Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am the dungeon Master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Eric!
[00:00:16] Speaker B: I'm Eric and I'm playing Dr. Zozo Brightfeather. She is a level nine Aarakocra artificer potionsmith.
Brandon!
[00:00:25] Speaker B: I'm Ekurook Punschley. Level nine blood hunter, half orc.
Caleb!
[00:00:32] Speaker B: I'm a level nine warforged barbarian: Kaitoa Tata.
Braeden!
[00:00:40] Speaker C: Hey, I'm Braeden. I'm playing half elf, Beleg Dygar, Level 9 hexblade warlock.
Tomo!
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Hey, I'm playing Steve Tehuman. I am a Gloomstalker Ranger level five, Battle Master Fighter, level three. And I have just a little schmeck of rogue. And I have an Owl.
Vale!
[00:01:06] Speaker B: I am playing Johawk the Gnoll, a champion fighter 4, Bear totem barbarian five.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blaggards. The party defeats the five gargoyles who have been summoned from Kozzem - the wizards guild - via a transportation circle. Then, a tentative alliance with this gnoll, who seems to be in some way intertwined with the party's story. While the half orc and the boy from Moy manage to negotiate themselves right into a position where they could be sending barrels perhaps in this transportation circle. It is five days until this tariff town seems to anticipate that happening. And now you have sent off, luckily without incident, you have sent off back to the mainland, Huck, the brewer of Huckleberry ale, in the rowboatgene. Right now there are lots and lots of fishermen coming back to the dock. They seem to have a catch. And they see you, Steve, Johawk and Beleg sort of bidding farewell to this brewer and Zozo, in this moment, you finally regain some consciousness as Kaitoa hits the ground and Rook, you are snoring away. You will remember that you had a beer nap.
[00:02:52] Speaker C: Yeah, long rest.
[00:02:55] Speaker A: If only. If only.
There is a knocking on the door, Rook, and you have barely caught one wink.
[00:03:06] Speaker C: I'm gonna ignore it
[00:03:08] Speaker A: Okay, Dr. Zozo, as you knock on the door to this brewery here, you know, Kaitoa has just sort of shut down his net making activity and his basket weaving has just all of a sudden stopped. And you all of a sudden are now looking at the note on this door. I mean, it can only be your party. It says the winking gun.
[00:03:33] Speaker B: I knock again.
[00:03:36] Speaker C: I'm making my way. I'm gonna say I'm comin, I'm comin,
I'm going to go open the door, see it's Dr. Zozo and say, ah, nice of you to join us.
[00:03:47] Speaker B: How long was I asleep?
[00:03:49] Speaker C: You were out for a little bit. You got a little catching up to do. But come on in.
[00:03:53] Speaker B: You guys have opened a new. A new bar?
[00:03:58] Speaker C: It's usually the first thing we look to do.
I've got fresh beer. Come on in.
[00:04:06] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, I could use a drink.
[00:04:10] Speaker A: You see a very small brewer's hut there. There are precious few rooms in here. There's just a front room. There's the brewing room with equipment, and then there's this little area where Rook has kind of just, I guess, had a nap.
[00:04:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I think Zozo grabs a glass of beer and takes a seat and kind of tries to shake off the cobwebs.
[00:04:36] Speaker A: Zozo, can you roll for deliciousness on that beer and party down at the docks? You now see about five longboats coming in alongside the dock, and they've caught a little bit of fish and they are coming alongside now. What are you guys doing down there?
[00:05:00] Speaker G: I'm finding who has the tomahawk.
[00:05:03] Speaker F: Oh, I have no idea what you're talking about.
[00:05:07] Speaker A: You can either roll history or perception or insight.
[00:05:12] Speaker G: Joe.
[00:05:12] Speaker A: And how delicious is that beer?
[00:05:14] Speaker B: Zozo rolled a nine.
[00:05:17] Speaker A: Yeah, it could use some work.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay.
[00:05:21] Speaker G: I rolled the first natural 20 of the night for 24 perception.
[00:05:27] Speaker E: Wow.
[00:05:28] Speaker A: Oh, boy. Okay. Well, Joe Hawk, if you can finish this sentence correctly, I'll confirm whether it's right or not.
You presented the tomahawk after you transported in. As far as I understand, you intentionally dropped it and while you were engaged with Beleg, this person picked it up.
[00:05:50] Speaker G: Steve.
[00:05:52] Speaker A: That's not incorrect.
[00:05:54] Speaker E: That was a very Trebek like question, half expecting Vale to be, what is Steve? Who is Steve?
[00:06:04] Speaker A: Who's Steve?
[00:06:05] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:06:05] Speaker A: And your gaze falls.
The poncho boy.
[00:06:09] Speaker G: I'm gonna walk up to him.
Seven foot five, so I'm kind of physically imposing.
[00:06:15] Speaker F: I'm going to say, as he walks up, Steve makes space.
[00:06:20] Speaker G: I'm not trying to be intimidating. It's just probably a passive. It's like a quirk of mine, I guess.
[00:06:27] Speaker A: You know what? Definitely roll perception. All of the fishermen are now disembarking. And whether or not you've meant to intimidate Steve at all. And Steve, you said you just kind of stand past.
[00:06:38] Speaker F: Well, he has to find me first.
[00:06:40] Speaker A: Oh, have you rolled stealth?
[00:06:44] Speaker F: Yeah.
Steve does not want.
[00:06:48] Speaker G: Do you want me to not use this die? Because it just gave me another natural 20.
[00:06:52] Speaker A: Steve, what are. What are you attempting to do right now?
[00:06:57] Speaker F: I do not want to be found.
[00:06:59] Speaker A: Okay, yeah. Roll his stealth. And then beleg. What would you say you're doing as the fishermen disembark at the bottom of this huge staircase carved into the cliff?
[00:07:10] Speaker E: I'm likely watching how this plays out.
[00:07:14] Speaker G: So I rolled a second natural 20 perception. And I'm locking that die in my case, so that way I can save my good luck.
[00:07:24] Speaker A: Steve, what did you get there, bud?
[00:07:26] Speaker F: Well, I got a 17 plus 11, but if he's rolled it to a nat 20, then that's a nat 20.
[00:07:35] Speaker A: Where were you trying to melt away to as you're prone to do, Steve? As Noel? Not only do you remember it was Steve, but you're aware he's in your visual range. Where were you trying to melt to, Steve?
[00:07:48] Speaker F: Well, so in sort of line with the montage or the mawn-tage, so to speak, Steve has taken off to be by himself as he's learning all these special trick shots.
And he's probably built a little.
A little effigy.
He likes to train by himself, such as the case is the danger room that he's created at the. Not the white chain.
So, yeah, he's definitely left the area.
[00:08:22] Speaker A: Nice. And, guys, you can all start to hear in your ears the drumming on the hi hat. It is the beginning of the montage.
And, Johawk, what new skill would you say you are leveraging now as you try and determine here what's happened to your artifact?
[00:08:42] Speaker G: If I can't find Steve, I'm gonna try to intimidate the townsfolk into telling.
[00:08:48] Speaker B: Me where he went.
[00:08:49] Speaker A: Okay. In this moment, Steve, you know, you've actually managed to just escape, probably away from all of these fishermen. And they are clueless, Joe Hawk, and they are extremely frightened of you. A couple of them jump back into their boats.
[00:09:07] Speaker G: I'm not going to eat you yet.
Tell me where he went.
[00:09:13] Speaker A: Well, they are now gesticulating upwards up the zigzag path there. And it looks like there's also a winch.
Belligon, Joe Hawk and Steve, you would now see as well. And some of the fishermen are beginning to winch their boat up. And it seems to take a huge amount of effort to do here just to attach the boats. But of course, nobody is at the top to pull the winch yet.
Okay, well, the fishermen, they've sort of died down in their shock and awe a little bit there, Joe Hawk. And then. Yeah, guys, what are you doing.
[00:09:53] Speaker C: Tile? Dr. Zozo. I'm going for a Long rest, head back to where the brewer's hut and pull up a nice little sheet and go for a snoozy snooze. I've been angling for a long time.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: Okay, Dr. Zozo, as Brook says, that party you sort of appear in view at the top of the cliff, you know, upward that winch is. And Steve, you've probably just managed to sort of always stay out of view of Knoll and Beleg. Unless beleg there was anything else you were going to do down there with the mimic that is slung under the.
[00:10:31] Speaker E: Dock, not with all the people that are around.
[00:10:34] Speaker A: So it's safe there. Okay. And as you pass Mama Mama Telfate's yurt, it seems like she has also retired for a mid afternoon nap here in the northern spring sun.
[00:10:51] Speaker G: She's out in the open.
[00:10:52] Speaker A: Her little yurt roll down door is now closed. And what did she have out before her little universal sign for fortune telling is no longer there.
[00:11:03] Speaker G: I'm gonna look around to see if anyone's watching.
[00:11:07] Speaker A: Okay, Johawk, as you sort of stalk around just as the oh, I'm watching party goes belling is also looking around. There's a bit of yakety sax music playing now I feel like and party. If you all choose to take a long rest and it is staggered, here's what's gonna happen. It'll be a. It was approximately 2pm When Rook first started snoring and going to sleep. He said bye to the brewer. It's about 2:30pm if you guys take a couple of staggered rests. So somebody's always up.
