[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggers. I am the dungeon master Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players and their level seven characters. [00:00:20] Speaker B: Tomo. [00:00:22] Speaker C: Hey, I'm Steve Toman. Human Gloomstalker Ranger, Level 5 Rogue, Level 1 Fighter, Level 1. [00:00:31] Speaker A: Caleb Kaito. [00:00:33] Speaker B: ETA, Level 7, Warforged Barbarian. [00:00:38] Speaker A: Brandon. [00:00:40] Speaker D: I'm Ikaroo PoonSlay. Level 7, Blood Hunter, Half orc. [00:00:46] Speaker E: Darklord Brayden. Hey, I'm Beleg Dagar. I'm half elf. Hexblade Warlock, level seven. I'm not a Darklord. [00:01:01] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blackguards. It is the middle of the night of Jeb Brewery. [00:01:10] Speaker E: In the middle of the night. [00:01:12] Speaker D: Did you know Rick was born on February 11th? [00:01:17] Speaker A: That's a good in game Coincidence. We are in the port city of Pol in the free state of Mach on the mainland's west coast. And after returning to the city, the party of four adventurers paid a visit to first a friend's apartment, Dorafil's safe shack, then the wizard and Spear, and then to where they are now, the White Chain. No longer with a name, the sign has been taken down out front and Kaitoa has been transported back from being ambushed at the small canal bridge not 500ft away from where you are now. And I'm going to start by asking Eric, can you roll a stealth check please? [00:02:26] Speaker F: All right, let's get my dice out. [00:02:29] Speaker E: Do we have a fucking squatter. [00:02:34] Speaker A: At the same time. [00:02:37] Speaker F: Steve? Fifteen. [00:02:39] Speaker A: Fifteen. Yeah, okay, right. Right on the nose. You'll find out. I am a 5. 10. 15. 20. Man o. The last two members of the party who did not have the advantage of dimension dooring back directly into the foyer dining room of the White chain were Steve and Rook. So Steve and Rook, can you now roll a perception check? [00:03:08] Speaker B: You're not alone. [00:03:10] Speaker C: I have a non natural 20. [00:03:14] Speaker A: Okay, non natty 20. [00:03:16] Speaker D: Ooh, my perception on that one's not good at. [00:03:21] Speaker E: That's some bell egg numbers. [00:03:24] Speaker A: Well, Steve, then you got the impression that as you and Rook re entered the establishment, as you looked over your shoulder back into the night, and as Stolas was flying back to sort of perch on your shoulder, you got the impression that you were being watched. You had a hunch. [00:03:52] Speaker C: So this is as we're walking into the front door. [00:03:56] Speaker A: Yes, this is retroactively five minutes ago. Now we are caught in that moment where Engo Oldfoot has slipped off of Rook's puke stained back. Kaitoa Tata has unfrozen. He has now mobilized to catch the falling quadriplegic dwarf veteran. And Beleg Dagar is frustrated and fuming in bed. I think that nobody has noticed your Kaitoa disguise. [00:04:28] Speaker B: He got pissed off and went to bed. [00:04:31] Speaker E: Yep. [00:04:31] Speaker B: I spilt the wine but I caught pukey McPuke stain. [00:04:37] Speaker A: Kaitoa. I will inform you now that you have come to and you have been detransfixed on your homing stone. You now have that cryogenic backpack that is dispensing until it is fixed. 1D4 cold damage. [00:04:58] Speaker B: Sweet. [00:04:59] Speaker A: Sort of per roughly 10 minutes out of combat. And in combat is actually a weapon that can be used 1D4 cold blast. [00:05:15] Speaker B: So Chris bomb 1D4 cold. [00:05:18] Speaker C: Do you just like just point it at something and it fires like a spray of cold? [00:05:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Does it? Yeah. Does it like stack on my vodog? [00:05:26] Speaker A: Well, you will remember. You have seen the effects of this cold blast party. Do you remember a gnoll called Freeze Pop AKA Goldfang? [00:05:37] Speaker B: Is that when he was upside down? I froze his face? [00:05:39] Speaker A: Well, sure. He was receiving like 1d4 a lot. [00:05:43] Speaker C: He's just frozen by the time we released a backpack. [00:05:48] Speaker A: And so in this moment, Rook Half orc Kaitoata the living construct. Steve Tehumen multiclassing it all the way. You do still need to take your long rest before achieving your level 8 prowess. And so you will note that it is very late. It is about one in the morning now. Very dark outside. And Beleg Were you upstairs now or are you still downstairs? [00:06:23] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, I went to bed. [00:06:25] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. So it's the party of three down there. Engo Kaitoa. You have lain him somewhere on a chair or a table, I assume. [00:06:34] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:06:34] Speaker A: Okay. And Eric, we're gonna move to you real quick. [00:06:40] Speaker F: All right? [00:06:42] Speaker A: About 20 minutes ago you saw in the night sky a tremendously bright flash of light. And perhaps you were out on your night flight. Yeah. But you saw this beam of light. And it shot out from a very close close distance to where you currently call home. And when you went to investigate it, you did indeed see an ambush on the bridge. There were a dozen Kobold warriors assailing this massive living construct. Before you knew it, there was a battle for adventurers that you are very much aware of. Have been up to quite some activity tonight. But it was this beam of light that has attracted your attention to where you are now. And you are in the square of the Temple of Dan and the white Chain. This two story hotel restaurant establishment. Okay, what do you do? [00:07:57] Speaker F: So I saw the run away the bright light and then followed them here? [00:08:04] Speaker A: Correct. [00:08:05] Speaker F: Okay, I think. I think I'll go in. [00:08:10] Speaker A: Okay. Can you make a perception check? [00:08:14] Speaker F: Okay, that's a five total. [00:08:21] Speaker C: Hey. [00:08:24] Speaker A: This place looks safe. [00:08:26] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:08:28] Speaker