[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blackguards. I am your dungeon master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players. Tomo. [00:00:18] Speaker B: I am playing Steve Tehuman, Level 5 Gloomstalker. Ranger Fighter, Level 2, Rogue, Level 1. I have an owl. [00:00:28] Speaker A: Brandon. [00:00:30] Speaker C: I am ikarutpuy Schlage, Level 8 Blood Hunter, half orc. And I have breast enhancements. [00:00:39] Speaker A: Brayden. [00:00:41] Speaker D: Hey. I'm Braden. I play Beleague Dagar, half elf. Hexblade warlock, level eight, Eric. [00:00:49] Speaker E: I'm Eric. I play Dr. Zozo brightfeather, a level eight narakocra artificer. [00:00:55] Speaker A: And last but not least, Caleb. [00:01:00] Speaker F: I am the construct Kaito Hatata. And I'm a level 8 warforged barbarian. [00:01:11] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blackguards. Chaos at the south gatehouse to Hewgill Castle. Rook beheads the castle warden and engages the remaining castle knights. Beleg falls into a trance and is roused enough by Zozo's medical talents to be carried over Kaitoa's shoulder. Just as the party dispatches the final ravens here at ground level, a barbed bolt hits Rook in the back of the head, pinning the dwarf Oldfoot to him. It came from the open window to the Genku's tower. Kaitoa rushes Rook and Beleg out of sniper range, pursuing Steve and the owl Stolas up the spiral staircase as Zozo flies up to join them under the eaves of the Kenku's observatory tower huge door. Stolas springs a booby trap, sparing the party from dozens of deadly darts. Steve throws oil under the door and lights whatever creature is behind it on fire. Zozo sees her moment, casting catapult on a shatter spell. Kaitoa, unable to smash down this heavy door, relies on Steve's lock picking skills. And the door flies open to reveal a near destroyed giant albino Kenku. The party extracts what information they can from the ruined creature when suddenly they are swarmed by hundreds of black birds. Now with Rook and Oldfoot guarding the stairway, armed with the Freeze Blick cold blaster and the rest of the adventurers trying to stop the influx of ravens through the huge open windows. The afternoon sunlight is all but darkened by the flapping of furious wings as they fly in four new swarms of ravens. And we are at the top of initiative. Steve with the natty 20 ravens you'll remember come next. Zozo. 17. 3. You're on deck. Kaitoa. 14 plus 6. You're next. After Zozo Rook 13, Oldfoot, conveniently 12, then more ravens, then the Kenku 10 and Beleg. I'm sorry, you rolled a disadvantage on initiative. You had a two. [00:03:50] Speaker D: Oh, wonderful. [00:03:52] Speaker A: Now, can you also take seven hit points off your sheet? [00:03:57] Speaker D: Yes, I can. [00:03:58] Speaker A: Now, can you take 13 hit points off your sheet? [00:04:02] Speaker D: Oh, so 20 hit points. [00:04:05] Speaker A: Yes. And you have a gigantic bump developing on your head. You look down at your clothing. You are streaked with blood. Not your blood, but somebody else's. And you seem to have been dragged and carried through some sort of gruesome battlefield. But you're none worse for wear, except on. Your mind is all fuzzy. All you can think of is the word raisins. And then Leah. [00:04:36] Speaker D: Raisins. And then Leah. [00:04:38] Speaker A: Steve, you're up. [00:04:40] Speaker E: All right. [00:04:44] Speaker B: Steve, I'm going to. Y' all fall back to the stairs. Come back here. [00:04:56] Speaker C: Where's Max Plank when you need them? [00:04:58] Speaker B: Chuck some daggers. Chuck some daggers at them crows. Actually, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna use my last. My last spell to my last first level spell to cast hail of thorns. [00:05:17] Speaker E: Okay. [00:05:18] Speaker B: And to hit that is that easily hits. It's a 19 plus 8. [00:05:25] Speaker A: You know that connect. They roll decks and you have hit all four. [00:05:30] Speaker B: So the initial little crow gets a. [00:05:35] Speaker A: Unbelievable. None of them save. [00:05:39] Speaker E: Sweet. [00:05:40] Speaker B: So the First Crow gets 4. 7. 7 damage plus 5. So 12. 12 damage for the main one, and then all the rest get five damaged as well. [00:05:58] Speaker A: Okay, there are feathers, flying, beaks cawing and cackling, and dark clarence spraying against the wonderful floorboards and stonework masonry of the Kenku's tower here. Steve, what's next? [00:06:19] Speaker B: I get one more throw and I'm gonna make it a fancy one. So 16 to hit. [00:06:25] Speaker A: That hits. [00:06:27] Speaker B: Sweet. Five plus 10 for 15. [00:06:32] Speaker A: Okay, and were you targeting the first swarm? That is very close to Kaitoa and Bella Gonzozo. [00:06:39] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:06:40] Speaker B: So in my field of view, it would be. If this one still exists after that first attack, then that's where it's going. [00:06:46] Speaker A: Okay, that swarm is obliterated. And you have just made it to the top of the spiral staircase. Steve. Anything else? [00:06:58] Speaker B: It's main action bonus. I did my move good. [00:07:05] Speaker A: Ravens now swarm in Beleg. 11 plus 2 does not hit Beleg. [00:07:14] Speaker D: No. [00:07:16] Speaker A: 9 plus 2 does not hit Kaitoa. Ah. 15 plus 2. Zozo. [00:07:22] Speaker E: Yeah, that hits. [00:07:24] Speaker A: Did I ring your bell? [00:07:25] Speaker E: Yep. [00:07:26] Speaker A: Okay, 2D6 coming up in the form of beaks. Ooh, those nasty beaks. Ooh. Plus modifiers. 