Don't ever do that again.
[00:47:55] Speaker D: Do what?
[00:47:56] Speaker F: The crowny form of flames.
[00:47:59] Speaker D: I didn't do that.
[00:48:02] Speaker F: Oh, I thought you cast that.
[00:48:04] Speaker D: No, no. Why would I do that?
[00:48:07] Speaker F: Oh, cuz I thought you said you cast light on my head. And then all of a sudden there was like this.
[00:48:12] Speaker D: No, no. I cast light. And then Amis had first turn. And that's why we both had to make wisdom save.
[00:48:18] Speaker A: Oh.
[00:48:20] Speaker F: For some reason I thought you cast it back on my head. But it backfired and I was like, what the.
[00:48:27] Speaker B: Then all his spells are going crazy.
[00:48:30] Speaker A: No.
[00:48:32] Speaker C: This pile of ashes is responsible for that.
[00:48:36] Speaker D: Is there. Is there any.
[00:48:38] Speaker B: Can we through her shit?
[00:48:39] Speaker D: Yeah, can we go through a shit? I wanna. I'm already there, man. I've already tried to look at her face.
[00:48:44] Speaker A: You know, the bone structure is elvish for sure.
[00:48:48] Speaker E: And dibs on the robes.
[00:48:50] Speaker A: The robe is very much singed around the middle. In fact, the rope robe has been cut in two around the midriff. But the two parts of it. Whoever's inspecting that brown robe, the brown robe of the emissary is a rare item.
[00:49:08] Speaker D: Want it? I want it. It fits my elven build so well.
[00:49:11] Speaker A: The party tears the robe.
[00:49:13] Speaker E: You can take the top, and I.
[00:49:14] Speaker B: Can take the bottom.
[00:49:17] Speaker A: Well, there are. There are two sides to it. So what I heard there is the bellagons. Zozo, you're each inspecting one side of this robe. And Steve, you begin to notice there is something similar about the fabric to this robe. And your poncho. Oh.
[00:49:35] Speaker D: Ooh.
[00:49:36] Speaker A: That same obscuring, sort of strange reflective effect. There's something woven into this brown cloak. The husk of the body does not have too many items on it that are intact.
Anything leather is still intact. Anything metal is still intact.
But really, I mean, the carapace is not pretty. It's like a charred marshmallow.
[00:50:04] Speaker D: It doesn't smell like a marshmallow.
[00:50:07] Speaker B: What is made out of metal? On this lady, there is a brooch.
[00:50:14] Speaker A: And the brooch is of brass, and it has a twin tower emblem.
[00:50:25] Speaker F: Never forget.
Oh, my God. That was awesome.
[00:50:34] Speaker D: Do you recognize the brooch?
[00:50:37] Speaker A: Absolutely. Everybody would recognize here the brooch of the brass towers of Chosm, the seat of power of the wizards guild.
[00:50:48] Speaker C: And ask the group. You guys think now the charm off of the castle guards and will be broken?
[00:50:56] Speaker D: I don't know, but we're heading to the.
[00:50:59] Speaker F: Potentially.
[00:50:59] Speaker E: But yeah, I mean, the hunger of Hadar didn't.
Didn't end when Beleg went unconscious.
[00:51:07] Speaker F: But definitely we should take this brooch as a bit of a.
[00:51:12] Speaker D: We should take everything and charm someone.
[00:51:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:51:16] Speaker D: We're on our way to the water. Let's take everything and then start making our way to Chasm.
[00:51:24] Speaker F: All right, well, I'm gonna take this approach.
[00:51:28] Speaker A: Okay. Other. Other items. There is a very sharp rapier. Steve, you were asking for things.
There's a very sharp rapier, very short.
There is a small rod, like a. It looks like it could be a wand, but it has absolutely no adorning features. It is about a 14 inch black rod.
[00:51:56] Speaker B: I'll pass it to Zozo. Do you know anything about this? You're probably the most likely to understand what this is.
[00:52:04] Speaker E: I can. I have the spell identified.
[00:52:07] Speaker A: Okay. Well, you would certainly have something to identify in your talons.
[00:52:11] Speaker D: Yeah. Identify our little. Our little robey robe.
[00:52:16] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:52:17] Speaker B: Just reading the description right now for the rapier. Would Steve be able to take a look at it and understand Quality.