A: So as far as you can tell, you were not remarked, as you observed, the last two members of this party re entering this building. You did note that the young human ranger of the party did call back a small owl to him just as they entered the building. [00:08:56] Speaker F: Okay. Yeah, I mean, I'm definitely interested in them. I'm not sure what my goal would be in going to meet them, but I think they fascinate me. I want to find out more. I've heard of them. [00:09:14] Speaker A: Well, where would you say you are perched, my friend? Are you at street level? Are you up a level? Where does your character perhaps go if they go strolling at night? [00:09:26] Speaker F: I think at night, probably sticking to rooftops. Higher levels. [00:09:31] Speaker E: Oh, great, Another Steve. [00:09:36] Speaker F: Yeah, I like to get a bird's eye view of things. [00:09:41] Speaker C: We're already starting with these ones. [00:09:42] Speaker B: Huh. [00:09:47] Speaker A: Okay, well, then you have several means of approaching this building. What makes this building interesting is that the lower floor has no windows and no way to visibly look into it. But these two sets of very impressive wooden doors on the second floor are windows aplenty. And it is clear that they look both into rooms and into this sort of chandelier room. So would you like to roll an investigation? Would you like to simply approach this place? It is up to you, my friend. [00:10:23] Speaker F: Yeah, I think I'll roll an investigation, try to get a look in some of those windows. [00:10:28] Speaker A: Okay, you're gonna stake out carefully and roll that investigation. [00:10:34] Speaker F: Okay, I got a 12. [00:10:37] Speaker A: As you look around the building and assess the situation, there are a significant amount of riding horses around to one side of this building. They are lashed up nicely. There is a large pile of wood and debris and a small shack around the side. There appears to be. It looks like there is an entrance around the back. And then as you look into some of the windows, you note that. Yeah, the second floor to this establishment, as you well know, is closed. There are no travelers or guests here. But there is activity. You can tell there are lights inside and something is going on inside. [00:11:23] Speaker F: Okay. [00:11:24] Speaker E: Is he seeing me get naked? [00:11:27] Speaker A: Would you inspect the third floor windows, Eric? [00:11:33] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:11:36] Speaker A: As you easily access the third story of the building from the outside, you note that there are occupants in the third level of this building. [00:11:50] Speaker F: Okay. So whatever is up here, the ones. [00:11:52] Speaker A: I probably aren't aware of it, then who can say? [00:11:56] Speaker F: Okay, am I able to tell what what they might be. [00:12:03] Speaker A: You could roll a one. D4. A fateful one. D4. [00:12:07] Speaker F: All right. Oops. That was not a D4. [00:12:12] Speaker B: Here we go. [00:12:13] Speaker F: That rolls a seven somehow. Okay, I got a two. [00:12:18] Speaker A: What is your. My friend? [00:12:20] Speaker F: What's your my intelligence at 18? [00:12:24] Speaker E: Oh, hey, we finally have a smart person. [00:12:27] Speaker F: Yay. [00:12:29] Speaker A: I love that we got some brains in our crib. [00:12:33] Speaker E: Finally got brains. [00:12:35] Speaker A: Eric, you deduce. And you would know this, of course, being a temporary resident and a recent resident of polb. And in fact, where you call your home is not far at all from the Plaza and the Temple of Dan. So you put it all together very quickly and can understand that although the establishment has not been reopened, clearly the new owners are residing here. Okay, and as you swoop around, Beleg, can I have you make a constitution check A con? [00:13:11] Speaker E: Yep. [00:13:11] Speaker B: Huh? [00:13:12] Speaker A: Beleg, as you are snoring away, Beleg in his cap, who has been down for a bit of a Jeb Brewery nap earlier than the rest of the party. [00:13:25] Speaker E: Decided to use the D20 that Youngblood gave me just to test it out. That's a six. [00:13:31] Speaker C: Oh, man, you gotta break that in first. [00:13:33] Speaker E: Man, I don't poop my pants, do I? [00:13:35] Speaker A: Well, this is rather interesting, Beleg, because your low con has resulted in you waking up in one of those flop sweats. No, no, you have not had a restful five minutes, even though you hit the sack right away. Immediately you were transported to that dream place where, you know you experienced some immediate trauma. And you are now up, covered in a cold sweat. And you look right at the window and it appears that two glassy orb like eyes are staring back at you. And now they are gone. [00:14:23] Speaker E: I cast disguised self and make my genitalia bigger. [00:14:32] Speaker A: Immediately your testicles swell. [00:14:38] Speaker B: The eyes reappear in the window, packing so much information, clearing even harder. [00:14:46] Speaker A: Beleg, what do you do now as this presence has now left the the window and you are now up and alone in the third floor? [00:14:57] Speaker E: I run to the window and look around. [00:14:59] Speaker A: Can you make. [00:15:00] Speaker E: What was the matter? [00:15:01] Speaker A: Can you make an athletics check? [00:15:04] Speaker E: Athletics. Yeah. [00:15:06] Speaker A: Eric, can you make a dexterity saving throw? [00:15:11] Speaker E: Okay, this die is poorly weighted. That's an eight. But I rolled a four both times. And plus two, plus four, I rolled a six. [00:15:24] Speaker A: Ooh, rather low. Well, in this case, as you move away, Eric, from your vantage point at the window and beleg as you dash to the window, you both catch sight of each other again just for a fleeting moment. And beleg, you now know somebody has Been a peepin. [00:15:50] Speaker E: What does he look like? [00:15:51] Speaker A: It looked like a flash of feathers. [00:15:57] Speaker F: Ooh. [00:16:00] Speaker A: And party downstairs. You are becoming aware of some poking and prodding around the third