Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am the dungeon Master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Eric!
[00:00:16] Speaker B: I'm Eric and I'm playing Dr. Zozo Brightfeather. She is a level nine Aarakocra artificer potionsmith.
Brandon!
[00:00:25] Speaker B: I'm Ekurook Punschley. Level nine blood hunter, half orc.
Caleb!
[00:00:32] Speaker B: I'm a level nine warforged barbarian: Kaitoa Tata.
Braeden!
[00:00:40] Speaker C: Hey, I'm Braeden. I'm playing half elf, Beleg Dygar, Level 9 hexblade warlock.
Tomo!
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Hey, I'm playing Steve Tehuman. I am a Gloomstalker Ranger level five, Battle Master Fighter, level three. And I have just a little schmeck of rogue. And I have an Owl.
Vale!
[00:01:06] Speaker B: I am playing Johawk the Gnoll, a champion fighter 4, Bear totem barbarian five.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blaggards. An entire episode of buffing.
[00:01:25] Speaker E: Yay.
[00:01:26] Speaker F: All right, we did it.
[00:01:34] Speaker E: Yo, Beleg is jumping into the fray up the gargoyle's butt.
[00:01:42] Speaker D: If only you could shrink yourself down.
[00:01:45] Speaker E: I know, right? So now that inner space action.
[00:01:49] Speaker F: Yeah, now that this guy is prone, everyone gets advantage to attack until it gets up.
[00:01:57] Speaker E: Yeah, so I'm not gonna poop on him. That's not Beleg's move.
[00:02:04] Speaker A: No, I mean everyone gets it.
[00:02:09] Speaker F: Okay, so attack roll against the creature has advantage if the attack is within 5ft of the creature. Otherwise the attack roll has disadvantage. So range not so great.
[00:02:18] Speaker E: Okay. Okay. Well, Beleg hops up. He is within five feet, uses a bonus action to cast his Hex Blade curse on the gargoyle.
And then he rolls up a couple attacks with his glaive. His magical glaive.
[00:02:40] Speaker A: That is correct. Okay, Hex first, attack now.
[00:02:46] Speaker E: Yeah, so hex first.
So with advantage, the first attack is 16 plus 8. So 24 does 24 hit.
[00:02:56] Speaker A: It does.
[00:02:57] Speaker E: Sweet.
So I get to add my proficiency bonus to damage rolls now that he's got. He's all Hex Blade cursed.
[00:03:06] Speaker B: You also get an extra D6.
[00:03:08] Speaker E: Oh, and an extra D6.
[00:03:11] Speaker G: That's.
[00:03:13] Speaker B: Yeah, the fortifying fumes.
[00:03:15] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:03:16] Speaker E: So that's nine plus eight plus three, which would be 20 damage with his first hex Blade swipe and then the second one. Second roll fucking sucked. That was a three and a six. Six plus eight would be 14.
Does 14 hit?
[00:03:39] Speaker A: It does not. Okay, yet your blade scrapes across the back of this creature.
[00:03:46] Speaker E: Well, the second swipe sucked and Beleg is done. His turn. He's used a bonus action and his two attacks.
[00:03:56] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you're up.
[00:03:58] Speaker D: I'm gonna attune to this brass tower's brooch.
[00:04:03] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:04:04] Speaker D: And I'm gonna try and figure out, like, why Rube spit this out at me and how to apply it.
[00:04:12] Speaker A: Okay. Well, as a bonus action, you would have already attuned to the broach. You've had this since you guys slew the emissary. Yeah, and it has always seemed like nothing more than a benign broach. But you do start thinking clearly about, well, the whole reason. A weakness or a way to somehow affect this creature. And rather, you would think back to an item that Beleg has in his inventory, and you think about the things that you got in Maw.
So that would be one way to answer that question. What are you doing with the rest of your move?
[00:04:56] Speaker D: All right, I'm gonna jump up. I believe I'm still enraged.
I don't know how much time has passed.
[00:05:03] Speaker A: Yeah, you're. You're still enraged.
[00:05:06] Speaker D: Yeah. Sweet. Well, I'm gonna go for an attack.
[00:05:09] Speaker B: Do they get healing from the kodamas still? Like, because they started their turn there?
[00:05:14] Speaker E: Oh, yes, That's a good question. Healing.
[00:05:17] Speaker A: We established that. I mean, if you guys have been clever and as I understand it, you probably located the Healing kodamas, say, like around the perimeter of the lower hatch. Yeah. Then I'd say as long as you guys, say that hatch, that's the Kodama zone. The little square that I've drawn.
[00:05:34] Speaker B: That.
[00:05:35] Speaker D: That's it.
[00:05:36] Speaker E: Yeah, because we started our turn in the kodamas.
[00:05:39] Speaker B: Yeah, but everyone still started their turn,
[00:05:41] Speaker A: Correct where they were.
[00:05:43] Speaker F: Correct.
[00:05:44] Speaker D: Okay, Robin, I am attacking.
[00:05:48] Speaker A: You've sprung through the hatch. Beleg to your left. Creature here, still reeling from the blow from the half elf. Johawk to your right. Steve in the shadows. And you know, there are these huge streaks of sunlight coming in through the six windows.
[00:06:07] Speaker E: Joe to the right. Here you go.
