[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers, to another episode of Dungeons and Blackguards. I am your dungeon master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players. Brandon. [00:00:17] Speaker B: I am Ekaruk Hoonshleigh. Half orc, level six bloodhunter. [00:00:23] Speaker A: Calo. I am Kaito Otaka. [00:00:27] Speaker C: I have an axe. [00:00:28] Speaker A: I am a warforged barbarian hobo. [00:00:33] Speaker D: Hey, I'm Steve Tedman. I am a level five gloom stalker ranger. [00:00:38] Speaker B: Level one rogue. [00:00:39] Speaker E: And I have a magic hour multiclasser. [00:00:43] Speaker A: I'm Antsyden. [00:00:46] Speaker E: I'm Raiden. I am playing Bellic. De Garde, level six half elf warlock. [00:00:54] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blackguards. The battle of Iz rages on. The four adventurers continue to wage an increasingly brutal and bloody battle against an army of well coordinated knolls, now reinforced by a host of 60 cavalry led by the fellow with a yellow shield. Facing seemingly insurmountable odds, the party makes use of their athletic and acrobatic skills to perform a series of retreats and counterattacks, ending with high flying jumps down. Finally, from the burning rooftops. After making quick work of four knoll riders, two of the party are already on horseback. And in this very brief moment of respite from enemy attacks, the party decides on their next course of action. [00:01:54] Speaker D: PTFO. [00:01:55] Speaker E: Am I one of the people on horseback? I can't remember. [00:01:59] Speaker A: You are. [00:02:00] Speaker E: Okay, sweet. [00:02:01] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:02:02] Speaker C: Where are Steve and right there. [00:02:05] Speaker B: I think that's Bell Egg there. [00:02:07] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:08] Speaker B: Okay, I'm gonna go for a horsey. And that's splinters that I landed on. [00:02:14] Speaker D: Right. [00:02:15] Speaker C: Robin, there's a bit of a graphic underneath me. [00:02:19] Speaker A: Kaitoa. That is no graphic. Those are the pieces of Max Planck. [00:02:26] Speaker D: Oh, right. [00:02:27] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:27] Speaker A: Now. [00:02:30] Speaker B: I'm gonna hop down and go for a horse. [00:02:33] Speaker A: Yeah. You're saying horsey. Horsey. And they are just a vault away where you saw Beleg and Steve get onto these horses. Bell Egg, you're on the horse that had stolas on it a moment ago. [00:02:47] Speaker E: I don't remember. Let's say. [00:02:51] Speaker C: Sure. [00:02:51] Speaker A: Okay. [00:02:52] Speaker E: I was pretty shit hammed at the end of last session. [00:02:55] Speaker A: Yeah. Kaitoa, you there in the rubble. [00:03:00] Speaker C: I'm down on the ground. [00:03:01] Speaker A: You are just at the corner where the building sort of crumbled away. You are at the corner. [00:03:11] Speaker C: How high up am I? [00:03:14] Speaker A: 0Ft off the ground. Oh, okay. [00:03:16] Speaker C: Sweet. [00:03:18] Speaker A: I was just worried because I was. [00:03:20] Speaker C: Like, if I hop on this horse's back, I'm just gonna break it. It's gonna be like the princess bride with the maiden just jumps and the horse moves. [00:03:30] Speaker A: The good fortune, Kaitoa is, although you sort of just missed the jump and destroyed the edge of this building, your freeze blick or crisp bomb has not ruptured, and you are down a ground level. So maybe a better opportunity to hop on a horse as you see them begin to start galloping in front of your eyes. [00:03:55] Speaker C: The third one in line. As soon as passes, I'm gonna throw my arm up around its neck and swing myself up on the saddle. [00:04:02] Speaker E: The horse wheezes. [00:04:07] Speaker A: Can you roll, Kaitoa? An animal handling? Yeah. [00:04:12] Speaker D: So I think, yeah, Steve is on his horse, and he's kind of looking to go west for everyone else to get on their horse. [00:04:22] Speaker C: That's a seven. [00:04:25] Speaker A: Okay, you're just behind Steve. Steve, you have this lead horse that was influenced in a most curious way by the owl. And can you also. Now, we'll say that there's some sort of help action going on here. So either Kaitoa roll again at advantage because of the latent Stolas effect, or. Yeah, let's do that. Let's do that. [00:04:53] Speaker C: Sold. 18. [00:04:58] Speaker A: There is a curious, calming effect that has happened. Steve in the lead, you are joined by Kaitoa to your left. He is atop the steed, and they have come up right beside you, rookie, the only one now left on the roof. And in order, there goes Steve and Kaitoa and Beleg. And then just in the rear is another horse kind of catching up to beleg and will be passing you momentarily. [00:05:26] Speaker B: Okay, well, as it's passing by me, I'm gonna hop on. [00:05:33] Speaker A: Oh, you are doing the princess bride move, and the horse has come to a little bit of a trot. And you, you can do this year about, I'd say about 12ft up. Rook. [00:05:47] Speaker B: Gonna hop down and go on or hot leap on to him. [00:05:52] Speaker A: Okay. Hope you're wearing your cup. [00:05:54] Speaker E: Yeah, I've seen his testicles. They're gonna hurt. [00:05:57] Speaker A: Can you roll in succession? First, a little athletics and then the animal handling. [00:06:07] Speaker E: So we going for the southwest gate. [00:06:10] Speaker B: Athletics. Let's see here. Athletics. That's 18. [00:06:17] Speaker A: Rook, you are heavy, but you are spry, and you have managed to hit that saddle nice. [00:06:25] Speaker B: And then animal handling. I'm gonna use inspiration. [00:06:32] Speaker E: 14. [00:06:33] Speaker A: All right. You have surgeonly disturbed the constitution of this horse momentarily, and, you know, you feel him give a bit of a start and a neighborhood, and he's making quite a bit of noise, rook, but you're on top of him, and he is champing and stomping. [00:06:54] Speaker B: Now, can I use my strength to reel him in? And control him. [00:07:01] Speaker A: You can try and sort of reel him in, but I think the party is, at the moment noticing that you've made it, but just barely. But, yeah, you've got the reins. You're secure up there, rook. You guys, in this moment, Stolas will be alerting you, Steve, right now to the fact that you are in a tight spot. You are being encroached upon from all angles. Although the party cannot see the events transpiring in the road slightly to your. Your south there, your stolas, soaring above, can see that the keep is emptying out like ants from an anthill. Gnolls that were assembling in that front courtyard, they have dispersed. You guys are by no means hemmed in. There appear to be several groups of knolls, though, patrolling these streets, you know, in groups of seven or eight. And more pressingly as well, the second and third wave of mounted knolls, the cavalry, are coming in from the northern road towards the bridge and the river. And so you have only moments to act. [00:08:10] Speaker D: How are we. How are we looking to the west? [00:08:14] Speaker B: Let's go for it. I say. Yeah, yeah, let's just do it. [00:08:19] Speaker D: Do you want to, like, punch? [00:08:20] Speaker E: Yeah, shoot. Shoot straight west and then cut back to the southwest gate. [00:08:27] Speaker D: Yeah, I think that's where we're gonna end up going. [00:08:30] Speaker E: Yeah, just straight west until we hit that group of. [00:08:33] Speaker D: Or else we can west. And, button, hook up the west river gate. What's. [00:08:38] Speaker E: What's north of there? [00:08:39] Speaker D: I think the southwest gate. I mean, that's closest to our location of fresh horses. [00:08:44] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I say we go for the southwest, just shoot as far west as we can, and then hang a Larry and bust down south. [00:08:54] Speaker B: Yeah, let's do it. [00:08:58] Speaker D: So, Rob, I was gonna. I was gonna ask, since Steve is being here, and he's got that wonderful photographic photo, whatever, recall, photogenic memory. [00:09:11] Speaker A: Oh, yes. [00:09:14] Speaker D: He knows his way around this town. Can I use that to my advantage as far as understanding where the southwest gate would be and the best way to. [00:09:24] Speaker A: Oh, absolutely. I mean, again, is. Is really only almost a mile, mile and a half in radius. And it's clear to you where you came back in? It is roughly divided in sort of the 01:00 position is the two bridges and the gates to the north. Then the 04:00 position is the southeastern gate. And then in the sort of, what, 07:00 position is where you guys came in, you picked a part of wall between towers. There are 20 towers, and there are, you know, four gates, and the distance between towers is about, you know, 200 to 300ft. The neighborhoods were closing up. Now they are deserted ever since that knoll horn blew off some while back. And you would have no problem, Steve sort of getting the party through. And with Stolas as well. You'll have that higher, higher view as long as he maintains that position. And the west you discussed, there's certainly no cavalry there, but you are sort of dashing right past the doorstep to the keep. [00:10:26] Speaker D: Okay, I'm going to ask Stolas to give us. To lead us in a. In a good direction not to lead us, keep us from running right into like a giant squad or. [00:10:40] Speaker A: Okay, great. So I'll sort of apply a bit of a bonus and a bit of advantage to everything happening there. Well then, party. The sounds of hooves have not subsided at all. There are several torch lights out in the main streets in front of you. The building is on fire. The large warehouse, it is now being engulfed from the top. And you are all riding these war horses with these actually quite well fashioned nol war saddles. What are you doing? Heading west. [00:11:17] Speaker E: Aren't we charging west? [00:11:19] Speaker B: Yep, going west. [00:11:22] Speaker E: Heading down west. Emerlin Gap, Downton City. [00:11:26] Speaker B: Petch up boy said go west. [00:11:29] Speaker A: As you guys charge out of this cluster of buildings here, can you roll initiative? There is one knoll standing right in the middle of the street, about 80ft