Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers, to another episode of Dungeons and Blackguards. I am your dungeon master, Robulon. Joining me, in no particular order, are the players.
Tomo.
[00:00:17] Speaker B: I am playing Steve Peheman, Level 5 Gloomstalker. Ranger Fighter, Level 2, Rogue, Level 1. I. I have an owl.
[00:00:27] Speaker A: Brandon.
[00:00:29] Speaker C: I am ikirut Puisle, Level 8 Blood Hunter, half orc. And I have breast enhancements.
[00:00:39] Speaker A: Brayden.
[00:00:40] Speaker D: Hey. I'm Braden. I play Beleague Degar, half elf. Hexblade warlock, level eight, Eric.
[00:00:48] Speaker C: I'm Eric. I play Dr. Zozo brightfeather, a level eight neracochra artificer.
[00:00:54] Speaker A: And last but not least, Caleb.
I am the construct, Kaitohe Tata. And I am a level 8 warforged barbarian.
Previously on Dungeons and Blackguards. The party attacks what they believe to be a clay golem at the steps of the Temple of Dan. And in the final moment, as Zozo Brightfeather hovers above, still with an arrow primed with alchemist's fire. And as Kaitoa Tata Warforged Barbarian's huge giant axe slices right through and lodges into the slab, the broken stairs.
And as Rook and Oldfoot have shot out of the mud, they've collapsed.
And Steve, you rode the wave down.
But now you see Stolas, who was taken down by that glob of mud. And now the Jembruary clouds begin to blow in from the east. That easterly wind, the blue Zozo's poison cloud, slightly off the mark.
Now, portents are we.
Are we.
[00:02:30] Speaker B: Do we have an audience? Or has basically everyone run away?
[00:02:35] Speaker A: There are some of the Danites at the Temple of Dan.
[00:02:41] Speaker B: Okay, so there are eyes on us then?
[00:02:44] Speaker A: Well, there are the crowds still fleeing in your peripherals, but no, in your immediate vicinity here. There is no one alive. I mean, there are bodies smushed.
[00:03:01] Speaker B: Okay, I just want to make sure that we're not being watched before I do anything.
[00:03:09] Speaker A: It appears not. Steve, can I have everybody roll a perception? Yeah.
[00:03:18] Speaker D: I hate percept.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:03:26] Speaker D: That'S an eight.
[00:03:27] Speaker C: I got a 12.
[00:03:29] Speaker B: I have a 14 plus eight. So 20. 20.
[00:03:34] Speaker D: 22 plus eight of perception.
[00:03:37] Speaker B: Yes, sir.
[00:03:38] Speaker D: Jesus.
[00:03:39] Speaker B: Yeah, man. I got that sweet, sweet expertise.
[00:03:43] Speaker D: That expertise is awesome. So wait, is our proficiency.
[00:03:48] Speaker A: You cracked 12?
[00:03:50] Speaker C: Yep. Okay, you're.
[00:03:52] Speaker A: You're cracking 10. Beleg. You are below 10.
[00:03:54] Speaker B: Mmm.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: Beleg. Good to have you at the table tonight.
[00:03:57] Speaker D: Yeah, Obviously, I'm below 10. What did you expect?
[00:04:00] Speaker A: Who's gonna roll those low perceptions? Well, the Doctor. Your attention, I suppose. Would be on what you perceive to be patience.
There are two mud lung filled party members, Oldfoot and Rook. And then Steve, you would perceive with your sharp eyes maybe two or three things. One, Kaitoa has certainly shuddered to a halt after beheading this giant. And in that moment he has come to a halt and you see him transfixed on something, you know, something that looks to be in his fist. And you look out beyond to the rooftops and there is one solitary raven watching the party.
[00:05:02] Speaker B: So we are being watched.
[00:05:04] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:05:06] Speaker B: Okay, if that's the case, then I will go to Stolas and pick him.
[00:05:14] Speaker C: Up and I'll go to Rook and Oldfoot and start administering some healing.
[00:05:24] Speaker A: Okay. You pick up Stolas, Steve. Oh, this is a muddy little pile of feathers.
[00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
As best I can, sort of wipe the the majority of the mud off and if it's possible, place them on my shoulder.
[00:05:45] Speaker A: Okay. And the rain is now aiding you, Steve, because now thunder breaks and the quick Jebruary rain, which is now beginning to warm up as the month progresses, begins to warm wash over the cobblestones. Zozo, what are you trying to roll there? On administering some sort of medical attention?
[00:06:13] Speaker C: I would probably roll medicine or I do have. I can make. I can make a healing draft without rolling, but I think probably right now I just want to like stabilize them, clean them off and try and get the mud out of their lungs first before administering any potions.
[00:06:34] Speaker A: That sounds very doctorly. So role of medicine, what's your modifier?
[00:06:39] Speaker C: I have proficiency in medicine, So I have a five plus 1924.
[00:06:47] Speaker A: Okay. Well, your diagnosis is correct. There is a clockage. Although these to have made it through the golem, they took a lot of damage. Rook looks like he has been seriously wounded. Old foot looks like he's been compressed a little.
And finally, yeah, you note they are not breathing.
[00:07:20] Speaker C: Okay, I'm gonna try to get them breathing.
I guess I will perform whatever passes for CPR in this world in this time.
[00:07:38] Speaker A: So as the good doctor, I mean you tell me what Steve and Beleg who are looking on are witnessing now. As you know, the she owl doctor goes over and you're saying begins to give some sort of chest compressions.
[00:07:55] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:07:57] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:07:58] Speaker D: Just.
