Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am the dungeon master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Eric!
[00:00:16] Speaker B: I'm Eric and I'm playing Dr. Zozo Brightfeather. She is a level nine Aarakocra artificer potionsmith.
Brandon!
[00:00:25] Speaker B: I'm Ekurook Punschley. Level nine blood hunter, half orc.
Caleb!
[00:00:32] Speaker B: I'm a level nine warforged barbarian: Kaitoa Tata.
Braeden!
[00:00:40] Speaker C: Hey, I'm Braeden. I'm playing half elf, Beleg Dygar, Level 9 hexblade warlock.
Tomo!
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Hey, I'm playing Steve Tehuman. I am a Gloomstalker Ranger level five, Battle Master Fighter, level three. And I have just a little schmeck of rogue. And I have an Owl.
Vale!
[00:01:06] Speaker B: I am playing Johawk the Gnoll, a champion fighter 4, Bear totem barbarian five.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blaggards.
The Blaggards leave Polb after killing the Emissary and having recently returned from Iz with Oldfoot. They see Doraphil, who informs them that Mem is gone to the museum in Basel. They visit the Wizard and Spear and see a note, Leah is gone to Lantin. They then sail to Kozzem, and after a disastrous attack at sea, they at least survive with what they learn to be the last elf in the mimic chest.
In Maw, a Gnoll appears and adds to the party's growing collection of strange artifacts...Steve
[00:02:13] Speaker F: No idea what you're talking about.
[00:02:17] Speaker A: Realizing mid battle now in one of the brass towers in Kozzem, that they are fighting the Grist, known to be chief guardian here of the Wizard's Cliff City.
Steve disarms this creature and the Sunstone Sword goes flying down the hatch towards Rube. Kaitoa and Johawk alternately smash and Kaitoa even equips Johawk with Toxie.
Zozo really heats things up. And Rook leaves the party only with his unseen servant as he is being immolated.
Cape on fire, shield up around him, all you can see is a big old half orc meatball on fire.
And realizing now that only varying degrees of effectiveness have been done by the party as they deal different sorts of damage, his big soft metal face drips iron and brass ore everywhere.
[00:03:27] Speaker D: Right. His head got torched.
[00:03:29] Speaker A: The party's arrival and presence has clearly been marked.
Okay, guys, who here hears Rube? Let's see.
Oh, you do hear a little bit of stone and scraping from down in the hatch, but otherwise cannot really tell tell what Rube is doing down there with the Sunstone sword that Steve ejected down there.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: Be a shame if it hit Rube and did damage.
[00:04:01] Speaker F: We killed Rube with the sword.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: Now after Rube, who's up next? It's the Grist, Steve.
[00:04:11] Speaker E: Oh, the grist.
Nice.
[00:04:14] Speaker A: So, Rook, we had you take the dodge action, but this Grist is going to take a swipe. That is a 19, and it's gotta hit, Rook.
[00:04:30] Speaker C: So.
[00:04:30] Speaker A: Well, Rook, you do take nine damage.
And this beast, you know, whips around and smashes you with their tail.
[00:04:42] Speaker C: Perfect.
[00:04:44] Speaker D: Perfect.
[00:04:46] Speaker A: You are also taking, your cape takes four fire damage.
[00:04:54] Speaker E: No.
[00:04:55] Speaker C: Well, wouldn't I just drop my cape?
[00:04:57] Speaker A: You sure can.
Yeah, I'm gonna drop my cape as a reaction.
You drop your cape.
And now we are at the top of the order. Steve Tehuman.
[00:05:07] Speaker F: All right, so his head is molten and mushy.
[00:05:11] Speaker A: Still super heated by Zozo's heat metal.
[00:05:14] Speaker D: Someone freeze it.
[00:05:18] Speaker F: I wish I had something that I could freeze.
[00:05:20] Speaker D: And then we'll shatter it.
[00:05:22] Speaker F: Well, I guess if this looks like it's lost some defense, I'm going to
[00:05:28] Speaker E: Wish I had the Krizbomb...
[00:05:30] Speaker F: What I'd like to do. Yeah. First throw. Yeah, I'm gonna look for. I'm gonna use my sharpshooter skill to hit the mushiest bit.
First shot is likely going to be missed.
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Oh, what is it? 12 plus.
[00:05:45] Speaker D: Wink, wink.
[00:05:46] Speaker F: That is with the plus.
[00:05:48] Speaker A: With the plus. Well, Steve, because you've made a point of, you know, sort of observing the molten state of this creature's material. You know, you do feel like this has become easier to hit. But yeah, with the 12, you're not hitting.
[00:06:04] Speaker E: No.
[00:06:04] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:06:05] Speaker F: Second dagger is gonna get tossed. Same sort of idea.
Find it where it hurts the most.
[00:06:11] Speaker E: 21.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: Okay, so the.
[00:06:15] Speaker F: The non magical damage don't even bother with. Right?
[00:06:18] Speaker A: You feel like anything that is non magical. Zozo confirms with you is having no effect.
[00:06:26] Speaker F: So that is four damage.
[00:06:29] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:06:29] Speaker F: And then the last attack, I'm going to try and trip him up again.
[00:06:35] Speaker A: Battle master maneuver.
[00:06:37] Speaker F: Yeah, I'm gonna burn a battle master maneuver.
And this is going to be that trip attack.
25 to hit.
[00:06:45] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:06:46] Speaker F: Three magic damage.
And he has to or fall prone on a saving throw of 15.
[00:06:57] Speaker A: FAIL.
[00:06:58] Speaker F: Throw a dagger in his toe again.
Or poof. Or whatever it is.
[00:07:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:03] Speaker A: Your spike lodges between the floor floor and his iron heel and trips him up. And he is slipping backwards.
[00:07:12] Speaker F: Last turn I did, I ran up to kick that sword in the hole.
So I'm gonna try and back up as much as I can.
[00:07:20] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:07:20] Speaker A: Taking your full Movement to the edge of this round floor here in the brass towers. Anything else in your move?
[00:07:28] Speaker F: That's the. That's the entirety.
[00:07:31] Speaker A: Okay. Beleg, you are up. And as you hold the little ball of material in your hand, you know, and look at the melee fighters weapons and you know, their fruitless attacks.
[00:07:42] Speaker C: Hmm.
[00:07:43] Speaker E: Yep. I'm gonna put that little ball back in my pocket and roll a couple Hexi Dygari attacks on this motherfucker, which are all magic damage.
[00:08:00] Speaker D: What was that?
[00:08:03] Speaker E: Well, I rolled the second one just in case. That one.
[00:08:06] Speaker F: Oh, did I? Hey, Rob.
In the hole.
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Oh, last one. Yes. I did call it an inspired move. Yes. Retroactive inspiration.
[00:08:17] Speaker F: Take Steve's inspiration to re roll that shitty attack.
[00:08:21] Speaker E: Yay.
[00:08:24] Speaker A: Oh, that's so altruistic.
[00:08:27] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:08:27] Speaker C: What?
[00:08:28] Speaker F: I take back my inspiration.
[00:08:33] Speaker E: Beleg is burning his own inspiration. I just rolled a 2 plus 8
[00:08:39] Speaker B: and grist is is prone right now.
[00:08:41] Speaker A: You do have advantage on him.
[00:08:43] Speaker E: Oh, that's good. Okay. I rolled a 2 plus 8 and then a 3 plus 8 and then a 5 plus 8. So I don't know if 13 hits.
[00:08:52] Speaker F: If you got advantage.
[00:08:53] Speaker B: You get one more roll.
[00:08:54] Speaker A: You get one more roll. But 13 does not hit.
[00:08:59] Speaker E: Hey. 16.
[00:09:01] Speaker A: With the encouragement from Steve and the wink from Dr. Zozo saying, hey, go for that guy again. You finally hit.
[00:09:12] Speaker E: That's brutal.
[00:09:14] Speaker D: That's fucked.
[00:09:16] Speaker E: It's fucked. Okay, three plus eight.
So 11 magical slashing damage.
[00:09:24] Speaker A: Three plus eight, 11 magical slashing damage. Okay. And you take a nice glaive swipe into this creature.
[00:09:38] Speaker C: All right.
[00:09:38] Speaker E: With my bonus action.
Oh, this actually. Actually gets pretty nice now with my little. My little butt end pull arm.
[00:09:46] Speaker A: Master, come around with the D6 bludgeoning.
[00:09:50] Speaker E: Yeah, but I think I add my normal damage modifiers to it. My damage. So with when they're Hex Blade cursed, I add my charisma to damage.
[00:10:02] Speaker A: Oh, that's why the plus eight. Oh, wow.
[00:10:04] Speaker E: Yeah. So it's plus eight to damage. I'm pretty sure that roll attack on the butt end then also at advantage.