away, actually. The moment you charge out of this neighborhood, you are seen. Yeah, it's like war horse, you have barely moved 10ft. [00:11:54] Speaker D: Okay, I'm gonna run that fucker down. So initiative receive is 14. Sorry, 14 plus, yeah. [00:12:05] Speaker A: 1717 Kaitoa. Bell egg rook roller a knee shot the elf. [00:12:12] Speaker E: I got a 1218. [00:12:17] Speaker A: Mister half elf Bell egg nine, nine, nine. And I'm gonna roll initiative here stole. [00:12:27] Speaker D: This, got an 18. [00:12:29] Speaker A: Nat 20. [00:12:30] Speaker D: Oh, fuck. [00:12:31] Speaker B: Natty twins, eh? [00:12:34] Speaker A: Yeah, Nat 20. So the gnoll in the street turns and runs, is able to make a move. And he turns and faces southwards down the street and lets out a null cry, now making to intercept the party. [00:13:01] Speaker B: Jeepers. [00:13:03] Speaker A: The gnoll in the street. He has drawn a sword and buckler and takes a defensive stance. Rook, you are up at the top of the order. [00:13:21] Speaker B: I'm gonna just go full on. So with the horses, how. How far do they move? [00:13:29] Speaker D: 60. [00:13:29] Speaker B: And it's. [00:13:30] Speaker C: Yeah, I think it's where horse has 60. And if you're like, what is it, 20ft? You can do like the who stomping attack. [00:13:39] Speaker B: You move up my 60 to right. Yeah. And then I got fire at this center guy. [00:13:50] Speaker A: Oh, wow. Okay. [00:13:52] Speaker C: Japanese. [00:13:54] Speaker A: Mounted on this war horse. Rook, you're gonna draw your longbow. You're taking a shot at this formation. Yeah. [00:14:04] Speaker B: Oh, that one is not gonna hit. [00:14:10] Speaker A: Two of these gnolls have shields and swords. And what? Five of them seem to be brandishing long handled axes. [00:14:20] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a total of eight on my shot. [00:14:23] Speaker A: Whoa. Well, your arrow is falling into the middle of the formation, breaking down to the flagstones of the street here. What's next? [00:14:35] Speaker B: I will do one more thing on another one. Hopefully fare better this time. Oh, yeah. 24. [00:14:44] Speaker A: Okay, can you point to again? Just indicate which one you're going for. [00:14:53] Speaker B: The center most lead. Okay. [00:14:58] Speaker A: Right into the middle of the pack. I'm going for the heart. Can you roll damage? [00:15:04] Speaker B: I can be a five. Five. Danny. [00:15:11] Speaker A: Hmm. Okay, he seems to take it here in the upper body. Okay, what's next? [00:15:22] Speaker B: Going to demo Mike movement and shooting her attacks. So I will turn back to the group and let them know that there's some gnolls in our way here that we're gonna have to stomp through, figure a way forward. [00:15:42] Speaker C: Save me that asshole in the corner, because he's the only guy I can reach. [00:15:47] Speaker A: Okay, rook, as you try and make a bit of contact back, you shout back to the party, which is hot on your heels, or hooves, as it were. Steve, you are up. And can you also roll for Stolas, please? [00:16:03] Speaker D: I did. Stolas was an 18. [00:16:06] Speaker A: Oh, so actually, he's up, or the owl's up just before you. Okay, so then Stolas. [00:16:13] Speaker D: That Stolas right there. Double move. [00:16:18] Speaker E: Am I the only person who's planning on dashing with my horse and getting out of here as fast and possible? [00:16:23] Speaker C: What is dash is double movement, right? [00:16:25] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. [00:16:27] Speaker C: It's still not far, though. [00:16:29] Speaker B: 120, right? You still got it like we did. [00:16:33] Speaker C: We'd be dashing right into the combat. [00:16:35] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:16:37] Speaker A: Okay. Stolas has sword along this neighborhood, and Stolas should be giving you the view of the keep, too, right? [00:16:47] Speaker D: Mm hmm. [00:16:47] Speaker A: Okay. [00:16:48] Speaker C: Oh, but of course. [00:16:50] Speaker A: So. [00:16:52] Speaker C: Oh, what is that thing on the ground? [00:16:54] Speaker A: This is what Stolas sees as he swoops towards these seven gnolls. The foot soldiers here, Steve. And Stolas is now in visual range as he soars over the highest buildings here of this little neighborhood of the street below the walls of the keep. And there is at that intersection way over there, the fellow with the yellow shield, the figure in blue, and still the fog wall, obscuring a lot of what's going on. What else is Stolas doing? [00:17:32] Speaker D: Uh, that's. I mean, that's about it. I just doubled his movement. [00:17:36] Speaker A: Full movement. [00:17:39] Speaker D: Flying sprint, div act. [00:17:44] Speaker C: You're the horse trample. That you can do trampling charge if you. If you sprint. Can you still do that? [00:17:57] Speaker A: If the horse moves at least 20ft towards a straight creature and then hits it with a hooves attack on the same turn. Are you saying, sir, are you saying, can you dash and trample or just move in, trample? [00:18:09] Speaker C: Can I dash and trample? [00:18:10] Speaker A: No, you can