You guys are waking up early, early in the morning at like 2am yeah, that sounds good.
[00:11:49] Speaker G: Okay, I'll go into the brewers and see if they have a room for me.
[00:11:54] Speaker A: Folks, the brewery is very small. Where do you make your home? Folks, there are only three areas. There's all the equipment, the brewery stuff. There's a small sort of little side alley where there's a couple cots and then there's the front room and like that's it. And Zozo and Rook seem to be already having some pints.
[00:12:15] Speaker B: When the gnoll walks in, Zozo's eyes just go wide and she goes over and starts shaking.
[00:12:21] Speaker A: Rook, Rook, you have been drowsed kicking the vet.
[00:12:28] Speaker E: There's a gnoll in here.
[00:12:30] Speaker F: I'm gonna -gnolly gnolly- half.
[00:12:35] Speaker C: Sleepily look over and go, yeah, that's Johawk.
I don't know about. I don't know about him. Yet. But he's been tagging along for a little bit. You were snoozing.
I'm gonna put my head back down.
[00:12:48] Speaker B: Is he gonna eat me?
[00:12:50] Speaker G: Maybe?
[00:12:51] Speaker C: No, he's not.
Johawk. Settle down.
[00:12:57] Speaker H: Rook.
[00:12:58] Speaker A: Can you roll?
That sounded like persuasion. And there is a always rookie somebody preventing you from having Z's. Oh, you want that nap?
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:11] Speaker C: Why can't you just let me sleep?
That's an 18, Johawk.
[00:13:16] Speaker A: As you see, the hulking half orc vouch for you. In the same moment as giving you a little bit of an iffy appraisal. You at least have not been engaged.
[00:13:29] Speaker G: Fine.
[00:13:29] Speaker A: I won't eat you.
Oh boy. I won't use you either.
Johawk. Can you make a constitution saving throw?
[00:13:38] Speaker G: Total of.
I forgot to add my proficiency to this. So 12.
[00:13:45] Speaker A: Yeah. You have no problem resisting the urge? I mean, this is a large feathered creature. And in fact, you know a lot of the. You know, Izzian merchants and alchemists guilds, you know, the passed through Izzy and Match and such. There were a lot of Aarakocras. So this is not a foreign creature to you? Not for eating.
[00:14:05] Speaker G: Do you have somewhere that I can rest?
[00:14:09] Speaker B: I just got here. I just woke up.
It doesn't look like a very big hut, but pick up a green stack. There's some floor there.
[00:14:19] Speaker G: I'm going to. I believe the Explorer's pack gives me a bedroll, right?
[00:14:24] Speaker A: Correct. All the provisions that are assumed in your Explorer's pack.
[00:14:30] Speaker G: I'm gonna unroll my Explorer's pack.
You promised not to eat me, so I'll just lay here.
[00:14:37] Speaker B: All right.
[00:14:41] Speaker F: Oh, hey. It's a gnu alright. I'm not gonna eat you. Well, I won't eat you either.
Well, okay.
[00:14:53] Speaker A: What are you guys doing? As you attempt to, you know, A get rid of your level of exhaustion. B. Regain spell slots, all this stuff. Do you intend to as I suggested? As I assume you careful guys are. Keep a watch on the circle, keep a watch on the town.
[00:15:08] Speaker F: I think Steve is outside of town, but yeah, at a good vantage point.
[00:15:14] Speaker A: We're gonna fast forward then all the way till approximately 2am in the morning. And this is where we will sort of demonstrate our montagery throughout some of the things you'll do here. But Steve, what would you be doing here? As we'll assume you get your level nine in. What have you done? As you sort of go outside of town, there are only three directions to go that aren't off the cliff.
You know, there's north, there's east and there's west.
[00:15:43] Speaker F: Well again, looking for a better vantage point, keeping height advantage on everything. That's kind of where Steve would end up, I imagine.
But he's, he's been a long time, more than he usually has ever really in town, in Pole, in civilization. I think he's really enjoying the fact that he's back out in, I guess would be like craggy rocks and just out in the wilderness really even the small little town is not really what he's into.
[00:16:16] Speaker A: There is a beautiful moonscape out tonight and it is very flat.
The tundra here around Maw and in fact a lot of Tonwin is like this. A lot of coniferous trees.
Fairly barren ground in some ways, but you know, you're seeing all kinds of tracks, Steve, as you venture out. How far would you say? Like half a mile? Mile.
[00:16:41] Speaker F: Close enough that if, if there was any sort of issue in town, he'd be able to keep track of it.
[00:16:48] Speaker A: Okay, is there any new skill or ability that you are gaining as you are out here? And I would guess I would ask everybody to think about, are your skills coming from within your character? Is it something that they have sort of brought with them in terms of knowledge that they are developing or is it something coming from without, you know, where the environment maw or being in this sort of arctic tundra is gonna somehow give you this skill? Sorry, go on, Steve.
[00:17:17] Speaker F: Well, I think he's, while he's doing this, he's definitely stretching his ability.
Thrown and range wise. So just, yeah, mocking combat, throwing trick shots, that kind of thing. And he's developing his prowess.
[00:17:38] Speaker A: You hear a deep voice as you sort of return back to the outskirts of Maw as now you do see the sun on the horizon. Very strange sunrise here, but you know, you'll catch your two winks. Then you hear a deep voice. Steve.
[00:17:56] Speaker H: Oh my.
[00:17:59] Speaker F: Oh, hey. Yeah, no, I mean he's definitely had Stolas. I, I imagine he's hanging out with Stolas in the, in the wilderness too. That, that would be.
[00:18:08] Speaker A: Look at the stars tonight, Steven.
[00:18:14] Speaker F: Yeah, you almost forget what they look like when you're in a city.
[00:18:19] Speaker A: To me, all time passes at the same time.
[00:18:24] Speaker F: Well, that's weird.
Oh well, everyone knows that that time can't exist all at once. That'd be crazy.
[00:18:33] Speaker E: Not for me.
[00:18:35] Speaker A: Time is, is it not the same for you?
[00:18:41] Speaker F: It's always gone one way for me.
[00:18:44] Speaker A: And time is a circle.
[00:18:48] Speaker F: I think you're breaking my ranger brain.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: And Stolas eyes are reflecting the arctic star patterns. And it is. It's a beautiful night, Steve. So as you guys come back, it is very early in the morning, but this town is a trading, trapping, furrier town. There's tons of. Of activity. Can everybody roll an Insight or perception?
[00:19:12] Speaker G: 18. Perception.
[00:19:14] Speaker B: 16 on insight.
[00:19:15] Speaker E: No, Eric.
[00:19:16] Speaker B: Yeah, 16, rook.
[00:19:19] Speaker C: 19 on perception.
[00:19:22] Speaker E: I'm rolling insight or perception.
I want to roll insight, obviously.
And that's after a long rest.
[00:19:30] Speaker A: You are level nine. You are all full and topped up.
[00:19:37] Speaker E: Still shitty raw. But that's 12 instead of 11.
[00:19:41] Speaker A: Okay.
Well, as always, you get the feeling that Steve has been about.
[00:19:49] Speaker F: I guess we're all in the same place again.
[00:19:52] Speaker A: You are at the beer shack and there is a knock at the door.
It is a very, very long handled broom coming into view.
And there is that man, the custodian.
[00:20:06] Speaker F: Hey, tall guy. What's going on?
[00:20:09] Speaker H: Go on.
[00:20:11] Speaker E: Shazam. That was his name, right?
[00:20:14] Speaker H: Winking. Gone where? I don't get it.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: It's kind of an inside joke.
[00:20:21] Speaker H: Well, you made yourself a little home here. Quick work of old Huck.
[00:20:27] Speaker C: We always do unexpected.
Were you able to find us barrels for transport?
[00:20:36] Speaker H: Keep your voice down.
[00:20:38] Speaker A: And he looks back at the marble circle. Rook, you know your brewer's shack is very close to the circle.
So he kind of stoops inside and.
[00:20:49] Speaker H: Says barrels a plenty here and outside, you know.
[00:20:56] Speaker A: And indeed there are. There's probably about a dozen barrels. Six of them are filled with this sort of mediocre. Well, as far as Zozo is concerned, mediocre Huckleberry Dark Ale. And six of them are empty. Steve, you also gauged the size, possibly problems with fitting the larger members of your party in these barrels. But then Kaitoa was also knitting like huge baskets.
[00:21:20] Speaker F: Oh yeah. Would Kaitoa be able to. That's hard to ask him now, but would he be able to take some of his ability to do all those menial tasks and make us like some barrels or something that would at least look like barrels?
[00:21:36] Speaker A: Guys, as this sort of day progresses, that is all Kaitoa is doing. Whenever you look over at Kaitoa and you wonder what he's doing, he is just fashioning the best baskets.
[00:21:48] Speaker B: Good work, Kaitoa.
[00:21:50] Speaker G: Can we not find a crate?
[00:21:52] Speaker H: Oh, lots of scrap wood around here. But we need to collect firewood. There's a need fire before we send off the offering to cosm. Lots of things to do. Gotta winch up the boats. Gotta collect firewood. Oh, and the trappers are coming in. Oh, and there's the collapsed tannery. Oh, Marshmak's not happy.
Somebody's gonna have to rebuild that work out.
[00:22:24] Speaker G: So we can't use any wood for a crate. Can we make a smaller fire to make this crate?