floor. You hear the footsteps of Beleg all the way up there. With the combined keen senses of the party. Something is going on. [00:16:18] Speaker B: Steve, send Stolas on a loop. [00:16:21] Speaker E: Yeah, I run downstairs and. [00:16:24] Speaker B: Pervert. [00:16:27] Speaker F: You should probably. [00:16:29] Speaker E: Probably get Stolas outside. There is a very large bird and I have no idea what it is. Or something feathery flying. [00:16:36] Speaker B: Better not be a manticore. [00:16:38] Speaker C: Okay, I'm going to. I'm going to send Stolas out the front window and I'm going to stealth out the back window. [00:16:47] Speaker A: Okay, Kaitoa, Rook, what is your course of action in this moment as Steve has just dispatched himself and the owl. [00:16:57] Speaker D: Well, we're in the white chain, aren't we? [00:16:59] Speaker A: Yeah, correct. The foyer. But now totally laid out and ready for service. Dining area beside the foyer. [00:17:08] Speaker B: I'm gonna take a nap in this chair right beside until someone yells. I'm just gonna sleep in this chair. [00:17:19] Speaker D: Rook's gonna pull his Bergen's blade and we'll take Machete out. Be at the ready. [00:17:27] Speaker B: I'm just gonna sit by this old foot. [00:17:29] Speaker A: Yeah. Rook, in this moment, as you pull out the large and imposing Bergen's blade, you do wish for that ability that you as a young fighting half orc noble aspired to have. Which was to wield a larger than light weapon in one of your hands. And as you have fought with this party over the last month or so, you know, you feel your fighting ability increase. And boy, do you yearn for that ability. Oh, a long rest is within your grasp. But no, in this moment, something is up. Anything else? Party downstairs. If not, I'm going to follow Steve. [00:18:07] Speaker D: I'm gonna glare at Kaitoa as he's taking his long rest. [00:18:12] Speaker B: I'm gonna sit just with old foot and power down a bit. [00:18:16] Speaker A: Kaitoa, you have now entered the first minute of your long rest. You're trying to get in. [00:18:22] Speaker E: Bastard. [00:18:23] Speaker A: Yeah, the I wonder if we're gonna re enter the storyline that we had a couple sessions ago which was will they or won't they ever rest? [00:18:31] Speaker F: Yeah, I tried. [00:18:34] Speaker B: Three hours and 59 minutes to go. [00:18:37] Speaker A: Okay, so Rook, as you scowl and Kaitoa, as you power down, you have started earning your level 8 long rest. [00:18:44] Speaker B: All right. [00:18:45] Speaker C: And Steve, I am going to make use of the sides of other buildings. So I'm going to out the back stealthy wise and make my way up to a height similar to that of our building. [00:19:04] Speaker A: As you move in this pincer strategy, you and Stolas begin to identify that there is a dark creature that does not seem to be in any way threatening, but making themselves very scarce on the rooftops up here with you and Belak. You now also hear the footsteps of, of Steve outside on the rooftop. And you hear the familiar warm warbling hoot of Stolas, the summoned familiar. And you're aware now that you have been sort of joined up here. What is your course of action? [00:19:46] Speaker B: Zozo. [00:19:47] Speaker A: Eric. [00:19:50] Speaker F: What does the rooftop look like? [00:19:53] Speaker A: It's got one main slant to it going forward, forward towards the plaza, going backwards on the other side to the small canal. It's only 5, maybe 5 to 10 foot gaps between buildings. And where you've sort of made yourself very scarce is just at the pinnacle of one of the gable, part of the overhangs. [00:20:19] Speaker F: Okay. I think when I see that they're approaching, I'm going to try to try to take off. I'm getting a little panicked. [00:20:31] Speaker A: What is your flight speed? [00:20:36] Speaker F: It's 50ft. [00:20:38] Speaker A: Okay, Steve, you are immediately aware of this shadow beginning to launch itself into the air. [00:20:48] Speaker E: Whoa. [00:20:49] Speaker A: And there it goes. Can you roll a perception, Steve? [00:20:53] Speaker C: Oh, that is a 27, but a non natural 20. Non natural 20, but almost as good. [00:21:03] Speaker E: That's pretty funny. [00:21:07] Speaker A: You are familiar with this particular breed of Arakokra and this being has launched off in to the night sky at the moment is maybe just 50ft away now leaving your view. And it seems like you have startled this creature who does not seem to be wielding weapons of any, any sort. What do you do? [00:21:41] Speaker C: So I had Stolas go out the other direction. Was he heading out towards Stolas or was he heading away from Stolas. [00:21:50] Speaker A: Who he just collided with Stolas and Stolas. And you have executed this pincer movement quite purposefully and to great effect. It has achieved the intended effect. Eric, you are grappled mid air lightly by an owl and you have collided with him as he is sweeping, swooping upwards on this updraft. And can you roll? I suppose your choice. What do you want to do as your startled escape has been interrupted? [00:22:31] Speaker F: I think I want to make sure that neither of us is knocked out of the air. Basically I want to make sure we both fly away from this. [00:22:42] Speaker A: Eric, can you describe to me quickly what sort of raiment and what sort of garb is your character sporting? [00:22:51] Speaker F: I'm picturing kind of like a variety of like kind of Scarfs and robes and different, like, patterns and fabrics. [00:23:01] Speaker A: Very pretty. But unfortunately, that's the same reason that, you know, superheroes don't wear capes. Your scarf has entangled this smaller owl. And yes, in this moment, both you and the owl, because you are hurtling down towards the cobblestone streets of Polb in this. This plaza here. You are hurtling downwards. And so could you roll a skill of your choice? The best reflects you trying to save yourself from any damage from this fall. It was quite the collision. [00:23:39] Speaker F: Okay, I think I will roll acrobatics. [00:23:45] Speaker A: Love it. [00:23:45] Speaker F: I think I'm gonna try to. Okay. I rolled a 