[00:06:09] Speaker D: So I am enraged in 18 to hit.
Plus four for an attack, actually.
[00:06:16] Speaker F: Plus six.
[00:06:16] Speaker D: Sorry, 24.
[00:06:18] Speaker F: You've got advantage on it.
[00:06:20] Speaker D: Oh yeah, it's the same 18.
[00:06:24] Speaker F: Hey, could it be the 20?
[00:06:26] Speaker B: True.
[00:06:27] Speaker D: Yeah. 24 to attack.
[00:06:30] Speaker A: That hits.
[00:06:31] Speaker D: Okay, 12 damage for the first set.
[00:06:34] Speaker C: Did you get extra damage points for
[00:06:36] Speaker D: the D6 is gonna be?
[00:06:39] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:06:41] Speaker D: And the D6, that's a one. Okay, thanks, Zozo.
[00:06:47] Speaker B: It could make all the difference.
[00:06:49] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:06:50] Speaker D: Okay, there is still. It's got to be a con check of D10 plus.
[00:06:58] Speaker A: That sounds like Vodog lightning damage. Yeah, they get a nine.
So that sounds like 12. Yeah, they're gonna plus three. Nine plus three is 12 meets it beats it.
[00:07:12] Speaker D: Okay, so second attack.
Nat 20.
[00:07:19] Speaker A: Oh, double your damage.
[00:07:21] Speaker F: Yay.
[00:07:22] Speaker D: Yeah, so.
Or brutal crit. Yeah, brutal critical crit.
[00:07:28] Speaker F: So instead of rolling it rolling 2d12, you roll 3d12.
[00:07:31] Speaker D: 21 damage.
[00:07:34] Speaker G: And then that including your rage damage of plus 3.
[00:07:38] Speaker D: I added that.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:40] Speaker F: And since you. Since you crit, you can. You can use the like that Reaping strike mechanic from the feet too.
[00:07:47] Speaker D: Sorry, I never do it.
[00:07:49] Speaker A: So.
[00:07:49] Speaker G: Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:07:50] Speaker B: Thanks Tomo.
[00:07:53] Speaker D: Because I critted, 17 attack.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: That hits.
[00:07:58] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:07:59] Speaker D: Another D12. 15 damage.
[00:08:06] Speaker A: Okay, that was on the reaping strike hit. Okay.
[00:08:09] Speaker D: Thank you, Tomo. I totally forgot about that.
[00:08:12] Speaker A: Do you add?
Wouldn't he make another save against Vodog's Thunder damage?
Oh yeah, he would. Yeah. Okay, So D12.
This time he fails. That is a five. Plus three doesn't succeed.
[00:08:28] Speaker D: Another D8.
[00:08:29] Speaker A: So D8 little. A little zap.
[00:08:32] Speaker D: It's an eight.
[00:08:33] Speaker A: Oh, that's not little at all.
[00:08:36] Speaker D: Oh, thank you, Tomo. I totally forgot about that.
[00:08:40] Speaker E: I never like on kill.
[00:08:42] Speaker C: But then.
[00:08:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
And Kaitoa, as you take your third swipe at this creature, it turns around at you with its red glowing eyes.
[00:08:55] Speaker D: Kaitoa gives it a wink and the gun coming up.
[00:09:03] Speaker A: Johawk. And then Rook on deck after Johawk.
[00:09:06] Speaker G: Since I have advantage, I'm going to Great Weapon Master with my maul.
Who do I want? The 8 or the 8?
So that's a total of 8, but minus 5 because great weapon Master.
[00:09:19] Speaker A: Oh, you are far from natural armor of 16. Yeah.
[00:09:24] Speaker G: I'm gonna try it again with Great Weapon Master.
[00:09:27] Speaker A: Yeah, you can roll that. But yeah. No, that does not. He gotta hit a
[00:09:31] Speaker G: Beat a 16 natural 20.
[00:09:33] Speaker D: Yeah, that'll do it.
[00:09:34] Speaker A: Yay.
[00:09:35] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:09:36] Speaker F: Yeah, nice.
[00:09:38] Speaker D: Didn't you reckless as well.
[00:09:40] Speaker F: Doesn't have to.
[00:09:41] Speaker G: They already have advantage.
[00:09:42] Speaker B: It's prone.
[00:09:42] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:09:44] Speaker G: 31.
[00:09:46] Speaker A: 31.
What type of damage is that?
[00:09:50] Speaker G: Bludgeoning.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:09:54] Speaker G: And then I'm going to Action Surge to attack again. This time not reckless.
That's another natural 20.
Yeah. Yeah.
Whoa.
22 damage on the first action surge attack.
[00:10:09] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:10:10] Speaker G: The second action surge attack. That's a natural 18 plus eight hits obviously.
[00:10:16] Speaker A: And damage.
[00:10:17] Speaker G: 11 damage.
And since I crit on this turn, I'm going to use my bonus action with Great Weapon Master to attack again. I think I'm going to Great weapon master this one.
[00:10:27] Speaker A: 75 bludgeoning damage already
[00:10:29] Speaker G: another natural 18. So total of 21 to hit.
[00:10:33] Speaker A: That hits 15. Dam bludgeoning damage while you are cresting over 90. Bludgeoning damage.
[00:10:41] Speaker G: That was insane.