[00:07:59] Speaker C: Yeah. Basically pushing on the chest, trying to get the mud out of the lungs.
[00:08:03] Speaker A: Dr. Zozo, can you roll a 1D12?
[00:08:08] Speaker C: Okay, I rolled a 2.
[00:08:13] Speaker A: Okay. A very interesting technique, Steve. As you see, Dr. Zozo, count to two and then push down twice on Rook's chest and then move over to old foot and then push down twice. So she seems to be developing some sort of, you know, rhythm here where she's going back and forth to each patient and giving chest compressions, but certainly in some sort of practiced way. And Zozo, can you now, I suppose, roll a medicine again with advantage if you're not using any sort of healing draughts.
[00:08:53] Speaker C: Okay, I got a 17.
[00:08:56] Speaker A: Wow. Well then, yeah. You see a large chunk of mud come out of Rook's nostrils and Oldfoot similarly is sputtering over. And you kind have release him from his Baby Bjorn yellow shield chassis here. And they look awful. You have restored them to life.
[00:09:27] Speaker C: Yeah, I think as soon as they. They cough it up, I pour a little something down their. Their throat to.
To help them.
[00:09:35] Speaker A: Okay, and that would be one of your concoctions.
[00:09:39] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:09:40] Speaker B: Get them drunk.
[00:09:41] Speaker C: Yeah. So healing draft, it does two D eight plus four healing eight plus seven plus four.
[00:09:53] Speaker A: Eight, seven, four. 19.
[00:09:56] Speaker C: 19. Yeah.
[00:09:58] Speaker A: Do you get to. Are you going half seeds? You splitting this half half?
[00:10:02] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, I'll give them each half of it.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: Well, I think what you see is instantaneous, just as your alchemical reactions are. There's enough vitality that you could probably walk Rook off of the battlefield here. And you could probably, you know, hike Oldfoot onto somebody's shoulder. You know, like a Beleg or like a Steve.
[00:10:33] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah, I'll wave them over. Tell them to give me a hand.
Get these guys somewhere they can rest.
[00:10:42] Speaker B: Should we drag them back to the chain?
[00:10:45] Speaker C: Yeah, it's probably. Probably the best place. I'm sure there's a bed still intact.
[00:10:53] Speaker D: Works for me.
[00:10:55] Speaker C: Did we want to do anything else? Grab anything or check anything out here before we take them in?
[00:11:02] Speaker B: What's left of the.
What's left of this golem here, Steve.
[00:11:09] Speaker A: As the rain begins to wash down golem away, all that remains are the plates and this dark red clay type substance you see now filling the crevasses between the cobblestones. And it is, you know, essentially draining away towards the canal.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: Does anyone want any golem clay before that's called?
[00:11:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm gonna scoop up a little vial of it.
[00:11:42] Speaker A: What do you have to contain a small amount of clay? Because I'll tell you, it is getting runny. There's certainly chunks around where the stairs broke.
[00:11:54] Speaker C: I imagine in my alchemist supplies, I'd have a variety of little vials and bottles.
[00:11:59] Speaker A: Lovely.
[00:12:01] Speaker D: Do the construct parts resemble the construct parts that Kaitoa's been controlling now that all of the clay is washed away they do.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: The metal components belleg seem to bear some resemblance to Kaitoa. And in fact, you'd have to roll a terrible roll on perception to not notice this.
[00:12:24] Speaker B: Do it.
[00:12:26] Speaker D: So would you like me to roll perception?
[00:12:29] Speaker A: I think it begs the question, can you roll perception? Beleg.
[00:12:35] Speaker D: Yeah, it's a 16.
[00:12:37] Speaker B: There you go.
[00:12:39] Speaker D: Double digits.
[00:12:41] Speaker B: Well, Steve is certainly interested in the parts.
[00:12:45] Speaker D: Yeah. I'd like to bring them into the white chain if possible.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: Well, with the patience stabilized, the three of you turn around and look again at the scene. Number one, Beleg. You notice that Kaitoa standing there motionless with his axe still wedged into the slab. Sure enough, the bundles of parts that still sort of hover around Kaitoa, not sure what to do.
Definitely have the same metal material.
[00:13:28] Speaker D: That was the most important thing I wanted to know.
[00:13:31] Speaker A: Steve, you witnessing this as well, would clearly note though, the big difference between the remaining parts of Naafre's construct guards is they also had this wooden material. And so the big subdermal metal armor plates are definitely there on the stairs. Dr. Zozo, as well, as you regard the scene here, you stoop down and you would fill one of your small flasks or vials with the mud. And it is a dark red mud. It doesn't look all that exotic or anything. In fact, it looks quite common as you fill up your little vial.
[00:14:20] Speaker C: Okay. I'll probably check it out further later when things have come down.
[00:14:36] Speaker B: Should we let this crow live?
[00:14:42] Speaker D: You're the one that can hit it.
[00:14:46] Speaker B: Is. Is Crick an enemy? Or is Crick just working for doing what he should be doing? That's what I want to know.
[00:14:55] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:14:56] Speaker B: Is it just his duty as the.
As the maester of the castle or whatever?
[00:15:04] Speaker C: Does Zozo understand anything that bird was saying or is it just cawing?
[00:15:10] Speaker A: Oh, well, yeah. This bird cocks its head at the party as they discuss and Zozo, you do understand one thing. The bird is listening. But that was simply crow call it raw bird.
[00:15:32] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:15:33] Speaker A: Raw Chukra, the universal Aarakocra language shared by many unawakened bird species. And the sentient bird races.
Chukra.
Okay.
[00:15:51] Speaker D: Oh, I want to go to the castle so bad.