9 +4 is 13. [00:07:36] Speaker E: 13. [00:07:37] Speaker A: Oh, and right over Your head Beleg. Right through the gap between you and Kaitoa come these swarms of ravens. [00:07:49] Speaker D: And now do I get the attack of opportunity. [00:07:53] Speaker A: I was gonna say the polearm master. You would now have three that have entered your area here. And at the moment, there are not any swarms of ravens in the circumference of the tower. But be warned, they're just feet away from the open windows that are as big as French doors. You will roll three opportunity attacks. Polearm master and party. Beleague de Gar has dashed up. [00:08:27] Speaker D: That's a 17 on the first one. [00:08:30] Speaker A: The hits, you're going for 12. [00:08:33] Speaker D: That's 10 damage. That's a lot more than 17 on that one. 13 damage. [00:08:43] Speaker A: Okay. [00:08:44] Speaker D: And then also a lot more than 17 on that 1. 9 damage. [00:08:53] Speaker A: None of the swarms are totally decimated, but you have taken them down to only single and pairs of birds where there were dozens. Nice. Zozo, you are perhaps the bloodiest of the bunch here. As the swarms now flutter around Beleg and are absolutely shredded. [00:09:20] Speaker E: Okay, you are on. I think I'm gonna fly over and close the windows. [00:09:29] Speaker A: There are are three swarms of ravens right in your grill, but you could maneuver around them. [00:09:39] Speaker E: Okay, Yeah, I think I'll try to do that. [00:09:42] Speaker A: Okay. Can you roll an aerial acrobatics? [00:09:47] Speaker E: Okay, it's 19. [00:09:50] Speaker A: Okay. And you have ample movement to actually navigate around this room. Yeah. [00:09:56] Speaker E: Yep. Okay. I have 50ft of flying. [00:10:00] Speaker A: Well, you can imagine too, as the giant albino Kenku stands behind you. There's quite a lot of room for flight in here. And you just burst past and over the swarm. Zozo, you are going to have to roll your choice of dexterity or strength to close the windows. The better your description, the more I will add a modifier. [00:10:25] Speaker E: Okay, I'm gonna roll dexterity. I think I'll kind of swoop just outside the the window, grab the. Grab the windows with my talons and like, try to pull them closed. And I rolled a 16. [00:10:45] Speaker A: Got anything to add to that? [00:10:50] Speaker D: Hate when the DM says that. [00:10:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:55] Speaker A: Let me see here in this moment, Dr. Zozo, Brightfeather, you've managed to pull one of these huge doors almost completely closed. But as you flap towards the second door, you are intercepted. You cannot make it there in time. The ravens are upon you unless you do something very clever. What left in your move? I mean, you can still try and close the second window. You will take at least three opportunity attacks. [00:11:31] Speaker E: I think I'm gonna retreat. I do not have much, many hit points left. [00:11:37] Speaker A: How much movement would you say you have left? [00:11:40] Speaker E: So I have 10ft left. [00:11:42] Speaker A: You can make it back just to within Beleg and Kaitoa's melee rang. [00:11:49] Speaker E: Okay. [00:11:49] Speaker A: And you would avoid all raven assault. [00:11:52] Speaker E: Yeah, I'll do that. I'll head back over towards the door area. [00:12:00] Speaker A: Zozo, by the feather of your wings, you just close one of the apertures. And so now you are only facing one open window, folks, of about 3 1/2 to 4ft in width. And Zozo, you fly to reach your party members. And you are up next. [00:12:23] Speaker F: Kaitoa, the door I tried to kick open and Steve unlocked. Is it. Is it still hinged? [00:12:34] Speaker A: It is. This door can move and it is a large five foot door. [00:12:41] Speaker F: Interesting. I'm gonna save it. I'm gonna sprint up and shut the other door. [00:12:50] Speaker A: Okay. You only need to move one pace. [00:12:54] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:12:55] Speaker A: However, by moving that one pace, two of the decimated swarms of ravens, they're gonna attack your metal hide construct, man. [00:13:04] Speaker F: Yeah, but they'll attack after I make this action. [00:13:10] Speaker A: It'll be concurrent. Are you raging? [00:13:13] Speaker F: I believe I'm already enraged. If we're still in combat. Yeah. [00:13:17] Speaker A: So move five feet. And what you want to do with the door? [00:13:21] Speaker F: I'm going to slam it shut with authority. [00:13:26] Speaker A: Oh, the French door windows. I thought you were about to shut the door to the staircase down. [00:13:31] Speaker F: I was thinking about using it for a Max Planck move, but I'm going to hold off. Take that with me at some other point. [00:13:39] Speaker A: Well, can you roll a dexterity saving throw as you trip over this giant brass telescope? [00:13:49] Speaker F: But I can see it in front of me. [00:13:51] Speaker A: Roll with advantage. [00:13:53] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:13:53] Speaker A: And then my ravens will roll with disadvantage. [00:13:57] Speaker F: I rolled complete garbage 19. [00:14:02] Speaker A: No problem. Kaitoa, you step between the tripod legs of this brass telescope and you reef on the inside of this huge French door like window. You don't even have to get out to the edge where Zozo was like flying out in the middle there. You just grab it from the inside hinge. Ooh, watch your thumb. But you slam it shut. [00:14:27] Speaker F: See you in hell, science. And I like shake my fist at the telescope. [00:14:35] Speaker A: And Pardi for the moment. The birds now crowd on all three windows here. There are still three swarms of ravens and Kaitoa, you would have some movement left. This room is only 30ft across. [00:14:52] Speaker F: Yeah. So that was like 10ft of movement. I'm going to well knowing I'm going to be attacked, but I'm going to actually go back to the hallway. Door. And I'm actually going to man the hallway door. I'm just going to move back towards this hallway door. The tower door. Which I think is like another 10ft of movement. [00:15:20] Speaker A: You would make it back to that door. There's Rook with old foot there. There's the little 5x5 landing. Are you just standing filling the doorway? [00:15:30] Speaker F: Is there any crows left in the room? [00:15:33] Speaker A: Yes. There are three swarms. [00:15:37] Speaker F: And they are within five feet. [00:15:41] Speaker A: Yes. [00:15:42] Speaker F: I am going to take a swing at them. 18. [00:15:48] Speaker A: Okay. You will target one of these closest ones. Still flapping around. Belle Egg. Still flapp around the room. Deal. Damage. [00:15:58] Speaker F: It's just a regular VO dog. No. Great weapon mastery. 