[00:10:45] Speaker A: Every single one of your hits lands and you feel, though, them being rebuffed.
[00:10:54] Speaker G: It's okay. It's still 45 damage. I think. maybe. that'll end my turn.
[00:11:02] Speaker A: So, Rook, you're up. Zozo on deck.
[00:11:06] Speaker C: Well, I guess I'm gonna pop up and attack with my voltaic machete.
[00:11:10] Speaker A: You pop through the hatch and you just see the tail end of the barbarian construct and the fighter-barbarian Gnoll landing hits on this creature.
[00:11:23] Speaker C: Oh, so that the hit was 24.
That hits an extra D6. Right? We still have that going on.
[00:11:32] Speaker D: So your first attack. Yeah, yeah.
[00:11:37] Speaker A: So D8 plus a D6.
[00:11:40] Speaker C: So the total damage is going to be 12.
[00:11:43] Speaker A: Okay, what type of damage are we talking here, Rook?
[00:11:47] Speaker C: The damage there is slashing, right? It's melee attack. Slashing. And then I'm gonna add plus one, which I believe it's electric. Right? From the voltaic.
[00:12:00] Speaker A: Oh, Voltaic machete. Yeah. What does that have? I think that is lightning.
[00:12:04] Speaker C: Electric lightning.
[00:12:06] Speaker A: Got it.
[00:12:06] Speaker C: Same thing. I think it's just a plus one. So 13 total.
[00:12:10] Speaker A: So, Rookie, at least on this strike you totally hit.
And yet it's iron hide, you feel, rebuffs you.
[00:12:23] Speaker D: Lightning does not hit.
[00:12:26] Speaker F: Magic.
[00:12:27] Speaker G: Yeah, thunder hit.
[00:12:31] Speaker C: Thunder hit. Not electricity though. No, lightning.
[00:12:35] Speaker E: Thunder hits and lightning rolls.
[00:12:39] Speaker D: And the lightning strikes.
[00:12:41] Speaker F: Bam.
[00:12:41] Speaker A: Bam, Bam.
[00:12:46] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:12:47] Speaker F: Go home, Garth.
[00:12:51] Speaker D: It's Chris Gaines.
Cool stuff.
[00:13:00] Speaker F: Oh, boy.
[00:13:01] Speaker E: I thought it was Garth Brooks too.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: What are you doing? Hitting again. That was certainly one attack.
[00:13:12] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm going to try again when you fail. Try, try again.
Hey. 16.
[00:13:22] Speaker A: That hits. So you're attacking again with the voltaic machete.
[00:13:25] Speaker C: Yeah.
Do I get another D6 or just my D8?
[00:13:30] Speaker D: No, just the ones.
[00:13:32] Speaker C: Oh, okay.
[00:13:33] Speaker A: On your first attack from the fumes. Yeah.
[00:13:37] Speaker C: To the hit is going to be 11.
[00:13:41] Speaker A: And you hit with 11 damage and strike. This creature, the guy on the couch, you feel is like you've asked him to stay alert and try and find, you know, anything in the room that could be to your advantage. You feel like he's shaking his head at you like, this is not working, Master.
And he begins to reach in to Beleg's rucksack
[00:14:10] Speaker E: F you.
[00:14:14] Speaker D: You don't know he's there getting handsy.
[00:14:17] Speaker E: Get up there.
[00:14:18] Speaker A: Hey, buddy.
[00:14:19] Speaker E: I feel something.
[00:14:22] Speaker C: You just let it happen Beleg.
[00:14:25] Speaker A: He's reaching your pouch.
No!
Beleg, can you roll for noticing that you're being accosted.
[00:14:35] Speaker E: Yes, I will.
And I will roll terribly.
[00:14:40] Speaker F: I have no idea what's going on.
[00:14:42] Speaker A: You do not. You do not notice. But yeah, the guy on the couch, Rook's unseen servant, you can tell he's
[00:14:49] Speaker E: gonna like, ring Beleg's bell.
[00:14:52] Speaker A: Oh, interesting. You want to. Very interesting. Beleg, you're up in a little bit. Zozo's up next. But Beleg, you feel in this moment, absolutely nothing. Although, Rook, you would be assured as you look over, that the pouches, the little flaps on Beleg's rucksack there are being inspected by your unseen servant. They're looking for something.
[00:15:15] Speaker C: Perfect. Keep it up Sir.
[00:15:15] Speaker E: Your unseen servants a fuck.
[00:15:23] Speaker E: That's Braeden talking and not Beleg. Because Beleg's also an idiot.
[00:15:28] Speaker A: Yes, Rook.
[00:15:28] Speaker C: As a bonus action, can I change my weapon from my voltaic to the morning fire?
[00:15:35] Speaker A: Ah, yes, the orcish morning star. Yeah, sure. So you swap that out and.
Guy on the couch has done his move. Zozo, you're up.
[00:15:47] Speaker B: So it's. It's an iron gargoyle, right?
[00:15:50] Speaker A: Correct. Has Zozo heard or read up ever in the vast libraries that she's consulted on this creature?
[00:16:00] Speaker B: Roll to find out.
[00:16:01] Speaker A: Yeah, roll what you think would be appropriate. History, wisdom, something where you can add a nice little modifier.
[00:16:07] Speaker B: It's a non natural 20.