[00:10:11] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:10:13] Speaker E: 17 plus 8. I would assume that hits.
[00:10:17] Speaker A: Oh yeah.
[00:10:18] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:10:19] Speaker B: Sweet.
[00:10:19] Speaker E: So that's a D4 plus 8. 11 damage. Bludgeoning.
[00:10:25] Speaker A: Anything else in your move?
[00:10:27] Speaker E: Nope, just staring them down.
Hope those are death saving throws.
[00:10:33] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you are up.
And Vale, you are on deck. And then smoldering Rook, you are after Johawk. Then Zozo.
[00:10:45] Speaker D: He's still prone, right?
[00:10:47] Speaker A: Prone and just took a swipe.
[00:10:51] Speaker D: So that's advantage to attack, right? Aye, I'm gonna. Great weapon mastery this mofo.
17 to hit.
[00:11:03] Speaker E: I think that hits.
[00:11:03] Speaker B: I'm pretty sure it's I think a 16 hit earlier.
[00:11:06] Speaker E: Yeah, it was 16 back before.
[00:11:09] Speaker A: So everybody senses a change to this creature's defenses. But this definitely hits Kaitoa.
[00:11:18] Speaker B: Okay, thank God. Change up or down?
[00:11:21] Speaker D: Okay, let's see.
[00:11:23] Speaker A: Johawk. The party in general senses it has become easier to hit the creature.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: Perfect.
[00:11:31] Speaker D: Okay, so 29 to damage.
[00:11:36] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:11:39] Speaker D: Plus plus a D8 Thunder damage if he beats a con of 12.
[00:11:46] Speaker A: Oh yeah. If he fails con, he fails.
[00:11:49] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:11:50] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:11:51] Speaker D: 29. So 34 damage.
[00:11:58] Speaker F: Skull physical though.
[00:12:00] Speaker A: Whoa.
That was some of the Vodog. Okay. Is that your first attack? Anything else in your roof?
[00:12:06] Speaker D: Yeah, my second attack.
[00:12:07] Speaker A: Second attack.
[00:12:08] Speaker D: My second attack misses. I bet I'm gonna take an inspo. That's all right.
[00:12:13] Speaker A: Yep. Burn that thing.
[00:12:15] Speaker D: Oh, it's a 10.
[00:12:18] Speaker A: 10 plus modifiers.
[00:12:20] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:12:22] Speaker A: Oh, you're not hitting in this case.
[00:12:26] Speaker A: Well, at least I did.
[00:12:27] Speaker D: What? 34 damage.
[00:12:29] Speaker B: I'm okay with that.
[00:12:31] Speaker F: Huge damage, right?
[00:12:33] Speaker A: A huge hit, but then a whiffle from the living construct. And you are up Johawk.
[00:12:42] Speaker B: But I'm going to say that's all you got. And then hit him with the Warhammer. Assume a natural 18 hits.
[00:12:48] Speaker A: Yeah. This hefty toxic warhammer.
[00:12:52] Speaker B: 50 12. Right?
[00:12:54] Speaker A: Yeah. This thing is badass.
[00:12:56] Speaker D: Hey, Johawk. Rented weapon.
[00:13:00] Speaker B: Nine damage.
[00:13:02] Speaker A: Okay. And now we know that is all acid damage.
[00:13:06] Speaker B: Yeah, actually I forgot the plus one.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: So 10 acid. Okay. A sizzling. And that shoulder that you're working on is nearly 100% rent off.
[00:13:22] Speaker B: Oh mercy. I'm gonna attack again.
That's bad. So that's only 13.
[00:13:28] Speaker A: Oh, you feel you are within an inch
[00:13:32] Speaker B: I'll burn my last inspiration.
[00:13:34] Speaker F: All right.
[00:13:34] Speaker A: I was gonna say you got an inspo in the bank.
[00:13:37] Speaker B: Sixteen that hits.
Yes. That's what I'm talking about.
Mostly a seven plus five, which is 12 acid damage.
[00:13:47] Speaker A: Well, your first hit there before you burned the Inspo, glanced off part of his intact, brittle skin. But then you come back around and delve right back in to the open caustic wound.
[00:14:03] Speaker B: Vicious.
[00:14:05] Speaker E: We in the beer industry understand caustic wounds all too well.
[00:14:08] Speaker C: Yeah. Slow burn.
[00:14:11] Speaker A: Johawk. Anything else in your move?
[00:14:17] Speaker B: I'm going to move to a position where I better flank with Beleg. I'm circling around.
[00:14:24] Speaker A: Love it.
[00:14:24] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:14:25] Speaker B: And that'll be my turn.
[00:14:27] Speaker A: So you inch your way closer to this creature's massive tail. And now you and Beleg and Rook and Kaitoa kind of have them on all four sides. And then Dr. Zozo and Steve and Stolas out there in the wings.
Rook, you are up.
[00:14:46] Speaker C: Okay. Is that little white orb beside me the healing orb?
[00:14:51] Speaker D: The kodamas.
Kobama Care.
[00:14:54] Speaker A: The five foot cube of healing kodamas.
[00:14:59] Speaker C: So what's the effect if I sidestep through that bad boy?
[00:15:04] Speaker F: When you pass through, you get a D6.
Or if you start your turn in the sphere.
[00:15:11] Speaker E: Am I touching it?
[00:15:12] Speaker B: According to Roll20 right now, apparently we're all touching it.
[00:15:15] Speaker E: Oh, I. We have a rapport.
I get along great with the Kobamas and the kobamas get along great with me.
[00:15:23] Speaker F: Hey, Kobamas love everybody.
[00:15:26] Speaker B: Thanks. Kobamas love everybody.
[00:15:33] Speaker C: I can't tell if you guys are saying kodamas or Obamas.
[00:15:37] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:15:37] Speaker E: Kobamas.
[00:15:40] Speaker A: Rook, if you want to include shimmying, like shimmying three feet into the Kobama Care has no effect other than subtracting from your movement. But you are staring down the Grist. You are in point blank range.
[00:15:55] Speaker C: Okay. And I've got my voltaic machete and longsword. I am going to keep the shield just because of my proximity for this one. And I'm going to imbue my voltaic machete with my, well, I heard Kaitoa say something about cold, you know, and hitting him with a cold. I'm gonna imbue my voltaic machete with that rite.
[00:16:21] Speaker A: Rite of the frozen cold damage, your blade becomes frosty and. Sorry, did you hit? Did you roll the hit?
[00:16:29] Speaker C: I haven't rolled, so I will roll with that.
I'm aiming for the head because I heard Kaitoa say cold damage to head
[00:16:37] Speaker F: and you get an advantage because he's still prone.
[00:16:40] Speaker D: He's laying on the ground, so. Yeah.
[00:16:42] Speaker C: All right. Well, my first one was a non natural 20.
My second one's an 18. So first one, take the 20.
[00:16:51] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
[00:16:53] Speaker C: Well done, the 20. And it's gonna be eight plus another six of my rite cold damage. So that's gonna be 14, 36 total.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: Whoa.
[00:17:08] Speaker C: Or, sorry. 28.
[00:17:10] Speaker D: Yeah, sorry. Like I just picture like this molten hot goo with a stabbing cold popsicle going into it.
[00:17:20] Speaker C: It's a lightning charge and a cold damage. So the lightning charge and the voltaic machete's extra magical. And then the. Yeah, the cold from my rite.
Well done. So 28. Sorry.
[00:17:32] Speaker A: Epic hits.
[00:17:35] Speaker C: And then I'm gonna shimmy over to that Kobamacare.
[00:17:39] Speaker D: Is that the Orcish shimmy?
[00:17:41] Speaker C: So that gives me a 1D8, the Orcish slide.
[00:17:45] Speaker A: You look over to Steve and ask him what kind of coverage you get with Kobama Care.
[00:17:53] Speaker C: Steve, is this a D8 or what am I doing here?
[00:17:56] Speaker D: Depends on what you paid into it.
[00:17:58] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:17:59] Speaker C: When you go.
[00:17:59] Speaker F: When you go through it, or if you start your turn in it, you get a D6.
[00:18:03] Speaker C: How long does this thing stick around for?
[00:18:06] Speaker F: 10 rounds.
[00:18:07] Speaker B: I don't know how many rounds.
[00:18:08] Speaker C: We've been doing D6. Okay, well, I'm gonna pass through it, but I'm gonna keep my right leg in it. He puts his right leg in, his right leg out.
[00:18:16] Speaker F: In the five foot zone.
Then you get that D6.
[00:18:21] Speaker D: Oh, yeah.
[00:18:21] Speaker F: A little kodaba kisses your toe.
[00:18:23] Speaker A: Gotta be in the zone.