[00:15:54] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:15:56] Speaker C: I don't know how to. I don't know if we want to get on the. The Kenku bad side right off the bat.
[00:16:03] Speaker D: It doesn't matter what side we're on.
[00:16:05] Speaker B: If he's dead with the.
The mage guild, then he's. I think we've already.
[00:16:12] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:16:15] Speaker B: If he's in any Way attached to them. Then we've made that choice.
[00:16:20] Speaker D: Yep. Yeah, I'm happy to mess him up.
[00:16:26] Speaker C: I won't stand in your way if you want to.
[00:16:29] Speaker D: No. Nobody comes into our town, tries to disrupt everything and kill people with golems.
People must pay.
[00:16:39] Speaker B: Well, they certainly. They certainly didn't need to bring that golem in.
[00:16:44] Speaker C: Nope.
[00:16:46] Speaker D: The way we were handling Amethyst, maybe she did need to bring that golem in.
[00:16:52] Speaker B: Yeah, it was up to her to fight. She attacked us first.
[00:16:57] Speaker D: 100%. We were on the defensive.
[00:17:00] Speaker B: She's destroying private property within the city of Volb. And then of course attacking the Temple of Dan too.
[00:17:09] Speaker D: Yeah, not so good.
Is that crow still here?
You want to kill it, Steve?
Yeah.
[00:17:23] Speaker B: I call up to the crow. I say tell. Tell your Kenku that we've got unfinished business with that Ms. From the Mages Guild. We'll now start dragging the the parts to the white chain message.
[00:17:37] Speaker D: It that or just yelled at it.
[00:17:40] Speaker B: If it could hear us. I yelled at it.
[00:17:43] Speaker D: Nice.
[00:17:47] Speaker A: And the bird takes off.
It has been perched listening. And Steve, no sooner had you finished delivering your message, it looked at all three of you who are still alert and mobile here at the stairs of the Temple of Dan and has taken off directly north in the direction of Hugill Castle.
[00:18:10] Speaker D: Hugill Castle.
Well, first and foremost we should probably get Ruckin Oldfoot and the construct parts into white chain.
[00:18:19] Speaker B: It's gonna take, I mean to move these guys. It's gonna take us all to do that anyway.
[00:18:24] Speaker D: Yeah, so let's get going on that.
[00:18:29] Speaker B: Put a tarp up where the wall used to be just to make sure no one breaks in. While we probably. I mean at this point we should. Before running in, we should probably get in contact with Doraphil and. And Mickey to let them know what's going down.
[00:18:49] Speaker D: Yeah, no kidding. How far away is Dorafil and Mickey's place?
[00:18:55] Speaker A: Rob, you're only a 15 minute stroll from Dorfil's safe shack just outside the inner city wall.
South river district. And as far as you know, the last time you saw Gurm was before you took your one hour nap. Your one hour.
And he was going back to the Castlegill Castle.
[00:19:26] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:19:29] Speaker A: Dr. Zozo, at the end of last session you asked what has been happening with those construct parts around Kaitoa? As the battle came to its climax and we had your role and you rolled a 14 intelligence.
[00:19:48] Speaker C: Okay. Right. Yeah.
[00:19:50] Speaker A: Recording is a wonderful thing.
[00:19:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:19:53] Speaker A: As your giant owl brain contemplates the situation. You see there is a Way to get the construct parts to envelop Kaitoa.
You've done the research. You've done the experimentation. And as the parts hover there, your brain just whirs.
[00:20:23] Speaker C: Okay. And Kaito is holding the.
The amulet thing in his hand.
[00:20:29] Speaker A: Still, as you guys inspect your party member, it seems that Vodog is lodged into the slab and Kaitoa has taken out in one hand his homing stone and in the other, Naphre's wooden amulet.
[00:20:52] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:20:54] Speaker A: And the parts, as always, hover around that amulet like a cloud of jumbled parts.
[00:21:04] Speaker C: I think I'll. Whatever it was, I figured out the idea I had. I'll play with the amulet or try and get that to happen.
[00:21:14] Speaker A: Okay, Zozo, as you contemplate the situation for one last moment. Guys, is there anything else you would do in this scene? You know that crow has left and you contemplate how to sort of move the construct and yeah, Rook is out for the count. However, Oldfoot begins to sputter. And there's life in him from that healing brew.
[00:21:37] Speaker B: Ugh.
[00:21:38] Speaker A: He does not look good.
[00:21:41] Speaker D: If I recall correctly, I still look like Ennis. So now that that crow is gone, I'm gonna disguise self back or take disguise self off just so I can be Belerick again.
[00:21:51] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, you sure displayed your full array of powers there. No Hadar, so that was probably for the better.
Yeah.
[00:21:59] Speaker D: That spell.
Never again.
[00:22:03] Speaker C: Stupid spell.
[00:22:08] Speaker D: Yeah. All I want to do is. Yeah, switch back to Bell Egg and then get all this construct shit in our party members in. Inside.
[00:22:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, we need to get our compatriots that are. That are not. Not currently able to defend themselves into a better place.
[00:22:24] Speaker D: The incapacipadres.
[00:22:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:22:26] Speaker B: Before anything else, I think it's also worth worth letting Mickey and Orphil know what we just got done.
[00:22:35] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:22:37] Speaker E: Well, I'll tell you what I'd like.
I would have liked my head to be released from my ruined body. Why not that end for I. That would have been a fitting end for me.
Rain, mud, metal plates. That's all that's left. I wish it was so easy for the world to rid itself of me. I need a beer.
[00:23:10] Speaker D: Well, we're going back to the white chains.