17 damage. [00:16:06] Speaker A: It was about four times in excess of the damage you felt you needed to deal. Kaitoa. So you can tell me how you instantly make crow pie mid air. [00:16:20] Speaker F: Just an axe handle chop right into the ground. Split the crown half. And I also have a second attack. [00:16:29] Speaker A: There is another swarm right up in your five feet. It's the one that Beleg was also slashing. [00:16:36] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:16:37] Speaker F: And I'm going to do the same. [00:16:42] Speaker D: You guys remember the puff of feathers when Randy Johnson hit a seagull with a fastball? [00:16:47] Speaker F: Yeah. This is a non natural 20. [00:16:53] Speaker A: A non 9020. Okay, roll up that damage. [00:16:56] Speaker F: The damage is I. I imagine 14 damage another time. [00:17:03] Speaker A: Even the one I suppose closest to you is splattered midair. [00:17:14] Speaker E: Right. [00:17:15] Speaker F: And I will just do a wink and a gun and call it a night. [00:17:22] Speaker A: So Kaitoa, as you wink and gun at the decimated raven swarms in the tower, you do note the approximately 30 swarms of ravens. Now 10 swarms to a window. And Rook, you are up. [00:17:43] Speaker C: How many swarms we got left in the room? [00:17:46] Speaker A: 1. And it is fairly well handled by Beleg and Kaitoa here. There's the giant albino kenku near his desk. There's Zozo looking bloody but not worse for wear. And there's Steve making down the stairs right in your five foot range. [00:18:04] Speaker F: So Robin, did I axe the ones you said would attack me for making the movement to close the door? [00:18:12] Speaker A: Yes. [00:18:13] Speaker F: Yeah. Okay. I got them. [00:18:14] Speaker D: Yeah, I got them. [00:18:17] Speaker C: So we're trying to keep the Kanku alive, right? Yeah, I'm sure about that. [00:18:24] Speaker F: I don't think these ravens. [00:18:26] Speaker E: I don't think they're. The Kanku's a threat at least. No. [00:18:33] Speaker F: I'm gonna use my bonus to. Oh, Black. [00:18:37] Speaker A: The Kenku just used his bonus action. He is next in initiative. And all of you are actually starting to at Least understand one word in Chukra. Inspiration. For anybody who can tell what they think this is. [00:18:53] Speaker D: It'S raisins. [00:18:57] Speaker C: I think it's Leah. [00:19:00] Speaker A: Wrong and wrong. Anybody else guessing what this might be? It's the first word you'd learn in any language. Probably. [00:19:07] Speaker D: Fuck. [00:19:08] Speaker A: Help. [00:19:09] Speaker D: Mom. [00:19:12] Speaker A: Help. Kaitoa. Inspiration. [00:19:16] Speaker F: Yeah, I finally get one. It's been like fucking round after round not getting shit. [00:19:22] Speaker A: And as the Kenku lets out this sort of little alarming whistle in rapid succession. But yeah, I mean, Rook, you've been planted here at the stairs for ages. What you doing? [00:19:33] Speaker F: Mute that. Thank you. [00:19:36] Speaker C: You don't really like hearing them talk at all, do you? [00:19:40] Speaker A: No, no. [00:19:42] Speaker F: I enjoy. I enjoy them silent with their head on a spidey. [00:19:49] Speaker C: Well, the other flock is being handled. I don't think I need to really. I was gonna cris blast poison blast them again, but I don't think I need to do that. I could poison spray them if you guys want. [00:20:02] Speaker E: Just don't spray me. I don't think I would survive. [00:20:08] Speaker A: Rook, they are in range at the moment. They are only 11ft away. And actually there are no party members, Steve. This time in the way. [00:20:19] Speaker C: Well if there's nobody in the way, then I'll poison spray them. [00:20:23] Speaker B: It tastes like batteries. [00:20:26] Speaker A: I thought it was like mojitos. [00:20:30] Speaker E: So they need to make it made with battery. [00:20:32] Speaker B: The mojitos were made with. [00:20:35] Speaker A: Now did they just make a saving throw? Rook on a poison spray. Yeah. You're gonna be rolling full damage. [00:20:43] Speaker C: All of them are taking full damage. [00:20:47] Speaker A: Yeah. This remnants of the swarm. [00:20:51] Speaker F: 1212 damage. [00:20:56] Speaker A: The swarm is dead inside the Kenku's tower. Outside the Kenku's tower there is an absolutely furious cawing from these hundreds of crows. You cannot see out the windows, guys. But you've absolutely finished off those ravens in the Kenku's observatory chamber. [00:21:20] Speaker E: Rook. [00:21:21] Speaker A: Anything else in your move? [00:21:24] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm gonna go give Chris Black back to Kitella. Far away is he? [00:21:31] Speaker A: You're like only two feet away. [00:21:33] Speaker D: Okay, well. [00:21:34] Speaker C: And I'll give him the old handoff there. [00:21:37] Speaker D: And. [00:21:39] Speaker C: Oh well, I'm gonna follow Steve down the down the stairs. [00:21:43] Speaker A: Okay. I need to make more backpack NPC backpack tokens. Yeah. [00:21:49] Speaker C: Does old foot have a. Well, no, I