[00:22:32] Speaker H: Oh, you can do whatever you want. I'm going back to cleaning the circle. Gonna repair these little nicks and chips out of the pillar and also out of the little place where the furry face got his ankle caught.
[00:22:46] Speaker A: And Zam begins to walk away.
Joe, you know, as you and the party are discussing, I suppose, the methods of. Can you hop into something? Baskets and barrels. So, you know, big baskets have been described that might carry fish and meat and clothes and such. Barrels have been described for this thing that goes to cosm this once a week thing.
[00:23:15] Speaker G: Are you sure your basket is going to be big enough to fit me in it?
[00:23:21] Speaker A: As you look at the baskets, you would see that kaitoa is just a basket making machine. He's made these, like, coffin sized baskets that are large enough for the largest members of the party. And the barrels are probably like Beleg Zozo and Steve sized for sure.
[00:23:40] Speaker G: Okay.
[00:23:41] Speaker B: Seems like we've got a plan to release the start of one.
[00:23:45] Speaker C: Do we have a ship for these?
[00:23:47] Speaker B: I think they're gonna transport them in the circle.
[00:23:50] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:23:51] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:23:53] Speaker C: What time?
[00:23:54] Speaker B: I think it was.
I think they said five days yesterday, so it'd be probably four days now.
[00:24:00] Speaker C: Is there anything we want to do prior to. To make sure we've got things in order here or prepped?
[00:24:06] Speaker B: Yeah, we probably want to try and get any info we can of what to expect on the other side.
[00:24:14] Speaker E: Mama Tellfate knows a lot, it seems.
I can't remember who Grist was.
[00:24:20] Speaker B: Right.
[00:24:21] Speaker E: But she was talking a whole bunch about Grist.
[00:24:24] Speaker G: Yeah, she mentioned Mr. Grist, and I think we need to get more information on him.
[00:24:31] Speaker E: Yeah, right.
Skit like, handed a green stone and said, use or take this to fight the Grist.
[00:24:39] Speaker C: Do we want to see if we can find a safe shack using our pins from lieutenant Dan?
I mean, we got to be careful doing that, but.
[00:24:50] Speaker E: Yeah.
The closer we go to the wizards guild, the less I want to proclaim that we're members of the poison Scepter.
[00:24:57] Speaker C: But they're. They're around it. There's got to be somebody here who's kin to our cause.
[00:25:04] Speaker E: Probably, but it's a tough risk.
I don't like it.
[00:25:07] Speaker B: There's probably a lot of loyal Wizards guild people around, too.
[00:25:11] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:25:13] Speaker B: Seems like this town kind of, or at least the wizard Guild, depends on this town, so they probably depend on the wizards Guild as well.
[00:25:19] Speaker E: Yeah, exactly.
[00:25:21] Speaker C: I wonder if the old fortune teller there.
[00:25:27] Speaker E: Tellfate
Yeah, she's cool.
Johawk and I both went for a fortune.
You guys could too.
[00:25:37] Speaker G: She has an interesting way with words.
[00:25:41] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. We can see if she's opened back up.
[00:25:44] Speaker E: What time is it right now, Rob?
[00:25:47] Speaker A: It is fairly early in the morning and as you guys open up the front door of the brew shack here, there are. There are lots of people staring at the collapsed, you know, open air tannery. There's Zam is maintaining the transportation circle. Tellfate's little curtain is not open yet.
[00:26:11] Speaker G: Rolled a constitution save and I think I made it with 8:20.
[00:26:15] Speaker A: Oh, that is. That is above halfling hunger danger zone. So as you look at the yurt, you salivate quite profusely and then turn away.
[00:26:27] Speaker B: Mm.
[00:26:28] Speaker G: I don't. I don't think I should go in there.
[00:26:31] Speaker E: Hey, you've had your fortune. You're good.
[00:26:33] Speaker G: Now ask her if I should trust you all.
[00:26:39] Speaker F: Probably not.
[00:26:41] Speaker E: Oh, Steve's back.
[00:26:43] Speaker F: Hey.
[00:26:45] Speaker B: Hey.
See anything cool out in the wilderness?
[00:26:49] Speaker F: I found some interesting gorps.
[00:26:51] Speaker E: New gorp flavors.
[00:26:53] Speaker F: Yeah, they got a berry that you can eat, but you can also wash your hands with. It's super weird.
[00:27:01] Speaker E: Oh man. Big things coming to Steve's Gorporation.
[00:27:08] Speaker G: Do you still have my hand axe?
[00:27:10] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:27:14] Speaker F: I don't know what you're talking about.
[00:27:17] Speaker A: We're gonna do this, I think every day until we get something. K. Can you guys each roll a with the skill of your choice?
Whether it's deception, whether it's insight, whether it's perception, whether it's stealth, whether it's you, Steve, just evaporating every time the gnoll asks this.
[00:27:37] Speaker F: Hey, what's that?
[00:27:38] Speaker E: Woo.
[00:27:39] Speaker A: Okay, so here we go. Day one. Day one, guys.
[00:27:42] Speaker G: Total of seven.
[00:27:43] Speaker F: Oh, I am definitely going to make use of Steve's.
This is not actually all that great. 13.
[00:27:53] Speaker A: Okay. On day one, Noel, you are sure that Steve is avoiding you.
And on day one here, as Telfait's little shop opens up and the little fish frying hut opens up. What are you guys doing? There are clearly, you know. Oh, oh boy. Here comes a furious looking person from that T shaped building there.
It can only be one person.
This is the owner of the tannery and where they skin the fish and dry the fish and prepare the fillets.
[00:28:34] Speaker G: Ooh, we're the ones that broke the tannery, right? Us and the gargoyles.
[00:28:39] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:28:41] Speaker G: I'm going to step in front.
Is he marching towards us?
[00:28:46] Speaker A: It is not fish maw. It looks like a Tabaxi. A very old Tabaxi woman.
[00:28:54] Speaker I: My building is destroyed.
[00:28:59] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't know anything about that.
[00:29:01] Speaker A: Okay, Rook, could you roll deception?
Rest of the party. What are you doing with this sort of minigame conundrum? Will you help Mawshemok repair the tannery? Rook? Deception 14.
Okay, Rook, you walk away from this Tabaxi, and I think you may be going to maybe improve on that beer. Can you roll? Can you figure out what role to maybe improve on this huckleberry beer?
Yeah. Okay, Zozo, what do you do? You sort of did not take part in this battle, but of course, the stories were regaled to you last night.
[00:29:40] Speaker B: I think. I say, oh, it's a real shame what those gargoyles did to your place.
[00:29:46] Speaker I: A shame. Who will fix my roof?
[00:29:50] Speaker B: I mean, I'm not much for. For roofing, but I can, you know, the Wizards Guild.
[00:29:57] Speaker H: Don't say their name.
[00:29:59] Speaker I: We all do our part here.
[00:30:02] Speaker A: And she taps a little tag on, you know, her lapel there. And yet there's a number. It's the same number of the number plate on the tannery. She puts her finger up in front of her kind of furry lips.
[00:30:20] Speaker C: I rolled a survival just based on my proficiencies for hunting and gathering and what ingredients I can put in this to be better. And I rolled a 19.
[00:30:33] Speaker A: Okay, guys, on day one, Rook is just consumed with beer artisanry. But there's an improvement. I think by the end of the day, there's a noticeable sort of improvement. You've realized the fault in his method. He was just crushing huckleberries and throwing them in.
[00:30:49] Speaker C: I saw Dr. Zozo's face and the displeasure that came across it when he drank the ale.
[00:30:55] Speaker B: I couldn't put the wing.
[00:30:56] Speaker C: I couldn't put the Winking Guns brew house brand on that.
[00:31:02] Speaker H: Yes.
[00:31:05] Speaker B: Tells the Tabaxi that, you know, if she wants to get a, you know, some builders together, that we'd be happy to provide refreshments to them.
[00:31:15] Speaker A: Oh, Zozo, will you roll something charming and charisma based equation?
[00:31:21] Speaker B: Oh, that was.
[00:31:22] Speaker A: And are you making them like Kool Aid or Vick's Vapo-rub Aid?
[00:31:27] Speaker B: I think we'll provide them with huckleberry ale.
[00:31:31] Speaker A: And guys, remember, this is sort of Quick Beats montage. Oh, sweet fishermen and sort of some of the hands who are looking idle hands that are looking for something to do here because obvious, normally they'd be preparing for. For a day's work. They are roused by the party and by this owl. Doctor who seems to produce. What are you producing for refreshments here, Zozo?
[00:31:55] Speaker B: I think I wheel out a barrel of the huckleberry ale. The old stuff, the not as good stuff.
[00:32:04] Speaker A: You got to drip some fortifying fumes in there.
[00:32:08] Speaker E: Yeah, Nice.
[00:32:10] Speaker B: I'll crush together a few ingredients to give them energy.
[00:32:13] Speaker E: Just some super carpenters going out there. Yeah.
[00:32:18] Speaker A: Okay. Noel and Beleg and Steve, you know, you see that there is activity and it seems like the owl has taken a sort of a leadership role here in mustering some help. They've cleared away all the timbers. There's a lot of broken beams. And then there are some woodwrights who seem to be erecting a new arch.