Speaking of the zone, Dr. Zozo, Dr. Zozo.
[00:18:32] Speaker B: All right, well, Zozo just remembered something that may change her strategy.
She recalls reading about the gargoyles and how fire damage will actually heal it, but make it easier to hit.
[00:18:51] Speaker D: I imagine though, like a molten hot head and you stick something cold, it could blow.
[00:18:56] Speaker B: Blow it up.
Yeah, yeah, the the cold damage definitely hurt it, but the fire damage, I think has been healing it.
[00:19:04] Speaker F: No more fire damage.
[00:19:05] Speaker B: Yeah, it's been making it easier to hit. Like it reduces its AC, but. All right.
[00:19:12] Speaker A: Okay, so Zozo, you realize and you inform the party that your heat metal has been healing the creature for an amount equal to the damage the attack would have inflicted. But the gargoyle's AC has dropped to 14.
[00:19:32] Speaker D: Okay, which I like.
[00:19:35] Speaker A: And you are up, my feathered friend.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: I think she is going to, well, okay, well, yeah, she's not going to do any fire damage with heat metal.
So on each turn I can use a bonus action to cause that fire damage, but it doesn't say that if I don't cause the damage that the spell ends.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: That's a great distinction. No, I think if Zozo is trying to weave and craft your heat metal to have the AC lowering effect, but you choose not to deal the superheating damage.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: Yeah, I think she's just gonna keep it on a low simmer.
[00:20:20] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
You turn down the element to simmer.
[00:20:25] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:20:26] Speaker A: Oh that's a good episode title.
[00:20:29] Speaker E: Okay,
[00:20:31] Speaker A: so in this case, essentially it's great for your action economy too, Zozo, because you're not using your bonus action, right?
[00:20:39] Speaker E: Sorry, guys, I still can't hear you.
[00:20:41] Speaker A: We can hear you just fine, buddy. We can hear you.
[00:20:44] Speaker D: Zozo's doing turn down for what?
[00:20:47] Speaker B: Yeah, okay. So she is. Yeah, she's gonna dig around in her pack a little and mix together a little acid reaction, like some alchemical acid. She mixes that up in a little bottle and then tosses it over at Grist.
[00:21:05] Speaker A: Okay, so a small vial of glass there containing an alchemical acidic brew deals how much damage and do they need to make any kind of save?
[00:21:16] Speaker B: I don't think they get to make a save. It's 4D6 plus 4.
[00:21:21] Speaker A: Gosh.
[00:21:22] Speaker D: 4D6 plus 4. Holy fuck.
[00:21:25] Speaker B: 17 acid damage.
[00:21:27] Speaker A: You blow a hole right in his side.
[00:21:33] Speaker D: Sweet.
[00:21:35] Speaker C: Side splitting action.
[00:21:38] Speaker E: lol
[00:21:40] Speaker A: green green orange hot caustic iron brass ore is now splattering around the room. Dr. Zozo, anything else in your move?
[00:21:52] Speaker B: I think I'm gonna move just around the edge of the room to a spot where he won't be able to get me and somebody else in the cone of fire if he tries that again.
[00:22:02] Speaker A: Little bit of maneuvering.
[00:22:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:04] Speaker E: Yeah.
Meta.
[00:22:06] Speaker A: So Zozo, you are. You're comfortable now with your position on this floor of the Brass Tower. You've kind of made many targets now for the Iron Gargoyle.
[00:22:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:16] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:22:17] Speaker B: And that'll be the end of my turn.
[00:22:19] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:22:19] Speaker F: Stolas doing that good. Poop and swoop. Yeah.
Taking a shit. Someone gets advantage on the next.
The next attack.
[00:22:29] Speaker A: Lovely. And another little bowel movement from the owl really distracts this creature. Who remember now, only one glowing red eye left.
Rube at the bottom of the order is going to do something unknown to the party. And now the Grist is up.
Then the Grist will use half their movement to stand up after being assaulted by this party's various machinations.
And they turn towards the wielder of the Elven blade.
[00:23:12] Speaker E: Hit me, bitch.
[00:23:14] Speaker A: This Iron Gargoyle makes two claw and one bite attack.
All on you.
Three plus eight is not going to hit. As if.
[00:23:27] Speaker E: Was that all on me? You cut out for a second there.
[00:23:29] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. So the first two claw attacks miss Beleg.
[00:23:34] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:23:34] Speaker A: And here comes a bite. This was some awful rolls.
Okay, how do you feel about 23 versus AC?
[00:23:44] Speaker E: That. That feels pretty adequate.
[00:23:48] Speaker A: Hit 1 D10 plus 4.
That's almost the max.
12 piercing damage. And 2D 6 fire damage. Okay, so 12 piercing, 6 fire.
[00:24:01] Speaker E: Okay, so that was 18 total. Right?
[00:24:05] Speaker A: Aye.
[00:24:07] Speaker E: So Grist takes 25 cold damage.
[00:24:10] Speaker A: Is that the armor of Agathys hitting back?
[00:24:13] Speaker E: Yep.
[00:24:14] Speaker A: And we know that cold damage is. Oh boy.
[00:24:16] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:24:20] Speaker E: That's all I have. Yeah. 25. 25 cold damage and. Okay, still temporary hit points. So I still have some armor of Agathys. So he's gonna take at least one more hit at that.
[00:24:30] Speaker A: Beleg, can you describe how your armor of Agathys appears to render this iron gargoyle inert.
[00:24:46] Speaker E: So as soon as Grist attacks Beleg and hits the armor, crazy blue ice shooting up all the way up to his head until they reach his eye and his eyes just like freeze and he falls back. That's how I envisioned it.
[00:25:07] Speaker A: That is exactly how the party sees your armor of Agathys finish the Grist.
[00:25:16] Speaker E: Yay.
[00:25:16] Speaker A: Yay, party. You are out of immediate initiative.
[00:25:23] Speaker B: Double tap with the acid hammer.
[00:25:27] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah.
[00:25:30] Speaker A: Free shot. Coming in with a free shot.
[00:25:32] Speaker D: I was gonna battle of Hoth his ass and wrap his legs out, take him down again, and like grapple him.
[00:25:41] Speaker E: I also had a turn before that.
There's. There was a. There were a lot of death opportunities.
[00:25:47] Speaker D: Yeah, it's okay. Yeah, it's okay. I'll save it.
[00:25:50] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:25:51] Speaker A: And as the party, as they're prone to do in moments of, you know, extreme tension when the world is, you know, revolving all around them, have a laissez faire attitude. As this fearsome creature is now rendered to cold bits and shards and pieces.
[00:26:15] Speaker B: How intact is the face?
[00:26:17] Speaker A: Well. Right. Anybody who wants to come in and double tap will be rolling on same AC now it's hardened. So back to 16 AC. And you can sure keep on dealing damage whoever wants to.
[00:26:29] Speaker D: Robin, this was a golem, right?
[00:26:32] Speaker A: This was the chief gargoyle that I think Zozo did inform you was a type of large manufactured construct, at least in this world.
[00:26:45] Speaker D: Kaitoa starts like digging around looking for a lodestone.
[00:26:52] Speaker A: Investigation Kaitoa, and Johawk, are you smashing bits into smaller bits?
[00:26:56] Speaker B: How intact is the head?
[00:26:58] Speaker A: It's as intact as the rest. Like half a head. There's an eye.
[00:27:05] Speaker B: Imagine if I brought this home to my wife and I start trying to cut the head off with the hammer.
[00:27:13] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:27:14] Speaker E: Beleg walks up with a pottery wheel and starts spinning the grist's head, trying to make a nice vase.
[00:27:25] Speaker D: Robin, I got a 14 minus one for investigation.
[00:27:29] Speaker A: Okay. Well, Beleg, in the same moment that you aid the gnoll in kind of removing what is this huge caved out sunken iron skull.
The little bit of dust on your hands felt like the debris from holding that little chunk of iron ore. All of a sudden, seems to make the gnoll's weapon more effective.
And Kaitoa, you do not find a lodestone at all. This creature seems to be more like that clay golem, all made out of one material and then infused with some kind of magic.
[00:28:13] Speaker E: Yeah. So that's all the, like the dust that's left on my hand from the orb that Tellfate or Telltale or whatever, whatever we call her in canon gave me and told me that I figured out that it was a part of the grist or the same material.
Having that material on my hands made it more vulnerable.
[00:28:33] Speaker A: You realize, Beleg, a bit too late, that of course, like silvering a weapon against werewolves, you might have applied this material to the party's traditional damage weapons and overcome the immunities.
[00:28:53] Speaker E: Sorry, boys.
I used a real powerful combat tool as an intimidation tool and it did nothing for us.
I'll be better next time.
I still killed it!