don't need old foot right now. [00:21:52] Speaker A: Nevermind. He will be in initiative after you and just before the Kenku. But after you hand off the freeze pack, you have a long two story staircase in front of you. You heading down there? [00:22:09] Speaker C: I'm following the boy scouts. [00:22:11] Speaker A: Okay, so you're collecting yourselves at the top there, Oldfoot says one thing and one thing only. Hey, you. Pretty boy's awake. And Bellog, you know, as you look over at Oldfoot with half his teeth missing now, and he's got blood all over him, and it looks like this gaping wound in his shoulder looks like a barbed spike or a pole of some sort has been ripped out in a reverse direction from Oldfoot. Oh, boy, is he bleeding. Next is the kenku, who looks around from beneath his ruined black goggles and his mask. You know, you can see his white feathers and his pink eye. He does begin to move towards the telescope, and he makes it the entire way towards the telescope, dashes across, picks it up, and then begins to turn around and go back towards the party as all three windows break and you see all of the ravens fly into the room. [00:23:38] Speaker C: Somebody shut the door. [00:23:39] Speaker B: GTFO. [00:23:43] Speaker A: Belleg, you are going to make over 20 opportunity attacks. So I'd like you to start rolling those. [00:23:51] Speaker B: Jesus. [00:23:53] Speaker D: All right. And we're. We're going for 12, right? [00:23:56] Speaker A: We're going for 12. Just start rolling. Tell me how many hit. [00:24:00] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:24:01] Speaker B: Blow everything back and away from you. [00:24:05] Speaker A: Did the canku fly out? And you hear the cawing now. It is deafening. You cannot communicate with your party members by normal vocal means at the moment, guys. [00:24:20] Speaker E: Okay? [00:24:20] Speaker C: And everybody's still in the chamber except for me and Steve. Nobody. [00:24:24] Speaker A: Correct. [00:24:25] Speaker C: On the outside, you know, you and. [00:24:27] Speaker A: Kaitoa and Zozo are right at the door. Beleg and the Kenku, I'd say, are most inside the chamber. [00:24:37] Speaker C: Beleg still inside. [00:24:40] Speaker D: Lot of opportunity attacks. [00:24:42] Speaker A: Half elf Warlock. [00:24:45] Speaker D: Yeah. Out of 20 rolls, I succeeded 16 times with one being a crit. [00:24:54] Speaker A: Well, then, start rolling. Damage, please. [00:24:59] Speaker D: Okay. [00:25:03] Speaker A: The person who is on deck is. Gosh, that's convenient. That is Beleg. Oh, wow. These opportunity attacks are going to lead into your move, Beleg. [00:25:12] Speaker D: Yep. [00:25:13] Speaker A: You're the last in initiative. [00:25:15] Speaker D: Do you want a cumulative damage number? [00:25:19] Speaker A: Yeah, give me cumulative damage. [00:25:22] Speaker D: Perfect. [00:25:23] Speaker A: And yeah. Party. What a spectacle you're seeing. Zozo, Kaitoa, you guys and gals are the last ones here at the aperture of the door to witness the kenku being really, at the moment, not noticed. As Beleg is swarmed, but seems to be holding his own. [00:25:47] Speaker D: Drinking about 157 points of damage worth of raven blood. [00:25:52] Speaker A: Okay, 157. So of the 20 swarms, Beleg, 14 of them are dashed upon your blade and sliced through. [00:26:05] Speaker D: Perfect. [00:26:06] Speaker E: Nice. [00:26:08] Speaker D: Full of mastery for mastery and belled. [00:26:17] Speaker A: You stand amongst the dark crimson blood that is now dripping in between the floorboards. The cawing is unbearably loud. You're up. [00:26:32] Speaker D: All right, there's four more swarms in here. Everybody else is running the fuck away. Is that what I'm picking up? [00:26:42] Speaker A: That's true. [00:26:43] Speaker D: Alright, so I'd probably evoke attack of opportunity from all of them. I tried to join the other guys. [00:26:49] Speaker A: You will take four opportunity attacks from the remaining swarms of ravens. [00:26:54] Speaker D: All right. Then I will cast armor of Agathis. [00:27:03] Speaker A: Okay, that's your main action. [00:27:05] Speaker D: Give myself 20 temporary hit points. And then anytime a creature lands a melee attack on me, they automatically take 20 cold damage. And for the dirt. As long as I still have some of those temporary hit. [00:27:21] Speaker A: And then they will take damage on a successful melee attack. [00:27:25] Speaker D: Yeah, they take 20 damage on it. [00:27:26] Speaker A: Okay, here we go. And so AC unchanged. [00:27:30] Speaker D: Yep. [00:27:30] Speaker E: Okay. [00:27:32] Speaker A: Checking in to 16 for Mr. Bellik? [00:27:35] Speaker D: I do believe so. Yeah. [00:27:39] Speaker A: Well, that was 16 on the nose. That was five. That was two. And that's a nat 20. [00:27:46] Speaker D: All right. [00:27:48] Speaker A: And then you have a little damage. 11 and eight. [00:27:51] Speaker D: Sweet. So both of those swarms take 20. [00:27:57] Speaker A: Oh Lord. How much damage? [00:27:59] Speaker D: 20. [00:28:00] Speaker A: Yeah, they're gone. [00:28:02] Speaker D: Sweet. [00:28:04] Speaker A: And the two that's seem to be swarming towards you, half elf warlock, maybe trying to impede your exit from the chamber here are frostbitten as they attempt to beak you. What next? [00:28:19] Speaker F: Are they the blue ones? [00:28:21] Speaker A: They are indeed. [00:28:22] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm gonna move, use my movement to run over to Steven Rook and be like, I got some sweat pouring down my face. [00:28:35] Speaker E: And. [00:28:37] Speaker D: Yeah, that's. That's it. [00:28:41] Speaker A: Did we just find another cameo cat? Yeah, well, you guys remember that, you know, cats are fairly common in Behera. You guys had