[00:32:39] Speaker E: Beleg in hopes to improve his proficiency with his weapons. I think Beleg wants to go hang out with the fishermen and kind of help gut the fish with his glaive. But very stylistically just throw fish up in the air and gut them and slice them.
[00:33:00] Speaker A: Okay. Well, as you take your glaive out this tabaxi, very old, almost sort of like a gray lion esque face. She says, I see you like to skin too.
[00:33:16] Speaker I: There's more than a hundred ways to skin a fish.
[00:33:22] Speaker E: Perfect.
[00:33:23] Speaker A: But Beleg, there is work to be done. None of the boats have been winched up. In fact, it seems to have been a bad catch in general.
And although there are some fishermen out again this morning, none of today's catch has been winched up. So this is like a strength contest right here, buddy.
[00:33:44] Speaker E: I can try and work the winch.
[00:33:46] Speaker A: As you step up. A couple of the fishermen stand aside.
[00:33:50] Speaker H: Oh, there's fish- Fishmaw. Do you have a license to operate me winch?!
[00:33:59] Speaker C: Yeah, and a fishing license.
[00:34:02] Speaker H: All part of the party of strangers. Alright, that's good to operate me winch.
[00:34:10] Speaker A: Can you roll a strength Beleg?
[00:34:14] Speaker E: Can I roll athletics instead?
[00:34:16] Speaker A: Sure, if you describe to me how you perform a strength based thing with athletics.
[00:34:22] Speaker E: Well, you know, basic athletics is knowing how to use your body weight.
[00:34:26] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:34:26] Speaker E: To leverage your abilities. So it's not just strength. I'm getting my hips into it using momentum.
[00:34:32] Speaker A: Oh, bench or sorry, leg press.
[00:34:34] Speaker C: Basically I imagine you as like duff man, just thrusting your hips as Duffman.
[00:34:43] Speaker E: Well, I got a 24, so
[00:34:48] Speaker A: I would say you go down on your back and a couple of the. The fishermen sort of gasp and a couple of them are laughing there.
[00:34:55] Speaker H: What are you doing? Eh, Lying down like a lady.
[00:34:59] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:35:00] Speaker A: And then you start working the winch handle with your legs. Much more powerful. And here it goes.
[00:35:09] Speaker H: Oh, look at the bolt coming up. Eh.
[00:35:13] Speaker F: Whoa.
[00:35:14] Speaker E: And you bring it up behind my head.
[00:35:16] Speaker H: Record time.
[00:35:17] Speaker E: Relaxation pose.
Hell yeah.
[00:35:21] Speaker A: Your hands are behind your head as the first boat is all the way up and it is actually a decent catch here. There's quite a plucky young fisherman, probably the youngest person you've seen in town and he is about 50 and he has a good catch of crab and fish. And you said you would like to slice these and practice your polearm mastery, melee, fighting, roll. A skill of your choice. I would say maybe roll on attack and we'll kind of use that as flavor. Attack the fish.
[00:36:00] Speaker E: Ah, that's 19 plus 8. 27.
[00:36:06] Speaker A: Bella, can you describe how I think you were kind of hinting at it before? You're filleting these things mid air.
[00:36:12] Speaker E: Yeah. Just throw them off and I flam as the little 50 year old man throws them at me.
I like there's a basket behind me too. So they're going in the basket.
[00:36:23] Speaker H: I'm Gustav.
[00:36:24] Speaker A: Eh.
[00:36:25] Speaker H: Here comes the fish. Eh.
Oh there's another one.
Hey.
Oh that one right down the center.
[00:36:36] Speaker E: I love this game.
[00:36:36] Speaker A: Hanging.
You know what has Gustav has? He's got the edge on the other fishermen today. He seems to be one of the ones that has one of Kaitoa's new nets.
[00:36:49] Speaker E: Oh nice.
[00:36:51] Speaker A: He's caught a lot of crabs actually. He's got so much crabs he doesn't even know what to do with the crabs. And some people are murmuring here and there about crab soup. But Bellic, you've made quite the impressive soup.
And now a couple of the other fishermen are trying to bring their boats up using the same technique with their legs and lying on their back.
[00:37:12] Speaker E: Belly's a trendsetter.
[00:37:14] Speaker H: Oh my back.
[00:37:17] Speaker F: They're wearing his floppy hipster hat too.
[00:37:21] Speaker E: I can only hope.
[00:37:24] Speaker A: Noel there. Noel you are now sort of in between a couple of the activities happening early on here. You do see a train of sleds coming in now over the horizon. Probably Steve and Noel. As you look at Zozo mustering the troops Rook there. You've just seen Beleg perform a nice little bit of mid air filleting. There do seem to be maybe some trappers coming in with fur.
[00:37:51] Speaker G: I'm going to offer to help the trappers get the fur off their catches.
[00:37:58] Speaker A: Okay.
I forgot to remind you a picture of fish maw. Sorry, I gotta show you my fish maw drawing.
He's only interested in three things guys.
[00:38:10] Speaker E: Fish ma on licenses.
[00:38:15] Speaker A: On the on the horizon there as a miraculous sort of mustering of the troops has taken place. It looks like the tannery is functional. And what I mean by that is they've cordoned off the area that needs to be repaired. And Mawshemok is pleased. Zozo, she comes up to you and.
[00:38:33] Speaker I: Says, furfect my feathered friend.
Just in time for furriers to come and trade.
[00:38:44] Speaker A: Thank you. And she gives you a small amulet, Zozo.
[00:38:50] Speaker B: Well, thank you very much. What is this amulet?
[00:38:53] Speaker I: Bone? The tooth of a very dangerous creature.
[00:38:59] Speaker H: The polar bugbear.
[00:39:04] Speaker I: It's the same fur you wear. You and your party.
You seem like trappers or hunters. Where did you kill the polar bugbear?
[00:39:18] Speaker G: We.
[00:39:19] Speaker B: We caught it at sea.
Was it nice?
[00:39:22] Speaker I: Was it a polar bear? Oh, polar bug bear.
[00:39:26] Speaker B: It was a polar bear.
[00:39:28] Speaker I: I'm not so sure. Well, thank you, feathered friend.
[00:39:33] Speaker A: Okay, you're gonna help Noel. It seems like there are three people on sleds coming in. And you know what? They are tall, they are a lot like Zam. And there looks to be a young woman leading the three of them. And you said you would like to help. These are heavy sleds, Noel, as you pull up. And they are made of bone.
[00:39:59] Speaker G: Well met.
[00:40:00] Speaker F: I say to the young lady, don't buy my fur.
[00:40:05] Speaker G: I need something to do. Could I help you produce the fur?
[00:40:10] Speaker A: I don't need help.
[00:40:12] Speaker C: This has a lot of sexual content to it.
[00:40:17] Speaker G: Yes, you do.
[00:40:19] Speaker E: I'm helping you.
[00:40:20] Speaker A: She steps off of her sled and can you roll?
Can you roll a charisma? I suppose.
17 traveler, you help me.
[00:40:37] Speaker G: If you don't want help, then I won't help.
[00:40:40] Speaker A: I'll take help.
[00:40:42] Speaker G: Yes, you will.
[00:40:43] Speaker A: Trapper Acme.
And she taps her chest. She is almost your height, Joe Hawk. And you get the impression. Can you roll an insight, please? And actually party at large. Can you roll an insight on these kind of trappers who've come in 11.
[00:41:02] Speaker F: Okay, we'll do an insight.
[00:41:04] Speaker A: Yeah, insight.
[00:41:06] Speaker C: Give me one second. Pour myself another drink here.
[00:41:09] Speaker E: That's 14 for Bella.
[00:41:12] Speaker F: That's a 10 for Steve.
[00:41:14] Speaker A: Well, Bella, your highest. Okay, so guys, as Beleg and Rook, as you all congregate inside the at least newly cleared out tannery fish skinning market here. Yeah. There has been an arrival. It is now about 6am in the morning. So you guys have spent several hours in the wee hours of the morning. But it is north here. It is spring. And now a beautiful sunrise has accompanied this train of three sleds. And they appear to have all kinds of pelts here. And they appear to Be at least two of them appear to be Goliath.
And in particular she who leads them. You're not sure. She doesn't seem to have some of the facial markings you might expect. And you, you maybe suspect a part Goliath.
[00:42:06] Speaker E: Ooh, a half.
[00:42:07] Speaker A: Er, okay. And then furthermore, on the furs, you notice there's a wide variety of furs, and there are indeed some that look like your furs from some sort of northern creature. And you are passing these things off to Mawshemok. And Mawshemok seems to have a sort of a small coterie of assistants. And they all begin to appraise the furs. And there is an exchanging of quite a lot of silver and gold.
These are clearly expensive wares.
[00:42:41] Speaker I: Nice shoes and slippers for wizards and their pupils.
[00:42:48] Speaker E: I want some of these shoes.
[00:42:50] Speaker A: These are from a catalog?
Yes.
[00:42:54] Speaker G: Let me help you.
[00:42:56] Speaker E: Hey.
Rob Bell makes a mental note of anything that they any of the clothing that they make, just in case he has to imitate wizard students or anything when they're at the Wizards Guild.
[00:43:09] Speaker A: Okay. It is nearing the sort of the end of this sort of scene where Beleg, you make a note of what's happening here. Johawk, you are quite admired by the Goliath.
They remain very silent, except for Acme. And she again taps her chest and says, trapper Akme, Traveler, thank you.