[00:23:12] Speaker B: You're too good of a caddy to let go.
[00:23:15] Speaker E: Well, your paralyzed construct there has demonstrated his true nature.
Taking the head off things. You know this.
[00:23:28] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. He does it occasionally.
[00:23:30] Speaker B: He's pretty good at it.
[00:23:33] Speaker E: You don't know of what you speak.
I wish I had my armor strapp to this half orc's back as a Cadiz. I could have totally dealt a hundred.
[00:23:47] Speaker A: Damage in one move.
[00:23:49] Speaker E: You never.
Where is my armor? Where is my hollowed out shield Guardian armor? Tis a potent thing. I hope you didn't leave it lying around.
[00:24:05] Speaker B: It's nearby.
Hey, where's that. Where's that sweet hatchet you used to have?
[00:24:13] Speaker E: Oh, perhaps we do need to have a beer. It stays with the Gnoll chieftain.
[00:24:22] Speaker D: Ah, just like the other stone of Farsbeach. Want that so bad.
[00:24:27] Speaker E: That's it. A call away.
[00:24:32] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe we should call him over at some point.
[00:24:35] Speaker D: Does he feel like killing an emissary from the wizard's guild?
[00:24:44] Speaker A: And rain now pours down on all of you. Truly the rain has turned into a downpour. And Oldfoot, as the rain courses over in the. You know, the mud runs through his hair.
And Beleg. And Steve, can you roll an insight on Dr. Zozo?
[00:25:07] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:25:08] Speaker D: What's trying to steal now she.
That's a nat 20. I know exactly what she feels like.
[00:25:18] Speaker B: So that's good because we've got an 11.
[00:25:21] Speaker A: Beleague degar. You do know exactly what this owl feels as you see her finally uncock her crossbow bolt and start to look at the arrow. Like, where do I put this thing with the arcane fire pre dipped on it? You know, you're seeing somebody after their first true battle.
[00:25:50] Speaker D: Ah.
How you feeling over there, Zozo?
[00:25:54] Speaker C: Oh, pretty good.
You know, some of my. My concoctions, they. They work just like I had planned them to.
[00:26:03] Speaker D: I hadn't really that adrenaline pumping.
[00:26:05] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, yeah.
That's something else.
[00:26:08] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:26:09] Speaker B: Can you make. Can you make more of those bolts? How. How hard would it be to get those onto an arrow?
[00:26:18] Speaker C: Well, the, the. The.
The chemicals don't last long, so I kind of have to mix them up and coat them and use them right away. Like this bolt here. It's already kind of fizzled out.
Kind of have to do them on the fly.
[00:26:33] Speaker B: So it's pretty temporary.
[00:26:35] Speaker D: Yeah, you looked like a natural out there, bird.
[00:26:40] Speaker C: Thank you.
[00:26:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Guys, the mud now has all coursed away the blood now as well. The rain is doing some of the squeegee and cleaning work that often your meat Wagoneers do.
[00:26:57] Speaker D: Can we get Matthias? And then to.
Is there anybody that we know around that we could send? Where's Dante?
[00:27:04] Speaker A: Dante Beleg. Dagar, as you are walking back, you have turned around Beleg. And you start looking back at the ruined white chain and back towards the market square where you would assume Dante should be. And sure enough, Beleg. There he is. He is slinking along the inside of one of the walls of the market stalls.
[00:27:32] Speaker D: Dante.
Dante.
[00:27:35] Speaker A: He is too far for you right now. You have to cross the entire square. I'll show you on the map where he is. But finally Dr. Zozo and Steve. I mean you got Oldfoot, you got Rook. Who's taken who you guys gonna stretch for this thing? You've said you're thinking about moving your compatriots and I mean everybody's soaked right now.
[00:27:56] Speaker B: Yeah, well, I mean we definitely need to get our friends better place.
[00:28:01] Speaker D: I could. I have one spell slot left. So I could dimension door somebody into the white chain. But I feel like I need to save that spell slot.
[00:28:11] Speaker E: Don't take me. I'll crawl like I did away from the last battle in the Goblin Wars. Handless and legless and pitiless.
[00:28:23] Speaker A: And Oldfoot starts to crawl towards the white chain.
[00:28:28] Speaker D: What's it look like? Rob?
Give us a very detailed description.
[00:28:33] Speaker A: Have you seen Forrest Gump?
[00:28:35] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:28:39] Speaker A: You know our ongoing metaphor. Yes. You are witnessing this. A one down. But yeah. You have a 300 pound rook and a 280 pounds transfixed Kaitoa. And Kaitoa's gigantic axe and all the metal plates of the clay Golem.
[00:28:58] Speaker B: It has to be the two largest party members that.
[00:29:02] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:29:04] Speaker B: That are in a comatose condition. Can't be the little 16 year old kid or the.
[00:29:10] Speaker D: But we should like rules as written and as intended. We should be able to each carry one of them.
[00:29:19] Speaker B: I think.
[00:29:19] Speaker C: So.
[00:29:20] Speaker B: What is it?
[00:29:20] Speaker D: What's the twice your strength that you can push, pull.
[00:29:25] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:26] Speaker B: So two. Steve can do two. Four.
[00:29:29] Speaker C: What?
[00:29:29] Speaker B: 240 strength is 12.
[00:29:32] Speaker A: Push, pull and drag him in two times 10.
[00:29:36] Speaker B: Steve. Yeah. Steve maxes out at 240.
[00:29:39] Speaker C: My strength. Absolutely not.
[00:29:42] Speaker A: It is only. Guys. It's only about 200ft. It's only 2/3 of a football field just to drag him back. You want to try it?