[00:52:27] Speaker A: Perception investigation.
Kaitoa, do you want to roll anything above and beyond on that brooch that you took? Beleg, do you want to roll anything above and beyond on the of the top of the cloak. And then. Rook, you know you've asked aloud to the party about. Yeah. What is happening above ground?
[00:52:47] Speaker D: I'm assuming that zozo's gonna figure out the robe.
[00:52:53] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah.
[00:52:53] Speaker D: I'll identify the robe first and then just tell me.
Don't eat me.
[00:53:01] Speaker A: What'd you get there, zozo?
[00:53:03] Speaker D: I don't.
[00:53:04] Speaker E: Yeah, I don't have to roll anything. Just.
If it is a magic item or some other magic imbued object, you learn its properties and how to use, whether it requires attunement to use, and how many charges it has, if any.
[00:53:14] Speaker A: Oh, wow.
[00:53:14] Speaker E: I learned also learn any spells that are affecting the item. What they are.
[00:53:19] Speaker A: Well, zozo, you could be the new MEM in town.
[00:53:24] Speaker F: Yeah, Robin, I'm gonna. Before I inspect this item, actually inspect my sojourner's medallion.
[00:53:35] Speaker A: Your Sojourner's medallion? Interesting. Funnily enough, Kaitoa, it is a similarly sized thing.
And so. Zozo, inspection. You've cast it on the rod.
[00:53:50] Speaker E: The robe.
[00:53:52] Speaker A: Oh, the robe.
[00:53:53] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm going to on the robe.
[00:53:54] Speaker A: Okay. Now, are you just having an inspection fest? Do you just want me to say that you guys take. How long? How often can you cast this?
[00:54:02] Speaker E: It's a first level spell. I have to spend a spell slot. Or I can cast it as a ritual if we have time.
[00:54:08] Speaker A: Interesting. It's up to you. If you guys want to have a little pow wow, I'll just. I'll literally quickly run through everything you're looking at. But first and foremost, the robe is a robe of obfuscation.
[00:54:21] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:54:24] Speaker A: And this is something that like spy masters might have used during the Goblin Wars. In fact, this might be as old as the spell wars. You might be looking like a 2000 year old garment. This thing belongs in a museum. It gives a plus five to stealth checks.
[00:54:48] Speaker D: Oh, fuck.
[00:54:51] Speaker A: And it gives a plus two to ac.
[00:54:55] Speaker B: Holy.
[00:54:56] Speaker D: Oh, shit.
[00:54:58] Speaker A: And it's cut in half.
[00:55:00] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:55:01] Speaker F: So does that have it?
[00:55:03] Speaker A: Yes, exactly.
It's 2.5 to stealth and 1 to AC.
But no, I'm okay with that.
What you gather here is that this might be some piece of clothing that is bestowed, you know, upon an anointed emissary. This must be a huge responsibility to bear an item like this. Too bad it's in half. Yeah, it is not functioning, by the way. Its properties inherently require it to be whole.
[00:55:39] Speaker D: Yeah, okay.
[00:55:40] Speaker B: Okay, how's that. How's that rapier looking?
[00:55:44] Speaker A: Okay, it is a piercing rapier. It has no slicing effect to it at all. It is just a piercing. A point sword.
[00:55:57] Speaker B: Sweet.
[00:55:58] Speaker A: Okay, Robin, the rod, the brooch, the Sojourner's medallion. Kaitoa, as you open the Sojourner's medallion for the first time ever, hold it in your hand, it traces a map of everywhere you have been for the last 2000 years.
[00:56:22] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:56:23] Speaker A: And you see your travels over the last 18 months or so, down from the plains and the deserts and the scar of Monjab, down to Wii U and then up to the northwestern provinces to match. And so this soldier's medallion is giving the owner a history of themselves in the world.
[00:56:51] Speaker F: Now, can I look at this medallion of the brass towers?
[00:56:56] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:56:58] Speaker D: All this ritualist. Can we count this as a short rest?
[00:57:02] Speaker A: Well, if you guys are down here for an hour, it could be interesting. Well, I'll tell you what, Kaitoa. The brass broach seems to have no attributes other than its insignia.
You can certainly ask the other party members. But even you, as you sort of feel it in your hands and look at it, it seems like a dull brass brooch.
[00:57:27] Speaker F: Yes, I will just pocket.