[00:29:12] Speaker F: I think it was Stolas's poop that killed it.
[00:29:17] Speaker D: Robin, can we see down to the sunstone sword that fell down?
[00:29:22] Speaker A: Yes, if you peer down there. There it is, lodged in Rube.
[00:29:31] Speaker D: Hey, guys,
[00:29:34] Speaker B: how far down did it fall in? Or is he swallowing it?
[00:29:37] Speaker A: Interestingly enough, so Steve knocked it down the hole, you know, Kaitoa party, you're looking down there. You know, this thing is about 10 to 12ft long. It's a huge sword. So if you're going down there, shooting down there, you shooting right into the jello.
[00:29:52] Speaker D: I could like potentially shoot down, grab this thing, pierce it, and fish it back up.
[00:29:59] Speaker E: If you guys are willing to hang out because.
Yeah, yeah. Part of my Pact of the Blade is that I can spend an hour to attune with a weapon and then recall it whenever I want.
[00:30:15] Speaker D: An hour, though?
[00:30:17] Speaker B: How big is this sun stone sword?
[00:30:18] Speaker E: It's an hour, so it's. It's in dnd time. An hour is not that long, man.
[00:30:24] Speaker B: Well, an hour to dissolve the, the sword.
[00:30:31] Speaker E: I get attuned to it and recall it whenever I want if you guys want me to.
[00:30:36] Speaker F: I don't know how fast Rube is going to burn through it, but.
[00:30:39] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, once.
[00:30:40] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly. I'm thinking, like, I'm just going to, like, shoot things if anyone's got inspo to help.
[00:30:47] Speaker E: All I know is I don't want to be Rube's enemy, ever.
[00:30:51] Speaker D: No, but I'm not.
Rube's a gelatinous cube and like,
[00:30:57] Speaker E: Arch mage. Gelatinous cube?
[00:31:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:01] Speaker E: Have you ever seen Archmage in the monster manual, man?
[00:31:06] Speaker D: Yeah, but he didn't really do anything for us there.
[00:31:10] Speaker D: And it was like if Rube was on our side, he gave me a, oh, yeah.
[00:31:13] Speaker E: He didn't do anything for us except giving Zozo like a ninth level spell
[00:31:18] Speaker F: Oh. Hit him with that prismatic spray. And then when the hole is big, sort of.
[00:31:24] Speaker D: So how about I shoot? Shoot my thing in like my.
[00:31:28] Speaker C: Well, you just ask Rube for it?
[00:31:31] Speaker B: Zozo just calls down. Hey, Rube, can we have that sword?
Okay, this is going on. I'm gonna try and step into the healing Kodamas.
[00:31:38] Speaker C: Yeah, I want a kodama. Kodama Care over here.
[00:31:42] Speaker A: Rook and Johawk. Kobama Care is right at the hatch.
Zozo, Kaitoa, you hear some popping and it says this meaning y
[00:31:59] Speaker E: Go fuck yourself.
[00:32:01] Speaker D: Go fuck yourself.
[00:32:03] Speaker A: Don't worry about the sword.
Look behind you.
[00:32:09] Speaker E: Okay, how fast does Kaitoa relay that?
[00:32:12] Speaker D: Yeah, and I relay that right away.
[00:32:16] Speaker A: Everybody make a perception check.
[00:32:19] Speaker B: Great.
[00:32:21] Speaker E: Beleg's great at these.
That's an 18 for. That's an. That's an 18 for Beleg
[00:32:28] Speaker B: 14 for Zozo.
[00:32:30] Speaker C: We're gonna have to see photo evidence of this Beleg
[00:32:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:32:34] Speaker D: Kaitoa's got a 12.
[00:32:35] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:32:37] Speaker C: Ooh. Natural 20. 21.
[00:32:39] Speaker F: That's 28 for Steve.
[00:32:41] Speaker A: Okay. Johawk.
[00:32:43] Speaker B: Eight.
[00:32:43] Speaker A: Eight. Okay. Kaitoa, although you are the one to alert the party, it is only Rook and Steve that notice a sorcerer or a wizard in some type of cloak bampfing away. You guys just missed a bampf.
And as the party now looks around you are imminent, aware of the fact that eyes are upon you. Hovering outside all of the six windows on this level are these little tiny animalistic gargoyles.
They are not bouncing off the glass or pinging off. They are just hovering there looking in on the party. Must be three or four dozen.
[00:33:39] Speaker D: Rube, can you fit in my pouch?
Can we take some gelatin Rube with us?
[00:33:46] Speaker A: Rube pops back to you communicating that. You know, the last time he tried to escape, he lost his arm.
[00:33:56] Speaker D: Well, you don't have arms anymore, so
[00:33:59] Speaker C: Kaitoa doesn't feel whole unless he's lugging.
[00:34:02] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly.
[00:34:04] Speaker A: Kaitoa, can you roll a Persuasion.
A new backpack pet?
[00:34:11] Speaker C: What?
[00:34:12] Speaker D: I got 14.
[00:34:14] Speaker A: Rube starts to squish upwards into your guy's level through the five foot opening. And it looks like the sword is coming up with them. So it's like, you know, you're pushing a whole huge amount of jelly up through a bottleneck and there's a sword inside it. What's everybody doing?
[00:34:33] Speaker E: Beleg gets staying as close to Rube as possible to try and attune to this sword.
[00:34:37] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:34:37] Speaker D: I'd like, to coax him even more. And if anyone can help me out
[00:34:42] Speaker C: with this roll, I'm going to do my Grim Psychometry on the eyes and the presence that we're feeling in the room.
[00:34:51] Speaker A: Rook, how long does Grim Psychometry take?
[00:34:54] Speaker C: 10 minutes.
[00:34:55] Speaker A: 10? Okay, 10, guys. You begin to see Rook and, you know, put his hand to his temples. I will tell you immediately you begin to feel Scrying eyes.
Kaitoa, when you say, hop into my pocket, like, you realize that rube is 15 by 15 square feet.
Like, he's a large creature that is bigger than the entire party.
[00:35:26] Speaker D: But if he's gelatin, what defines like, if he's a giant mass cube, then, therefore, he could split himself in.
[00:35:32] Speaker E: Do you not remember the smaller, smaller Rube? Small Rube sucks.
[00:35:37] Speaker B: Yeah, Nube.
[00:35:38] Speaker A: I'm just understanding. No, no. Okay, so you're talking about the theory in your mind right now that Nube existed and he was a smaller offshoot. Although your party begins to warn you, yeah, Nube just seemed to be, like, voraciously hungry. Okay. I'm gonna leave the party in this moment for, you know, five minutes. You guys can absolutely keep on discussing. And these. Oh, boy. Yeah, there's. There's more of them. There's got to be, like, five or six dozen of these strange, silent, winged gargoyles now all collected around your floor.
[00:36:13] Speaker D: There's always room for jello and
[00:36:18] Speaker B: Kaitoa.
[00:36:19] Speaker A: Something.
[00:36:19] Speaker D: And Kaito is gonna fill himself with all the jello he can.
There's always room.
[00:36:27] Speaker B: Is Rube gonna get in the way of the kodamas? Are we able to move those?
[00:36:31] Speaker F: Yeah, Steve can move them, like, 30ft.
[00:36:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:36:33] Speaker E: What happens if Rube gets healed by the kodamas?
[00:36:36] Speaker F: So I can just put it in, like, a nicer spot?
[00:36:39] Speaker D: I'm willing to, like, try and pocket Rube.
[00:36:43] Speaker E: He's like a. I mean, I would assume it's like a top five most powerful being.
I refuse to infanticize him. And you should not just say, come on, buddy.
[00:36:56] Speaker C: Okay, is there somewhere else to go out of this room other than down? Like, we got to go up, right?
[00:37:02] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, we got.
[00:37:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:37:04] Speaker D: If he wants out, then I want to get Rube out of here.
And if that sword is coming up
[00:37:10] Speaker F: with him, then, yeah, he's pushing his body through the. Through the portal.
[00:37:17] Speaker E: This is mostly Beleg trying to attune to a giant ass sword that he can keep in the.
[00:37:24] Speaker C: Like, I don't know if we have an. If we have an hour for you to attune to it with kind of the presence of these Eyes.
[00:37:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:31] Speaker F: We don't even know if Rube is like taking this thing apart though either.
[00:37:36] Speaker E: This has been like. It's a slow climb up these rooms. It's a lot of downtime. As long as I stay close to it, I can attune.
[00:37:43] Speaker D: I. I think an hour is like a lot of time
[00:37:48] Speaker E: spent in these towers.
[00:37:50] Speaker B: Total.
[00:37:50] Speaker E: It's been a long.
[00:37:51] Speaker F: Maybe it may be that Rube is keeping the sword from these little gargoyle guys too. Like there's.