[00:29:51] Speaker D: Yeah. Wait.
[00:29:52] Speaker C: Steve. Right.
[00:29:54] Speaker B: Steve.
[00:29:54] Speaker D: Your strength.
[00:29:55] Speaker A: That's true. Rook only needs a shoulder. Guys. Rook only needs a shoulder.
[00:29:59] Speaker D: Only strength 10. Steve's stronger than me. That's embarrassing.
[00:30:04] Speaker B: What are you talking about? I'm a ranger. Supposed to be stronger than you.
[00:30:08] Speaker D: You're a waif.
[00:30:09] Speaker B: You're just a baby warlock.
[00:30:12] Speaker D: I'm a strong warlock.
[00:30:16] Speaker A: Okay, guys. I'm gonna do my best Rook impression as Rook asks in vain for somebod lend his shoulder. Son of a mother.
[00:30:31] Speaker D: Yeah. Belly goes. Oh, you got him.
[00:30:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:30:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:30:35] Speaker C: I can. I'm not going to be Much help with, with Kaitoa, so I think I'll. I'll just help. Help. Broke balance. It's a small shoulder, but since Steve.
[00:30:45] Speaker D: Is the strongest one, you should probably tackle Kaitoa and I'll try and bring the construct parts.
[00:30:50] Speaker B: Sure.
[00:30:52] Speaker C: Well, I think, well, most of the construct parts are gonna follow Kaito, aren't they?
[00:30:56] Speaker D: No, the Gollum construct part.
[00:30:57] Speaker C: Oh, right, yeah. We've got the other one.
[00:31:00] Speaker A: Dr. Zozo, as you say that surely all of those parts, I mean they are just. They're just hovering, waiting around Kaitoa. But yeah, still unclear about what would happen. He's still holding that amulet aloft and.
[00:31:19] Speaker C: He has it exposed. Yeah, because they're. They're huffing around. Yes. I have an idea about what I want to do with that, but I think wait until we've got him inside or maybe until he wakes up.
[00:31:30] Speaker A: It is push, pull and drag time. Then if. If Rook is getting a hand from the newest member of the party, the rather diminutive she owl here lends a feathered shoulder and like, yeah, you guys just make it back into the doorway, which is the only thing really that remains of the. The front facade of the right half of the white chain. Steve, can you roll a strength as you just try and dislodge Kaitoa?
[00:32:01] Speaker B: Yep.
These are not fantastic.
That is a 13.
[00:32:13] Speaker A: He falls over.
[00:32:16] Speaker B: All right, buddy.
[00:32:18] Speaker A: There's a huge clank and his homing stone flies out of his hand and skids across the cobblestones.
Bo Dog remains lodged into the destroyed stairs.
[00:32:37] Speaker B: I go and I grab the stone, make sure that it isn't lost. He's definitely, it's definitely important to him.
[00:32:45] Speaker A: Okay, you got that lodestone?
[00:32:49] Speaker B: Is it a lodestone?
[00:32:51] Speaker A: Steve, you begin to notice a growing similarity between what you have never handled. Kaitoa's homing stone, which at one point he thought was a mood stone. But now you notice the material is the same, this black opalescent stone.
[00:33:18] Speaker B: Huh.
[00:33:19] Speaker D: Interesting.
[00:33:20] Speaker B: It like cut or like just the style of stone?
Similar cut. Similar.
[00:33:27] Speaker D: Same material shapes.
[00:33:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:29] Speaker A: Correct.
This one perhaps, though, unlike the lodestones that the party is developing a growing inventory of, this is a larger shaped object and it is shaped like, you'd call it more like an egg shape that would fit in somebody's hand. Now in Kaitoa's hand it looks tiny, but in your hand it looks like a really nice shaped skull skipping stone, almost sort of egg shaped, but flattened. So it is certainly much larger hook and different than the little lodestones that are almost like pebbles, some of the ones you guys have recovered in comparison.
[00:34:15] Speaker D: Little lodestones.
[00:34:17] Speaker B: Well, that one terrible band. I tuck the stone into one of my special compartments within my armor.
[00:34:26] Speaker A: Okay, yo. Kaito's head now rests on the cobblestones.
[00:34:31] Speaker B: Is there like a dolly or something that would help me carry Kaito? Would I be able to load him on to like a keg dolly or something?
[00:34:41] Speaker A: Well, Steve, at this very moment. And Beleg, at this very moment, as you're seeing Zozo and Rook enter back into the white chain, Dante is running across from the market square. You know, he's trying to intercept you as you look on and recover this one item that has skittered across the ground.
Steve. And as you look behind him. Thank goodness. Thank Dan.
There's the meat wagoneers.
[00:35:12] Speaker D: Baaaay.
[00:35:14] Speaker E: Tend to the dead, rain or shine.
[00:35:20] Speaker A: Here to clean up.
[00:35:23] Speaker D: Beleg tosses them an extra silver and asks them to do their best to identify any of the fallen locals so their families can be made aware. Hurrah.
[00:35:34] Speaker F: I'm good at catching these. And look, the rain's already done half the. Oh, dear, That's a lot of pole beans.
[00:35:42] Speaker D: Yeah, did you hear what I said? That extra silver is to help notify the families of the fallen.
[00:35:49] Speaker F: Oh, this will be a little bit of work, but nothing we can't handle.
[00:35:54] Speaker D: Tralala.
[00:35:56] Speaker B: Okay, guys, do you have. Do you have my stuff that I ordered?
[00:36:01] Speaker D: Didn't it already come?
[00:36:02] Speaker E: That was delivered.
[00:36:07] Speaker F: Yes, that was delivered by me.