those cats in the firefight at Iz run past you. In fact, there was a cat at the the bloodbath at the south gatehouse. And in fact, now it looks like the Kenku has some pets. You know, as well as you hear a cat mewing. What is that in the corner, Dr. Zozo? You know, as you look around. Yes, right. There were those cages of the tamed messenger pigeons and ravens. And there also is a kitten. [00:29:21] Speaker F: Stray cats love birds. [00:29:26] Speaker A: That's true. Anything else in your move, Bella? Yeah, as you rush back to join Rook and Steve and Oldfoot, I just. [00:29:34] Speaker D: Go, what the fuck is going on? [00:29:36] Speaker C: Welcome to the fight. [00:29:39] Speaker D: I think I helped my own. [00:29:41] Speaker C: You did good work, Brian. [00:29:44] Speaker D: All right, move over. [00:29:48] Speaker A: Steve. If only you were at the top of the order, Dr. Zozo. Kaitoa. Yeah, Rook. Beleg. Looks like everybody But Steve. No, actually, no, Beleg. You're gonna be saved from this. You're gonna be saved because Oldfoot's blocking the door. There it is. Time for an AC check on Kenku Quark. He's getting torn to shreds. Oh, Mr. Kaitoa. 16. 16 to 16. That's hilarious. Dr. Zozo. [00:30:32] Speaker F: 18. [00:30:35] Speaker A: These are all hits. And Rook, these. I'm on fire. That's 18. [00:30:42] Speaker D: Oh God. [00:30:43] Speaker A: Oldfoot, that's a nat. 20. [00:30:46] Speaker B: Oh God. [00:30:47] Speaker E: Jesus. [00:30:49] Speaker A: And rightly so, as you guys clearly would mechanically understand. [00:30:53] Speaker D: All of our NPCs are dying. [00:30:55] Speaker A: Every one of these swarms of ravens, you know, entered Initiative on their own once they burst through the windows. So there's now almost a swarm of ravens at the beginning, the middle and the end of the party's initiative. And that is a hell of a lot of damage. Now, Mr. Kenku, can you take this? Okay, the Kenku is mostly torn to shreds. Dr. Zozo, how do you feel about 15 damage? [00:31:23] Speaker E: Oh, that takes me down to negative three. [00:31:26] Speaker D: Oh God. [00:31:27] Speaker A: Kaitoa, how do you feel about eight damage? [00:31:32] Speaker D: Half. [00:31:33] Speaker A: Only four. [00:31:37] Speaker B: To Kaito. [00:31:38] Speaker A: He is. And Oldie, you are going to get the Goldie that is doubling. Okay, so Old Foot's going to take 28 damage and he feels the brunt of your attack. Their Rook, you have been spared. You are only going to take four damage. Nice as most of the stuff swarms here tearing the dwarf on your back to bits. And Steve, you're at the top of the order. [00:32:14] Speaker B: Oh boy. Okay, let's see here. [00:32:21] Speaker E: So I've dropped unconscious now. [00:32:24] Speaker D: I can order you out if need be. [00:32:26] Speaker A: You ain't feeling so bright. [00:32:34] Speaker B: So from my vantage point, there's just a bunch of crows kicking the shit out of everybody. [00:32:40] Speaker A: It seems like there are approximately three swarms around Kaitoa and Zozo. Definitively, it seems like there are four swarms that have attacked Rook and Old Foot. Sort of one on Rook, three on Old Foot. It seems like the Kenku has about three swarms on him. And you know, beyond that, it's a mess of the afternoon light filtering in amongst the feathers and blood. It's very difficult, Steve, for you to see. [00:33:11] Speaker F: So the Kenku master is also getting attacked. [00:33:14] Speaker B: Oh, he's getting shredded. Okay, he's gone. [00:33:19] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:33:20] Speaker B: Zozo is. Is, I guess, at Kaitoa's feet. Unconscious? [00:33:25] Speaker E: Pretty much. Yeah. [00:33:27] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:33:30] Speaker B: I need to get. I wanted to get the. The ravens around Kaitoa deaded so that he can. He can make a Retreat. [00:33:42] Speaker F: Okay. [00:33:43] Speaker B: And I can't get through. Like, if I walk through and if you try to leave, you're gonna. You're gonna get opportunity attacks against you. So you need to. We need to clear them around you. [00:33:54] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:33:55] Speaker D: Oh, well, fuck. [00:33:56] Speaker A: I'm at the very fucking bottom of the order. [00:33:58] Speaker D: Well, the landscape will be very different by my turn. [00:34:03] Speaker B: I want to clear. I want to clear as much as I can around Kaitoa so he's got space to grab Zozo and get the fuck out. [00:34:10] Speaker A: Steve, you can side shuffle only a couple of feet and scoop past Beleg between rook there. You would have to duck under Kaitoa's massive frame. I will have you make you roll something though. Okay? [00:34:26] Speaker B: I mean, I can do a tumbling act and. And just be as Steve as possible. [00:34:33] Speaker A: Okay. [00:34:34] Speaker B: Rolling and shucking and jiving. [00:34:36] Speaker A: Deadly serious on this one, Steve. It is a high DC for you to avoid the beaks. [00:34:43] Speaker F: Steve, do you have inspiration? [00:34:45] Speaker B: I. I have one. [00:34:47] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:34:47] Speaker B: One left. [00:34:48] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:34:49] Speaker B: So if I do really do need it, I will burn it. Okay, I'm gonna do that. Roll a dexterity check. Is that what we're saying? [00:34:58] Speaker A: Yes. [00:35:00] Speaker E: All right. [00:35:00] Speaker B: Dexterity acrobatics check. [00:35:02] Speaker E: Here we go. [00:35:04] Speaker B: Oh, that's a nat 20. [00:35:09] Speaker D: Nice. [00:35:12] Speaker B: What? [00:35:13] Speaker A: Yay. Yay. [00:35:15] Speaker E: Nice. [00:35:17] Speaker B: Yeah. So bounding and rolling and ducking between construct legs and I'm grabbing as many handfuls of Zozo's robes as I