move in, trample. Be careful. [00:18:14] Speaker C: So the trampol is like a bonus action. [00:18:16] Speaker A: It's. It's your action. It's your attack. [00:18:18] Speaker D: How to be within actions. [00:18:21] Speaker A: Hooves. Melee weapon attack. Six to hit, reach 5ft. One target is two D six plus four, bludgeoning by hoof. Okay, so. [00:18:35] Speaker D: I'm gonna. And then I'm going to. This is the guy that acted already, right? These guys haven't acted yet. [00:18:52] Speaker A: Precisely, Steve. So the other ones are only one horse dash away, guys. Away from the four score. Don't forget about them. [00:19:05] Speaker C: What do they need to be in range for combat? [00:19:08] Speaker E: Well, they can't attack if they dash. [00:19:11] Speaker C: But will they start initiative? [00:19:12] Speaker D: No. [00:19:13] Speaker A: So that's for me. Full disclosure, you're in initiative with three groups right now. The one, no huddling the foot soldiers in your immediate view, and then everything else on the map has also rolled initiative against. [00:19:26] Speaker C: Oh, wow. [00:19:28] Speaker D: Yeah. So we got a GTFO. [00:19:40] Speaker C: Grown. [00:19:41] Speaker D: All right, I'm gonna. I'm still gonna let these. These motherfuckers. All right, just to soften them shits up. Yeah, so this guy gets. That's marked and I have three. Three shots? Yes, three shots. [00:20:03] Speaker A: Okay, shoot those arrows. [00:20:06] Speaker D: 19 to hit. Okay, that hits. So that hits. That is 29 damage. [00:20:18] Speaker C: Nice. [00:20:19] Speaker A: 29 damage. One shot, one kill. Nice. [00:20:26] Speaker D: Number two. Are you just gonna. Are you just gonna stride forward? [00:20:33] Speaker C: Well, are we going straight west? Are we going to get the. [00:20:37] Speaker D: I just. I didn't even notice those horsemen behind us. [00:20:39] Speaker A: Steve, as you turn back to shout to Kaitoa, you have used your interaction. [00:20:44] Speaker D: No more shots. [00:20:46] Speaker A: And you have no two more shots. But your interacting days are over in this move. [00:20:51] Speaker D: All right, this guy's getting shot then. [00:20:54] Speaker A: Oh, the one close to you, right, Mister Huddle? [00:20:57] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:20:58] Speaker A: Okay, yeah. [00:20:59] Speaker D: 19 to hit. [00:21:01] Speaker A: He is going to cuddle with that arrow for. [00:21:07] Speaker D: 21 damage. [00:21:10] Speaker A: And although he was using this shield, this buckler to, you know, shield his face here, you caught him right in the throat, and he is bleeding heavily against the side of this wall. Next. [00:21:29] Speaker D: All right, that guy there. [00:21:31] Speaker A: And you've taken a bead again on the. What is it now? Only six foot soldiers, and there are. Yeah, with these long, mean axes. Roll on their armor. [00:21:43] Speaker D: Unless I. Unless their ac is nine, then I miss. [00:21:47] Speaker A: And you have not hit them. All you've hit is the. The flagstones that they're charging along. So, Steve, atop your steed. Is that it? [00:22:00] Speaker D: Did my move? Did my attack, did my interaction? [00:22:03] Speaker C: Yep. [00:22:04] Speaker A: Kaitoa. [00:22:05] Speaker C: All right, I'm just gonna try and catch up, and since that guy's almost dead, I'm gonna take my 120. [00:22:17] Speaker A: And. [00:22:18] Speaker C: Just rip behind the COVID of this building a bit. So, out of sight from the horseman. [00:22:27] Speaker A: Well, then, Kaitoa, you would see a dead body and a huge pool of claret on the street. There's already been a casualty dealt at the front lines of this kind of the south western front here. And, yeah, you've charged into. There's a small alleyway behind the forge. There is. Looks like what a. Like a storehouse behind you. And you're right up here in the corner. Anything else? [00:22:58] Speaker C: Oh, my God. [00:23:01] Speaker A: Your horse pants and wheezes but now is actually sort of champing and is quite happy to have made the dash with you. [00:23:10] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm just gonna give it a little pat. [00:23:14] Speaker A: Just hang out there, Kaitoa. Your move is concluded. You're going to be followed up by. So Beleg nine. Yep. Yeah. Now the foot soldiers are charging forward, and they have a huge distance to clear, but they're making it up to the stolis line. Now, beleg, your move. As you see, the one huddling knoll here, and he seems to be, you know, readying any sort of defense he can muster. And as you charge forward, you are now up in concert with Steve and rook. [00:23:58] Speaker E: Well, since this guy's still alive, I'll fire two eldritch blasts at him. [00:24:06] Speaker C: Sounds like overkill, but he will for sure die. [00:24:10] Speaker A: Double beaming. [00:24:12] Speaker E: So that's a. [00:24:16] Speaker A: 16 you're gonna hit with that first blast. Bell. Egg roll damage, or you want to roll the other one? [00:24:24] Speaker E: My second blast is an 18. [00:24:26] Speaker A: Oh, you're connecting with both of your creepy blasts. [00:24:32] Speaker E: And