Episode Transcript
[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am the dungeon Master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Brandon!
[00:00:16] Speaker B: I am Ekurook Punschley, half orc blood hunter, Level 10, Dark Lord.
[00:00:24] Speaker A: Eric!
[00:00:25] Speaker C: I play Dr. Zozo Brightfeather, Level 10 Aarakocra artificer potionsmith.
[00:00:32] Speaker D: Caleb!
[00:00:34] Speaker E: I'm Kaitoa Tata. I'm a level 10 warforged barbarian.
[00:00:40] Speaker A: Tomo!
[00:00:41] Speaker G: Hey there. I'm playing Steve Tehuman. I am a human Gloomstalker Ranger, level six, Battle Master Fighter, level three. And a little bit of Rogue, level one.
Vale!
[00:00:56] Speaker H: I am playing Johawk. He is a gnoll champion fighter and totem warrior barbarian.
[00:01:05] Speaker I: Hey, I'm Braeden. I'm playing half elf Beleg Dygar, hexblade warlock.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Previously. We begin with Kaitoa and the Gnoll pup wizard pupil in the arcane weapons crafting workshop. Where a terrifying restoration is performed on the eager short bow, now refurbished, restrung with this string of arcane venom and webbing.
In the...Krizblik?
[00:01:49] Speaker C: It was inspired by
[00:01:50] Speaker A: did I hear Krizblik?
In the adjacent laboratory, Zozo speaks briefly with Raymer the wizard minotaur, inquiring deeper into the functioning of the wizards guild, specifically the three high magi.
And finally, Dr. Zozo completes a rather sophisticated invention with a unique material, this brass perspex.
These two are interrupted, but not Dr. Zozo, the two I'm speaking of are beleg and kaitoa. beleg, still wandering the halls, and kaitoa - there are here the shouts of Rook, who has seen Steve and Johawk engaged on the level below them, below the Dansion.
Soon the parties rejoined, all in combat with wave upon wave of gargoyle minions emanating from the cliff city of Kozzem.
Having initially been taunted by the display of the head of the grist.
[00:03:11] Speaker C: Thanks, Johawk.
[00:03:13] Speaker A: Now assailing the party, throwing themselves at the party. And who in turn are experimenting with various weapons new and old.
And now, as the moon traverses the sky, we rejoin.
[00:03:35] Speaker F: That's me.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: That's you, Mr. B.
[00:03:38] Speaker F: All right.
I'm just gonna cast some shatter on these guys, because why not show enough shatter?
But here, how many do I get to kill there?
I'll take out in front of where
[00:03:58] Speaker C: Rook would be. Narcoleptic Rook.
[00:04:02] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:04:03] Speaker B: And if that's right happens to to knock Rook unconscious, then you should get
[00:04:08] Speaker D: like a stand in for rook.
[00:04:11] Speaker A: Is that 10 foot radius or diameter? Shatter radius.
Okay, so you got 20 foot diameter. Yeah.
[00:04:20] Speaker F: So that circle's pretty apt. Can I move that circle?
[00:04:24] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[00:04:24] Speaker A: I'm gonna give. I'm gonna give you the circle. The shatter hoop.
[00:04:29] Speaker F: Shatter hoop.
Yeah, the. The vacant. The vacant space that Rook is leaving. I don't want those guys to charge through.
[00:04:37] Speaker A: Okay, so shattering them, what do they roll? Saving throw constitution, I think.
[00:04:44] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah, they roll con and like take half damage on a successful save.
[00:04:51] Speaker B: Oh, so
[00:04:54] Speaker D: yeah, so they just get blown.
[00:04:56] Speaker B: Right.
[00:04:56] Speaker F: Also, a creature of inorganic material such as stone or metal or crystal has disadvantage on the saving throw.
[00:05:03] Speaker A: Oh, ouchie. There's no way.
So, Bella, can you please describe how you point your finger towards them and they're gone.
[00:05:13] Speaker F: Oh, they just go pfft.
[00:05:17] Speaker D: Rook is covered in like a.
[00:05:19] Speaker F: A fine silt, like a dusting.
[00:05:24] Speaker D: Did you just antique him in the best way possible?
[00:05:26] Speaker F: Absolutely.
His jeans are now distressed.
[00:05:33] Speaker C: He's breaded.
[00:05:36] Speaker A: Well, that is what happens. Party, Rook is blown back in a hail of exploding stone.