can and then like butt scooting with zozo. [00:35:38] Speaker A: Well, Steve, you are successful. [00:35:42] Speaker F: Are we giving up on the Kenku? [00:35:45] Speaker E: Oh, he's. [00:35:46] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, we're waiting around and he. [00:35:50] Speaker B: Kind of brought it upon himself. So. [00:35:52] Speaker F: Yeah, I also want to know what's up that telescope, but. [00:35:57] Speaker B: Close the door. Close the door. [00:36:04] Speaker A: Steve, as you shout that with the end of your move, unless there's anything else you would do, you have got Zozo back. The only swarms of ravens right now that are attacking Oldfoot would be, you know, probably smushed if you closed the door right now. [00:36:25] Speaker B: But Kaito is in the room still, right? [00:36:27] Speaker A: Oh, he's on the inside aperture of the door. So, you know, any act the party takes can close this door. [00:36:34] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:36:35] Speaker A: Now, at the very top of the order, you know, was Steve. But then, as you know, there are ravens. However, those were the ravens who rolled initiative in the first attack. So it is actually Zozo at 17 +3. Zozo, I would like you to roll some sort of saving throw. [00:36:57] Speaker E: Okay. Is that just a. Just a D20? [00:37:01] Speaker A: Well, you have gone below zero. Is that correct? [00:37:05] Speaker F: Yeah. If he's being attacked, he needs to do a death saving throw. [00:37:08] Speaker A: It is time for a death saving throw, as all is black amongst the wings and the beak attacks. And for all you know, Zozo, this could be the last time you close your glassy black eyes. [00:37:24] Speaker D: Why did I say hi to these people? [00:37:27] Speaker A: You got a few. [00:37:28] Speaker F: You got a few death saving throws, don't worry. [00:37:31] Speaker E: Yeah, I rolled a 17. [00:37:33] Speaker A: That is a success. You're just trying to beat 10. And Zozo, your eyes begin to flutter open, but you are prone, Zozo. [00:37:43] Speaker F: Death saving club. [00:37:45] Speaker A: Is there anything else in your move after a death saving throw? I would say you have regained consciousness. Certainly prone. [00:37:54] Speaker F: You can throw a potion from prone. [00:38:00] Speaker B: Zozo. Potion on my belt. You can drink it. [00:38:04] Speaker E: Yeah, I think if I'm able to, I'll make myself a healing draft. [00:38:09] Speaker A: Okay. You notice the ranger boy, Steve does flash you a strange looking ruby red liquid in a vial, Steve. Is that what you were suggesting? But you also have your own concoctions. [00:38:21] Speaker B: I do have the potions that we got all the way back from our bowl. Yeah, I still have three of them. [00:38:31] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:38:32] Speaker A: Okay, so that is a crapshoot. [00:38:34] Speaker B: Lantern potions. [00:38:35] Speaker A: It is either a lesser one, D4 plus two, or a greater one, D4, four, who knows? But the nice thing is it only consumes a bonus action. [00:38:45] Speaker E: Yeah, all right. Yeah, I'll. I'll grab one of those potions and down take it. [00:38:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:54] Speaker F: Steve's been holding out. [00:38:55] Speaker A: Okay, so eye roll. Whether it's greater or lesser, who knows what the master of Lantin puts in this stuff? Oh, it is a lesser one. D4 plus two. [00:39:07] Speaker E: One D4 plus two. Okay, so that's two plus two. That's four. [00:39:14] Speaker A: Well, you smash this small vial down your gullet instantaneously. You feel a rush of vitality and at least you're not hovering below zero. Does that take you back to plus one? Yeah, now you are mobile, so I'm. [00:39:34] Speaker E: Able to do more. Okay, I'll make a potion of my own to chase that down with. Yeah, you die hard. Yeah. Grab two vials out of my bag, mix them together, shake them up and then down it. [00:39:51] Speaker F: You're the John McClane of this fucking tower. [00:39:58] Speaker A: There is broken glass everywhere. [00:40:01] Speaker F: Everywhere. [00:40:02] Speaker A: Yeah, and this is no D4 silliness. This is like D8s, right? [00:40:07] Speaker E: Yeah, this is a 2. D8 plus 4. All right, so that is a 17 I just healed. [00:40:14] Speaker A: Wow. Zozo, anything else in your move? I would say you've used Bonus move. No, I'd say you're done. [00:40:21] Speaker E: Yeah, I think I'm done. [00:40:23] Speaker A: Well, only left now is a couple more swarms of raisins and then our friend Beleg. [00:40:31] Speaker C: Raisins. [00:40:32] Speaker F: Doesn't the Kenky have a second act or attack? [00:40:36] Speaker C: Rook, did you say ravens or ravens? [00:40:40] Speaker A: Raisins. Raisins. Right, right. Beleg. [00:40:43] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:40:44] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:40:45] Speaker A: All I can think about is raisins. So Zozo's done. Kaitoa, you're up. Rook, you're on deck. Kenku's next. Beleg last. And there are surprise raisins in there somewhere. [00:41:00] Speaker F: Well, I wanna. I wanna keep this door open. Smash every fucking raisin. I hate raisins, man. Do you know when you're trick or treating you get fucking raisins? That's how I feel right now. [00:41:17] Speaker C: I don't think you can give out raisins anymore. It's an open package. Hey, kids these days. They don't know the struggle. [00:41:24] Speaker D: Boxes of raisins. You can't give up. [00:41:26] Speaker C: No. [00:41:27] Speaker F: Robin. How many fucking raisins are we facing? [00:41:33] Speaker A: So you would say that there is 1 in your 5 foot range, 2 in your 10 foot range, 3 in your 15 foot range, and by the time you get up to 20ft, we're in Kenku territory where he is swarmed by approximately. That looks about like 10 swarms. [00:41:52] Speaker F: I'm gonna use my bonus action being like, close the door. [00:41:57] Speaker C: Everybody's out. [00:41:58] Speaker E: I think we all, all agree that, yeah, close the door. [00:42:01] Speaker F: I. I always. [00:42:02] Speaker D: I like, I keep fighting, but I want to smash. But I just woke up. [00:42:07] Speaker F: So yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna close the door. [00:42:15] Speaker E: Oh, he's whistling for help. [00:42:17] Speaker A: And you hear the last plaintive call of the Kenku Kaitoa as you pull this door shut. You are going to definitely crush a swarm of raisins. Can you roll a strength? Yep. [00:42:35] Speaker F: Oh, buggin. 