[00:43:32] Speaker G: My name is Joe Hawk.
[00:43:34] Speaker A: Traveler, Joe Hawk, thank you. And they begin.
Turn around.
[00:43:40] Speaker C: Catalog.
[00:43:41] Speaker A: Oh, yes. And you are looking for again. So do you mean the catalog of what they are selling?
[00:43:47] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:43:48] Speaker A: Okay. As you see them depart, is Mawshemok you'll be dealing with. I mean, it looks like Mawshemok has bought everything. This is a requested shipment. And she looks at you, Rook, and.
[00:44:00] Speaker H: Says, fur for half orc.
[00:44:04] Speaker I: You are well adorned already. A cape of a polar bear. I have here northern beefalo.
[00:44:15] Speaker A: And there is a dark sort of red brown skin and a beefalo that's like a half a bison, half a cow.
And there.
[00:44:26] Speaker E: That sounds delicious.
[00:44:28] Speaker I: Oh, we have a small beefalo enclosure here near the brewery.
And then there are fox.
[00:44:38] Speaker A: And she points to the fox pelts.
[00:44:40] Speaker I: There also are some very strange creature here.
[00:44:46] Speaker A: And she points to sort of like a spotted black and white pelt. And she looks and says, cougar.
[00:44:56] Speaker G: And these are for the wizard guild clothing, right?
[00:45:00] Speaker I: Praise the Wizards Guild.
[00:45:02] Speaker A: And she nods towards the marble teleportation circle.
[00:45:09] Speaker E: Seeing all these pelts, I'm surprised nobody's eyeing you up, Johawk.
[00:45:13] Speaker G: I'm not afraid of them.
Let me help you tan them.
[00:45:19] Speaker A: Oh, nice. Can you roll a skill on tanning? And guys, as the day progresses on there's indeed there is a need fire occurring tonight. This is sort of a ceremony at the beginning of Sarch, the third month of the year. And in many cultures there is a ceremonial sort of fire here as we attempt to welcome in a new season of life.
[00:45:43] Speaker E: Does that mean Beefalo burgers and beers tonight?
[00:45:47] Speaker A: Oh, do you want to slay a Beefalo? There is a Beefalo enclosure.
[00:45:52] Speaker E: There's also e float burgers.
[00:45:55] Speaker C: There also sounded to be like cougars for you to slay.
[00:46:01] Speaker E: My heart's still broken from Leah.
[00:46:05] Speaker G: So if. If I'm trying to help them that I'm guessing it would be dexterity to tan them.
[00:46:12] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:46:13] Speaker G: 12. But I'm intentionally botching them.
[00:46:16] Speaker A: You're not doing a great job. And you are taken off of the quality control line.
[00:46:20] Speaker G: You.
[00:46:21] Speaker I: You are only suited for separating the freshy bits.
[00:46:25] Speaker A: And she gives you the poorly like you know how in the field you might like dress it a little bit sloppy. You're only given the sloppiest work, but you are thanked.
[00:46:35] Speaker I: Where are you from, furry traveler?
[00:46:41] Speaker G: I'm from the plains.
[00:46:43] Speaker I: Now is the Barren Lands.
[00:46:49] Speaker A: And Steve and Beleg and Rook and Owl Doctor. You know now it is nearing the sort of the end of the day. Owl Doctor. You've been certainly praised for your work. And as the Need Fire occurs tonight, there is much rejoicing about these strange travelers. Although at every mention of the Wizards Guild there is a nod and a hushing. And you have learned that unless you're indoors, there is a reluctance to gain too much information.
At the Need Fire tonight. You do see sort of all the characters here. And here does come that person from the tent, Tellfate, and she's stumbling a little bit. She's blind.
[00:47:38] Speaker C: Can I just make sure where.
[00:47:40] Speaker A: Where's Kaitoa all the time here. Kaitoa? You're sure? He has obviously reached level nine because he is just furiously now making these baskets into sort of impenetrably thick walled baskets.
[00:47:57] Speaker E: He seems never did hear from Caleb, by the way.
[00:48:00] Speaker A: That's too bad. But these baskets are impressive. So he seems to be standing guard over your guys brewshack
[00:48:08] Speaker G: I'm going to be looking for Beleg at the end of the day.
[00:48:11] Speaker A: Okay. Can you roll a perception?
[00:48:15] Speaker G: My dice loved me. That's a 19 plus 4. 23.
[00:48:20] Speaker A: Oh, you see Beleg? There he is over on the far side of the fire. And there's quite a large bonfire here occurring just between the fishing the Fisherman's area and Mawshemok's tannery.
[00:48:38] Speaker G: You.
Can we talk inside?
[00:48:41] Speaker E: We can talk here.
[00:48:43] Speaker G: I want to know what your affiliation to the Wizards Guild is.
[00:48:47] Speaker E: From the sounds of it, big guy, I like them just as much as you do.
[00:48:50] Speaker G: What did they do to you?
[00:48:52] Speaker E: They took a bit of a friend and mentor.
What do they do to you?
[00:48:57] Speaker G: Not me specifically, but my tribe. 100 years ago.
[00:49:02] Speaker E: We got a common enemy, man.
[00:49:04] Speaker G: We do.
[00:49:05] Speaker E: You ready to kill people up there?
[00:49:08] Speaker G: I'm always ready to kill Belle.
[00:49:11] Speaker E: Naturally, having a pint at a bonfire reaches out to cheers Johawk.
[00:49:15] Speaker G: I'm not partaking, but I lift my hand up as if I was.
[00:49:20] Speaker A: And the need fire now subsides. Most of the people have gone back. There's been some carousing. There's been some song.
And yes, the first night sort of ends here, guys. There is the moon again rising. And here again is another morning dawning much the same.
Oh, sorry.
[00:49:47] Speaker G: I had one more thing I wanted to tell Beleg.
[00:49:49] Speaker H: Go for it, bud.
[00:49:51] Speaker G: I'm gonna punch him in the side.
[00:49:56] Speaker A: That's a 1d4.
That'll be four.
[00:50:03] Speaker H: Oh, sh.
[00:50:04] Speaker A: Like you take four damage.
[00:50:07] Speaker G: Next time when I tell you to kill me with my brother's axe, you do it.
[00:50:12] Speaker E: Deal.
[00:50:18] Speaker A: Day two dawns and sort of much the same thing. Steve, can you roll stealth or deception? Noel, can you roll to.
If Steve has your tomahawk? Rook, can you roll on how good that beer is getting? Zozo, there's lots going on about town. Not only has a second morning of workers have arrived, but they're addicted to whatever you made them roll.
[00:50:42] Speaker G: The nine perception.
[00:50:44] Speaker A: Steve. Acrobatics.
[00:50:45] Speaker F: Acrobatics of 15.
[00:50:47] Speaker G: Steve.
[00:50:48] Speaker F: To sell like tumbles out of the way. Sorry, can't talk.
[00:50:52] Speaker A: Steve. You cartwheel out of the way again and you are just. You are making yourself scarce during these days in maw and. Yeah, Rook, Sorry. Would you roll on beer proficiency?
[00:51:03] Speaker C: Well, I think I'd be investigating the quality of it and flavors and I rolled a 16.
[00:51:11] Speaker A: Sounds good.
There is a knock at the door as you're kind of again going into your experimentation. It's fishermen. They want help raising the boats and they got their caps in their hand and they're kind of beckoning that way. Beleg. Same thing. You are being asked for your filleting prowess. Here it is. Very early in the morning indeed. And then. Steve. Yeah? You cartwheel out of the way.
Zozo. There's a crowd around you.
[00:51:41] Speaker E: I think.
[00:51:41] Speaker B: I think Zozo, the. The night before made some friends with some fishermen and went out early with them. I think she needs to kind of restock her alchemical supplies and is interested in the local sea life and some finding some new kind of some new ingredients.
[00:52:01] Speaker H: Well, Owl, come out fishing with us, eh? Give us a little bit of that.
[00:52:06] Speaker A: Brew and as usual, sort of give them a couple of your brews here in the morning. Yeah, you go out fishing and it is very early. They gotta paddle against the waves in the mouth of the maw here. But can you roll a skill on what kind of botany, what kind of stuff, what kind of ingredients might you find?
[00:52:26] Speaker B: I rolled an 18 on nature.
[00:52:28] Speaker A: Mmm. This is a very sort of unforgiving cliff bay here. But beneath the water and beneath the docks are all sorts of weird like algae and crustaceans. Like there's a veritable biome here of strange gooey arctic things. There's a couple of purple starfish and there are also tons of sort of matted kelp. There are birds that circle over. It seems to be sort of an arctic ternation. Like there's a black and white small bird that kind of whirls around on the cliffs. And then again there are the crabs that the fishermen catch. And there are two types of fish. There's the North Sea tuna and the North Sea marlin.
[00:53:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I think she kind of collects a little bit of everything and kind of stows it away to experiment with later. I think a lot of these have never really been used by an alchemist before.
[00:53:26] Speaker E: So.
[00:53:28] Speaker B: In uncharted territory.
[00:53:30] Speaker H: Is that right, Owl?
[00:53:31] Speaker A: Doctor?
[00:53:32] Speaker H: Well, I'm hoping somebody will help take my boat up the winchy winch there. I put my back out yesterday and.
[00:53:39] Speaker A: It's the same young fellow, the 50 year old man who is looking at you.