[00:37:58] Speaker E: I just want to have a connection to it.
[00:37:59] Speaker C: But we're gonna have to fight off these wizards probably.
[00:38:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:38:03] Speaker C: In short order.
[00:38:04] Speaker E: Yeah. We're not. We're not fighting wizards. These guys are like bringing in all like more gargoyles.
[00:38:11] Speaker D: My fear is that someone just warped in and watched us.
So they can just like jump in and us up clearly. Rube was like, look behind you and someone is there.
[00:38:24] Speaker C: Have we tried jumping out of these towers by the chanting that got us here in the first place?
[00:38:32] Speaker E: It is.
[00:38:32] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:38:33] Speaker E: It's totally a possibility.
[00:38:34] Speaker B: We killed the grist. That was one of our main objectives.
And we did.
[00:38:40] Speaker D: Done.
And we have. I think we didn't. You guys chop off the molten head.
[00:38:47] Speaker B: I'll be cutting off his head.
[00:38:49] Speaker A: Yeah. You can add to your inventory the now cooled down head of the grist.
[00:38:56] Speaker C: Did anybody check him for anything else?
[00:38:59] Speaker A: Kaitoa did a thorough inspection. It all seemed to be, you know, the cooled, brittle material.
[00:39:08] Speaker B: Perfect.
[00:39:09] Speaker D: Can I. Can I say, like, do you want to come with us? Can you separate?
A couple of mournful pops come back to you, and the party, you know, hears you translate, can't speak, can't cast, and can't leave the tower. So this is what it communicates back to you, Kaitoa.
[00:39:36] Speaker F: Can anyone Polymorph?
[00:39:38] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:39:39] Speaker F: I can polymorph him, change him into a dog.
[00:39:42] Speaker D: Yeah. Can we?
[00:39:43] Speaker E: That's actually an incredibly interesting idea Tomo.
[00:39:52] Speaker A: Rube begins popping voraciously.
[00:39:55] Speaker D: Can I translate that?
[00:39:57] Speaker A: He says, Careful. More skilled hands have failed at reversing a long term polymorph.
[00:40:10] Speaker B: Bitch. You don't know how skilled my hands are.
[00:40:12] Speaker F: He's got two different kinds of hands.
[00:40:15] Speaker C: Rob, how much time's gone by for my grim psychometry?
[00:40:20] Speaker A: Okay, we'll say at the moment the real time has passed. So 10 minutes has passed. And ominous. Although the eyes are about you, rook and party at large, these strange gargoyles.
As you determine that there is indeed scrying occurring here in a mass way you feel dozens of and sorry you rolled a 16 plus modifiers.
[00:40:50] Speaker C: That is yeah.
[00:40:51] Speaker A: You feel dozens of young minds have been collectively scrying and you sense a rigid little goat flocks and very oppressive schedule going on here at the Wizards City.
[00:41:15] Speaker D: Can I use the artist as to actually just like scrub out you and I. I'm just gonna. I'm gonna paint all the windows shut with the artist as though I see through that.
[00:41:33] Speaker A: Oh, and yes, as you know, when you go up with your artist's ads, you know, the moment you sort of touch something, the whole thing, you know, becomes the color that you want it to. So you could, you could pull the blinds down and you could cover the windows, but you would now no longer be seeing it out.
[00:41:48] Speaker B: Nope.
[00:41:49] Speaker C: I guess the other thing too is. So if we're doing the odamas here, I mean, it's going to expire. So are we rolling six times, Rob, or what's the.
[00:41:58] Speaker A: Roll it up. Everybody rounds five to six.
[00:42:03] Speaker D: Yeah, beautiful.
[00:42:04] Speaker E: Am I,
[00:42:06] Speaker A: of course rolling?
[00:42:08] Speaker E: Okay, sweet.
[00:42:08] Speaker B: Even.
[00:42:09] Speaker E: Even while staying and trying to attune to the sword.
[00:42:13] Speaker A: Yes. I will say that your ankle's still getting that wonderful massage, so you need an hour to attune to a weapon.
[00:42:20] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:42:21] Speaker D: I pick you up and I put you in it.
[00:42:25] Speaker B: Your.
[00:42:26] Speaker A: Your patron also, you know, plays a role in your ability to, you know, conjure these weapons.
[00:42:34] Speaker E: So he keeps sitting beside it.
[00:42:36] Speaker C: Man.
[00:42:36] Speaker E: Okay, but also with an ankle in the kodamas.
[00:42:41] Speaker A: Wonderful.
[00:42:42] Speaker F: It's just one little toe in there.
[00:42:44] Speaker E: Whole splits right now. One foot in attunement range, one foot in kodama range.
[00:42:50] Speaker C: Kodamas is gonna go away though. Like I think you very soon roll and then you're gonna be maxed out and then you stick close to it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You don't need to keep a toe in it. You just roll that bad boy up
[00:43:02] Speaker A: and then you just follow the mental image of Beleg doing a full on like karate master split.
One foot in one realm and one foot. The JCVD.
[00:43:13] Speaker B: Yeah, buddy.
[00:43:14] Speaker D: Oh, he's.
[00:43:15] Speaker E: He is, yeah. He's full on doing the Jean Claude.
[00:43:18] Speaker C: Jesus.
[00:43:19] Speaker E: That looks.
[00:43:20] Speaker F: Wow.
[00:43:21] Speaker E: But with a glaive
[00:43:25] Speaker A: friends, I will say you are. Look, you're 15 minutes, you are one quarter into the hour.
You know, Rook, I don't know what you do do. You inform the party of what, your insights are given to you. And again, you know, that deep rumbling voice communicates to your, you know, to your present mind what we talked about there. There's many prying eyes.
[00:43:52] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm gonna let the group know that, you know, we are being watched and that, you know, we're gonna continue to face
[00:43:58] Speaker E: Beleg flips off all of them.
[00:44:02] Speaker B: Let them come after.
[00:44:04] Speaker C: We're gonna continue to face like continuing battles if we don't make moves and get out of here.
[00:44:11] Speaker A: So Gnoll, you are done putting on your heavy armor, right?
[00:44:16] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:44:16] Speaker B: We have time to take a brief rest, so that way I can spend some dice..
[00:44:22] Speaker F: Short rest.
[00:44:24] Speaker A: Yes. You're a quarter of the way, all of you, to achieving what you would call a short rest.
But you know, with Rook's information, with Kaitoa going to the windows and painting it over and with Beleg engaging in something that we know is going to take an hour, the healing kodamas run out, right? They just. They just peter out.
[00:44:47] Speaker C: I'm gonna, yeah, I'm gonna let the guys know we probably don't have enough time for a short rest. We're gonna be disrupted if we try to do that.
[00:44:53] Speaker D: even if they want to, I'm gonna stand guard during that 15 minutes.
[00:45:00] Speaker B: I want to cast identify as a ritual on Rube that will tell me what spells, if any, are currently affecting him.
[00:45:08] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:45:09] Speaker A: Well, you can make a DC12 grapple check with advantage.
And you know, obviously he has not split down or hopped into anybody's pocket.
Kaitoa, what kind of paint and what color have you used? Is it semi translucent? Are you letting any sunlight in? Like, how does it look now?
[00:45:30] Speaker D: I'm going for Rube Green.
[00:45:33] Speaker A: Toxic Rube Green.
[00:45:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:36] Speaker D: So it just looks like Rube is Toxic Rube Green.
[00:45:40] Speaker E: Sounds like a wrestler's name.
[00:45:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:43] Speaker A: I am Toxic Rube Green.
Yeah. Interesting. I'm gonna roll something on the outside here.
[00:45:51] Speaker D: Yeah. I want it to look like we moved up a level.
[00:45:55] Speaker A: Kaitoa, I'm gonna award you
[00:45:57] Speaker F: drawn a picture of Rube on the.
[00:46:04] Speaker E: Just a face.
[00:46:05] Speaker A: I'm going to award you inspiration, Kaitoa.
[00:46:10] Speaker D: Thank you.
And. And we all pretend to float around.
[00:46:15] Speaker F: Everyone make popping sounds.
[00:46:17] Speaker C: Everyone.
[00:46:18] Speaker D: Everyone float. Like pretend to float.
[00:46:20] Speaker A: Zozo, what did you end up doing and and wanting to do with your identify?
[00:46:25] Speaker B: I failed the grapple check.
[00:46:27] Speaker A: Oh, okay. So you are caught a little bit,
[00:46:30] Speaker B: but I think I'll. I'll just stay stuck. Like, is it just like my arm is stuck?
[00:46:35] Speaker A: Your feathered arm as you were just hoping to just kind of touch the creature to, what, affect your spell?