that's a nine and a ten. Gross. Yeah, that was overkill. [00:24:41] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:24:42] Speaker E: 19 damage to him. [00:24:44] Speaker A: Okay, this kind of huddling noise and his last gasp, his defensive position. How do you take him into the afterlife? [00:24:52] Speaker E: Oh, the two blasts go straight to his chest, eyes roll back into his head, and then fall back into his. [00:25:00] Speaker D: Head and then come out of his mouth. [00:25:02] Speaker E: Yeah, like a gumball machine. [00:25:08] Speaker A: Oh, no. Yet you are twisting and contorting, and he has gone. Bellic, is there anything else in your move? You've done your movement atop your steed. You have an interaction left, kind of free movement. [00:25:25] Speaker E: Bellic's pretty focused. He's going to stay quiet. [00:25:32] Speaker A: The thundering of hooves, as you guys, as you're prone to do in the midst of battle. And when fate hangs in the balance, as you kind of chortle and cajole and sing a little tune, the thundering of hooves is deafening. The distance is closed significantly with this first score, this first dozen. Right behind them was that second ride. And then in that initial y position at the top, you see again the next ride of gnolls, and they are absolutely bearing down on the party. The small benefits that I'll give here to Stolas for forgetting one of his turns last session, Steve, is that Stolas is also keenly noting this yellow shield figure has drawn near to the bodies of the knoll. You know, those heavily armored knoll guards that were flanking the figure in blue armor. He's drawn near to them, and it seems that his group of eight are holding back a little bit. So just beyond the fog wall, the half elf warlocks fog wall that still continues to wisp around there, guys, you're surrounded on all of the angles, except for where Kaitoa is nestled into the corner of a couple of buildings near where the huddling knoll just got blasted into oblivion. And now, at the top of the order would have been nat 20, huddle Knoll. He is gone. Rook, you are out now. [00:27:27] Speaker B: I'm going to run away. Yeah. Dash, Rob, are we. Where are we? We're right? [00:27:34] Speaker C: Think so. We're right on the corner of that gap almost. [00:27:39] Speaker A: Right. Right about. [00:27:41] Speaker B: Hey. Well, I'm gonna dash my 120 close to Kaitoa and keep going west. [00:27:50] Speaker A: Okay? [00:27:51] Speaker C: Mm hmm. [00:27:52] Speaker A: And you have begun to dash across the open courtyard. This is where this palisade with rough hewn timbers and this mustering grounds has been erected. So, Rook, you are just dashing past the now, what, six or so foot soldiers, and your steed carries your weight. You are galloping away from the party. What else? [00:28:24] Speaker B: Probably that's it. [00:28:26] Speaker A: Okay. [00:28:27] Speaker D: That's all I got. [00:28:29] Speaker A: Owl Stolas. [00:28:32] Speaker D: Okay. For Solas. So the idea with Stolas that I want to have him do is to basically scout ahead and to give us a line to ride towards. So. [00:28:52] Speaker C: So he flies ahead, sits on a building corner. We ride to that corner. He flies ahead to the next building. We ride to that building. I just like the idea of, like, stolas being like, the Google maps being like, rerouting. [00:29:05] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:29:06] Speaker C: So, like. And he's like, there is traffic and hazards ahead. Rerouting. [00:29:11] Speaker D: Yeah, he's giving us the, like, the, the amber to red lane. Stay out of here. There's construction kind of stuff. [00:29:21] Speaker C: There is a 15 mil delay ahead. Yeah, reroute. [00:29:26] Speaker D: So flying ahead, basically giving. Giving me a beacon as Steve to catch up to. [00:29:37] Speaker A: That means, Steve, you're just hot on the hooves of rookhood. Yeah, well, yeah. [00:29:42] Speaker D: On my turn, I will. I will begin to just go straight for riding. No fighting. [00:29:48] Speaker A: Okay. And then. So you have sheathed your bow, that is back on your back, a poncho pulled tight about your neck. You are booking it. [00:29:59] Speaker D: Before I. Before I go running ahead of compatriots, I want to drop all three bags of ball bearings on the street. [00:30:10] Speaker C: Yes. Anyone has anything to drop? [00:30:15] Speaker E: Yeah, I have one bag of caltrops that I was thinking about dropping as well. [00:30:19] Speaker D: I have. I don't know how many ball bearings are in the bag, but I'm dropping all three behind this. [00:30:25] Speaker E: Well, one bag. What does it do? Like a five foot by five. Five foot cube? Is that what it supposed to do? [00:30:32] Speaker D: That's the cow, that's the couch I pulled. Bag of ball bearings, sack of a thousand ball bearings. So as an action, you can spill these tiny metal balls from their pouch to cover a level square area that is 10ft on a side. [00:30:47] Speaker C: And how many sacks you have? [00:30:49] Speaker D: I have three. [00:30:50] Speaker E: I'll cover the rest with the caltrops. When I bust out. [00:30:53] Speaker D: A creature