[00:53:46] Speaker H: Oh, you collect that stuff? What for, as tariff to the wizards? Are they asking for spell components again?
Strange lists.
[00:53:57] Speaker E: Really?
[00:53:58] Speaker B: What kind of, what kind of lists?
[00:54:01] Speaker H: Oh, everything up and down that we might provide here in maw Tusk of the North Sea Narwhale. Oh, glands of this and that. You know what wizards love too? Guano. Oh, love the bat poop.
You know what that's for?
You know what that's for, right?
[00:54:22] Speaker C: No.
[00:54:22] Speaker B: What's that for?
[00:54:23] Speaker A: Fireballs.
[00:54:25] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, I can see that.
[00:54:27] Speaker H: Well, I know a thing or two.
[00:54:29] Speaker B: Yeah, kind of thing wizards might use.
Alchemists have some better...
[00:54:35] Speaker F: You're getting fisherman-splained.
[00:54:43] Speaker A: And you get the sense as well, Zozo, that these fishermen, although they're salty, there is something strange about this town.
And can you roll an intelligence, Dr. Zozo?
[00:54:57] Speaker B: That is 16 plus 4 is 20.
[00:55:03] Speaker A: Okay, well, you look at his hands, this fisherman Gustav there. Yeah, his hands are all mangled.
I mean, they're old. They're very old injuries. But you notice his knuckles are all offset, and it looks like his fingers in some places have just been wrecked. And that's his trouble, of course, with working the witch.
[00:55:26] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:55:28] Speaker A: And Beleg. You see, Zozo has gone out fishing and. Sorry, Zozo. Anything else?
I think.
[00:55:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Zozo flies up the cliff this time and supposed to get help for the winch.
[00:55:38] Speaker A: Oh, epic. There are gasps, and there's fishmaw shouting.
[00:55:43] Speaker H: Do you have a license to fly?!
[00:55:49] Speaker B: I ignore Fishmaw
[00:55:51] Speaker A: He's shaking his fist, but you don't take care. And then Beleg. And. And Rook, you do see the fishermen have congregated again beside the winch, and they're indicating. Indicating a complete lack of initiative.
[00:56:05] Speaker E: Oh. Beleg hops over.
[00:56:07] Speaker A: Roll it up.
[00:56:07] Speaker E: It's like his morning exercise.
[00:56:09] Speaker A: And Rook, as you stand there with your morning pint, are you gonna try this thing?
[00:56:14] Speaker C: No.
[00:56:14] Speaker E: Let Beleg do it.
[00:56:17] Speaker C: Not interested.
[00:56:18] Speaker E: That's 21 over 20.
Yep.
[00:56:23] Speaker H: Oh, nice.
[00:56:24] Speaker A: And again, you take these boats up like it's no problem, and Gustav has caught so many crabs that they are just like. They spill out of the boat. And some of them are spilling right off the edge of the cliff. These tiny little crabs.
[00:56:41] Speaker E: No.
Baleg grabs one and puts it to sleep by tickling his belly.
[00:56:45] Speaker A: Okay. You grab a little crab, and it's sort of a gray white crab. And one of the fishermen looks at you and says, hey, we should play shuffle crab.
[00:57:02] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:57:03] Speaker H: Oh, yeah. Two crabs. Whichever flips one over first wins. It's betting game, eh?
[00:57:10] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:57:11] Speaker H: Y'see when we were allowed to even practice minor magic here in Maw, you're supposed to color one of them. Use a little color, use a little prestidigitation on them.
[00:57:23] Speaker A: And.
[00:57:24] Speaker H: Ooh, better keep my voice down. And you make one black and one red or white or another color.
[00:57:30] Speaker E: And you better runs over and steals the artist's adze from Kaitoa.
[00:57:35] Speaker A: Oh, nice.
[00:57:37] Speaker H: Oh, we gonna play a game. You need two crabs, eh?
[00:57:40] Speaker E: Well, Bella grabs a second one, and then he paints one black and one white.
[00:57:45] Speaker A: There's like, an astonished shock from the fishermen, and they immediately make a circle. It seems like they've been, like, dying to play a game. And they all start muttering, shuffle crab.
[00:57:58] Speaker H: Shuffle crab, shuffle crab.
[00:57:59] Speaker A: And there's immediately the passing of coppers and the passing of notes. And, guys, although there is lots of work to be done here, it looks like the, you know, the tannery and the fish market is empty. Everybody's kind of run over. It's a small town. Like, there's only about 50 people here. They've run over to what? Beleg has created a game of shuffle crab.
[00:58:26] Speaker E: All right, who goes first?
[00:58:29] Speaker H: Well, I'll bet on that one there.
[00:58:33] Speaker E: I got the black one, you got the white one.
[00:58:36] Speaker H: Alrighty.
[00:58:39] Speaker A: And there's cheering and there's people shouting.
[00:58:42] Speaker H: Both black crab and white crab ain't going in a white crab.
[00:58:47] Speaker A: And then a bunch of people also.
[00:58:49] Speaker H: Shouting, destroy him, little black crab. Flip him.
[00:58:53] Speaker A: And again, the game is to bet on the crab that's gonna win a fight.
[00:58:59] Speaker B: I put money on Beleg's crab.
[00:59:01] Speaker H: Okay.
[00:59:01] Speaker A: Two on black.
[00:59:03] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:59:04] Speaker A: Are you betting for yours, Beleg? I should ask. Are you gonna make him lose?
[00:59:07] Speaker E: No, I'm not.
[00:59:08] Speaker B: I don't want.
[00:59:08] Speaker E: I don't want him to take a dive.
[00:59:10] Speaker A: Okay, so you're betting on yours.
[00:59:11] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:59:11] Speaker A: Betting on black.
[00:59:12] Speaker E: Do I have to roll for him too?
[00:59:14] Speaker A: Yes. You were gonna roll to attack the other crab.
And we will roll a D20.
Oh, I got eight.
[00:59:24] Speaker E: I got 12.
[00:59:25] Speaker A: And the black crab shuffles over and does the suplex on the other crab.
[00:59:32] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:59:35] Speaker H: Hey, there we go. Round two. Round two, play again.
[00:59:43] Speaker A: And you've just earned a huge pot bell. Like, What? Wait, that's 8 copper.
[00:59:50] Speaker I: Yeah.
[00:59:52] Speaker A: And it seems like sort of everybody who bet and lost, you know, has forfeit to the winner. And, you know, a little bit. Pot starts appearing again. And now the pot is very big next to the black crab, and it's smaller next to the white crab. There's got to be about 10 copper on each. And so another round.
[01:00:11] Speaker H: What do you say?
[01:00:13] Speaker E: Let's do it.
Beleg enjoys this. He loves games when he wins.
Oh, Natty One.
I got a two.
[01:00:29] Speaker C: Close.
[01:00:30] Speaker A: That's close.
It is a low octane match.
[01:00:36] Speaker E: Boring crabs.
[01:00:38] Speaker G: They must really not want to be there, those crabs.
[01:00:41] Speaker A: They circle, they shuffle around. And finally, there's sort of a deathlock. And it's unclear which one has even won. But ultimately, the black crab again emerges on top.
[01:00:53] Speaker H: And it just cheer goes up.
[01:00:56] Speaker G: Little.
[01:00:56] Speaker H: Little black crab. Oh, round three.
[01:00:59] Speaker A: Oh, round three.
And it seems like all of the coppers from these people's pockets are a strange copper. They are not marked with the sort of typical stamp that you might see of a kingdom of Baheru. They're marked with a K.
Marked with.
[01:01:17] Speaker E: A K.
[01:01:20] Speaker D: Oh, my God, so sorry.
[01:01:26] Speaker C: You just been knitting baskets?
[01:01:28] Speaker F: Yeah, man. You've been making our cakes for us all good.
[01:01:32] Speaker B: Well, so there's some really good baskets.
[01:01:35] Speaker A: Yeah, no kidding.
Steve and Rook and Noel, you now see that, you know a whole bunch of the morning has been taking up by the activities here. Kaitoa finally activates and puts his knitting needles down from this beautiful basket. And he lets out a toot of steam.
My crab's rolling.
That is a 14 on round three.
[01:02:05] Speaker E: That's a 17.
[01:02:07] Speaker H: Oh, it's a knockout.
[01:02:11] Speaker A: Three for three.
[01:02:13] Speaker E: Belly puts his hands up.
[01:02:15] Speaker A: Oh boy.
[01:02:15] Speaker E: Very triumphant.
I love this game.
[01:02:21] Speaker A: Everybody is cheering and then about 4 of the cheering fishermen who are forming the circle around this little game of shuffle crab are just pushed to the ground. And who is that behind them but.
[01:02:36] Speaker H: Fish more.
You don't have a license for gambling. I know that.
[01:02:44] Speaker E: I try to persuade him. That roll a charisma. Oh yeah.
Ah, shit. I should have done intimidation.
[01:02:54] Speaker A: Okay, the crowd is also gonna roll charisma.
[01:02:58] Speaker E: Wow. Beleg's roll was a six plus three. So a nine.
[01:03:02] Speaker A: Oh, they got a ten. Well, they actually met it. So they do a fairly good job of assuring Fish maw.
[01:03:10] Speaker H: It was only our little game of shuffly crabby. Just a match or two with the travelers here.