[00:46:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:43] Speaker A: Rube, now to you, Zozo, is going to try and not give you 3D6 acid damage.
It could be worse. But you take 11 acid damage.
[00:46:58] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:47:00] Speaker A: However you're able to do your spell.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: Okay. So I learned what spells are currently affecting Rube.
[00:47:10] Speaker A: You see now the popping stop.
And it seems like they're having some sort of a mind meld.
And Zozo, you're no longer talking to a popping gelatinous cube. You seem to be interfacing with somebody that was once a humanoid.
[00:47:31] Speaker B: Okay.
What spells are affecting them?
[00:47:34] Speaker A: What spells are affecting them?
There's a flood of spell knowledge like a river coming at your big owl brain, Dr. Zozo. And there are so many spells here dancing around, you find it hard to pinpoint one. But you do feel that hunch you were on before. Something like a long term permanent polymorph has happened here, maybe mixed with some arcane rule breaking and yeah, the humanoid figure now begins to kind of dissipate. You didn't quite get a great look at them, but you do get the sense that in some way this is virtually irreversible. Except if you had a very powerful, confident caster.
[00:48:25] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:48:26] Speaker E: I'm pretty powerful and confident.
[00:48:29] Speaker B: Yeah, it looks like I would. Yeah, that's pretty much what. What I learn is, is what spells. If I use it on an item, I learn spells it's. It's able to do. But if it's a creature, I just learn what spells are affecting it.
So I will attempt to pull out then.
[00:48:45] Speaker A: Okay, roll a DC12.
[00:48:49] Speaker B: I failed that roll.
I rolled a four minus one.
[00:48:56] Speaker D: I'm spent.
[00:48:57] Speaker B: I'll just stare Gnollishly unless someone calls me over.
Anyone want to give me a hand here?
[00:49:05] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:49:07] Speaker F: Sinking out of that cube.
[00:49:09] Speaker E: I can't.
[00:49:09] Speaker C: I'm gonna grab zozo.
[00:49:14] Speaker C: I'm gonna grab zozo and I'm gonna tug them.
[00:49:16] Speaker A: everybody does exactly what they said and you guys all help the good doctor out.
So with the help action times four.
Because Gnoll said he was just looking on, you can reroll.
[00:49:33] Speaker B: If I was asked, I would help too.
14 that time.
[00:49:39] Speaker A: Boom. You're out.
[00:49:41] Speaker F: All right.
[00:49:42] Speaker B: You wonder what Rube tastes like.
[00:49:45] Speaker C: Don't eat Rube
[00:49:47] Speaker B: I won't but I'm curious.
[00:49:50] Speaker F: Do you all know what happened?
[00:49:53] Speaker B: Zozo licks her finger and says, I think it's lemon lime.
Really?
[00:50:00] Speaker C: Don't tell him that.
[00:50:02] Speaker F: It's real. It's real zesty, though.
Yeah.
[00:50:07] Speaker B: It is alive.
[00:50:09] Speaker C: It's not flesh, though.
[00:50:10] Speaker B: No, it's fruity.
I didn't have much fruits.
[00:50:15] Speaker C: Are we staying in this level or room? Are we moving up?
[00:50:19] Speaker B: Yeah. What's our plan now?
[00:50:22] Speaker A: Another 15 minutes has passed. So, guys, you are halfway into that short rest.
[00:50:29] Speaker F: Should we should we try going up another. The other level?
[00:50:33] Speaker B: I mean, we'll be heading straight back to the.
[00:50:36] Speaker C: I guess we'll do it after the short rest.
[00:50:38] Speaker E: Yeah, we're doing a full on shorty.
[00:50:41] Speaker B: Eh, we're halfway there. We might as well.
[00:50:43] Speaker F: While we're, while we're all kind of waiting around, Steve's gonna do another one of his little concentration dealies.
[00:50:49] Speaker A: Okay, what are you looking for?
[00:50:51] Speaker F: Well, I'm just tracking humanoids again, seeing if that. If that's still the case up top and if, if anything's changed up top in your tower.
[00:51:03] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:51:05] Speaker F: To also actively search for both Mem and Gurm.
I was gonna set up a little potion brewing station and do a little potion crafting in the corner.
[00:51:18] Speaker F: Steve's Mem'n and Gurm'n.
[00:51:21] Speaker A: Is it just a minute to concentrate in that way that you do, Steve?
[00:51:25] Speaker F: Yeah, it takes me a minute to get into the zone
[00:51:32] Speaker A: In this tower, when you concentrated upwards before, we talked about three humanoids now in the entire tower. We'll give you a read on that.
It seems those three have remained exactly where they are. And now sensing also the floors beneath you, you do. So only three other humanoids in this entire tower.
[00:51:59] Speaker F: none of them are Mem and or Gurm?
[00:52:05] Speaker A: Would Steve know that, having sort of known them long enough and been sort of an ally with them?
[00:52:11] Speaker F: Oh yeah, normally I can. If it's humanoids, I can tell what kind of humanoids they are. But I assume if we've had, if I've had past, you can smell reference.
But even then, like Gurm is a gnome. Right. So I'd be able to.
[00:52:28] Speaker A: Yeah. All right, well, you sense an older grizzled human and a gnome.
Oh, and also a Tabaxi, one of those cat people.
[00:52:45] Speaker F: This is above or below?
[00:52:47] Speaker A: Below.
So again, you detect the three above all the way at the top, which you know to be the, you know, top chamber of this tower. And you remember all the way down is another 40 plus floors. And these people seem to be dispersed roughly a dozen floors from each other, contained or jailed in some way. You think as you scratch your mostly hairless chin.
[00:53:16] Speaker C: your peach fuzz.
[00:53:20] Speaker E: It's purely a sense, it's not like if you knew something was somewhere, you could tell me.
[00:53:26] Speaker E: You couldn't describe to me the room and I could dimension door there. It's like.
[00:53:31] Speaker F: No, no, it's, it's more like just no, like having a sense that the humanoids in the area.
[00:53:38] Speaker C: Have we been through the rooms already?
Like maybe we went through them and they're in like an invisible cell.
[00:53:45] Speaker F: I don't think we've gone that far.
Far off really.
[00:53:49] Speaker C: No, they're below us maybe, but they're below.
[00:53:52] Speaker B: We've only been one level below us.
[00:53:55] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:53:56] Speaker F: We need to.
[00:53:56] Speaker C: I thought we'd been more than that because where was Nube?
[00:54:00] Speaker B: He was above us. Rube was.
[00:54:01] Speaker E: Or Nube was far above us.
[00:54:03] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh, okay. Okay. Up then down.
[00:54:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:54:07] Speaker F: That's kind of why I was entering my trance, so I'm gonna break out of the trance and let all you guys know they're. They're below us.
If we're looking for Mem and Gurm, they're below. They're not up.
[00:54:20] Speaker C: Is that why we're here?
Should we go after him?
[00:54:23] Speaker F: There's three more humanoids above us and I don't know who they are.
[00:54:28] Speaker B: I think we kind of figured they were the other Archmages.
[00:54:32] Speaker E: I want to go up because
[00:54:34] Speaker B: there are four Archmages. Rube is one of them. And there's three others.
They want to go up.
[00:54:40] Speaker E: I want to fight these guys.
[00:54:41] Speaker B: It might be better to have Gurm yeah. With us when we go up.
[00:54:46] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:54:47] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:54:47] Speaker F: I'm here for. I'm here for both Mem and Gurm.
[00:54:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:54:51] Speaker F: I don't care about these wizards.
[00:54:53] Speaker C: Yeah. And Beleg, you didn't want to fight even Rube. So why do you want to fight these three?
[00:54:59] Speaker E: Just always willing to fight.
[00:55:06] Speaker F: I want to take an insight roll on what he just said there.
[00:55:13] Speaker B: Rube hasn't been a threat. I have a feeling that Rube isn't really.
I think. I think those three are probably who
[00:55:23] Speaker C: Beleg's reasoning for not wanting to fight Rube was because of his powers and other three are as powerful than him. Then something's up Beleg. What's the deal?
[00:55:33] Speaker B: Beleg's being awfully quiet.
[00:55:36] Speaker F: That's not very Belegian.
[00:55:42] Speaker E: Fuck.
[00:55:46] Speaker A: I'm going to summarize. Another 15 minutes has passed. You are three three quarters of the way through the hour. Beleg your attunement continues with the Sunstone Sword.
[00:55:59] Speaker C: And I'm questioning your want to go up and see these other three, didn't want to even fight Rube who's equally as powerful as them.
[00:56:12] Speaker E: I don't want to fight Rube because I think he's on our side. I will happily fight anybody else.
[00:56:18] Speaker D: I like Rube.
[00:56:19] Speaker C: That wasn't necessarily a reason for not fighting.