Might be a key to something. Hold on to it.
[00:57:33] Speaker A: Okay, guys, it's only been 1, 2, 3, 4 minutes since you have slain the emissary. And Rook, as you kind of, you know, reel back in your morning star there.
Up to you as you look at Beleg the warlock who's angling for a short rest.
[00:57:56] Speaker D: I'd love my spell slots back.
[00:57:58] Speaker F: So, Robin, can I now using the Sojourners medallion, ask you, have I been here before?
[00:58:07] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:58:07] Speaker F: In some lifetime. And would know a clear history and mapping of the entire city.
[00:58:15] Speaker A: Yes, but I mean going forward, I.
[00:58:17] Speaker F: Could like city to city, just recall this Sojourners medallion and.
[00:58:22] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:58:23] Speaker A: Yes. This will verify whether in the current era Kaito has been there.
[00:58:28] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:58:28] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:58:29] Speaker F: Thank you.
[00:58:31] Speaker C: I feel like we should try to get in a long rest. I need to definitely get a long rested.
[00:58:38] Speaker E: So if we're gonna hit the water.
[00:58:39] Speaker C: Let'S try to get a of a ship and get a long rest in.
[00:58:45] Speaker B: That was an eight hour. An eight hour period, right?
[00:58:48] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:58:48] Speaker F: Anyone want to sleep in the sewers?
[00:58:52] Speaker D: Not opposed to it.
[00:58:53] Speaker F: Yeah, it seems like we're kind of safe down here.
[00:58:57] Speaker D: Hey, actually Kaitoa, can you go back and close the pathway door?
[00:59:04] Speaker F: How far upstream is it?
[00:59:07] Speaker A: You guys would only be 700ft away. I mean, it's a little trek. You mean to go back and close those huge flagstones? Yeah, yeah.
[00:59:21] Speaker F: Essentially could do it. I mean, how fast the current it's a trickle of water, right?
[00:59:29] Speaker A: It is not a wide canal. It's only about 10ft. And there's enough of a bank or a little muddy footpath on either side. You guys can walk along it.
[00:59:41] Speaker F: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll go up and seal it off.
Okay.
[00:59:47] Speaker A: As you guys bid farewell to Kaitoa, he's quickly going back up towards the bowels of Hugill Castle to close off your entrance. And then the four of you. What are you doing?
[00:59:59] Speaker D: Hey, guys. I had a little revelation with Leah.
That Emma's name is short for emissary.
Leah's name was short for liaison. I think they might have been the same person.
My next thought, though, was I wonder if mem is short for something to give us a clue to what he does.
It's another non name.
[01:00:23] Speaker B: It's short for Memford, Memphis and Sons.
[01:00:31] Speaker D: Just a thought.
[01:00:33] Speaker B: I guess this mace hit her face like her face is cooked.
[01:00:40] Speaker D: She looked like Leah when I saw her when we were fighting.
[01:00:43] Speaker B: Did Leah have any rad tattoos that we might be able to see?
[01:00:51] Speaker A: Okay, Steve, you are doing the CSI Beheru crouch.
[01:00:55] Speaker B: Mm.
[01:00:58] Speaker A: And do a deep squat.
[01:01:00] Speaker C: Does he pull down his sunglasses while he's doing it?
[01:01:07] Speaker B: Seems like something in these sewers stinks.
[01:01:11] Speaker A: No.
[01:01:17] Speaker F: Stinks like crime.
[01:01:22] Speaker A: Well, look, I mean, as Bella consults the party and involves you in his thought process, there's the realization that your foe was horrendously aged during the battle of the temple of Dan.
[01:01:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:01:46] Speaker A: And as you look down at her face, you know, beleg you remember your kobold raised specter draining not one, but two rounds of life away from this person.
[01:01:59] Speaker F: Well, mem was.
Well, I guess I'm not there.
Never mind.
[01:02:05] Speaker A: And Kaitoa, you know, just as you come back, you do see the party regarding the deceased husk of Emma.
[01:02:17] Speaker F: Well, mem's gone, but you think Leah would be panicking and at least worried.
And there was no sight of her at all.
[01:02:30] Speaker D: I think we just killed her.
[01:02:32] Speaker B: She'd already peaced out, though. She disappeared before we. Before we left for Izzy. She never came back.