No magic.
[01:03:19] Speaker A: Oh, no, no, no, no.
[01:03:21] Speaker E: Why aren't you guys allowed to use magic?
[01:03:24] Speaker H: Well, that's the license we haven't had for a long time. Just passers through and rejects through more dying town. That's why we need licenses. Sort of everything with a license. Now where?
[01:03:39] Speaker A: Who?
[01:03:40] Speaker H: That looks like a black crab. Kill it. Tis a foul omen.
[01:03:45] Speaker A: And he goes to stomp on the black crab.
[01:03:48] Speaker E: Oh, that's fine. I just painted it that way.
[01:03:51] Speaker H: Magic.
[01:03:53] Speaker E: Nope.
What special weapon I have.
[01:03:56] Speaker H: I'm spitting and I'm furious, but I'm walking away.
[01:04:02] Speaker A: Fish maw. Fish maw.
[01:04:04] Speaker B: Fish.
[01:04:07] Speaker E: I also hand Kaitoa back his artist ads.
[01:04:10] Speaker F: Okay.
[01:04:11] Speaker A: The crowd disperses and Bella, you've won like a huge pot. 27 copper.
[01:04:17] Speaker E: Yes.
[01:04:18] Speaker B: And a lot of the fishermen make betting on.
[01:04:21] Speaker A: Well, you would have made I guess half of that because as long as you were always betting with Belek.
And the fishermen who won are pleased because they got their coppers back. A couple of them look kind of dejected, but they start going back to their work in the afternoon. And now sort of, you know, day two here in very, very nice weather. Again, it's the mid afternoon. What are you guys doing?
[01:04:45] Speaker E: I think one of you guys should also go To Tellfate
[01:04:48] Speaker G: I'm going to Tellfate.
[01:04:50] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Okay, Noel, the curtain is up. And as you pass by, the delicious aromas of that fish on a stick cart you're entering into a mama Tellfate's yurt.
[01:05:06] Speaker E: Can Beleg see if he saw Johawk walk in there?
[01:05:10] Speaker A: Yep. Roll perception.
[01:05:11] Speaker H: Oh.
[01:05:13] Speaker C: Rook's gonna follow him in there.
[01:05:15] Speaker A: Okay, rookie going in with Joe.
[01:05:18] Speaker C: Plus he wants his fortune 10.
[01:05:21] Speaker G: I'm gonna roll my constitution, save with my good die the one that's rolled nothing but twenties this session.
And that's a natural eight.
[01:05:32] Speaker A: Oh, dear. Rook, as you go in.
[01:05:34] Speaker E: Did Beleg notice?
[01:05:36] Speaker A: What was your role there, bud?
You do. You absolutely notice.
[01:05:41] Speaker E: Oh, I followed him in.
[01:05:42] Speaker A: You noticed. Though I should say. First, he was chaperoned by Rook.
[01:05:46] Speaker E: Okay, I still follow him.
[01:05:48] Speaker A: Okay, so you come in behind Rook and Johawk, and it seems at the moment like Johawk is restraining himself. He's frothing and working to contain some sort of an urge. Rook beside you, what do you do as this small halfling woman is sitting on her little cushion?
[01:06:05] Speaker C: I'm gonna get in between him and her and introduce myself and say, I heard you met some of our crew there yesterday, and they told me good things about you.
[01:06:18] Speaker I: I draw three cards and Rook.
[01:06:23] Speaker A: Can you roll a grapple check?
And jump. Can you roll a grapple check on who?
[01:06:33] Speaker E: Rook.
[01:06:34] Speaker G: Natural five.
[01:06:36] Speaker A: That's probably good.
[01:06:39] Speaker G: Is that a strength check?
[01:06:41] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[01:06:41] Speaker G: Strength total of nine.
[01:06:43] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:06:45] Speaker H: Right.
[01:06:46] Speaker C: Meow. Ooh.
That's gonna be a 22.
[01:06:50] Speaker A: No, man.
Well, Rook, you succeed in doing that, you sort of put yourself quickly between them, and you sort of give him a push into the ribs, and you hold him by the forearm, and you can feel this gnoll just shaking, but it subsides.
And now you turn back to the halfling and Joe Hawk, you are now released from Rook's grasp. But, oh, boy, he gave you, like, a mean Indian arm burn.
[01:07:19] Speaker G: That was polite of you.
I'm not going to eat her.
[01:07:24] Speaker C: Yeah, your body language told me otherwise. There. Just simmer it down.
[01:07:30] Speaker I: Ah, another voice. I hear three voices now, Pack Lord from two days ago.
I have more to tell you.
[01:07:43] Speaker G: Good, because I'm here for information, you half orc.
[01:07:49] Speaker I: Who stands in front of me. Roll 3d12.
[01:07:57] Speaker G: As Rook reaches into his pocket for cure dice.
[01:08:00] Speaker F: Yeah.
[01:08:02] Speaker C: Eight. An eight, a three and a ten.
[01:08:08] Speaker A: And she draws judgment.
[01:08:13] Speaker G: You judging me?
[01:08:16] Speaker A: Are you judging me?
[01:08:19] Speaker G: I think we're all judging each other.
[01:08:22] Speaker A: And the judgment card, you know, shows many revelers below the angel of Death.
And she looks up at you, rook, as you study the imagery on the card.
[01:08:38] Speaker I: And says, God of dark places beneath the earth presides over buried treasure and valuable jewels.
Such riches are not easily found, but they bring great rewards to their possessor.
Judgment, Punschley.
Judgment for your ancestors.
The souls of the dead rise up at his call.
[01:09:15] Speaker C: I like where you're going with this.
[01:09:20] Speaker I: Furry pack.
[01:09:21] Speaker F: Lord.
[01:09:23] Speaker I: I have more to tell you about the Empress Reversed.
[01:09:28] Speaker G: That's not the information I came here for.
Is that not indulge? I wanted to know what you know about the Wizards Guild.
[01:09:39] Speaker I: Perhaps you will discover through the card.
You may experience death, as I said before.
But how you enter Kozzem will spell your success or doom.
Do not transport to the Noon hour room.
[01:10:05] Speaker G: What is the Noon hour room?
[01:10:08] Speaker A: Johawk, can you roll one D20 and Beleg as you come in? Your presence has been noted. And then, Kaitoa, can you roll a perception? Much has happened around you.
[01:10:19] Speaker F: 18.
[01:10:20] Speaker I: The priest of the Moon.
The moon.
The first moon. Do you know the the myth of the two moons over Baheru, furry packlord?
[01:10:35] Speaker G: I am not familiar.
[01:10:37] Speaker I: Your tribes have looked up at the moons for thousands of years.
Two faces.
Old wise.
A great power resides.
Can careful as you enter Kozzem. The Grist controls all of the gargoyles.
[01:11:05] Speaker G: What happens if I kill this Grizzt?
[01:11:09] Speaker I: He sits like the moon atop one of the spires of Kozzem, looking down on everything and his minions on every rooftop, on every building in Kozzem.
[01:11:28] Speaker D: Robin, Kaitoa has got a 19.
[01:11:32] Speaker A: You see three.
You see three of your party members getting a tarot reading in the yurt. You see that there has been some repair to the destruction from the battle of Maw.
And you see also that there's quite a lot of activity. It seems like there's more and more produce developing for this tariff transportation that is now only occurring in three days.
And Joe Hawk. Sorry. Did you have one specific question? Did you ask about the appearance?
[01:12:07] Speaker G: I asked where he was. And you answered that. But I suppose I can ask that too.
How will I identify this grist?
[01:12:16] Speaker I: Winged, horned, large and bearing the sword of stone.
[01:12:26] Speaker G: So he is another gargoyle.
[01:12:29] Speaker A: Yes, yes.
[01:12:31] Speaker D: Caleb, as far as the insight I was asking about, like where we're gonna end up.
Who's the contact?
[01:12:42] Speaker H: Oh, construct man. Oh, you've been like a machine here, making all these baskets.
Well, keep your voice down here.
[01:12:53] Speaker A: And he kind of shuffles you around to the backside of the brewery. Kaitoa. So you're kind of away from the marble circle and says what did you want to know?
[01:13:04] Speaker H: Where to go and where not to go.
[01:13:07] Speaker D: I am interested in who's gonna be receiving us on the other end of this portal.
[01:13:13] Speaker H: Well, the grist oversees all, but he's not actually there. Of course it will. It will just be some of the folks from the Wizards Guild, likely servants, picking up the baskets, checking the barrels.
I've never been on the other side.
[01:13:35] Speaker G: It's that checking the barrels thing that seems kinda...
[01:13:38] Speaker D: What kind of checking barrels are they doing?
What are they checking for?
[01:13:44] Speaker H: Well, naturally they'd always want to open what's there before sending up to the school where the children are.
[01:13:54] Speaker D: Is there a liaison that goes with the barrels to confirm the order?
[01:14:00] Speaker H: No, never. Always we put it in the center stared back and ol' Zam cleans to make sure there's no interference. Don't want any accidents. A whole bunch of beer exploding on arrival would not be good. I'd be replaced.
[01:14:16] Speaker A: And there we go.
[01:14:18] Speaker H: Another empty circle.
What do you say?
Well, we used to have a construction in in here, but they took it away. The Wizards Guild. No more constructs. Except in Kozzem. We used to have one that powered that winch over there.