[00:16:09] Speaker A: Okay, and what angle are you going on? Heard about it, read about it. Encountered.
[00:16:12] Speaker B: Yeah, probably read about it.
[00:16:14] Speaker A: Read about it. Okay. Yes, you have read. In fact, you've read the old passage in the wizard's handbook on gargoyles.
[00:16:23] Speaker A: And indeed, the iron gargoyle has several deadly attacks. And you'd be thinking practically about what could hurt you guys in combat, naturally, I think. Or weaknesses. Well, it's got a flaming breath that could roast y'all.
[00:16:40] Speaker A: And it also is immune to virtually everything.
Not thunder, none. Magical weapons. And you think back into the book, Zozo and your talons, you feel yourself scanning across the entry, and in your mind, you start thinking. Oh, no. Oh, no. I remember this entry.
Page 104. Immunities: Fire, Poison, psychic, slashing, piercing, bludgeoning from anything non magical. Immune to charmed, exhaustion, frightened, intoxicated, paralyzed, poisoned, stunned, unconscious.
[00:17:18] Speaker G: I wasted two crits on this.
[00:17:22] Speaker A: Yep, it is completely immune to those massive hits that you have seen your party dealing. And what are you doing with the rest of your move?
That's kind of your bonus action. That's your interaction with the combat scene, etc.
[00:17:40] Speaker B: Okay, so it's immune to. You said fire, right?
[00:17:44] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:17:46] Speaker A: Fire, poison, psychic slashing, piercing, bludgeoning from non magical weapons. Aha.
[00:17:53] Speaker B: Okay, so magical fire would.
[00:17:57] Speaker A: No.
[00:17:57] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:17:58] Speaker A: And you think to yourself that as long as there is a magical component to the damage, you're probably gonna be dealing damage.
[00:18:08] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:18:09] Speaker B: Okay. So for the purposes of casting a spell, would the gargoyle count as a manufactured metal object?
[00:18:16] Speaker A: It is a large construct and this one has been manufactured.
[00:18:21] Speaker G: Okay.
[00:18:22] Speaker B: I'm going to cast heat metal.
[00:18:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:18:25] Speaker E: Yes. Fucking love that spell.
[00:18:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:29] Speaker D: I've been waiting for this to come out and I can't think.
[00:18:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
So I'm going to cast heat metal on its head.
[00:18:37] Speaker A: Okay.
Unleash this spell, Dr. Zozo.
[00:18:41] Speaker B: So.
Yeah, well, I'll enter the room first so I can see it, because I have to be able to see it. Okay.
[00:18:47] Speaker A: You fly up.
[00:18:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
So when I cast the spell, it causes the object to glow red hot.
Any creature in physical contact with the object takes 2d8 fire damage. It lasts up to a minute. And until the spell ends, I can use my bonus action on each subsequent turn to cause this damage again.
If a creature is holding or wearing the object and takes damage from it, the creature must succeed on a constituent, saving throw or drop the object if it can. I don't think it can drop its head.
[00:19:11] Speaker D: Oh, it can.
We can't get it to rip itself.
I wish it would.
[00:19:17] Speaker B: Yeah. And if it doesn't drop it, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.
[00:19:22] Speaker A: Okay. Yes.
[00:19:23] Speaker B: it will take 2d8 fire damage.
That's 8.
So that's 10 damage.
[00:19:33] Speaker D: That is the best goddamn spell.
Yeah.
[00:19:36] Speaker E: So fun. I didn't know artificers could get it.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. They've got interesting selection of spells from just.
[00:19:46] Speaker D: That is the best God damn spell
[00:19:52] Speaker A: there is.
Changing of. Clearly the color and the heat of the metal, all from the neck up.
No sound is exclaimed. Like those gargoyles you fought before. Though they seem to open their mouth in a noiseless scream.
Anything else in your move, doctor?
[00:20:15] Speaker B: No, I think that's it.
[00:20:16] Speaker A: Okay, the smaller owl in the room. Stolas, you're up.
[00:20:21] Speaker F: I think barring anything else, he's gonna do a little. Another little swoop.
[00:20:26] Speaker A: Oh, that's gonna be like a fried egg if you're going for his head.
[00:20:30] Speaker E: Yeah, that's gonna. This room's gonna smell so bad.
[00:20:38] Speaker F: Mad. Stinky. Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna play the help action and poach and swoop.
[00:20:45] Speaker B: Exactly.
[00:20:47] Speaker A: Hot stone. Oh, it's a camp out and right on target.
A swoop pass, because it's very constrained in this petri dish shaped level or room that you are in.
Rube the Cube is up.
[00:21:07] Speaker D: Bring on the yellow.
[00:21:09] Speaker A: And from downstairs, you really don't hear anything. They seem to be inert.
[00:21:16] Speaker F: And now the creature, he's finally gonna stand up, take half his movement. And you guys have just been wailing on him and to some effect. And certainly now you have discovered a way to damage them. You know, you definitely feel like if there was a magical component, that stuck.
[00:21:36] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:21:37] Speaker B: Zozo communicates to everybody else in the room what she remembers.
[00:21:42] Speaker G: Hey, use magic
[00:21:45] Speaker F: Steve casts rope trick and goes and hides in the ethereal plane.