17. [00:23:52] Speaker A: Beleg. What a scene you are seeing now out the window. [00:23:58] Speaker E: Oh, yeah, it's fun. [00:24:00] Speaker A: You see this large owl, Aarakocra, collide with Stolas and then barely avoid crashing into the ground. [00:24:15] Speaker E: Have I ever seen an Aarakocra before? [00:24:18] Speaker A: You roll a 1D4. [00:24:20] Speaker E: Where you at before? I know you in there. [00:24:23] Speaker C: I don't think we've seen any Aarakocra in our. In our game yet, have we? [00:24:26] Speaker A: I will award inspiration if anybody can tell me the Aarakocra or Kenku we have referenced. [00:24:36] Speaker E: I rolled a four. [00:24:39] Speaker A: Oh, Bella. Yes. You are very, very familiar with Aarakocra. Why, those were the three tribes of settlers on the island of Bool. [00:24:53] Speaker B: Treasure Island. [00:24:54] Speaker E: All right, so I know bird people. [00:24:57] Speaker A: Yes. And you're aware of the many forms and lineages that their peoples may take. Here is an owl, Aarakocra. So this is not foreign to you, but what a spectacle. And feathers are flying as they just barely kind of swoop up. And you have landed, Zozo. You have landed. But this actually took all of your energy in this moment. You're kind of spent and. And you release this small little owl from your scarf where it got tangled up in. [00:25:34] Speaker F: Okay, I yell sorry. [00:25:38] Speaker E: Feature Burger apologizes. [00:25:41] Speaker C: Hey, hey. [00:25:44] Speaker E: By the way, Rob, I'm running downstairs out the front door. [00:25:47] Speaker A: Fair enough. Then, Steve, you're the only person at the moment talking with this being. And Bellak, you are about to rejoin the sleeping Kaitoa and the alert. Rook and Rook, you've definitely been alerted to some ruckus. [00:26:04] Speaker D: Yeah. So I think I'm gonna make my way and open it up and see what the heck is going on in this moment. [00:26:11] Speaker A: Rook, you look across the plaza and see that Steve is up on the roof shouting down to a large, shadowy fig. [00:26:25] Speaker C: Oh, is he. Is he now on ground floor, ground level? [00:26:27] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. He just barely missed some fall damage. [00:26:32] Speaker C: I'm gonna drop down, land next to him. [00:26:38] Speaker F: I put my wings in the air and I say, don't shoot. [00:26:43] Speaker C: I'm just kind of casually eating gorp. And I basically say, hey, you've got my owl. What's up? [00:26:57] Speaker F: Yeah, sorry about that. He kind of ran into me. [00:27:03] Speaker C: Yeah, I had him do that. What. What are you doing? What are you doing looking to our windows? [00:27:09] Speaker F: I. Well, I. I saw the flash of light and followed you guys back here. Just kind of wondering what's going on. [00:27:19] Speaker C: Why? Well, I don't. I didn't make that flash of light, so I can't answer that. What? What. What the hell? What are you doing here? [00:27:32] Speaker F: I mean, I was just curious. [00:27:36] Speaker C: Curious? Curious about what? [00:27:38] Speaker F: Oh, anything. Everything. Weird stuff's going on. I, you know, want to know what it is. [00:27:47] Speaker C: Why don't you come through the front door then? [00:27:50] Speaker F: Yeah, I mean, in retrospect, yeah, that probably would have been the way to go. [00:27:54] Speaker C: We got. We got brunch on Sundays. Rooms. [00:27:59] Speaker F: The place kind of looked closed. [00:28:03] Speaker D: Rob, how far away would I be by this point? I'm pretty suspect. I'm going to be making pretty quick moves over there. [00:28:10] Speaker A: You are exactly 30ft from where Steve dropped down. You are exactly 60ft from where this being is, you know, carrying on with a bit of conversation. And you have in front of the white chain. It's not dark at all, right? I mean, your plaza has the temple of Dan, which always has some flames burning in little pits in the front. And then you have two torches in front of the white chain and sort of that's where you're standing. [00:28:38] Speaker D: But I can. I got a sight line on Steve and everything. [00:28:43] Speaker C: So this. This owl character is definitely not in a. An aggressive stance. [00:28:49] Speaker A: Then Steve, can you roll insight? And Zozo, can you roll a persuasion? [00:28:57] Speaker C: Okay, 14 for insight? [00:29:01] Speaker A: And Rook, can you also roll an insight or perception as you assess the danger level? [00:29:09] Speaker F: I got a 9 on persuasion. [00:29:12] Speaker A: Okay. [00:29:13] Speaker D: 17 on either perception or insight. [00:29:18] Speaker A: Okay. Same modifier. [00:29:19] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:29:21] Speaker A: Well, which angle do you think you'd be taking? Which skill would you actually use? [00:29:25] Speaker D: I think I'd be going for my perception as to what I feel is going on. [00:29:31] Speaker A: Well, then you take a whole look at what has happened this evening. You guys re entered this city. Kaitoa just got ambushed. You've just been approached and kind of ambushed a second time. Your radar is up, Rook, and you are starting to think that Kaitoa was not so paranoid. You are very suspicious of the events of tonight, but not this character. This character truly seems to have Stumbled into your storyline. [00:30:07] Speaker D: Okay, well based on that I'm gonna put my Irgen's blade away and just continue forward to Steve is okay, you trudge ahead. [00:30:21] Speaker A: And now you are, you know, up there with Steve. Zozo, there is a half orc of some stature now joining this person you've been speaking with. And Kaitoa, when you long rest, I mean you're always in a state of, you know, semi awareness. And the door has been opened and Rook just left your immediate vicinity. And Beleg you have made it downstairs and you note that Rook has just departed from the threshold of the door. And otherwise there is the passed out engo Oldfoot. There is Kaitoa beginning to whirr. And what are you doing my half elf friend? [00:31:05] Speaker E: I'm running to the front door. On my way there I bop Kaitoa on the back of the head. Wake the fuck up, come on. And then go out the door. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Okay. You know you don't get off that easy. Can you roll a 1D4 for the BOP? [00:31:25] Speaker E: This is good. I apologize Caleb. [00:31:28] Speaker B: No worries. [00:31:30] Speaker E: It's a 2. [00:31:31] Speaker A: Well, as you know that means you deal no damage. Eric, you'll find out that there is a lot of friendly slapping and bopping. [00:31:40] Speaker F: Okay. [00:31:41] Speaker A: And we've developed a mechanic where a slap is a 1D4. As long as you roll a 1 or a 2, it has the intended effect. You slap the person and you deal no damage. But if you roll a three you actually will deal three damage. And if you roll a four you will actually deal four bludgeoning damage. But really, I mean it's kind of a crisp slap, isn't it? [00:32:12] Speaker E: I bought Goldfoot pretty hard. [00:32:14] Speaker A: Well, you know Steve, I didn't make you roll for that coaster fling damage. [00:32:22] Speaker E: I was wondering about that. [00:32:23] Speaker A: Yeah, that coaster dealt at least a scab breaking 1D4. [00:32:29] Speaker C: It was. It was a. What was it? A course. [00:32:33] Speaker A: You sharp shot him with the coaster. [00:32:35] Speaker E: Like man, coasters were pretty heavy back then. [00:32:39] Speaker B: And plus it was probably saturated with crusty beer. So it was like extra hard, nice and crunchy. [00:32:46] Speaker C: It's a cross section of a tree. [00:32:48] Speaker A: Basically it's just a wood disc. [00:32:50] Speaker E: Yeah, you threw a frisbee at his face. [00:32:55] Speaker A: Beleg. In this moment then as you bop Kaitoa and you now have made it to the threshold of the door. Yes, you see that Rook has made it up and is in lockstep with Steve. And there is this creature. I mean holy shit. Those were the two big glassy eyes. A peepin. [00:33:17] Speaker E: I see him. [00:33:19] Speaker A: Zozo. Can you now roll a perception again as a third part of this notorious party that rolled into Polb just a week and a half to two weeks ago and turned everything upside down. Can you roll as this party member now silhouettes themselves in the doorway? [00:33:41] Speaker F: Okay, that's a 22 nat 20. [00:33:48] Speaker A: The half elf Shapeshifter. The warlock of the group. Oh, you know a lot about him. [00:33:57] Speaker E: I was gonna cast banishment on him. [00:34:00] Speaker B: Are you guys. You guys are coming back into the building. [00:34:05] Speaker C: Well, he's gonna have to tell us what he or you guys still outside what he wants. [00:34:08] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah. [00:34:09] Speaker E: I got my finger like my finger pointed and primed at him. You know, give us a few minutes to talk about how we feel about this guy while he's in the netherverse. [00:34:21] Speaker B: What. [00:34:23] Speaker F: So. Yeah, no, sorry, that was, you know, very rude of me. I. I should have just introduced myself. I'm. I'm Dr. Zozo Brightfeather. [00:34:33] Speaker B: A doctor. [00:34:35] Speaker F: Doctor, yeah. [00:34:37] Speaker E: Can you come take a look at this cut? It's really. [00:34:41] Speaker F: I'm not really that kind of doctor. I mean, I could probably brew you up a potion to help with that. [00:34:55] Speaker E: Potions of healing you say? [00:34:58] Speaker F: Yeah, I could. I could toss them together right now if you wanted. [00:35:02] Speaker E: Well, get on our level and let's. Let's discuss things. [00:35:07] Speaker B: I'm gonna walk to the bar and pour some ales and bring them to this table in here. [00:35:15] Speaker F: If you guys are heading inside, I'll follow. [00:35:18] Speaker D: Rick loves ales. Dish me up a pint. [00:35:21] Speaker B: I wonder if I can use the cris bomb cold D4 to chill beer. [00:35:28] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:35:29] Speaker E: Yes you can. [00:35:30] Speaker B: And it's extra satisfying. [00:35:34] Speaker E: It's the first time we've ever had cold beer. Yeah, and it's incredible. [00:35:42] Speaker C: So he's not from here. But why. Why are you in pulp? [00:35:47] Speaker F: I've been staying at the the Alchemist Guild for. For the last few months. I was a traveling merchant. But my caravan was ransacked so all of my supplies were destroyed and my friends killed. [00:36:08] Speaker E: Ransacked by Gnolls. [00:36:11] Speaker F: I've been trying to find out. I'm not sure who it is. [00:36:17] Speaker B: Well, come in, have a seat and let's shut this door. [00:36:22] Speaker F: Gladly. [00:36:24] Speaker E: I'm still like fingers pointed on him. Not trusting. [00:36:28] Speaker F: Okay. Hey, I hope your owl's okay. [00:36:32] Speaker C: I assume I'm gonna try a. An insight check in seeing if this guy's talking shit or not about his story. [00:36:42] Speaker A: As you filter in through the front doors of the no longer called the White Chain. You would like to roll insight on him, Steve? Yeah. [00:36:53] Speaker C: What's this? That story that he told me. I want to see if. If there's any truth to it or if I can. [00:36:59] Speaker A: Okay. And Stas was returned to your poncho vortex. [00:37:03] Speaker F: Okay, perfect. [00:37:06] Speaker A: Roll that insight. [00:37:09] Speaker C: That's a 23 to insight. [00:37:11] Speaker A: Wow, Steve, you're getting good vibes from this character's, you know, general, honest relaying of their story. [00:37:24] Speaker E: Does Belleg notice Steve look up and down like his little. [00:37:29] Speaker A: Oh, Bellak. You should just say, I notice it. Can you roll perception? [00:37:34] Speaker E: Yeah, but I like. I like wrist. I like rolling dice. Especially like it. [00:37:39] Speaker C: I love what you. [00:37:40] Speaker E: Holy. That's another four. That's so. I've rolled this D23 times, and it's been a four every single time. [00:37:51] Speaker C: I love Bellic's perception check. [00:37:52] Speaker A: So, Bel. [00:37:53] Speaker B: Take a nap. [00:37:54] Speaker A: I mean, you do note one thing with your terrible roll, Although you do not see that Steve is really getting a chance to assess this stranger. You do note that this is a alchemist