[00:36:09] Speaker A: And Dante skids into the conversation.
[00:36:13] Speaker B: Oh, so it's in the white chain already?
[00:36:15] Speaker A: Yeah, I delivered it to your.
[00:36:17] Speaker F: Your party members up in the third floor. Oh, God.
[00:36:23] Speaker A: And all look upon your ruined building. The rain is just pouring down now. You guys can barely hear each other. And yeah, Dante, you know, little cyan cap there is all soaked.
[00:36:38] Speaker D: Stupid fucking golem.
Oh, hey, Zozo, how long does those temporary hit points last? Should I take them off of my stat line?
[00:36:50] Speaker C: Probably, Yeah, I can look it up.
[00:36:53] Speaker E: Should I put all the parts in the stables?
[00:36:58] Speaker D: Actually, before. Before you start picking up the.
All the. The deceased, could you help us take Kaitoa back into the white chain?
[00:37:08] Speaker E: Oh, separate the Kaitoa? Yes.
[00:37:14] Speaker D: Yeah, we can just pick him up and throw them on your dolly and. Or trolley or wagon or whatever, get him back into the bar.
[00:37:22] Speaker E: Very well, milord. I understand.
[00:37:26] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:37:29] Speaker A: Yeah. So as the rain pours down, guys, what seems to have happened here is Kaitoa has been returned first to you on trip one. And you're all there in the ruined foyer. And you do note that the meat wagoneers are doing some grievance counseling at the steps of the Temple of Dan. It looks like they're, you know, perhaps speaking on your behalf with some of the Danites, the. The priests of Dan there.
[00:37:56] Speaker D: Good. Good guys.
Good guys. The mean wagon. So we've got all the construct parts, we've got all our party and everything. And we're all in the ruins of the White Chain right now.
[00:38:06] Speaker A: That is true. And if somebody mentioned a tarp before, that could be useful. I mean, rain is coursing. Coursing in water damage.
[00:38:17] Speaker D: Yeah. I'm trying to think of worst, but I can do.
[00:38:22] Speaker B: There's no one's got a men's spell.
[00:38:28] Speaker D: No, no, I can. The best I could do is cast an illusion spell to make it look like the White Chain is still fine.
It's just. Yeah. Similar to how Belak deals with his other problems in life.
[00:38:45] Speaker C: I have the Mending Cantor, but I don't think it works on a building.
[00:38:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:51] Speaker D: Is there. Is there anything tarp like? I guess we had a ton of all those like covers that were on the furniture when we first came into the White Chain. Somewhere lying around, we might be able to quickly sew together some sort of giant sheet tarp like thing.
[00:39:11] Speaker A: Okay, Bellic, as you say that, you know, Dante's also just come in and he's flicking his hat off and trying to dry his little hat out and looking up around and you know, saying.
[00:39:25] Speaker F: Where'S that little guy? The handyman?
[00:39:31] Speaker A: It's a very good guy. I always. Yeah.
[00:39:36] Speaker D: I don't know.
[00:39:38] Speaker B: Hopefully not crushed by rubble.
[00:39:41] Speaker D: Yeah, we need him. He's not expendable.
Hey, uh. Oh, where. Where is he?
[00:39:59] Speaker B: Head towards the. The borking.
[00:40:02] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:40:03] Speaker F: Bork. Borkidoo. My. My hands are maimed.
[00:40:09] Speaker D: No.
[00:40:13] Speaker A: You see Porco in the corner, right. He and Shorva and the bar staff were all there. This was their soft sort of opening. And truly he is pinned by the forearms.
[00:40:29] Speaker F: I can't release my hands from the wreckage, but I feel they're all brokey Borkidoo.
[00:40:38] Speaker D: Oh, okay, let's go, let's go. Free his hands and fix the boy up.
[00:40:43] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:40:44] Speaker D: We need Porco.
[00:40:46] Speaker A: Oh, and there.
[00:40:47] Speaker D: The only handy person.
[00:40:48] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Oh, and there are two dead barmaids.
[00:40:52] Speaker D: No.
[00:40:54] Speaker A: Yeah. As you guys explore the White Chain a little bit more, it seems that half of the complement of staff have been crushed. So you have Porco arms crushed and you have two dead barmaids in Their nice white aprons that they had donned just for the opening. And then screams now from the back as the, you know, several cooks and waitstaff that were not in any way part of the. The battle at the front here as they look on.
[00:41:31] Speaker D: This is. This is a terrible turn of events.
[00:41:34] Speaker B: Yeah, hiring is gonna be really difficult after this situation.
[00:41:38] Speaker D: What you say?
[00:41:39] Speaker B: I said hiring is gonna be really difficult after this situation.
This is a one off danger pay to any staff. Future staff of the whitechain.
[00:41:50] Speaker D: Wages are going up.
[00:41:53] Speaker B: If they have to work weekends or vacations or if they have to work during a fight.
[00:41:58] Speaker D: Danger pay.
[00:42:00] Speaker B: Danger pay.
[00:42:01] Speaker A: Yeah, they're gonna know about this, this incident. Zozo, you can be assured that you have triaged. You know, Old foot and Rook, they are stabilized. And in fact, guys, Rook seems to autopilot up to the third floor. And as you guys look up at him, he flashes you the owner's key. He's confidently gonna go unlock that nice owner's door with his owner's key. And off he goes.
[00:42:31] Speaker D: Do.
Does Porco know the. The names of the deceased?
[00:42:38] Speaker F: There's Deborah and there's Geraldine.
Well, half of Geraldine there on the one side and half of Geraldine there on the outside. Borkidoo.