20. [00:42:40] Speaker A: All of the heads and the beast of the ravens that had their way in through the door pop off. [00:42:52] Speaker D: Depactated. [00:42:54] Speaker F: Did any make it through? [00:42:56] Speaker A: The door slams shut with a huge shuddering clang. And the party now is in virtual complete dark other than the small semicircle shaped window above the observatory door. [00:43:17] Speaker F: I was gonna say, can I shoot my crossbow through that little hole and just fucking spear any room I can break the glass. [00:43:27] Speaker B: Don't break the glass. [00:43:31] Speaker A: I'm gonna leave you guys party discussion in time. I'm afk for like five minutes. [00:43:37] Speaker D: All right? [00:43:37] Speaker F: I. I want to fight. I want to kill everything in that room. [00:43:41] Speaker B: Well, we could. [00:43:42] Speaker D: I'm happy, like, just having them run towards me and Elder blasting them back. [00:43:46] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:43:46] Speaker E: Just put. [00:43:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:43:47] Speaker B: I mean, provided that you're on the. Well, I guess you could just sit yourself in front of everybody and then I, I. The reaction thing. [00:43:56] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:43:58] Speaker F: I really would love to run in with Beleg there and slaughter. Lock us in that room if you have to. Just like anyone who's rested, ready to enter, open the door, jump in. [00:44:12] Speaker A: I will say that this is not. [00:44:14] Speaker B: Steve's bag right now. I'm good at, like, focusing damage on one target. When it's, like, a whole bunch of, like, this, it's not fantastic. [00:44:23] Speaker F: I got swarms are left, like, six. [00:44:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:44:28] Speaker C: Yeah. We could take him out. [00:44:30] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:44:30] Speaker F: But I, I, I, I have the hit points. I'm pretty sure I can, like, chew through some of them. [00:44:37] Speaker C: I can't be in there doing too much. Rook's kind of on the edge. He's banged up. [00:44:44] Speaker F: Yeah. So Rook's banged up. Zozo's banged up. Steve's out. So really, it's just mean. Belle. [00:44:52] Speaker C: Yeah. If you guys want to go back in there and do it, and then we can. [00:44:57] Speaker E: I mean, I can do damage the. [00:45:00] Speaker C: Kinku, because don't we want to find out more information from them? [00:45:04] Speaker F: Definitely. So, Belly, are you. Are you ready to die today? [00:45:11] Speaker E: No. [00:45:13] Speaker B: Today is a good day to die. [00:45:15] Speaker F: Do you think we can smash through these guys? Do you have the spell slots to blast? A major chunk is basically. I just moved, so you're next. [00:45:28] Speaker B: So hunger of Hadar. Yeah, hunger of Hadar. [00:45:32] Speaker F: Well, but you. You'd also, like, slurp the kenku and the kitten. Yeah, and the kitten. Yeah. [00:45:43] Speaker C: Yeah, that's true. [00:45:44] Speaker F: And. And that thing got out of control last time. [00:45:48] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:45:48] Speaker F: Belloc's often too hungry for Dar. [00:45:53] Speaker D: The hunger is real. [00:45:56] Speaker F: So, Bella, do you think you could. What, like, Aoe, what do you think you could do? [00:46:03] Speaker D: Well, I think my biggest strength is that if we keep him in a choke point, I can just Eldritch blast them back repeatedly. [00:46:11] Speaker A: So I could. [00:46:12] Speaker F: I could crack the door and hold it. [00:46:16] Speaker D: I also have a shatter that I could use would be my last spell slot. [00:46:20] Speaker F: So if I crack the door, creating, like, a pinch point, you could blast them. [00:46:27] Speaker C: Belly, do you need that spell slot to heal Dr. Zozo? [00:46:32] Speaker F: Zozo, if you had another turn, could you heal yourself? [00:46:36] Speaker E: Yeah, I can. Yeah. I can continue healing myself. Okay. [00:46:42] Speaker F: So if I crack this door and hold it, and beleg was to eldritch blast them away from the door, therefore, I could keep holding it. And I'm not gonna be overwhelmed. Steve could just start hawking fucking daggers through this door crack. And then worse comes to worse, I let the door go and I start swinging. What does the party say? [00:47:05] Speaker C: Like, yeah, I mean, if you guys want to do that. Like I said, I'm dinged up, so I can't join. I would love to, but I've gotta hang back. [00:47:17] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm gonna have to take some time to heal myself. [00:47:21] Speaker C: Rook is in need of a long rest. [00:47:24] Speaker F: Rook needs a long rest. Zozo, you just need a turn. [00:47:29] Speaker E: Yeah, I'll be able to heal myself each turn. [00:47:32] Speaker F: Yeah, but Rook's, like, out for the count. [00:47:36] Speaker C: Well, I'm pretty close to. Yeah, I've taken some pretty big hits. [00:47:41] Speaker F: Yeah. Unless it's like, Zozo's fully healed. Then