or an artificer of some ability. [00:38:17] Speaker E: Hmm. Well, keep my finger pointed at him. Took long enough to trust the three guys that are in my party. [00:38:26] Speaker A: Kaito Adelic holds finger guns up at the stranger who has introduced themselves. Now, you guys all have have a se. At one of these tables made for, you know, six. And there is the slumped form of Engo, sort of draped over the sixth chair. [00:38:49] Speaker B: Welcome. [00:38:50] Speaker A: Have a seat. [00:38:51] Speaker B: Yeah, don't worry about him, Lucy. [00:38:54] Speaker E: You got some explaining to do. [00:38:55] Speaker B: He hasn't been too much to drink. Don't worry about him, all right? [00:39:00] Speaker D: He's just sitting back enjoying a pint. [00:39:03] Speaker C: Of he's nearly dead time. [00:39:05] Speaker B: Please don't worry about Bellic there. Our party's been through a lot and. Yeah, let's find out a little more about you. [00:39:14] Speaker F: I'd like to find a little bit more about that poncho. That's pretty cool. Where'd you get that? [00:39:20] Speaker A: Oh, Steve. [00:39:21] Speaker F: Yeah, Steve, the. [00:39:23] Speaker C: The what? [00:39:24] Speaker F: The poncho. [00:39:25] Speaker B: Your derelict poncho? [00:39:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:39:27] Speaker C: No, no, the one in. In our. On our way to Pulba. [00:39:35] Speaker B: Your trash bag poncho. [00:39:39] Speaker C: Right before we nearly killed the fruit vendor. [00:39:42] Speaker E: Fuck that fruit vendor. [00:39:43] Speaker D: He was an asshat who nearly killed him. [00:39:48] Speaker C: So we, as a party, nearly killed him, but really, really. Rook almost did the killing again. [00:39:54] Speaker B: I overheard Zozo. You were saying you're a traveling merchant and you're banned. [00:39:59] Speaker A: Attacked. [00:40:01] Speaker F: Yeah, it was a. A couple months ago on the road outside of town here. [00:40:09] Speaker B: How do you make it out? [00:40:11] Speaker F: I was out on one of my nighttime forays. Into the. The forest, doing some studies, picking mushrooms. And when I got back, everything was on fire. Everybody was dead. [00:40:26] Speaker B: Sounds very fortunate. [00:40:27] Speaker E: Damn. [00:40:28] Speaker F: Well, I mean, everybody I knew and everything I owned was destroyed. But other than that, pretty fortunate. Yeah, very fortunate. [00:40:39] Speaker A: How convenient. [00:40:40] Speaker B: How convenient. [00:40:41] Speaker E: Everything destroyed. [00:40:44] Speaker B: I'm sorry. I've been around for a while and I've seen a lot of things die. [00:40:47] Speaker F: So. Yeah. [00:40:50] Speaker B: All right. Well, you were saying your profession is a alchemist of sorts? [00:40:56] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah, I grew potions and sell them. [00:41:01] Speaker C: So, what do you think of the new. The new representative government in Pol? [00:41:09] Speaker F: I haven't really been paying much attention to politics at the kind of. [00:41:14] Speaker A: Oh, that's good. [00:41:15] Speaker F: Excellent Guild hall. [00:41:17] Speaker C: Then we're good. [00:41:20] Speaker E: We're good. [00:41:21] Speaker D: Rook leans forward, very interested to his response. [00:41:27] Speaker B: So, I assume you've heard of us and what we've been up to since we came to this city. [00:41:33] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah, I've heard. I've heard some stories. [00:41:37] Speaker B: So I imagine knowing that you've come here, you've probably associated yourself with us. [00:41:45] Speaker F: Yeah, it's possible. [00:41:47] Speaker C: Well, everyone he knows just got murdered. [00:41:49] Speaker B: Yeah, that's true. [00:41:53] Speaker E: We have the upper hand. [00:41:57] Speaker C: I'm just glad we didn't set the fires that time. Jeez. [00:42:02] Speaker B: So you're saying you weren't sure who attacked your party? [00:42:05] Speaker F: No, no. I've been asking around, trying to get some information, but. [00:42:10] Speaker C: But how were they attacked? [00:42:12] Speaker E: You've unlocked a new side quest. [00:42:15] Speaker C: They were attacked outside of Pulva. [00:42:18] Speaker F: Yeah. Yeah, about a daze. [00:42:19] Speaker E: Where were you coming from? [00:42:20] Speaker F: The road. We were coming from Iz. [00:42:25] Speaker E: What were you doing in Iz? [00:42:27] Speaker F: Just passing through. We travel from all over. [00:42:31] Speaker B: Where are you from originally? [00:42:35] Speaker F: I've been grew up mainly out east. [00:42:39] Speaker E: I know you just created this character, but you better know every single fucking thing you've done. [00:42:50] Speaker B: Okay, being a man of alchemy, have you ever seen anything? [00:42:56] Speaker F: Actually. [00:42:56] Speaker B: Oh, sorry. A woman. [00:42:58] Speaker F: Sorry, humans get that wrong all the time. [00:43:01] Speaker E: Can you change Kaitoa's oil for us? [00:43:05] Speaker F: Sure, yeah. I dabbled in studying constructs. [00:43:11] Speaker E: Getting a little creaky. [00:43:12] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:43:14] Speaker B: So Zozo, I am sure you've noticed this slightly frozen cube on my back. [00:43:23] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:43:28] Speaker B: It'S taken a hit. It contains a fallen party member of ours. [00:43:34] Speaker F: I've actually seen it before. What? [00:43:37] Speaker B: We are constantly terrified that it's going to blow up. [00:43:41] Speaker E: Where have you seen it? [00:43:43] Speaker F: I'm acquainted with a gnome. [00:43:48] Speaker E: A gnome? What's its name? [00:43:51] Speaker F: Germ. [00:43:52] Speaker E: Oh, you've met Gurn. [00:43:53] Speaker F: Yeah, Gurm came to me with the that box and had me help out. [00:44:00] Speaker E: Oh, you were Involved in the cryopack? [00:44:03] Speaker F: Yeah, he needed some. Some deep gnome dry ice. [00:44:07] Speaker B: Nice. [00:44:08] Speaker F: I was able to procure it. [00:44:10] Speaker E: Guys, he thinks his name is Germ. [00:44:14] Speaker B: So would you be able to help me fix it? [00:44:17] Speaker F: Yeah, definitely. [00:44:18] Speaker B: So it doesn't rupture. [00:44:21] Speaker F: Yeah, you don't want that thing to rupture. [00:44:23] Speaker B: But I am interested in the use of venting its cold power at will. [00:44:29] Speaker C: I still want to be able to venture in a 50 foot cone if preferable. [00:44:36] Speaker F: I think I could manage that. [00:44:38] Speaker B: Not to throw that on you now, but definitely. If you'd like to frequent our establishment, I'd love to work on that with you. [00:44:48] Speaker F: For sure. Yeah. [00:44:50] Speaker A: If I may quickly interject in this moment, you know Kaitoa, you only got like two minutes into your long rest. You have all of these tiny little punctures and cuts all around your calf armor and your knees and your thighs. You just survived that kobold attack. The pack attack. And Zozo, as you look over to Kaitoa the construct and you do identify his slightly frozen back apparatus. Yeah. You note that the party is a little battle worn. It appears like they've been riding for days. [00:45:33] Speaker E: Days. [00:45:34] Speaker A: And then maybe only Beleg half elf appears to have maybe changed into his jammy jams. [00:45:43] Speaker E: I am in my jammy jams. [00:45:46] Speaker B: Zozo. I hope it's not offensive, but I definitely gotta do some maintenance on myself and so. And I think the party needs to rest. [00:45:58] Speaker E: Want to sleep together? [00:46:00] Speaker F: I mean if you need a hand with the maintenance. I. I've never worked on a. On a construct quite like. [00:46:07] Speaker A: Excellent. [00:46:08] Speaker B: Yeah. I have a toolkit that I use to repair myself. [00:46:13] Speaker E: You're not like other constructs. [00:46:17] Speaker B: But yeah. If you want to give me a hand, please. [00:46:23] Speaker C: I think. I think maybe at this point Steve has already taken to like making a game out of chucking coasters across the bar. [00:46:31] Speaker E: I'm also like Bellik's not too worried about how he knows Germ because he still calls him Gurn. So I just assume that he's like bumped into him once or twice and doesn't actually know him. [00:46:44] Speaker C: Well, we have rooms at very reasonable rates. If you like, we could meet with Durham tomorrow morning after we've had our rest. [00:46:55] Speaker E: Validated Steve's statement. [00:46:58] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah. I've got a room just around the corner. [00:47:02] Speaker C: Yes, but you have a danger room. [00:47:06] Speaker F: A danger room. No, I know I don't. [00:47:09] Speaker C: It's pretty sweet. [00:47:10] Speaker F: Do you have a danger room? [00:47:12] Speaker C: Oh, I had a danger room. [00:47:13] Speaker E: Don't go in there. You'll lose half your Feathers. [00:47:16] Speaker F: Oh, okay. [00:47:19] Speaker B: I just picture Steve like with his feet up trying to throw gorp into Oldfoot's mouth. [00:47:27] Speaker C: Just lobbing, just trying to fucking sky hook it in. [00:47:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:47:34] Speaker A: So Steve, as you're launching coasters and sort of offhand invite this stranger, you know, to stay. Yeah. [00:47:41] Speaker F: You. [00:47:42] Speaker A: You guys are aware that between the temple of Dan and the temple of Jebda is the Alchemists Guild hall of Pol. [00:47:53] Speaker B: All right. Well, are you guys gonna long rest? [00:47:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:47:57] Speaker E: Beleg is his finger guns are put away and like. Ah fuck this. He's just gonna go to bed again. [00:48:05] Speaker B: If you guys are gonna long rest. If Zozo, you don't mind, give me a hand with my repairs. [00:48:11] Speaker F: Yeah, definitely. [00:48:13] Speaker A: So party. What we'll do now? We're gonna go for our mid session pee break and all that. But Kaitoa, you will be sped up. Can you roll a 1D4 Kaitoa? And can you roll a 1D4, Zozor? [00:48:30] Speaker B: I got a 4. [00:48:31] Speaker E: Nice, nice. [00:48:33] Speaker A: What did Mr. Eric get? [00:48:36] Speaker F: Oh, sorry, I didn't know I'm wrong in D4. [00:48:39] Speaker A: One spiky D4. We love that D4. [00:48:42] Speaker F: 3. [00:48:43] Speaker A: 3. Oh boy. So you have significantly reduced the time that it has taken Kaitoa to address the ruptured cryogenic backpack problem. You extract a very strange looking gold fang from the cut in the pressure seal. And would you be able to tell me Zozo, what do you think you have done here to mend the slash along the pressure seal? [00:49:18] Speaker F: I think I maybe mixed together some kind of like a. A gluey hot substance to fill in the Kraken. And then it would it sets. [00:49:29] Speaker A: And Zozo, as you complete the backpack repairs, you notice that your subject has fallen into a sort of trance. You know, you can tell he has. He is now powered down into that kind of sleep mode. And he looks down. It looks like as you were working on his cryo backpack, it looks like he was looking at something in his palm. You are making to go. Is there anything else you would do as you bid farewell and we will pick us up in the morning. [00:50:05] Speaker F: I might just kind of take a quick like once over of the construct. [00:50:11] Speaker A: Okay. [00:50:12] Speaker F: I'm just curious just. Just to get a bit of study. Yeah. [00:50:15] Speaker A: Can you roll? [00:50:16] Speaker F: I try to do it subtly so that Steve doesn't. I don't think I'm a grate or anything. [00:50:21] Speaker A: An investigation or perception. [00:50:23] Speaker F: Okay, I think I'll do investigation. [00:50:26] Speaker A: That's a 10 mm. Oh, right on the nose. My friend meets it beats it. So you have learned quite a lot about what is going on here. Indeed. This is an ancient living construct. A real soul, a real being inside a material thing. The type of technology that cannot be reproduced in this age of the world. And you also notice as you peek over his gigantic metal shoulder plates, he seems to have extracted small like illuminating beacon. [00:51:12] Speaker F: Okay, all right. [00:51:14] Speaker B: Did we get the trigger, the frost switch installed? Or is that for a