And he's coated in gray and fine white talcum powder from the shattered gargoyles.
And he is knocked unconscious.
[00:06:04] Speaker C: How far did he get blown back?
[00:06:06] Speaker A: He got blown back about 10ft.
[00:06:09] Speaker C: No, I'll take it.
[00:06:11] Speaker A: And so he clearly has hit the ground hard. And so his head ricochets off the brass floor.
He's out for the count.
[00:06:21] Speaker F: Sorry, buddy.
[00:06:23] Speaker B: He finally gets that. That sleep he's been trying to get.
[00:06:26] Speaker C: Long rest.
Rook would try and play that off as a long rest.
[00:06:35] Speaker F: Oh, he will fully.
[00:06:37] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:06:37] Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: And you just see Rook smile a little bit.
[00:06:45] Speaker D: Just a little smile and a nut scratch and he's out.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: kaitoa, you are up.
[00:06:51] Speaker C: Do I have to take a move to get him on me or like up to Rook?
Yeah, I would. I'm just gonna stand on top of him and I'm gonna do fire at the next closest, which is the guy right in front of beleg.
[00:07:09] Speaker A: Okay. You take a defensive position over the slumped body of Rook.
[00:07:16] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. I'm basically just going to stand on top of him and I'm going to fire the old heavy crossbow.
22 for attack.
[00:07:28] Speaker A: Well, you know, if it's above about. Yeah, six AC and one damage, these guys are obliterated.
[00:07:37] Speaker C: Obligation just to say we got a 10 damage.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Is this taking away the first most among this wave nearest to beleg Yeah, gone.
And
[00:07:55] Speaker C: there's no reload properties. So I get a second attack with that crossbow, Correct?
[00:08:00] Speaker A: That is correct. And the little spindle and a little windy construct automated parts. They kind of load a new bolt and they Pull the tension back and it is loaded just like that.
[00:08:17] Speaker C: That one is an 11 for attack that hits.
[00:08:22] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:08:22] Speaker C: A 10 for damage. Again.
[00:08:25] Speaker A: Okay. Again. Another gargoyle falls out of the sky.
Hit by a bolt.
[00:08:33] Speaker C: I think those are both my actions. If I can pick. If you'll let me kind of like stand in front of Rook and also like kind of ready him on my back.
[00:08:43] Speaker A: Try and shoulder him. But I'll have you make a quick roll. What. What roll would you like to do?
[00:08:49] Speaker C: I'd love to make a strength.
[00:08:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Roll a quick strength.
[00:08:53] Speaker C: 17.
[00:08:54] Speaker A: Yeah. Great. So you know, he's. He's clearly out. And his gargantuan orcish half orcish frame here.
You start hauling it up in your.
[00:09:06] Speaker C: I can imagine I'm at like disadvantage. If anyone attacks me right now. I'm schlepping him on my shoulder and
[00:09:13] Speaker A: you got Rook on your right. So I will say that you're not wielding any sort of two handed weapon right now. Okay. So Mr. Johawk.
[00:09:23] Speaker C: That's true. I could swing him.
Make sure his hands are bound to his swords. And then just swing him.
[00:09:32] Speaker A: Improvised weapon. Yeah.
[00:09:35] Speaker C: Yeah. Party member. Bergen's blade.
[00:09:41] Speaker E: I'm gonna suggest to everyone go back into the room.
I can handle this myself. And then I start biting.
[00:09:48] Speaker C: We're still in the room, man. Like we haven't gotten out of the room.
[00:09:56] Speaker E: Very high versus very low. Ac.
[00:09:59] Speaker A: That hits.
[00:10:01] Speaker E: That'll be six piercing damage.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: This gargoyle is pierced right through the heart. And it was a little weasel. Little weasel with wings.
[00:10:15] Speaker E: Oh, I chew on that a bit. But then I take my extra attack.
That is 14 versus AC.
That hits 460.
[00:10:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Six damage.
Oh. Looks like this one was a stoat.
[00:10:33] Speaker E: I'm gonna take my gnolish bonus action attack. Since I reduced them to zero.
[00:10:37] Speaker D: Hit
[00:10:40] Speaker E: 26.
[00:10:41] Speaker A: This one's a ferret.
And you rip it into crumbly rock dust.
[00:10:51] Speaker E: I've got so much. So many rocks in my mouth. Ow.