[00:56:23] Speaker E: Kaitoa. Can you just decipher what Rube.
[00:56:27] Speaker D: Yep. That was Rube.
[00:56:29] Speaker E: All right.
[00:56:29] Speaker D: I'm gonna yank this sword out and try and hold it. And then also like listen to Rube.
[00:56:36] Speaker E: One sec, Rook.
Rube just booped and bopped and booed.
[00:56:42] Speaker D: What are you booping?
[00:56:44] Speaker A: He beeps and boops that he's on your side too.
[00:56:49] Speaker B: Exactly. I'm gonna insight check. We're friends.
If there is any way to insight his intentions
[00:57:00] Speaker A: As the sword finally enters your grasp, Kaitoa, as Beleg is still trying to attune to this thing. As you guys enter this final 15 minutes, where is the party's kind of collective decision making going
[00:57:18] Speaker C: Steve is already heading down. Yeah, I'm going to go Mem.
I'm not buying Beleg's reason for.
[00:57:23] Speaker E: Am I. Am I attuned to it? Rob? Did you say that?
[00:57:26] Speaker A: No. In this moment
[00:57:28] Speaker E: I thought I still had 15 minutes left.
[00:57:29] Speaker A: Yeah, you still have 15.
[00:57:31] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:57:33] Speaker A: You would think about the hatch below where Rube used to be. In the lower floor where you guys have. You guys have not been through that hatch. So Steve, you'd be the first to that hatch.
It is not open.
[00:57:47] Speaker C: Check out the booby traps.
[00:57:49] Speaker F: I want to check to see if there's a mechanism and I also want to make sure that it's not something that's going to cut off my hand.
[00:57:57] Speaker C: Mechanism?
[00:57:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:58:00] Speaker A: Okay. No clear mechanism to open it, Rook. If you inspect it, you see the same seam as before. Very flat fine seam.
So no clear way that this would open. And Rube kind of pops down to you guys and. And says, you know which. Which you can obviously translate Kaitoa. When he says poop chute.
[00:58:29] Speaker B: So we're going down Rube's toilet.
[00:58:31] Speaker E: Poop.
[00:58:32] Speaker F: All right. Yeah.
[00:58:33] Speaker A: Oh,
[00:58:35] Speaker F: take a shit on that door.
[00:58:39] Speaker C: Don't need to ask me twice.
[00:58:41] Speaker D: What was that?
[00:58:43] Speaker A: Chicken. Mostly chicken, he says. And then he says sometimes goat.
And I would say now it's got to be minutes, maybe just five minutes until everybody feels like they will have that one hour short rest under their belt.
[00:59:07] Speaker A: You've tended to your wounds, Casters. You've regained your spell slots. Not yet - five minutes to go. Barbarians, you're maybe ready to rage again or something.
[00:59:20] Speaker B: So the chickens come from above. Rube eats them, poops them out, and then they go down.
[00:59:24] Speaker F: Can I get Stolas to take a shit on the portal?
[00:59:28] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:59:30] Speaker F: Maybe it's poop powered.
[00:59:34] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:59:34] Speaker A: Stolas swoops by and has a nice bowel movement right on the brass door.
And you begin to see the seams becoming larger.
[00:59:52] Speaker B: All right, Rook, we need more poop.
[00:59:54] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:59:55] Speaker F: Drop a giant doochie. Let's do it.
[00:59:57] Speaker C: Rook's gonna drop trow and do it.
[01:00:01] Speaker F: this a first in DnD I've played DnD practically my entire life and I've never seen a poop operated door.
[01:00:15] Speaker C: Rook is pushing with all his might.
[01:00:17] Speaker F: This beats the that scene in Lord of the Rings where.
[01:00:20] Speaker A: Speak.
[01:00:21] Speaker F: Speak, friend, and enter
[01:00:25] Speaker A: As you do make this poop hatch activate.
As you look down there there is a vortex. You know. Looks like a little pocket realm or some sort of small swirling vortex. Rook. And as you kind of flush and look around for some TP, I mean there is none. But you sort of all understand that these seem to be the end of Rube's levels of imprisonment.
[01:00:58] Speaker B: Is there any way of telling where that leads?
[01:01:02] Speaker F: I drop a dagger into the vortex to see what happens.
[01:01:06] Speaker A: You drop a dagger in and just like the half orc's business, it wisps away in kind of a black swirl. And you're not unfamiliar familiar with little pocket realms, Steve.
[01:01:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:01:22] Speaker F: Let's jump in first.
[01:01:26] Speaker B: Is the unseen servant still around?
You should go up.
[01:01:31] Speaker F: Any of us are willing to jump into this thing.
[01:01:34] Speaker B: Can we send the unseen servant in?
[01:01:39] Speaker C: It's a good idea.
[01:01:41] Speaker F: Does it send you information back?
[01:01:43] Speaker C: It will yeah.
[01:01:46] Speaker A: Don't send me down the latrine. I'm better than that.
[01:01:52] Speaker C: But you gotta tell me what's down there bro.
[01:01:54] Speaker D: Turds.
[01:01:57] Speaker C: Yeah, but there's more stuff down there. There's somebody down there that we need to go after.
[01:02:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:02:05] Speaker C: What's beyond the turds?
[01:02:06] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:02:07] Speaker C: What's beyond the turds?
[01:02:09] Speaker D: What is beyond the turds?
[01:02:10] Speaker A: What is beyond the turds - I can't do it.
[01:02:14] Speaker F: Hold on.
[01:02:14] Speaker B: Hold on.
[01:02:15] Speaker A: What?
[01:02:16] Speaker B: Come on.
[01:02:17] Speaker D: Robin. What is beyond the turds?
[01:02:25] Speaker E: I know not.
[01:02:26] Speaker B: What is beyond the Portal of turds?
[01:02:30] Speaker A: Do not set me there.
[01:02:31] Speaker D: Do not send me to the Portal of Turds.
[01:02:35] Speaker C: We just gotta go there.
[01:02:37] Speaker A: Guys.
[01:02:37] Speaker C: That's where Gurm and Mem is. We gotta figure this out.
Rook.
[01:02:42] Speaker A: As you say that to the party Beleg, you have finished attuning to this weapon. You feel your patron pact of the blade now incorporate it into your repertoire of weapons.
[01:03:02] Speaker E: My first order of business is to just like snap it into the aether.
[01:03:06] Speaker A: Does anything happen to the physical weapon itself?
[01:03:09] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:03:10] Speaker E: It disappears.
I don't believe I can alter its presence or anything with the pact of the blade. The only attribute that I'm using right now is that I can attune to it and then use it as my quote unquote pact weapon and snap it into it. Basically it's hanging out in Steve's treehouse.
[01:03:29] Speaker A: Yeah, same, same concept.
[01:03:32] Speaker F: It's in your treehouse somewhere.
[01:03:34] Speaker A: Virtual armory.
[01:03:36] Speaker E: Yeah, the like the Aether realm, the weird ass realm. It got bampfed!
[01:03:42] Speaker A: Confident now that your short rest is up and everybody feels, you know, a surge as they have, you know, obviously accomplished a huge thing in the destruction of this creature, this gargoyle. And party, as you're standing there in the. I would guess if nobody's sort of moved around majorly. I'm assuming you're in the greened out level of windows.
[01:04:14] Speaker B: Yeah, Yep.
I think a couple of us are down at the poop chute still.
[01:04:21] Speaker A: Okay, anybody still looking into that little tiny poop chute pocket realm?
[01:04:27] Speaker F: I mean, I don't think there's anything that we can send down into it and physical way of getting further down, so.
[01:04:34] Speaker A: Okay, Zozo, are you interested in the sort of technology happening here?
[01:04:41] Speaker B: Yeah, I think so.
[01:04:42] Speaker C: Unseen servant can go down.
[01:04:44] Speaker B: Might have a way to see where it leads.
[01:04:48] Speaker A: As you guys, you know, obsess over the poop chute.
[01:04:56] Speaker A: you know, certainly zozo, you begin to understand. Yes. I mean, there's a small five by five pocket realm here that seems expressly designed to sit under Rube the cube, you know, who consumes as you guys saw, like dozens of barbecued chickens on some sort of schedule.
And as you look up at the party.
Yeah, there they are in the greened out level. So, yeah, the party's, I guess, split over two levels.
[01:05:27] Speaker D: You're about to get pooped out onto a dock. You're about to get flushed out to sea.
Okay.
[01:05:38] Speaker B: That Oldfoot will give us his wisdom.
Okay, well, I don't think any of us are gonna jump into the poop chute, so I guess up's the only way to go and go up.
[01:05:51] Speaker F: Sounds like it.
[01:05:53] Speaker D: We gotta, like, we gotta make Rube like a human form.