[01:02:43] Speaker A: Steve, party. Can you roll group history as you remember when you stopped by the wizard and spear. What did that note say?
[01:02:52] Speaker D: Said she was in Lanton.
[01:02:55] Speaker A: Very well done. And yes, that was literally only about 24 to 26 hours ago.
[01:03:06] Speaker B: Are they sisters?
Could be sisters.
[01:03:09] Speaker D: That was the other thought.
[01:03:11] Speaker B: Their family.
No, Emissary.
[01:03:14] Speaker A: Liaison.
[01:03:15] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:03:17] Speaker F: Lia is a liaison to the wizard Scale.
But also like a note. Is that really, like, kind of proof? Is that.
[01:03:27] Speaker C: Yeah, note's Nothing.
[01:03:30] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you think back as well. Now that you have these construct parts around you, you think back to that desk, the countertop in the wizard and Spear, where that very note was pinned, and how it reached out to you and tried to grab you, and how it's the only thing guarding the wizard and Spear as far as you know, with mem apparently imprisoned, with Leah apparently gone to land. And.
[01:04:02] Speaker B: Yeah, that note, Leah, is the desk.
[01:04:08] Speaker A: Yeah, it's in the desk.
Well, party, I'll ask you this as you discuss.
Do you go for a short rest? Do you want to double down for a long rest and sleep in the sewers?
[01:04:28] Speaker D: We go for a long rest.
[01:04:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:04:30] Speaker C: Long rest. Do we want to do it in the sewers, or are we wanting to get on the sea and head out?
[01:04:36] Speaker D: I'm comfortable doing it here.
[01:04:39] Speaker E: Yeah, I think it's more just. Do we want to, like, get going? Because we have to get to the wizards guild.
[01:04:46] Speaker B: How is Emma going to escape from here?
Does she have a boat or something? Like, can we just continue seeing. Continue down this route to see what she was trying to get to?
[01:04:56] Speaker F: Well, can we disguise ourselves as Emmaus?
[01:05:01] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:05:03] Speaker F: And one of us can hijack her boat or her way out?
[01:05:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:09] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:05:10] Speaker F: Let's go downriver as Emis.
[01:05:13] Speaker D: But do we want, like, King to.
[01:05:15] Speaker E: Bring the rest of us back?
[01:05:17] Speaker D: Pardon?
[01:05:18] Speaker E: Emma's came, like Emma's came to bring the rest of us back.
Well, not Zozo, but the rest of the party, like Shemus was supposed to take you guys to.
[01:05:30] Speaker F: Well, we could all be like, fake arrested.
[01:05:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I think perhaps, maybe even the plan initially was to use whatever magic the scroll she had or whatever. But obviously she came down this way to escape. Maybe she had like a backup or some sort of.
Some sort of boat or something.
[01:05:51] Speaker F: She was on the run. She had note.
[01:05:54] Speaker D: Say we take at least a short rest in the sewer, regain some hit points, and I can get my spell slots back that way.
Yeah, just I don't want to pop out into people waiting for us or people waiting for her and see us or.
[01:06:08] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:06:11] Speaker A: How.
[01:06:11] Speaker F: How much time would it take for us to get out to sea?
[01:06:16] Speaker C: I think we're right there, aren't we?
[01:06:19] Speaker A: Yeah, you're barely 15 minute March if you kept along going this way. And Steve, you sort of asked a similar question a minute ago.
Where is the next point? Well, there is only one way that this underground channel or stream leads. Once you leave this pool area and you don't see and there's no moored boat there's no underground dock here. You'd have to move onwards.
[01:06:49] Speaker E: It does seem to head toward the dock.
[01:06:51] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:06:52] Speaker F: I'd be afraid that this boat would leave without her.
[01:06:56] Speaker B: I mean, even understanding which boat she had would be difficult. Going to the docks, there's boats everywhere.
[01:07:03] Speaker A: It is a half a mile to be precise to get to the docks. And to the north are the merchant docks.
[01:07:13] Speaker F: Maybe there's the medallion would be like a bit of a signal or a sign.
[01:07:20] Speaker D: The baroach, you mean?
[01:07:22] Speaker F: Yeah.
Maybe that would be a signal of like the boat you should get on. Or a signal of like your boat is this way kind of thing.
[01:07:34] Speaker A: Well, party. I will then go ahead and assume you have had a one hour short rest at the underground pool.