[00:42:55] Speaker E: Where.
[00:42:56] Speaker F: Where is Shorva, my older sister Shorva?
[00:43:01] Speaker D: We haven't found her yet.
[00:43:04] Speaker B: That is a good question.
[00:43:05] Speaker D: But I'll make sure that we commission some in loving memory plaques for some of the bar stools for Deborah and Geraldine.
[00:43:13] Speaker F: Oh, that sounds great. Let me just vomit from the pain.
[00:43:21] Speaker C: Yeah, we should like probably get his hands out from under the rubble.
[00:43:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
Do you have. Yeah. You can heal things, right? I hope. Yeah.
[00:43:31] Speaker C: Sweet.
[00:43:32] Speaker D: Yeah. Let's go. Get his hands up in the rubble.
[00:43:35] Speaker A: So sophisticated.
[00:43:36] Speaker B: Belak heal things.
You make with the healing.
[00:43:44] Speaker A: Okay. As you retract. Then the arms. Oh, yes. They have been mangled and broken there. There are two halves of Geraldine. I don't know what we can do there. It does.
[00:43:58] Speaker C: I can't feel that.
[00:44:00] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:44:01] Speaker A: It does appear that Deborah has perhaps just been knocked unconscious. As you guys, you know, come closer to the bar, the bar area here. And then you hear from the back the clipping heels of Shorva and her clipboard as she emerges from the back.
[00:44:21] Speaker F: One, two, three.
Dead. It could be worse.
[00:44:28] Speaker D: Thank goodness. Shorva, you're alive.
[00:44:30] Speaker F: Well, you know, the last time we had 300 people followed conscious and many dead and pickpocketed. So it's all in a day's work. We'll replace them and we'll just Add a new danger pay. I overheard you. Very good. Take notes on the clipboard.
See right here.
Okay. And the Porco.
[00:44:57] Speaker D: Yeah, we need to help him.
[00:45:01] Speaker C: Is he. Is he. Are his hands out now?
[00:45:03] Speaker B: He's mostly okay, right?
[00:45:06] Speaker A: His quote unquote hands are my.
[00:45:10] Speaker D: Yeah, we need to fix those. We need those hands.
[00:45:14] Speaker C: Yeah. I think I'm gonna use cure wound. The spell.
Okay. Hopefully that has a better chance of healing his hands than a potion would.
[00:45:25] Speaker A: Wonderful. So cure wounds. The spell wounds. Oh, and Dr. Zozo, where do you draw your magic from, you know, if it is not in the form of this alchemical potion?
[00:45:41] Speaker C: I think it's, you know, I studied it as part of my schooling. It was, you know, all part of the overall education. I think there's a little bit of magic, but I specialized in the alchemical.
[00:45:59] Speaker F: Oh, I am very encouraged by the confident words of this owl.
[00:46:09] Speaker A: Can you roll? What would that be? Couple D8s.
[00:46:16] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:46:17] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:18] Speaker D: Said he got his powers from study in front of a guy who got his powers from a sword he lost a bet with. So I buy it.
Okay. Five.
[00:46:29] Speaker C: Five and four. So 14.
[00:46:35] Speaker A: Oh, wow.
You're virtually topping little Porco up.
[00:46:42] Speaker D: God damn hands.
[00:46:43] Speaker B: It's like his hands were never crushed.
[00:46:47] Speaker A: I was gonna say if it was less than 10, it would be like maybe that's the number of fingers that didn't quite set properly. But my God, Zozo, they have at second level.
[00:46:58] Speaker F: So they have all a puppy borkidokie back into position.
[00:47:05] Speaker C: Yeah, they sure have.
[00:47:07] Speaker F: Oh, let me just throw up again.
[00:47:14] Speaker A: And it was a little creepy.
Sure enough, Zozo, your instantaneous healing takes place before shore of his eyes, before the party's eyes, and before a couple of the, you know, the bar keeps. And the cooks in the back, all of them are witnessing you do this. And these horrible breaks in Porco's forearms and digits all click back. And he does a couple of little snaps with his fingers.
[00:47:45] Speaker F: Time to get to work.
[00:47:48] Speaker D: Valak tosses him five gold for all the supplies to fix the bar.
No.
[00:47:54] Speaker F: Hey, hold on.
[00:47:55] Speaker A: And Shorva intercepts all five pieces.
[00:47:59] Speaker F: I'll take care of payroll and danger bonuses.
[00:48:04] Speaker D: Okay. Just make sure it goes to fixing up the building.
[00:48:09] Speaker F: We're family. And I'm in charge. General manager, gm. Respect those initials, Pork doo.
[00:48:19] Speaker A: Porco immediately goes with a couple of his hands from the back. And they are, it looks like going up to the second floor guys and starting to execute that tarp plan you talked about. You were talking about using some of the linens and coverings that covered the windows from before.
Yeah, perfect.
[00:48:40] Speaker B: And off Steve is making a beeline for the, for the stuff that was dropped off for him.
[00:48:46] Speaker A: Okay. And sure enough, in this period of time, as you are triaging some of the living, the cart has returned to the front and you would now have all of the scene of the battle essentially cleared up.
[00:49:04] Speaker F: Guys.
[00:49:04] Speaker A: So half of the meat wagon is filled with the torsos, limbs, smushed jam. Parts of about 35 Polbians and half.
[00:49:17] Speaker D: Yeah, like a chunky tomato sauce.
[00:49:19] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Ragu, ragu. And the other half has your deliverables, these large armor plates.
[00:49:30] Speaker D: Well, I want those deliverables. Yeah, let's unload them.