[01:05:58] Speaker B: The spells that are keeping him as cube are extremely powerful and complex. So I don't know if we have the power to do that
[01:06:08] Speaker D: But Zozo, do you think we can like, do you think we can fight someone with these spells?
[01:06:14] Speaker B: Well, he gave us a prismatic spray in the rod. I mean, all right.
[01:06:20] Speaker D: Yeah, apparently. Well, we gotta set Rube free.
Yeah, I think like, Rube shouldn't be here. And also, we need Gurm and
[01:06:32] Speaker B: Yeah, we've got a few people to rescue here.
[01:06:35] Speaker F: Yeah, it doesn't sound like we can go down though. Yeah, sounds like we gotta go up.
[01:06:41] Speaker B: We have an animal. I've seen that owl.
Are you talking about me? Or Stolas? Stolas down the poop chute or going up down the chute.
Does it count as an animal? For like, by the way,
[01:06:57] Speaker A: note to DMs never include a mysterious poop chute.
[01:07:03] Speaker F: Like 20 minutes of talking about that poop chute.
[01:07:06] Speaker D: Yeah, I was like, if anything, Johawk. Like, sorry, man, you're first up. Like, I'm pretty sure if we voted, you're the first to go down that poop chute.
[01:07:18] Speaker B: Yeah, we would probably
[01:07:24] Speaker D: magical owl or Johawk.
[01:07:26] Speaker F: I'm not. I'm not throwing my owl into a vortex.
You don't have to put your whole body in. You can just put like your foot in.
[01:07:39] Speaker A: And guys, you begin to hear a strange childish laughing.
[01:07:46] Speaker F: Stop there.
[01:07:50] Speaker A: And all of a sudden the laughing turns into what sounds like a voice being broadcast into these levels. Rube's levels of five flights of floors here.
Stand down, agents of Nafre.
[01:08:12] Speaker B: Stand down.
[01:08:14] Speaker D: Stand down, agents of Nafre?
[01:08:16] Speaker F: Is that what he said? Nafre?
[01:08:18] Speaker D: So I'm gonna hold up, I have Nafre's wooden amulet that
[01:08:25] Speaker F: Or was it Nafre's?
[01:08:28] Speaker B: Yeah. Wait, they think we're agents of Nafre?
[01:08:32] Speaker A: Put the amulet down!
[01:08:35] Speaker B: The amulet down. That's the only other thing I've gotten.
[01:08:39] Speaker A: And this muffled voice sounds panicked.
[01:08:43] Speaker B: Is it coming from anywhere in particular?
[01:08:45] Speaker A: Dr. Zozo?
This is similar to an effect that, you know, could be made by like a whisper spell or a projected voice type effect. It's a disembodied voice.
[01:09:00] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:09:01] Speaker A: And obviously there's interference going on. There seems to be a real trouble in you guys discerning this. Although the party has made out most of the words, Kaitoa, yes, the amulet that commands your construct pieces is indeed something you recovered from Administrator Nafre.
[01:09:21] Speaker F: So they want.
They want us to put it down or put it away? Is that the idea?
[01:09:33] Speaker A: And this voice, you know, sounds young and panicked.
[01:09:41] Speaker D: I like, take a knee and also hold up the the brass towers brooch.
[01:09:49] Speaker B: It's gotta pocket full of brooches.
[01:09:51] Speaker A: Yes, this is the twin brass towers brooch.
[01:10:03] Speaker B: We'd be able to hear you a lot better if you came in here.
[01:10:06] Speaker F: Unless you come in here.
[01:10:08] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:10:09] Speaker A: Perception by the Gnoll. A couple of the party there saying.
Inviting them to come in.
[01:10:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
22 perception.
[01:10:17] Speaker A: Okay. What is your aim there, Gnoll?
[01:10:22] Speaker B: To try and decode what it's saying. What the voice is saying?
[01:10:27] Speaker A: Well, you understand, you know, this voice is speaking in, you know, in common.
Yeah, their voice is distorted by whatever's going on here. And they seem to be hearing every word the party is saying. What did they say last?
They were going on about scrying and spying.
And there is now no response to Steve and Zozo's questions of why don't you come here? There is as you guys have this green light bathing in on you the semi translucent paint that Kaitoa has put on the windows there. You know, there's perhaps a bit of an ominous feeling with this disembodied voice, but I guess everybody gets the sense that they're nearby.
[01:11:22] Speaker F: Imagine that these are like the little baby gargoyles that are acting in proxy to whatever's talking to us.
[01:11:30] Speaker A: We're not gargoyles!
[01:11:34] Speaker D: I'm gonna do Persuasion actually.
[01:11:36] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:11:37] Speaker A: As you hear some muttering.
Yeah, you can go ahead and roll persuasion 17.
What would you be coercing this voice to do?
[01:11:49] Speaker D: Coming and talk to us?
Can't hear you.
[01:11:52] Speaker A: No can do!
[01:11:54] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:11:59] Speaker A: Hey, that's one of the things on the list.
No, you're going to the noontime room. Get ready.
[01:12:08] Speaker D: You have to come in.
Chintaduu?
[01:12:11] Speaker F: As the party Steve is getting ready for the worst.
[01:12:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I heard. I heard get ready.
[01:12:19] Speaker F: So I'm getting ready.
[01:12:21] Speaker B: I think it said noontime room.
[01:12:24] Speaker A: Correct.
[01:12:24] Speaker F: Like, yeah. Daggers in each hand, ready to go.
[01:12:29] Speaker A: As the party hears this message, you get the sense, all of you, that there is a presence approaching the party from within the space that you occupy. All of a sudden, everybody feels a hand on their shoulder. Can everybody make a grapple check.
[01:12:54] Speaker F: I'm gonna acrobatics.
[01:12:56] Speaker A: Acro for Steve. Sure.
[01:12:59] Speaker B: Athletics total of 14. So those about 13.
[01:13:04] Speaker A: 14. Joe. 13. Zo.
[01:13:08] Speaker D: 18 for Kaitoa.
[01:13:10] Speaker F: 18 strength Kaitoa, non natural 20 for Steve.
[01:13:13] Speaker A: Natural 20. Rookie's still alive?
[01:13:16] Speaker C: Why?
[01:13:16] Speaker F: Slippery.
[01:13:18] Speaker B: Slippery.
[01:13:20] Speaker D: Did I see it coming?
[01:13:22] Speaker A: So the only one. Oh, danger sense for barbarians.
Yeah, sure. Yeah.
[01:13:28] Speaker B: Everybody said get ready.
[01:13:29] Speaker A: Yeah, Everybody was aware. Everybody was hearing this voice. Sure.
[01:13:34] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:13:34] Speaker D: I'll take 21.
[01:13:37] Speaker A: Oh, nice. That puts you in a great zone, Kaitoa.
[01:13:40] Speaker B: Yeah, my 14 moved up to a 17.
[01:13:46] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:13:47] Speaker A: Not cracking the 20. So Steve on the 20. Kaitoa on the 21.
[01:13:53] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:13:54] Speaker F: Beleg. I haven't heard him talk in a long time.
[01:13:57] Speaker A: He and Rook are definitely transported away immediately by hooded figures.
And Zozo, 13, you are immediately transported away.
[01:14:14] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:14:15] Speaker A: And Johawk, you ended up with a 17. You are transported away, Steve. Kaitoa, you are left alone in the toxic green floor.
[01:14:30] Speaker D: Kaitoa rages.
[01:14:34] Speaker B: We at least finish the short rest. Or did they cut us off by a minute.
[01:14:38] Speaker A: Oh, no. You got your short rest. Definitely. This was about.
[01:14:41] Speaker B: I'd love to roll some hit dice 10 minutes after.
[01:14:44] Speaker A: So yes, thank goodness you guys got your short rest. But the party, four, have been transported away.
And that, friends and adventurers, is where we'll have to leave you until the next time.
[01:16:24] Speaker E: I've spent enough time in children's hospitals to know that there is not always room for jello. That just fills you up eventually, man.
Just saying.
[01:16:34] Speaker C: What about ice cream?
[01:16:35] Speaker D: Yeah. Lemon lime. Like that inspires hope.
[01:16:39] Speaker E: Dude, they don't give you ice cream in hospitals when they.
[01:16:42] Speaker C: When you remove your tonsils.
[01:16:45] Speaker E: That's when you're at home and your parents spend money on you.
When you're in hospitals, you don't get fucking ice cream. They just.
[01:16:52] Speaker D: That's when you got Obama.
[01:16:54] Speaker B: Kobamacare.
[01:16:55] Speaker E: Over boiled green beans.
[01:16:57] Speaker D: When you got.
Then you get ice cream. But Rube doesn't have Kobamacare.