[00:21:51] Speaker D: Remember, guys like Rube can't attack.
[00:21:54] Speaker E: Rube's inert right now. He's asleep now.
[00:21:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:21:58] Speaker A: A 15 foot cone of fire will have everybody in that cone make a DC15 dex saving throw. As this creature tries to conjure up a flaming breath. I'm gonna figure out who's in my cone.
[00:22:20] Speaker E: Who's in my cone.
[00:22:21] Speaker A: Who's in my ice cream cone.
[00:22:23] Speaker D: I do believe I. I'm gonna throw myself into the. Into the fire.
The creature looked at Kaitoa when I hit him with that thunder.
[00:22:34] Speaker A: Oh yeah, that's right. He kind of looked over his shoulder at you. Stolas is probably out of the equation. Or he could just breathe at Johawk. Okay, I'm gonna use one of my freaky dice. My freaky D3. Rook, Steve, Zozo, can you make a dex saving throw?
[00:22:52] Speaker E: Yay.
[00:22:54] Speaker F: 15 plus.
[00:22:56] Speaker A: Make a DC 15. Yes. Dexterity saving throw, please.
[00:23:00] Speaker B: Zozo got 21.
[00:23:01] Speaker A: You spring out of the way. You will take half of 42. Fire damage. Holy.
[00:23:09] Speaker B: 21 damage, huh?
[00:23:12] Speaker E: Yay.
[00:23:13] Speaker F: 16 for Steve.
[00:23:14] Speaker A: You will take half of 42. And Rook, you're right in point blank range. Oh, Rook, you're muted.
The half orc's dead again.
[00:23:26] Speaker E: Yeah. Been there.
[00:23:28] Speaker A: Yeah. Burned to a crisp.
Hang in there, buddy.
[00:23:32] Speaker D: No dice.
[00:23:33] Speaker E: Is he still muted?
[00:23:35] Speaker A: He is still muted.
Somebody record here 42 or 21. Let's go write that down.
But Rook's not up for a little while.
[00:23:43] Speaker D: I'd love to, if Rook needs it, maybe inspire him to be like, look, get out. Get out of the fucking way.
[00:23:53] Speaker A: We'll hold a retroactive inspiration. A little candle burning for Rook. But no, actually, in this moment, a little candle burning for Rook is accurate. Guys, you see Rook immolated.
[00:24:05] Speaker E: Oh, no.
[00:24:08] Speaker A: And he cannot speak to you. He is valiantly holding up his Shield Mortale in front of him. But he is being cooked. And Steven, Zozo, you are lucky that he kind of diverted some of the blast, which also allowed you to get out of the way.
Whoa, that's a lot of damage. Let's hope he halfed it. Now, Steve, you're at the top of the order.
[00:24:35] Speaker D: All right.
[00:24:36] Speaker F: I have no magic, so instead I don't like the way he's holding that sword.
[00:24:43] Speaker E: Oh, disarming strike.
[00:24:45] Speaker F: Yeah, I'm gonna throw a disarming strike.
[00:24:47] Speaker A: Okay, can everybody roll history on that sword? As you remember, Beleg doing a little bit of scrying of his own on this creature. The Grist.
[00:24:59] Speaker E: Oh, this is. This is the Grist.
[00:25:01] Speaker D: Eh, that's awful.
[00:25:03] Speaker G: Oh, that's a three out of 14.
[00:25:07] Speaker A: Oh, everybody below 10 is too raptured in combat.
[00:25:11] Speaker E: It's a sword.
[00:25:13] Speaker G: I'm.
[00:25:13] Speaker E: I got 10 meets it meets it beats it.
[00:25:16] Speaker A: The owl doctor and the half elf. Lock eyes. Steve, you are, you said you don't like the way he's holding this massive. This is the Sun Stone Sword that you heard described that this Grist creature bears. So you guys are putting it together. This is he. And that is that.
[00:25:37] Speaker F: All right, well, I want it to not be in his hands.
[00:25:41] Speaker G: Okay.
[00:25:42] Speaker A: Disarming strike.
[00:25:43] Speaker F: Disarming strike. Here we go. Eight plus nine for 17 to hit.
[00:25:48] Speaker A: That hits. You're lucky.
[00:25:49] Speaker D: How big is the sword?
[00:25:51] Speaker C: Ridiculous.
[00:25:52] Speaker A: Ridiculously big. Yeah, it's super Dwarven looking in size. And in fact it looks like it was made for a giant. And you know it was made. Yeah. Ancient weapon right here.
[00:26:05] Speaker E: Super dwarven, correct. Yeah.
[00:26:09] Speaker A: This was made by dwarves for giants.
[00:26:13] Speaker F: So it takes, well, it doesn't take any damage obviously, but it has to with disarming strike on hit strike, save or drop object of my choice.
[00:26:27] Speaker A: Here we go.
11
[00:26:31] Speaker F: saving throw.
[00:26:31] Speaker A: 15.
[00:26:32] Speaker F: So no, no.
[00:26:34] Speaker A: Whatever you've done, can you describe how whatever munition you threw has made it release at least the hilt of this sword
Steve has utility.
[00:26:46] Speaker F: So now it's all about timing and placement.
So in this case, as he's swinging, dagger flies out and just catches the right angle. That makes some space between his hand and the hilt.