[01:07:43] Speaker F: Yeah, I guess we'll just sit here.
[01:07:44] Speaker A: Okay.
Underneath Bergen's gate, you have taken a short rest and you know, party now as you compose yourselves and you know, make any final arrangements for marching order.
[01:08:02] Speaker D: How does healing work in a short rest again?
[01:08:05] Speaker A: Roll as many hit dice as you have available during today's period between long rests.
[01:08:12] Speaker D: So that's one per level, right?
[01:08:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah.
[01:08:16] Speaker D: Well, I'm just gonna get to max health in a short rest then.
So we got two left.
[01:08:22] Speaker C: That's why I get a log rest.
[01:08:25] Speaker B: Yeah, I've burned through all my spells too.
[01:08:27] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:08:29] Speaker D: Yeah. Oh, I'd like to do a long rest. I'm happy to do one right here.
[01:08:33] Speaker C: I've only got two hit.
[01:08:34] Speaker D: You guys were the ones that wanted to to go forward.
[01:08:37] Speaker C: Brook is angling for long rest because two hit diesel. It's good, but it's not that good.
[01:08:44] Speaker A: Oh yeah, you guys should take a nap under Bergen's gate right now for eight hours. Wake up at two in the morning. Please do that.
[01:08:51] Speaker D: It makes the most sense.
[01:08:54] Speaker F: No, it doesn't.
[01:08:58] Speaker E: Just next to a corpse that we just burnt.
[01:09:01] Speaker A: It's like, well, we're done clocking out for the day.
[01:09:05] Speaker D: You get eight hours, then leave in the COVID a night. And then.
[01:09:11] Speaker B: Emmaus's corpse is like just taking a hot shit all over the place.
[01:09:16] Speaker D: Oh, we just throw it in the water.
[01:09:19] Speaker A: Guys. Final decision. Short or long? Short for short.
[01:09:24] Speaker B: Find a better place.
[01:09:27] Speaker A: Okay, the afternoon is just waxing now. And folks, as you compose yourselves, you've all regained your hit points. I assume it's only a 0.5 mile until you hit the sea and the docks.
And that, friends and adventurers, is where we will have to leave you. Until the next time on Dungeons and Blaggers.
[01:10:05] Speaker E: Sam.
[01:10:31] Speaker A: Sa.
Yay.
Oh yeah.
[01:11:01] Speaker E: I think I want to identify that rod as well.
[01:11:04] Speaker A: Oh, the rod. Okay. I'll give you the rod as well during. Certainly during that time. Okay. The rod is a mono material and it seems to be of a very hard wood that you could make a wand out of these very dark sort of cherry, walnut, say, and otherwise unadorned. Not a single rune, not a single glyph, not a single bit of carving or anything. And it is unclear what is the tip and what is the handle.
[01:11:44] Speaker E: Does it have any magical properties?
[01:11:47] Speaker A: And your inspection gives you a full reveal on the statistics.
[01:11:52] Speaker E: Yep. Yeah. Learn its properties and how to use them, whether it requires attunement and how many charges it has, and any spells that are affecting the item.
[01:12:01] Speaker A: I will send you that in private text.
[01:12:04] Speaker E: Okay.
[01:12:06] Speaker A: But you certainly feel this one, this one thing. Immense power is radiating from this wand.
[01:12:14] Speaker E: Okay.
[01:12:16] Speaker A: And yeah, I suppose as you guys all pecked at the corpse of Emma got your little trinkets.
Steve, you're right. There is not much left but a hot mess of the emissary.
But did you die?
[01:12:36] Speaker D: But did you die?
[01:12:37] Speaker A: But did you die?
Zozo died.
[01:12:41] Speaker E: Very nearly.
[01:12:44] Speaker A: Well, great game, guys. We will see you again next week.
[01:12:47] Speaker C: Yes, sir.
[01:12:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:12:57] Speaker D: So I never actually picked my final spell for my last level up.
[01:13:02] Speaker A: You know, I love that random warlock shit.
[01:13:05] Speaker D: Yeah, I know.
[01:13:08] Speaker F: By the way, I have this in a clutch moment.
[01:13:13] Speaker D: Yeah.
Something like dispel magic.
[01:13:18] Speaker F: You got a black magic warlock.
Santana's black magic warlock.
[01:13:25] Speaker D: Yeah, that's the one.