[00:10:57] Speaker C: Time to get your rocks off.
[00:10:59] Speaker A: That'll be my turn. Steve. You're up. And there's six targets at eye level.
[00:11:10] Speaker D: Well, I'm going to attack all of them.
All right. So 16 hit.
[00:11:18] Speaker A: Was it six to hit?
[00:11:22] Speaker D: Like I have to hit on a six?
[00:11:24] Speaker A: Yeah, that's correct.
Wow.
[00:11:27] Speaker D: Okay. Can I hold on a second?
I'm gonna. Action surge. So I'm gonna basically throw like six daggers.
[00:11:36] Speaker A: Oh, nice.
[00:11:38] Speaker D: Okay. I did not roll a single one. So they all hit.
[00:11:41] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:11:43] Speaker D: All right. So D4s. I do. First one I hit for seven.
Second I hit for five.
Third I hit for seven.
[00:11:53] Speaker E: Whoa.
[00:11:55] Speaker D: Fourth, I hit four.
Five.
And then the fifth I hit for four.
And then the sixth, I hit for five.
[00:12:08] Speaker A: Daggers singing through the air and, you know, obliterated from the party's view. And they crash down onto the waterfalls of Kosher.
[00:12:20] Speaker C: Here comes more.
[00:12:23] Speaker A: Yes. After Steve, there is a pause and then 20 gargoyles soar up on either side.
So, beleg you appear to immediately have taken two opportunity attacks.
Well, you know, potentially four opportunity attacks on beleg immediately.
[00:12:46] Speaker F: Like they're attacking me.
[00:12:48] Speaker A: They have flown right into your 10 foot polar range.
Two of them on the rook kaitoa side. Two of them on the Johawk side. Johawk, unless beleg reduces their number, you're gonna feel at least eight gargoyle attacks.
[00:13:08] Speaker E: That's okay.
[00:13:10] Speaker F: I rolled really poorly. But I. I hit all but one.
I rolled one. One like a loser.
[00:13:21] Speaker A: Which one did you miss? kaitoa, Rook side or Joehawk side?
[00:13:27] Speaker D: Let's see.
[00:13:28] Speaker F: Odds, kaitoa side, Evens, Rooks or evens. So the Johawk side.
[00:13:35] Speaker A: Okay, so here we go. So kaitoa and Rook side, Johawk side.
Oh, wow. They did pretty well.
Coming right for ya.
Damage.
That's a bit disappointing. Johawk, let's see if you get better damage. I'm just gonna declare all the damage at once.
Okay, Johawk, that feels a little better. Johawk and kaitoa, primarily you have done a great job shielding your burden Rook here. And I imagine your damage is gonna be halved.
You take 12 damage. kaitoa.
[00:14:16] Speaker D: Yeah, they're just attacking.
[00:14:17] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:14:18] Speaker A: And Johawk, you take 16 bludgeoning damage from these tiny fists.
[00:14:26] Speaker C: I.
[00:14:27] Speaker D: If I was level 10 being punched by a bunch of midgets all at once.
[00:14:33] Speaker C: Tiny fists.
[00:14:35] Speaker D: Just little fists.
[00:14:36] Speaker C: Little fists.
[00:14:41] Speaker A: Johawk. Damage, damage. And then you're up, Zozo.
[00:14:48] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:14:49] Speaker B: Yeah. While all this has been going on, she's just been kind of fiddling with the rifle, adjusting the sights and stuff.
So then she loads another round in it and says, steve, give me a target.
Since the point. Point. One of them up.
[00:15:11] Speaker C: All right.
[00:15:12] Speaker B: What does that one look like?
[00:15:14] Speaker D: A flying octopus.
[00:15:19] Speaker B: Okay, going for the octopus.
That is a hit.
16.
A fire round this time.
[00:15:28] Speaker A: You know, the wave here that has crested over the edge of the balcony is now a bunch of ocean themed type gargoyles, obviously. Maybe down from the seaside, down from the seashore.
Is this going to affect the four around it or is it just hitting one?
[00:15:49] Speaker B: It'll just be hitting one. Okay.
[00:15:51] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:51] Speaker B: It's not the most effective Attack for a wave of guys. But she's trying out her new gun. She's making all the adjustments.
It's mostly just target practice right now.
[00:16:03] Speaker A: Love it.
Destroyed. Another loud bang, though. Dr. Zozo, you do become acutely aware that a muffler or some sort of sound reducer would be a great idea.