So one hand? It's a two handed weapon.
[00:27:03] Speaker A: They have been wielding this with just one hand.
[00:27:06] Speaker F: So it drops the weapon.
[00:27:08] Speaker A: Correct.
[00:27:10] Speaker F: Can I run to the weapon?
[00:27:13] Speaker D: Can anyone blast this weapon away from the room?
[00:27:16] Speaker A: You certainly could. It has dropped right down. And I say it has dropped, but I mean, you know, the tip of it has dropped and the hilt of it has dropped. Steve, you estimate right away it would be very difficult a DC of 25 or higher for you to even make it budge.
[00:27:34] Speaker D: Can we dimension the weapon away.
[00:27:36] Speaker F: Yeah, I would like to, if possible, kick it in the hole.
Kick the weapon into the hole. It's, like, close with.
[00:27:47] Speaker E: Whoa.
[00:27:47] Speaker A: That is a very inspired move. Well, sure, I would take athletics or something. You could kind of maybe soccer kick it down the hatch.
[00:27:56] Speaker F: I would like to try, like, soccer slide.
[00:27:58] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:27:59] Speaker F: Like, just run up and throw my entire weight into it so that I it. Try to knock it into the hole so it falls down.
[00:28:05] Speaker E: Oh, it's gonna look so funny if you fail.
[00:28:08] Speaker A: Yeah, amazing.
[00:28:09] Speaker B: You just slice yourself in half.
[00:28:11] Speaker F: Yeah, impale myself on this shitty weapon.
[00:28:16] Speaker E: Don't crit fail.
[00:28:18] Speaker D: Like catching an apple with a knife.
[00:28:21] Speaker F: Oh, God.
So I've got to do a, I've got to do an athletics check, right?
[00:28:29] Speaker A: Yes. And I will reduce the DC to 20.
Fuck.
[00:28:35] Speaker F: All right, here we go.
18 plus 5.
[00:28:39] Speaker E: Oh, nice.
[00:28:40] Speaker D: There you go.
[00:28:41] Speaker A: Well, you know what? The brass floor here, you know, this very nice polished brass floor is very frictionless. And so this is gonna work.
[00:28:50] Speaker F: Yeah. So I call down to Rube the Cube. Rube, I got something for you.
And knock the weapon into the hole
[00:28:58] Speaker G: I'd pay to see Rube swing that sword.
[00:29:03] Speaker F: And this thing, I imagine, is much larger than the hole. So that sword is out of order.
[00:29:07] Speaker A: Well, yes. What happens is the hilt goes in first as you, as you kick it down. There it goes, guys. The hilt first and now the blade. And it makes a huge clang and commotion as it disappears out of view.
[00:29:22] Speaker E: Nice move.
[00:29:23] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:29:24] Speaker F: I guess I'm gonna crab walk as far away as possible.
[00:29:28] Speaker G: If I'm on.
[00:29:29] Speaker F: I've slid into this weapon, I assume, so I'm gonna do one of those, like.
[00:29:34] Speaker A: You have slid awfully close. I have not looked at roll 20, but I imagine you are awfully close to the Grist.
[00:29:40] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:29:41] Speaker A: Oh, indeed. Okay, so you're trying to scurry away.
[00:29:44] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. Okay.
[00:29:45] Speaker F: Yeah, just my little. My little, like, butt scoot crab walk.
[00:29:49] Speaker A: Okay. As molten iron drips from this creature's terrifying flaming jowl, who's up next?
Beleg.
Okay, and Beleg you, luckily, you were spared the flaming cone breath, and you're now kind of flanking the creature.
[00:30:13] Speaker E: All right, so bonus action.
I'm going to cast use the first level spell on the candelabra and cast hex and stack it with my hexblade curse on grist.
Okay, so that's place the curse in the creature until the spell ends. I deal an extra 1d6 necrotic damage whenever I hit it with an attack. And I Choose one ability. When I cast a spell, target has disadvantage on ability checks made with that ability.
And I'm gonna make sure that he has disadvantage on constitution checks. Oh, might as well cast Shatter on him.
Why not? Looking at the room here, it looks like I can cast it in a 10 foot radius and only hit him and not hit anybody else. We're gonna cast Shatter on him as Beleg's last spell. So that's a fifth level shatter. So that's 68 thunder damage and he has to make a constitution save.
And on a failed save, he takes
[00:31:20] Speaker A: half damage and he has disadvantages dis on con. Okay.
[00:31:25] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:31:26] Speaker A: Oh, he got a cocked 17 and then he rolled a 16.
[00:31:31] Speaker E: He rolled a 16 at disadvantage.
[00:31:33] Speaker A: He rolled a 16 at disadvantage. Yeah, he rolled a cocked 17 for the turfed roll and then a 16 for the actual.
[00:31:41] Speaker E: Okay, I thought you were saying that roll was dead and you were real in both of them. Okay, so damage the first 3D8. Cuz I only have 3D8. Oh, is 8, 8 and 7.
So 23. Whoa.
Wow. 23 plus 88 and 3. So 23 plus 19, 42. I'll see your 42 and send it right back your way.
Yeah.
[00:32:10] Speaker A: Beleg, can you describe how I think you have taken a massive chunk all of a sudden out of this creature?