[01:14:36] Speaker D: What winch?
[01:14:38] Speaker H: Well, raising the boats like your thin, kind of girly, half elfish traveler friend has done. He lies down on his back like a woman.
[01:14:47] Speaker E: Elegant.
[01:14:50] Speaker D: Yeah, he's a coward.
[01:14:52] Speaker E: Fuck you.
[01:14:57] Speaker D: Feel free to tell all Maw about that.
[01:15:00] Speaker A: You do see over by the cliff, you know, this is where the fishermen raise and lower their boats like over 300ft. And you can see them laboriously, you know, slowly raising and lowering it. And then we're gonna cut quickly to Steve, because. Steve, what are you doing here? As kind of the third day rounds. What have you been doing with your... other than staying away from Johawk?
[01:15:31] Speaker F: I think he's spending time with Stolas in particular.
That talk about the whole concept of time is kind of interested in him. So I think he wants to learn more about it.
Certainly interesting. A lot that stole us that.
That Steve really never really learned in the wilderness, so to speak, that he finds quite mystifying.
[01:15:59] Speaker A: What was your role? Arcana, wisdom, insight. As you consult your familiar. Would you say you've been staying around Maw, or you're again sort of venturing in the couple of miles around Maw?
[01:16:12] Speaker F: Well, I mean, he's never been one for busy work, so I would say.
[01:16:18] Speaker E: Fool to do your busy work
[01:16:21] Speaker F: Yeah, the wilderness and. I'm gonna roll. I'm gonna roll insight.
[01:16:26] Speaker A: Okay, as you roll an Insight Kaitoa, you were stomping up to Beleg and the fishermen, I mean they just love him. As he sings away 'doing your busy work', you notice that there are still five boats down there. And Steve, what's your role on Insight?
[01:16:43] Speaker F: I rolled an 18 plus 6 I think.
[01:16:47] Speaker A: Then what we will do is at the moment, you know, Stolas will give you a wink and Stolas gives a knowing little twist of their head and then they do that sort of almost 270 degree rotation of their head. Then they do the same 270 degree rotation back the other way. And then Stolas gives you a little wink again like they have understood your question. But we'll, we'll get back to that. Steve and I will say on your trip around Maw you are not remarked. Your comings and goings are not remarked.
[01:17:29] Speaker D: As Beleg, sings the busy work song.
[01:17:33] Speaker E: Which was a Steely Dan reference.
[01:17:36] Speaker D: No, no, I want to hear it again if you don't mind.
I'm waiting for him to sing it.
[01:17:46] Speaker E: I'll sing it again if you want me to go.
[01:17:48] Speaker D: Go for it.
[01:17:49] Speaker A: Okay. He's working the winch. Here we go.
[01:17:51] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm a fool to do your busy work.
[01:17:57] Speaker A: Oh ye-ah.
[01:18:00] Speaker D: And like Kaitoa is now like honing his I think at the next level I get an extra level in rage and I'm learning to hone my rage.
[01:18:15] Speaker E: Every time you hear Steely Dan, I'm just like like focusing of like when to release it and when not to release it.
[01:18:27] Speaker E: Fucking steely Innendandro. It actually works well in our, yeah in our world. World setting
[01:18:33] Speaker A: Good stealing.
[01:18:34] Speaker D: I'm now focusing, focusing when to release it.
[01:18:39] Speaker A: Are you releasing it now? Are you holding back?
[01:18:42] Speaker D: No, I'm holding back. I'm just now learning that like how to hone it and that's when I'm gaining this extra level.
By holding it back, I'm partioning it.
[01:18:53] Speaker E: Finding your Zen.
[01:18:55] Speaker D: I now have one more chance to release it because I now know how to hold it back a little more. After this like terrible Steely Dan cover.
[01:19:08] Speaker A: And Kaitoa, the fishermen do look upon you and I mean you've been creating all of these baskets and nets both for the circle.
[01:19:17] Speaker D: I'm like weaving the nets and then I'm just like chopping them in half and like chopping the nets into like portion-able amounts as I hear this like blood curdling song, a bastardized rendition of a Steely Dan hit. And I'm just like I, I, I'm now like Zen, like just trying to partitioning my rage into another fold. I'm learning how to partition it into one more hit.
[01:19:52] Speaker A: As you try and achieve a Zen like state, several fishermen and one in particular, the youngest of them all. He must be only 50 or 60. He comes up to you and says.
[01:20:05] Speaker H: Oh, great nets, eh? I've been catching four times the crab and fish.
[01:20:10] Speaker A: Do you need any more information on those stinking wizards, eh?
What did it offer?
Look at my hands. And he shows you his hands. They are gnarly and broken.
[01:20:24] Speaker H: Broken as a child, eh?
[01:20:26] Speaker A: Rejected.
[01:20:27] Speaker H: Not good enough at the prestidigitation.
[01:20:31] Speaker D: Who broke your hands?
[01:20:34] Speaker A: Oh, the schoolmaster, he looked like he punished you.
[01:20:40] Speaker A: There's only one or two of us here, eh? Me and the fishstick dwarf.
What did you do wrong?
Rejected.
[01:20:50] Speaker H: Not good enough at me lessons, eh?
[01:20:53] Speaker B: How so?
[01:20:55] Speaker H: Back to Maw. My parents dropped me off here, eh? They want to get rid of anybody, any of their kids with, with sorcery. Turn them to the wizards. In this age, eh? They'll take care of us, them wizards. They say, well, not all of us. Not the rejects: back to Maw or... off the cliff.
[01:21:16] Speaker D: Why were you rejected?
[01:21:19] Speaker H: I had my own ideas I suppose. Wizards only allow some spells.
Keep your voice down, eh? Wizard in the armor - what are you then?
[01:21:31] Speaker D: Are you interested in the dark magic?
[01:21:34] Speaker I: Keep your voice down.
[01:21:36] Speaker A: Dark magic? Oh, that's. That's more forbidden than forbidden.
Double forbidden.
[01:21:44] Speaker D: I may know someone you need to talk to.
[01:21:47] Speaker F: Whoa.
[01:21:49] Speaker A: And Kaitoa. Now you know. Gustav is the only fisherman left. And it seems like he's got some arrangement with Beleg. Beleg: you filet Gustav's catch first and off it goes to Mawshemok. And there's a nice little economy you guys have created here. And by the third evening of the third, third day, there is ample in the transportation circle. It has all been packed into barrels. There's ice on the fish. You guys have selected a lot of barrels, you know, for beer. And yeah, on the third night there is another big bonfire. What are you guys doing here on the third night? There seems to only be two days to go until the transportation.
[01:22:34] Speaker E: I wouldn't mind talking to Tellfate and trying to learn more about this green stone.
[01:22:40] Speaker I: I forgot you were in my tent.
Pay close attention though. We are all playing a role here.
Can you roll one D20? What is your question?
I draw three cards, I burn two, and I tell you the third card. Right? Do you guys get that?
[01:23:04] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:23:05] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:23:05] Speaker I: Okay.
[01:23:07] Speaker E: Yeah. I want to know more about this green stone.
That could be used to fight Grist.
[01:23:13] Speaker I: The spherule of stone I gave you.
[01:23:17] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:23:18] Speaker G: Yes.
[01:23:19] Speaker I: It is a strange color. What color do you see in it?
[01:23:25] Speaker E: I roll a nine.
[01:23:27] Speaker A: And what color do you see in this stone? Beleg, what color do you think? What hue do you think this stone has?
[01:23:34] Speaker E: Very emerald.
[01:23:38] Speaker I: The world.
[01:23:39] Speaker A: And she draws the card of the World.
And it is written. You can see in ancient Elvish.
[01:23:52] Speaker E: I can read that, yes.
[01:23:54] Speaker A: The name of the world is Essead E S S E A D and this is the World that we are on.
[01:24:04] Speaker I: The World is associated with time and earth.
Three forces. Time and earth, and the rotation - resemble an egg. The cosmic egg. It is the ancientest of all ancient symbols. Wholeness, knowledge and wisdom.
This card may show the beginning or the end.
I don't know if this answers your question.
[01:24:41] Speaker E: Not really, but I'll work with it.
[01:24:45] Speaker I: Thank you.
[01:24:48] Speaker D: I'm gonna start asking some of the people I've been like, questioning with, like, trading fishnets for intel.
I'm gonna start asking about the Twin Towers broach that I have.
[01:25:04] Speaker A: Well, so Gustav, as you part ways with Gustav that afternoon, he rejoins you at the bonfire this evening. Kaitoa. And as you kind of lean over and ask him, he nudges you and says, I don't know about that, eh, but you know who would?
[01:25:20] Speaker I: Oldvic, the fish stick dwarf.
[01:25:24] Speaker D: Where can I find him?
[01:25:26] Speaker A: Oh, he's sitting on the other side of the bonfire there by Mama Tellfate.
And sure enough, beside the little old withered halfling is a dwarf. And you know, he's been, I guess, around every day manning his fried fish stick shack.
And here he is.
Yep.
And that is where we will have to leave you until the next time on Dungeons and Blaggards.
[01:27:00] Speaker A: Hey, Beleg, you've muted yourself.
[01:27:03] Speaker E: There are sirens.
[01:27:04] Speaker A: Thank you, thank you.
[01:27:10] Speaker B: We didn't want to miss any of your jokes.