Yeah, huge loud noise that reverberates out from the towers and. Yeah, 1500ft in all directions. I mean, this is a battlefield weapon, and it sure is effective here as you blow one out of the sky. What else in your move?
[00:16:38] Speaker B: I think I'll probably just reload the gun.
[00:16:43] Speaker A: Actually. I'm gonna hand.
[00:16:44] Speaker B: I'm gonna hand the potion over to.
[00:16:46] Speaker D: To.
[00:16:46] Speaker B: To Steven, tell him to throw it on his next turn.
[00:16:50] Speaker D: Oh, I can do that.
[00:16:53] Speaker A: Oh, nice. What sort of potion?
[00:16:55] Speaker B: It's a shatter potion.
[00:16:57] Speaker A: So there you go. You sling. You hand off a vile shatter potion to Steve, who's right beside you and beleg.
Unless there's anything else in your moves, Dr. Zozo, beleg. You know, you are up.
[00:17:13] Speaker B: That's everything for me.
[00:17:15] Speaker C: All right.
[00:17:16] Speaker F: I'm just gonna throw a double eldritch blast.
[00:17:22] Speaker A: This guy.
[00:17:24] Speaker B: This guy.
[00:17:27] Speaker F: And both of them hit.
[00:17:32] Speaker A: Gone. Both of these guys again. Your min damage on an E blast is one. So they're gone. Boom.
[00:17:39] Speaker F: And they get blown backwards.
They kind of look like buckshots after my.
[00:17:46] Speaker B: The people in the. In the city below are probably just like, what is going on? It's just raining. It's like hail, but it's gravel
[00:17:55] Speaker F: raining gargoyles.
[00:17:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:58] Speaker A: Hey, beleg, can you make a quick perception roll as you are standing first most among the party out on the brass balcony here?
You do look out over the cliff city of Kozzem way down below. But yeah, roll a quick perception.
[00:18:15] Speaker F: I. I belegged. I rolled an eight plus one.
[00:18:18] Speaker A: Oh, well, I mean, let's just say you feel some. You feel like somebody's watching you. You get the feeling that there are eyes upon you as you let those two eldritch blasts sing out.
[00:18:32] Speaker B: I.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: And I got no privacy.
[00:18:38] Speaker F: All right. Sounds good. I feel watched.
[00:18:41] Speaker A: Top of the order. kaitoa, you're up.
I got.
[00:18:47] Speaker C: How far is the guy in front of me?
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Five to ten feet.
[00:18:51] Speaker C: Okay, first guy. I'm just gonna blast the old crossbow here.
It hits.
[00:19:01] Speaker A: And on the left flank here, eight at eye level.
[00:19:05] Speaker C: Yeah. The first guy looking at nine damage.
[00:19:11] Speaker A: Obliterated shower of pebbles and rocks.
[00:19:18] Speaker C: The others are beyond five feet. So I'm gonna move back towards Zozo with Rook and I'm gonna huck Rook off my shoulders and fire my second shot.
[00:19:33] Speaker A: Yep, Rook, you shunt off onto the pews. Actually, look at that. Where the student body used to be when you guys first arrived on this level. And there he is slumped amongst the wooden benches. And you said you're now taking aim again?
[00:19:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
Shoot for that second shot.
And it is a nine for attack.
[00:20:02] Speaker A: Okay, this next one in line is gone. And this looks like to be the end of the cute little mammalian waves.
[00:20:11] Speaker C: Can I take the other 20ft back up to the front line?
[00:20:16] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure. Halfway after depositing rook there. Yeah, you can go try and rejoin that exact spot. Perfect.
[00:20:22] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:20:23] Speaker A: And now you guys are all faced with the aquatic wave here.
Seahorse there coming right up. And then you're up, Joe Hawk.
[00:20:35] Speaker E: I'm going to do one hammer swing to try and do that are next to me.
[00:20:41] Speaker A: All right. The seahorse.
There's a frightening stone squid.
[00:20:46] Speaker E: The seahorse hits. The squid hits.
[00:20:49] Speaker A: Roll damage.
Min damage.
[00:20:53] Speaker E: Seahorse is 13.
Squid is also 13.
[00:21:02] Speaker A: Okay, they are down.
And there is a growing pile of Johawk. You're going to get cover very soon.
[00:21:13] Speaker C: The rubble.