[00:49:39] Speaker A: And a huge bundle is delivered. So you know, now Kaitoa has been delivered back. He is like a statue. He is literally frozen. And he kind of rests on the inside of the foyer. All of those parts still with Kaitoa still almost like a sphere of parts staying near him. And then off they go, grindy, grindy.
[00:50:05] Speaker F: Off to the sausage king. Lots of little pobians are a delicious thing, the noloni.
Oh, we haven't seen gnolls in a while. Terrible to process, you see. But the pelts make great glove liner.
[00:50:21] Speaker D: TRA la la.
[00:50:25] Speaker A: And off they go into the rain.
And the doors shut behind them and the tarps come unfurling down from the second floor eaves. And now with the rain pittering and pattering outside on the cobblestones, the party has a moment of respite.
[00:50:51] Speaker B: The white chains patio will be open soon.
[00:50:58] Speaker A: That's a great idea. Yes.
[00:51:01] Speaker B: Now with. Now with a patio space open to the terrace outside.
[00:51:07] Speaker A: Oh, Steve, we are going to touch on how the white chain is built because you know what? I'm going to give you inspiration.
[00:51:14] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:51:17] Speaker A: You will remember that the white chain is one of these old Polb constructions. As in it has no windows on the first level at all. And you know, from the moment you guys have been introduced to this whole.
[00:51:31] Speaker D: First level as a window right now.
[00:51:37] Speaker A: As you guys now settle in, we'll take our mid episode break. Is everybody good to go on?
[00:51:44] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:51:46] Speaker D: Should I take a short rest to regain my spell slots or do we want to get them moving as fast as possible?
[00:51:53] Speaker C: A short rest is probably a good idea. We could just take down the clay golem.
[00:51:58] Speaker B: Yeah, you do need a short rest, don't you?
[00:52:00] Speaker D: I, I don't. I still, I still have half my spell slots. I have one.
I'm not bad, but it would just be, it'd be nice To. To have both spell slots at the same time. I don't want to.
This is where it gets difficult, not having everybody here. I want to go to huge castle as soon as possible to try and intercept.
[00:52:21] Speaker B: Well, I mean, we need to. Yeah, we really need to get that Ms. Chick.
[00:52:26] Speaker D: So either I take a short rest or I forego that. We try to go straight to Hugo castle.
[00:52:37] Speaker B: Do we want to jump into a fight again? Minus two.
[00:52:40] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't know if I want to.
[00:52:41] Speaker D: Like.
[00:52:42] Speaker C: Yeah. Do we want to go into that with Oaks?
[00:52:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:52:46] Speaker C: Two people down.
[00:52:47] Speaker D: But do we want to risk taking, like, do we want to putter around and risk spending too much time?
[00:52:56] Speaker B: Well, yeah. I mean, I don't.
[00:52:57] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:52:57] Speaker B: I don't want to waste the time that we have because she's certainly gone back to the castle and who knows. Who knows where afterwards.
I kind of have a. There's. There's something that's bugging me about the.
The chests. The. The mimic that in the danger room. Wizard and spear in the danger room. There's the.
[00:53:21] Speaker D: Do you want to investigate that?
[00:53:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, while we're here.
[00:53:25] Speaker D: That's something the three of us could do.
Let's.
[00:53:29] Speaker C: There's a mimic in the danger room.
[00:53:31] Speaker B: So when we were deposing Nafre, who was this guy that represented the. The mages guild, he had this chest in his office. Wizard skill, just.
[00:53:43] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:53:43] Speaker B: Did I say wizard's guild?
[00:53:45] Speaker D: No, no, you keep saying mage's guild.
[00:53:47] Speaker B: Okay, well, the. The wizards guild.
I'm sorry.
Anyway, the wizards guild, he had this chest in his office that was, like, highly guarded by. It was either the chest was a mimic or it was guarded by, like, some sort of mimic, like creature.
And so there was a replica or a copy of it in this danger room at the white chain.
[00:54:13] Speaker D: It's still all cased up too, isn't it?
[00:54:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, we should. We could check it out since we're here already.
[00:54:21] Speaker D: Yeah. I just want to double check with Rob that it's not going to screw us over in the long, long run.
[00:54:26] Speaker B: I mean, for all we know, Emis is gone already.
Maybe time that it took us to, like, drag all our ship back into the. Into the white chain.
[00:54:38] Speaker A: And that is where we will have to leave you until the next time on Dungeons and Blackguards.
[00:55:49] Speaker B: Looks like the white chain isn't opening anytime soon.
[00:55:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:55:53] Speaker D: May it rest in peace.
[00:55:56] Speaker B: Maybe we can bring Shorva on. On our adventures with us.
[00:56:00] Speaker D: Shorva.
It's Shorva.
Ooh. Use my mic. Picks up my farts.
[00:56:16] Speaker B: Was that a fart?
[00:56:18] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:56:18] Speaker B: That's hilarious.
[00:56:22] Speaker D: So I'm like, I've hooked up my actual mic tonight.
[00:56:25] Speaker A: You sound great, buddy.
[00:56:27] Speaker D: Yeah?
[00:56:28] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:56:28] Speaker D: I've got my, like, my good mic on, but every time I fart, it picks it up and makes me giggle.
[00:56:33] Speaker A: You gotta get a fart dampener.
Fart pop.
[00:56:37] Speaker D: I have a pop screen.
[00:56:39] Speaker B: There you go.
[00:56:39] Speaker A: A fart pop screen.
[00:56:42] Speaker D: Yeah.
Fart pop.
[00:56:44] Speaker A: Fart pop.
[00:56:46] Speaker D: Really bad. J Pop.