moving across the covered area must succeed on a DC ten dexterity saving throw or fall prone. [00:31:00] Speaker A: A horse is a creature. [00:31:02] Speaker D: There we go. [00:31:03] Speaker A: Your goal then, Steve, as you evacuate the scene, is to spread them roughly, evenly along your trail. [00:31:12] Speaker D: Yeah, like, I want to in almost the way that I would like to. We've got, like, our group of horses. If I can envision like a ten foot, ten foot spot, that would be that we almost go. The guys chasing us to follow us. [00:31:29] Speaker A: You lay, you lay that out in sort of a, a way in which you think would hopefully catch the majority of the Knowles. And it's not a hugely wide street here. It's about 30ft or so. So, yeah, with a little bit of. [00:31:45] Speaker D: Strategy, I want to lay a ball trap. [00:31:50] Speaker A: We'll assume that, say, about two thirds of this choke point, you have laid these thousands of tiny ball bearings. And then, Bellic, you mentioned something about joining in with some spiky treats for feats? [00:32:05] Speaker E: Yeah, I got a bag of caltrops. [00:32:07] Speaker A: That I could toss Kai. Steve, was there anything else in your move? [00:32:11] Speaker D: No, I am going when I get a chance. I'm taking that horse into a dead sprint, too. [00:32:18] Speaker A: Okay, so you'll be trailing rook. You'll just be passing Kaitoa's position here. And Kaitoa, you are up. [00:32:28] Speaker C: I'm gonna take my 120 again and sprint ahead of the group. [00:32:33] Speaker A: Yeah, so you would be passing rook at half of your movement, and, yeah, if you're dashing. Okay, so, Kaitoa, you would be dashing along the same vector he was going. [00:32:42] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, so Steve's ahead of me. So that works perfect that Stolas can give me a heads up before I move. [00:32:49] Speaker A: So then I'm gonna take you to the larger map here. There is the main street. You guys have indicated here that you're making towards. Just keep on going on the large street. [00:33:01] Speaker D: Yeah, we're getting the all clear from yes. [00:33:05] Speaker A: Oh, you mean Steve's ahead of you in order? Yes. [00:33:08] Speaker C: Yeah, so therefore, I'm not gonna sprint ahead and, like, go the wrong way or something like that, but. [00:33:12] Speaker A: Okay, so I'm starting to put little. Little racing icons along your little line here. [00:33:19] Speaker C: Take Mario Kart. [00:33:20] Speaker D: I was thinking wipeout Xl, Kaito, anything else? Internal shells and spike traps behind us. [00:33:29] Speaker A: Kaito, is there anything else in your move here? You have eclipsed rook. Dashing forward there. Your horse seems to be pleased to be charging under your command. [00:33:44] Speaker C: No, I'm just gonna again give my. [00:33:46] Speaker E: Horse a little pat, and that's all I got. [00:33:50] Speaker A: Bell egg, my upper. [00:33:52] Speaker E: The foot soldiers up. [00:33:53] Speaker A: First, the foot soldiers have continued, and now they are fanning out. As much as they might try, they seem to still not quite make it to, you know, where they actually might hem you in, but they are clearly fanning out and upwards towards you as fast as they might charge, boy. Luckily, none of these seem to be armed with bows and arrows. You are up, and the screaming is blood curdling in your ears, Bella. [00:34:35] Speaker E: I am going to do the same thing everybody did. Dash out. So I should catch up with Steve and rook, and then I'm going to scatter my caltrops as I dash out. Like around here. [00:34:57] Speaker C: I wish we could hang out and watch this happen. [00:35:02] Speaker D: I hope it works. [00:35:03] Speaker C: It's kind of like home alone. I want to hide above the banister and just watch them fall. [00:35:09] Speaker A: Obligatory home loan reference. We've already had three. [00:35:12] Speaker D: Can I change Steve's name to Kevin? [00:35:15] Speaker A: Yeah. So the half elf warlock as he charges away. You are making to leave a parting gift. [00:35:27] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:35:28] Speaker A: Okay. [00:35:29] Speaker E: Yeah, I. About halfway through, I just reach into my bag, grab the bag of caltrops and kind of haphazardly throw them behind us and keep on going. [00:35:44] Speaker A: Nonchalant. These things are kind of plinking along the ground and party, you are off and the dust goes up in little clouds behind you and in this order, Kaitoa, you are leading at the moment. Rook, you're trailing Kaitoa. He's just eclipsed you. Steve, you are roughly up with rook. And Beleg, you are just catching up to where Steve and Rookhood are as well. Finally, the owl soars roughly above on what, like, say about 60ft above you guys, would you say Steve? [00:36:31] Speaker D: Yep. [00:36:31] Speaker A: Okay, so about twice as high as the rooftops. That makes sense. Yep. [00:36:37] Speaker D: Okay. Okay. [00:36:41] Speaker A: We're going to the big map. [00:36:46] Speaker C: I just can't wait for the movie music to go from Game of Thrones to, like, Benny Hill. As soon as, like, they, they hit