[00:32:18] Speaker E: Oh, you know. I point my finger at him, wink and fire away.
Inside his chest, it ripples especially like little flecks of molten metal are flicking off of his forehead from the vibrations of all the shatter.
[00:32:35] Speaker A: Whoa.
[00:32:36] Speaker F: Especially because it's nice and warm and wet.
[00:32:40] Speaker A: The combination of his kind of his heated up head from Zozo. He just did the fire breath. And now you center the shatter spell on him. There is molten iron flying and dripping away. After your terrifying hit here, Beleg, you feel vindicated.
[00:32:59] Speaker E: Out of my backpack, I also grabbed the little. The little ball of whatever he's made of and kind of rub it between my fingers in front of him as I look at him.
[00:33:09] Speaker A: Oh, that ball's gone.
[00:33:11] Speaker E: That ball's gone.
[00:33:13] Speaker A: Yes, it's hovering about 4 inches in the air away from you.
[00:33:17] Speaker E: Oh, that's the. Okay, I snatch it. I snatch it out of the air and then do my snide rub.
[00:33:27] Speaker A: And at least the unseen servant here passes you this little clump of material. Yeah, but like anything else.
[00:33:34] Speaker G: Nope.
[00:33:35] Speaker E: Stand at the ready with my. With my hex blade.
[00:33:39] Speaker A: And Kaitoa, you are up.
Uh, we're attacking.
[00:33:43] Speaker D: I'm gonna.
Great weapon mastery, this fucker.
[00:33:50] Speaker C: Ooh.
[00:33:51] Speaker D: 17 plus one.
[00:33:53] Speaker A: Oh, you better believe that hits.
[00:33:55] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:33:57] Speaker A: Fuck yes.
[00:33:59] Speaker D: So 16 damage plus 10.
He's also gotta meet a D12 con.
[00:34:06] Speaker A: He does not meet that. That is four.
Hey, dis on con, right?
[00:34:12] Speaker E: Yep.
[00:34:13] Speaker A: Even worse than. Hey, it's possible he rolled a three.
[00:34:15] Speaker G: That's funny.
[00:34:17] Speaker A: He literally rolled a, at three plus three. So six con.
[00:34:21] Speaker D: No, he fails, he takes a three. Thunder damage.
[00:34:26] Speaker A: A thunder snap. Okay. And we determine, okay, full damage. That is actually neither immunity nor resistance.
[00:34:32] Speaker D: So it's a 29 right now for the first hit.
Okay, I'm going to swing it back around and yeah, I'm going to go.
[00:34:44] Speaker G: Great weapon.
[00:34:44] Speaker D: On the same hit.
Oh, it's a one.
It.
I believe it misses.
[00:34:52] Speaker A: Oh, no. You get Vodog almost like hung up on the ceiling as you were coming around from this huge chop.
[00:35:00] Speaker A: Like, the ceilings aren't particularly high here. And yeah, Vodog clangs off the ceiling.
[00:35:07] Speaker D: Still 29 damage.
I'll take it.
[00:35:10] Speaker A: Where would you say you were hacking at this creature?
[00:35:13] Speaker D: Now I'm gonna go.
[00:35:17] Speaker A: What is Steve whispering from the corners?
Go for the face.
[00:35:22] Speaker F: Big, soft metal face.
[00:35:25] Speaker D: His big, soft metal face. It was either that or the hand reaching for weapon.
But yeah, I will go right for his soft, malleable face.
[00:35:37] Speaker A: Okay. Yes, essentially from the neck up, he is still super heated, but also there is what looks like, you know, iron ore blood after your blade penetrates his brittle skin.
[00:35:52] Speaker D: Going for a smile ear to ear.
[00:35:55] Speaker A: Okay, Gnoll-Hawk, you're up. There's just the smell of char broiled Rook in your nostrils. And the huge creature, I mean, for the first moment here in this confrontation, has turned mostly away from you. So again, you're flanking them.
[00:36:14] Speaker G: Oh, I'm between dodging and helping. I think I'll help to distract the
[00:36:24] Speaker D: 16 DC man, you got it.
[00:36:25] Speaker G: But it's immune to everything.
[00:36:27] Speaker E: He doesn't have any magic damage.
[00:36:30] Speaker D: Can I toss him my caustic hammer as a bonus action?
[00:36:36] Speaker A: Oh, Causty, Toxie?
[00:36:38] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:36:44] Speaker A: Did you burn? No. You didn't think because you not one doubt you didn't burn a bonus slot. Sure, if you wanted to huck them the Toxie Warhammer.
[00:36:53] Speaker D: Yeah, I will. Like I take a swing the second pass with Vodog. Sticks and misses. And I reach around, grab the caustic hammer, and I throw it in the air towards Johawk.
[00:37:09] Speaker G: I'm going to try catch that then by dropping my maul.
[00:37:14] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:37:15] Speaker A: You catch this thing and you may choose to deal acid damage with this weapon and you gain a plus one bonus to damage. If you choose to deal acid Damage.
[00:37:28] Speaker G: I'll do just that.
[00:37:29] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:37:31] Speaker G: Can two hand this hammer, right?
[00:37:34] Speaker D: This is a two handed weapon.
[00:37:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:37] Speaker G: So it is a two handed weapon.
[00:37:38] Speaker D: You could great weapon with it.