[00:21:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:14] Speaker E: As a bonus action, I'm gonna move half my speed. Wait, no, the. The balcony is retreated, isn't it?
[00:21:24] Speaker A: No, it is out. It is out.
[00:21:26] Speaker E: It is out.
[00:21:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:21:27] Speaker E: Then I'm gonna move half my speed up to the next one and make a bite attack.
[00:21:31] Speaker A: Yep. Bite that third one.
[00:21:33] Speaker E: It crits on a 19.
[00:21:35] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. Will you lunge precipitously close to the edge of the brass balcony? Johawk, you are like five feet away as you snatch this. What is this? What aquatic animal should this be?
[00:21:51] Speaker E: An isopod.
[00:21:52] Speaker A: Oh, nice isopod. Look at you guys. And so you snatch it out of the air, I guess. Roll damage. It feels empty and hollow, but roll damage.
[00:22:04] Speaker E: So that's 11 damage.
[00:22:07] Speaker A: Well, you know, just like actually that. It does feel empty and hollow. These creatures contain no sustenance, you know, they are truly magically imbued or conjured Gargoyle Effigies of little animals here. Anything else in your move, Johawk? As you stand atop the pile of gargoyle rubble.
[00:22:27] Speaker E: I'm going to use my actual move going back behind the rubble.
Go up to the room. I can handle this.
[00:22:37] Speaker C: You heard him, boys.
[00:22:41] Speaker A: Okay, that's the. That's. I guess your minor interaction that you shout to your buddies. Okay, you're up, Steve.
Oh, and by the way, Steve, one gargoyle has somehow slipped through and passed Johawk and Bell, like right through, you know, as Johawk retreated back over the pile. Look at that.
[00:23:07] Speaker E: I did not. I did not see that. That was under my health bar.
[00:23:11] Speaker A: Or did I? Right under the health bar.
[00:23:15] Speaker B: Don't throw the potion at that one.
[00:23:19] Speaker D: Just. No, Hawk deserves the pot.
I'm thinking that, that, that five over by the, like, right across the great. Yeah, yeah.
They should get potion.
[00:23:39] Speaker A: Steve and zozo. You're just, like, picking it out. You're like. Yeah, yeah,
[00:23:45] Speaker D: that was a good spot. Can you hit that?
[00:23:47] Speaker E: Yeah, I can get the hell of it.
[00:23:52] Speaker A: Yeah, there's. Oh, look at this. This is like a school of big ocean fish. There's a trout and a halibut and some cod.
[00:24:02] Speaker C: Just. Steve, like, licks his fingers, does the, like Heisman like football checks for wind.
[00:24:10] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:24:11] Speaker A: Are you. So you hucking a potion?
[00:24:14] Speaker E: Yep.
[00:24:15] Speaker A: I feel this is more like dex. Just to make sure that you throw it past Beleg and actually hit these folks.
[00:24:22] Speaker D: A Dex check?
[00:24:25] Speaker A: Yeah. And we'll make it equivalent to the AC. So just roll above a 6 on a Dex.
[00:24:32] Speaker D: Done.
[00:24:32] Speaker C: No problem.
[00:24:33] Speaker D: 16 plus 7.
Oh, I know how to throw.
Yeah.
I've been checking my whole life.
[00:24:45] Speaker A: And they are gone in a shower of gravel particulate. The whole party is sprayed up front.
kaitoa, beleg, Johawk, you've done a wonderful job keeping the front line together and cohesive here. Only one little garg has slipped through. And then in front of you now that wave is almost decimated. Steve, anything else in your move?
[00:25:15] Speaker D: Does it count as, like, a dagger throw?
[00:25:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel like that was one attack.
[00:25:21] Speaker D: Okay, well, then I've got effectively two more.
Yeah. Get the one that passed by good old Joe hawk here.
So that one gets.
[00:25:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:34] Speaker D: Definitely hit.
[00:25:35] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:25:38] Speaker A: Oh, Joe, you know what? That's one of the leftover mammalian ones. It's the sneaky weasel.
[00:25:43] Speaker D: The sneaky weasel takes seven damage.
[00:25:47] Speaker A: There was another weasel in that pack. Okay. Gone.
[00:25:51] Speaker F: And I was totally picturing that as just a miniature rhinoceros in 300.
Slowly goes to a halt.
[00:26:04] Speaker D: I'm gonna pelt the one by Kaitoa, I guess.