the caltrops and like, superfluity. [00:37:08] Speaker E: Oh, fade perfectly. [00:37:16] Speaker C: And the horses just like, spilling out. Note to self and party, buy more caltrops. We're always being chased by something. [00:37:31] Speaker D: Oh, man, caltrops, ball bearings. They're fucking awesome. [00:37:35] Speaker A: So what you guys have done here is, am I to understand there, Bellig, you've now dropped your caltrops, you've now joined the party. You guys are escaping along the streets. Am I to understand that for all intents and purposes, you've disengaged and stolas is keeping an eye kind of to the front but also on your flanks and to the rear? [00:37:56] Speaker D: Yep. So Solas did a double sprint over the past two rounds. So, like, I've got him basically sprinting ahead and picking the best option. [00:38:07] Speaker C: He's spotting lines. [00:38:09] Speaker D: He's our. He's our north star, so to speak. [00:38:12] Speaker E: Is this like a quick time event where we have to press circle and square at the right time, take the right turn? [00:38:18] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Wipe that pizza grease off, boys. [00:38:22] Speaker C: I hate those games. [00:38:23] Speaker B: This pizza grease makes it better. [00:38:25] Speaker A: It didn't make any sense. Yeah, that's how you run. You click buttons at the same time. No, what this is going to be essentially, you guys have indicated where you would like to go. We know that you're essentially in rapid succession from each other. So I will simply have you guys move in in turn. We'll preserve the initiative just for simplicity's sake. Yeah. Terrifying screams are going up behind you guys. And rookie, you're at the top of the order. [00:38:57] Speaker B: Atop your steed, I will dash another 120 west and the guidance of Stolis. [00:39:06] Speaker A: Okay, and then, Steve and the owl, you're up next. And I will alert you and Steve and the owl to the fact that there are dozens now of foot soldiers charging upwards and across that courtyard towards your position. You're absolutely seen and pursued. A knoll horn blast goes up from the walls of the keep for the second time tonight. [00:39:38] Speaker D: Okay. [00:39:39] Speaker C: Should have saved some caltrops. [00:39:42] Speaker D: Oh, I have plenty of caltrops. [00:39:46] Speaker A: Steve, in your move. What are you doing? [00:39:50] Speaker D: Well, I'm keeping pace with rook if he's burning out. Yeah. How is it looking behind us? [00:40:01] Speaker A: Simply terrifying in terms of the sheer numbers of cavalry they are spilling through. They're just encountering the area where you guys laid your ground traps. [00:40:16] Speaker D: Follow the owl. [00:40:18] Speaker C: Sweet. Sees moved already? [00:40:23] Speaker A: Yep. [00:40:25] Speaker D: Oh, wow. But, yeah, right up here. [00:40:30] Speaker C: Also gonna move. [00:40:31] Speaker D: Mega stole this. [00:40:34] Speaker C: Yeah, he's really high and close to the camera. [00:40:38] Speaker D: Yeah, he's reached his new level of evolution. [00:40:42] Speaker A: Kaitoa, straight dash, anything else in your move? [00:40:47] Speaker C: No. [00:40:48] Speaker A: All right. Your horse still is charging along the streets here. Yeah, those screams are blood curdling behind you. Finally, belegae, you are pretty much in concert with the party here, but just, you know, a step or two behind. What are you doing? [00:41:09] Speaker D: Moving up. [00:41:14] Speaker A: Okay, you guys see all two dozen cavalry reach the choke point with your ground traps. And although it's probably only stolas that can maybe still see this, but perhaps you could hear there is a commotion, and you have caused quite a bit of chaos. [00:41:36] Speaker C: I'd be able to look back and see it with my eagle vision. [00:41:40] Speaker A: That's true. Kaitoa, you clear day. Marvel to actually note that your trap is having some effect. So the ball bearings, in conjunction with the caltrops, are creating a bit of a mess. However, you know, the sheer numbers are beginning to overwhelm the space and the area of the traps. And now, party, you would quickly glance and see the foot soldiers as well. They are still rushing. But now you, party, have left the courtyard completely. And in one more dash, you will be out and away from the range of the keep entirely. But nothing before longbow shots arcing high into the night sky clatter about the party, and you have not been hit. Tiffany, rook, you are up. Straight dash. Anything else? [00:42:40] Speaker B: Straight dash. Okay, check it in before I do. I guess I'm checking with Stolas or Steve to make sure that that's bill. Of course. Green light, Steve boy. [00:42:52] Speaker D: Follow the owl. [00:42:58] Speaker A: All right. And then Steve, Kaitoa, and Bellag in conjunction here. Now, you guys really are all seeing the same scene despite being separated, you know, only by about 60ft at the maximum. You know, Kaitoa seems to be along with Rook and Steve, just a little bit ahead of you, Beleg. But nonetheless, all of you have now left the view of the keep. So now, you know, the initiative