[00:37:40] Speaker G: First one's a hit 15 plus 8, which is 23.
[00:37:43] Speaker A: Okay. And this Warhammer deals one D8 plus one acid damage.
[00:37:50] Speaker G: Does it have the versatile property?
[00:37:52] Speaker A: It does have the versatile property. Yeah.
[00:37:56] Speaker G: With the plus one from the acid damage. 12 acid damage.
[00:38:02] Speaker A: Will you feel this weapon have a strange property as it connects with the creature. It acidifies on contact. And there is a strange caustic orange and green bubbling where it hits the gargoyle. And where would you say you were
[00:38:21] Speaker G: striking for the shoulder?
[00:38:24] Speaker E: Oh man. The CGI guy. That's like designing this fight for us right now. Is having so much fun with all the colors.
[00:38:33] Speaker A: Now. Don't cheap out on this scene, Dreamworks.
Is there anything else in your move? Do you attack twice? Anything else?
[00:38:41] Speaker G: Johawk will attack a second time.
[00:38:44] Speaker D: Yeah.
Please attack again.
[00:38:48] Speaker G: That's a base 16. So that hits.
[00:38:51] Speaker A: That will hit. And we may, if we don't get Rook back, we may take the burn/dodge action for him. And then we'll hit Zozo. And then that will probably be where we leave our adventures. Yeah.
[00:39:06] Speaker G: Another seven damage. So total of 12 damage.
[00:39:09] Speaker C: Again.
[00:39:10] Speaker A: Again attacking the shoulder. If you do so, this becomes huge. And you almost start to see his shoulders start to rend off.
[00:39:20] Speaker G: I'm swinging it twice onto its shoulder.
See that? It's eating away at its shoulder. I'm gonna work to try and melt it off.
[00:39:28] Speaker A: Work that caustic hammer. Okay. Yeah. Since we cannot get anything other than flames and smoke out of Rook. The party looks on aghast.
They are not sure whether Rook has taken the full brunt of the fire breath. The immolating fire breath.
And Zozo, you are up. All you can see, perhaps party, is the shield is still raised above his face. Above Rook's face.
[00:40:00] Speaker D: Sounds like his shield melted.
[00:40:06] Speaker B: Okay. For starters, I'm gonna use my bonus action. And Grist will take 10 fire damage.
[00:40:14] Speaker A: Oh, ouch. Where's that coming from?
[00:40:16] Speaker B: From the heat metal. I can use a bonus action on every turn.
[00:40:20] Speaker C: Right.
[00:40:21] Speaker B: Still heating.
[00:40:23] Speaker A: Oh, and his head now is. Is really being assaulted from many ways. You heat it up again. Yeah. He's taking the full damage.
[00:40:31] Speaker E: Right.
[00:40:32] Speaker B: I'm going to fish around in my pack and pull out a shatter potion that I. I brewed up well when we were in Maw.
[00:40:42] Speaker A: Okay. And you launched that thing. This is the old like slingshot. The old shatter bottle.
[00:40:50] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I'm going to chuck it at. Aim for the head, try to get it right in the mouth.
Yeah, yeah. I'm gonna throw it and hit him either way. I think maybe to get, you know, as accurate as I want to correct, I need to do a roll.
Yeah, I'd like to not include any of the other party members.
[00:41:09] Speaker A: Yes, that's true. Okay. I'll definitely have your old dex for accuracy. To avoid the party. Get just the Grist and then do you have a, what is he rolling against on?
[00:41:21] Speaker B: I believe it's a 14.
[00:41:23] Speaker G: Okay.
[00:41:23] Speaker A: Con.
[00:41:25] Speaker B: And he has disadvantage.
[00:41:26] Speaker A: Disadvantage.
[00:41:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:41:28] Speaker A: And the Hex Blade Warlock just loves that Hex curse. That's another four, so that's probably gonna be the lowest. And a one. Oh, gosh.
[00:41:38] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:41:39] Speaker B: That's a 15 on dexterity.
[00:41:42] Speaker D: Nom nom. No.
[00:41:43] Speaker A: For throwing it, Dr. Zozo.
[00:41:45] Speaker D: Malpractice.
This should be malpractice.
The wrong pill to swallow.
[00:41:58] Speaker A: There is an explosion.
And you've centered it right on the Grist here.
[00:42:09] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:42:10] Speaker B: So 3D8. That's 10. 10 thunder damage.
[00:42:13] Speaker A: Okay, 10 thunder damage. And then now we're rolling decks to see if you just avoided the party.
[00:42:20] Speaker B: Yeah, I rolled a 15 for that.
[00:42:21] Speaker A: You roll 15. So you are okay. And you feel now like you have taken this creature in a terrible way. And their fighting capability has got to be reduced because they are missing half of their head. And one of those glowing red eyes is gone.
Nice.
[00:42:39] Speaker D: Rip the other eye out, Stolas.
Rip his fucking eye out.
[00:42:43] Speaker A: And as this creature whips around, you know, disarmed, no more with the Sun Stone sword, but still brandishing, well, I guess half a face of teeth and claws and this huge tail that you feel could whip around and get any of you at any moment.
That is where we will have to leave you tonight until the next time on Dungeons and Blaggards.
[00:43:09] Speaker E: I want to kill him.