zozo might be able to heal you. But really, it's just like, we'll. We'll count you out. [00:47:49] Speaker C: Or I can have one of those sweet vials that Steve's been stashing. But that's only like. [00:47:55] Speaker F: Yeah, it's only maybe four. [00:47:58] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:48:00] Speaker F: Steve, do you think you could throw daggers? [00:48:03] Speaker B: Oh, I can always throw daggers. That's. Yeah, I've got plenty of daggers. I just hit, like, one thing at a time. I don't have, like, I can always. [00:48:13] Speaker C: Poison spray. It's really not that. Like, if you're cracking the door, I can run up and poison spray to you so. [00:48:21] Speaker A: Well, as the party are prone to do in moments of battle, they strategize. There is the beating of wings against the door. There is the gradually receding whistles for help from the kenku. And then no more. All of a sudden, the whistling disappears. But remaining are the cacophonic sounds of the cawing and cackling of hundreds of ravens. And as the stairway forebodes beneath you. What is the party doing? [00:49:04] Speaker F: I think DM just said that, like. Yeah, if we don't hear his whistling. [00:49:08] Speaker C: Anymore, what's the point? [00:49:11] Speaker B: Is he being mushed? You can always get that sweet telescope. [00:49:15] Speaker D: True. [00:49:16] Speaker A: Or we can. [00:49:17] Speaker E: Somebody's gonna rescue that kitten. [00:49:19] Speaker F: That's true. [00:49:21] Speaker A: Dr. Zozo, you do recall it looked like a waxy. Can you roll a history, please? [00:49:27] Speaker E: Okay, what if a rolling. [00:49:31] Speaker B: The ravens. [00:49:32] Speaker A: Oh, well, Meets. It beats it. You remember approximately 20 cages. It looks like there were about four or five pigeons. About 14 cages of raven messengers. And then it looked like, yes, there was a small cat in enclosure. And as the sounds of the kenku surely disappear, you do hear those animals on the inside. But at the Same time you hear the sounds of something coming from up the stairwell. [00:50:06] Speaker B: All right, let's get down the stairwell between two ferns. [00:50:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:50:11] Speaker F: Let's go down. [00:50:11] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:50:12] Speaker B: Take a direction. And I think. [00:50:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:50:17] Speaker F: Kaito is gonna lead the way. Down the stairs. [00:50:22] Speaker A: Two knights appear. They are the knights of Hugill Castle, bearing shields and longswords. Kill the quartermaster and his party. [00:50:33] Speaker E: Oh, they're charmed. [00:50:35] Speaker B: Let's kill this. These. [00:50:37] Speaker F: They're charmed. [00:50:40] Speaker D: We're on two fronts. [00:50:42] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:50:46] Speaker A: And that is where we will have to leave you. Until the next time on Dungeons and Blackguards. [00:51:06] Speaker E: Sam. [00:51:54] Speaker D: Anybody want to turn into a Great Ape? [00:51:56] Speaker A: Yep. [00:51:59] Speaker F: Kaito has been waiting for this for so long. Dude, what does that involve? [00:52:06] Speaker D: What does that involve? [00:52:07] Speaker F: Yeah, like. Like, what's. Is my damage? Stay the same? Like, what's. Or my AC Stay the same? What is my damage? Do I have an aoe? [00:52:18] Speaker D: Like, it's all in the monster manual. [00:52:22] Speaker F: I don't have one of the. [00:52:24] Speaker D: Yeah, we can find it online, though. [00:52:27] Speaker A: I would love to. [00:52:29] Speaker F: I would hop in this room and gradate the. Out of this room. [00:52:33] Speaker A: Just sit back down. [00:52:36] Speaker E: Okay. [00:52:36] Speaker D: Do that if you want. [00:52:39] Speaker F: That sounds really fun. Let's look that up, too. But also, if I hit, like, zero hit points and you were to, like, do that, would I regain hit points? [00:52:53] Speaker D: Sort of. [00:52:54] Speaker F: Or would I? [00:52:55] Speaker D: There's a long way before my turn anyways, though, so. [00:52:59] Speaker F: But would I. Like, that's. That's the big key. Would I start from zero or would I? [00:53:04] Speaker B: So I think what happens when you get changed into it, it's kind of like that druid spell. Yeah. You get their hit points, and then when it's done, you go back to your. [00:53:14] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:53:15] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:53:15] Speaker B: So basically, like, let's say you've got 30 hit points as Kaitoa, and you get down to, like, 1-8-point is your great Ape, and some. Something rocks up and smokes you for, like, 30. I think that bleeds over to Kaitoa. [00:53:28] Speaker E: Hit points. [00:53:28] Speaker D: Yeah, it does. [00:53:29] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:53:31] Speaker B: But you get a boatload more hit points. [00:53:33] Speaker F: Oh, but if I go into the room as grapen, then, like, I grape in the room and then go back to Kaitoa. [00:53:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:45] Speaker D: Honestly, the best move would be to do it to either Rook or Zozo because they're low on hit points. [00:53:51] Speaker F: And then there's. [00:53:52] Speaker B: And for. I think you lose your raging, too. Like, I think you. Oh, it takes you back. Like, you don't get the rage. [00:54:00] Speaker F: A wink and the wink and the gun. [00:54:04] Speaker D: That is a pretty good bar name. [00:54:06] Speaker C: I think we should call it the Winking Gun. [00:54:09] Speaker A: Oh, nice. [00:54:10] Speaker F: Yeah, the gun that's, like, pointed at you, but you don't know whether to trust it or not. It's like. Yeah, it's like a great name for a bar.