later date? [00:51:22] Speaker A: Oh, great question. This is a high D.C. and I will have Eric roll it with advantage. Were you able to somehow give him a little spigot? [00:51:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:51:37] Speaker F: Okay. [00:51:38] Speaker E: I do like how your steam bursts are now going to be frostbursts. Yeah, yeah. [00:51:46] Speaker C: Slushies. [00:51:47] Speaker A: What skill do you want to use, Zozo? [00:51:50] Speaker F: Okay, It's a good skill for that, Rook. [00:51:55] Speaker A: In this moment, sleight of hand, slight ahead. In this moment, you have drained the last of your pint. [00:52:04] Speaker D: Yeah, Rick's been, you know, I guess his guards down. He's enjoyed his pint of ode to Citra and he's going for long rest. Pretty. He's pretty bagged. Sleepy E is ready. [00:52:20] Speaker E: Hey, Tomo, how do you feel about us having oh, de citra on top of the white chair? [00:52:25] Speaker A: All right. [00:52:25] Speaker C: Sometimes it tastes vegetable. [00:52:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know. [00:52:29] Speaker E: I like that, man. [00:52:30] Speaker D: It's pretty good. [00:52:31] Speaker F: Odin. Wallflower is awesome. [00:52:34] Speaker C: Odu, wallflower is delicious. I haven't had a bad one yet. [00:52:37] Speaker E: That's so good. [00:52:38] Speaker C: I can't say the same for eau de citra. [00:52:40] Speaker B: I love how quickly we can just get distracted by beer. [00:52:45] Speaker D: Have you had the cans? [00:52:46] Speaker A: The cans are fucking phenomenal. [00:52:49] Speaker C: I'm sure they've locked it down by now. [00:52:51] Speaker B: But I've had some eau de citra that I like been like. That's not odyssetra like they've been so fucked. [00:52:57] Speaker D: Did you answer my question? Was it in the can or the overcooked bottle? [00:53:02] Speaker E: I haven't had a can of a decision yet. Yeah, Robulon cans are the superior package. [00:53:07] Speaker B: I've had it on tap too and been Depends. [00:53:10] Speaker A: No depends. [00:53:12] Speaker E: That's an adult diaper brand. [00:53:19] Speaker C: I've had an ode to overcook broccoli. [00:53:22] Speaker A: I'll tell you this, Boris, I kind. [00:53:24] Speaker E: Of want to write an ode to overcooked broccoli. [00:53:26] Speaker A: No, this Boris is amazing. [00:53:30] Speaker E: Oh, Boris is fucking awesome. [00:53:32] Speaker B: Okay, let's hurry up so I can go get a beer. [00:53:35] Speaker A: Mr. Mr. Eric. And doctor, what skill did you decide to leverage? [00:53:45] Speaker F: I'm. I'm trying to decide whether it be more. It would be like an insight Or I'm thinking it should be. Yeah, probably either an intelligence or a wisdom skill. [00:53:55] Speaker A: I will take anything and I'll base the result on the skill you choose. [00:53:59] Speaker B: Just pick your best one and your way of wiring. [00:54:03] Speaker E: Use your real life charisma. [00:54:06] Speaker B: That's how this game works. You pick your best one and bullshit while you're using it. [00:54:10] Speaker E: Okay. [00:54:11] Speaker F: I think maybe an investigation. Okay. Okay. So I rolled a 16. [00:54:17] Speaker A: Okay. You become keenly aware that this sarcophagus shaped addition to Kaitoa's regular adventure pack is a very simple layout. And you do manage to MacGyver a small release valve, conveniently not. Not where the scar was. You. You repaired the scar really well. But you're managing here to put a little release valve near one of the hinges. And Kaitoa, when you. If you make it through this long rest, you will wake up to quite the treat. [00:55:06] Speaker E: Is it like. Like a 5 foot radius? 4 or 1 D4 cold damage? Kind of like. [00:55:12] Speaker B: So we'll find out, I guess. [00:55:14] Speaker A: Kind of. It shoots over your shoulder. Predator style. [00:55:19] Speaker B: Sweet. [00:55:20] Speaker E: Can I. Sarcophagus shaped? I thought I've just been picturing a Coleman cooler strapped to his back. [00:55:30] Speaker B: Robin, did I keep the gold fang? [00:55:33] Speaker A: Oh, I cooler. [00:55:36] Speaker D: Is that the regular Coleman cooler? [00:55:38] Speaker F: Okay. [00:55:39] Speaker B: I guess when I wake up, I'll look for it. [00:55:41] Speaker A: Well, Zozo, when you extracted this very large gold fang, a very shiny curious object. What did you do with it? [00:55:52] Speaker B: It's totally cool. [00:55:53] Speaker F: I think I pocketed it. [00:55:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. I was like, most likely he stole it. [00:55:58] Speaker A: Can you make a sleight of hand check, please? [00:56:02] Speaker F: All right, Zozo, that's 10. [00:56:05] Speaker A: Okay. And Steve, as you bid farewell to this personage and Rook, as you also bid farewell to this personage as they leave the door, let's see your passive perception. Probably Steve, you noticed that this character has pocketed something during the early stages of the backpack procedure. And now you are at the threshold of the door there, Dr. Zozo. And as you turn around, you see Kaitoa there, you know, sleeping away. You see this hulking half orc drain his glass and make for the stairway. And you see this human ranger who had the owl familiar halfway up the staircase to the upper levels. [00:56:54] Speaker C: Oh, actually I'm gonna. I'm gonna help him out. [00:56:58] Speaker E: Y'all like him freaks me out. [00:57:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I just wanna. [00:57:03] Speaker C: I just want to know a little bit more about his travels and where he came from. And he mentioned the east. So I'm going to. I'm going. I'll walk you over to the alchemists, Whatever it is. [00:57:11] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:57:13] Speaker B: I'm not a ticking time bomb anymore, Belike. And I have a cold blast. [00:57:20] Speaker E: You're always a ticking time bomb. [00:57:23] Speaker B: That's emotionally, yes. [00:57:25] Speaker E: Blick is not a ticking time bomb anymore. [00:57:27] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. And that is where we will have to leave you until the next time on Dungeons and Blackguards.