itself will sort of seem artificial. You guys will essentially be moving along this map and Stolas will allow you to see the movements of your pursuers. Stolas is alerting you immediately, Steve, to the fact that there is not long before you are in clear visual range of the first towers of the walls of the city of Iz. [00:43:53] Speaker E: Should we hug the. Close to the. Close to the buildings as possible? Like between us and the towers so they wouldn't be able to see us? [00:44:02] Speaker C: Yeah, if we stay against the west side buildings, like hug them, like right where line is drawn, we'd actually be undercover until we cross the gap. [00:44:15] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:44:16] Speaker C: And then by then it's like we're already gone. That's the alternate path. But the only thing I'm worried about is that we did just cross that open path with Knowles to the south, and so some of them might have just tried to book it west. [00:44:30] Speaker E: Yeah. Yeah. [00:44:31] Speaker C: To flank us. [00:44:33] Speaker E: That was what I was thinking too. [00:44:35] Speaker C: I mean, actually, that's a thing is right where the blue and the red line meet, there's. There probably is gonna be a null patrol that just like booked it west and that's where we'll meet them. So we. I think right there we gotta be a heads up to fight. [00:44:51] Speaker D: So those gates are gonna be closed, likely because it's nighttime and they probably close the gates. [00:44:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:44:58] Speaker D: So if we ride up to the gates, we get there and then we're kind of stuck up against a closed gate. Do we want to maybe ditch the horses at some point? [00:45:12] Speaker C: I was thinking that too, of like, what if we use the horses as a diversion and we just let the horses ride and we all jump off. [00:45:21] Speaker E: Slap them on the asses and send them in different directions. [00:45:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:25] Speaker E: Number them one to five and skip three. So they're always looking for horse number three and they never find us. [00:45:32] Speaker C: Well, that would like. Or we just keep them as a group and we ride them in the opposite direction we're going. [00:45:38] Speaker B: See if we can find some hay bales. [00:45:42] Speaker D: Let's make some kaitoa. [00:45:44] Speaker C: Knit. [00:45:44] Speaker D: Knit us some fucking doppelgangers, no doubt. [00:45:50] Speaker C: Or I just detonate this crispic block bomb and call it a day. [00:45:55] Speaker D: Wipe out half of the city. [00:45:57] Speaker C: Yeah. Be like, sorry, crispic, I loved you, but you're not coming back. [00:46:03] Speaker D: You would have wanted them being a realist here. [00:46:07] Speaker C: You would have wanted this to happen. [00:46:08] Speaker B: The greater good you're gonna sacrifice yourself twice for. [00:46:14] Speaker D: I mean, don't doubt that we can't make you a robot badger with whatever's left of Chris Blake. [00:46:22] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. But I'm just thinking with this, like, cryogenic thing, it's like if we just actually, like, light a fuse, ride the horse right back into town, and we. [00:46:32] Speaker D: All right in the center of the. [00:46:35] Speaker C: Keith, we just, like, put a ball. Put a fuse on the back of Chris Blake, slap this horse's ass, ride it right into town, and it just detonates and we just level this. [00:46:47] Speaker D: I think she could have. Might have wanted to go that way. [00:46:51] Speaker C: I think Chris Blake's blind rage would have loved it. [00:46:56] Speaker B: It just. [00:46:57] Speaker D: It's unfortunate. It closes a chapter in our story where we go and make robo chrisplic. [00:47:04] Speaker C: We could pursue the black arrow and just skip that. [00:47:09] Speaker D: Like, cryo freezer bomb in that. In that keep as we. As we leave is pretty fucking awesome. [00:47:16] Speaker C: It would be pretty epic. I don't think Robin would have seen it coming. [00:47:21] Speaker E: We would definitely lose all hope of getting answers in is if it explodes. [00:47:29] Speaker C: That's true. [00:47:31] Speaker E: Depending on the explosion. I think Rob's got a d four. Like, it could be just like, a. [00:47:37] Speaker C: Oh, it could fizzle. Yeah, it's one of those that you like. [00:47:43] Speaker D: Or we fucking Tetsuo bomb this motherfucker. [00:47:47] Speaker C: I'm guessing that's gonna happen. [00:47:49] Speaker D: That'd be awesome. Yeah. [00:47:52] Speaker A: Okay, I'm just sitting back down, guys. So you guys got nice pair of or two pairs of horses? Two brown horses with what? Blue saddles and two slightly different horses with, like, cream colored saddles. Oh, you make a nice foursome. What a nice stroll through the streets of is. [00:48:14] Speaker C: Robin, I can't wait for you to listen to that pea brake chatter. [00:48:19] Speaker A: It's great. It's always. It's always the best. Great. And that, friends and adventurers, is where we'll have to leave you tonight. Until the next time on dungeons and blaggards.