[00:26:08] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:26:08] Speaker A: Yep. Up to your.
[00:26:10] Speaker D: That hits on a 17.
[00:26:12] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:26:13] Speaker D: And that only does four damage.
[00:26:17] Speaker A: Blown out of the sky. This little gargoyle minion.
And the gargs.
Gargs are up.
Johawk.
[00:26:29] Speaker E: I'm very confident in my plate armor.
[00:26:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:26:32] Speaker A: The nat one.
[00:26:37] Speaker D: No hard.
[00:26:38] Speaker B: Yay.
[00:26:39] Speaker F: Physical dice.
[00:26:41] Speaker A: That's actually a really good rule, though. 18 plus 2. That'll actually hit you.
[00:26:45] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:26:46] Speaker A: All right. So four bludgeoning damage halves
[00:26:54] Speaker E: Wonderful.
[00:26:56] Speaker A: And so that's this little guy up in your grill. This little guy up in your grill. beleg, you get three opportunity tacks. Can you roll on these three?
[00:27:07] Speaker D: Yes, sir.
[00:27:08] Speaker A: And this is the end of that aquatic round.
[00:27:13] Speaker F: I hit them all.
[00:27:14] Speaker A: All three?
[00:27:16] Speaker F: Yep.
[00:27:18] Speaker A: And your blade sings through the air. Just destroys them in one fell swoop.
[00:27:27] Speaker F: Aw, yeah.
[00:27:29] Speaker A: Party.
As beleg's polearm delivers the cutting blow here. And gravel clatters all across the brass balcony. For a moment, all is quiet.
There is no subsequent wave here at eye level. Remember these gargoyles, none of them make any noise, just like the grist.
Other than that, it's very quiet.
Rook is just. We're gonna quickly roll what he's up to over there. Yep. And he is just snoring away.
kaitoa, you are up.
[00:28:08] Speaker C: I'm gonna quickly move to the edge and peer down below us and then also look above us using my eagle vision.
[00:28:19] Speaker A: Five more gargoyles, 30ft and approaching.
[00:28:23] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:28:24] Speaker B: From below.
[00:28:25] Speaker C: Below or above?
[00:28:26] Speaker D: Below.
[00:28:27] Speaker A: As you look down. These seem to be the last five coming up from the cliff city of Kozzem, at least from this side of the balcony.
[00:28:37] Speaker C: You said 30ft?
[00:28:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Coming right in on your position.
[00:28:42] Speaker C: I'm gonna fire two crossbow bolts.
12 for attack.
Did that first attack hit?
[00:28:52] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah. So this one is like all these weird amphibians and stuff, so that you got a beaver boosh out of the sky. kaitoa. And the next one's like some weird platypus.
[00:29:03] Speaker C: Yeah. Second one does as well.
9 damage for the first one
[00:29:10] Speaker A: and
[00:29:11] Speaker C: 10 damage for the second.
[00:29:14] Speaker A: Okay. And you see three more immediately fill that space still coming right up towards you.
And anything else in your move?
[00:29:23] Speaker C: Nope. Okay. Yeah, I'm just gonna camp here on the edge. And as they come up, I'm just gonna swat them down.
[00:29:30] Speaker A: Yeah, you're right at the edge there.
After kaitoa comes the Joester.
[00:29:35] Speaker E: I'm gonna take both of my arms and try to crush the gargoyles in between my hands.
[00:29:42] Speaker A: They are voracious and they are clamped on to you. So you're gonna try and manhandle. Sorry, Null. Handle these.
[00:29:50] Speaker E: Yep.
Do I have proficiency with my fists?
[00:29:54] Speaker C: Make a snowball and throw it at another.
[00:29:57] Speaker E: That was a natural nine and that deals five damage.
The other one is a natural 14 and deals five damage.
[00:30:06] Speaker A: Okay, well, describe how you, you know, delouse yourself of these stone gargoyle minions.
[00:30:12] Speaker E: They're clinging right close to me, so I just use a powerful, powerful punches to just crush them.
[00:30:24] Speaker A: These two are on top of the mound of gargoyle debris. And so now you have half cover over there.
[00:30:34] Speaker E: I'm going to take my gnoll bonus action.
Make a bite attack against nothing. And now that I'm here, I'm going to look over.
[00:30:43] Speaker A: As you snap some of the air like a dog out the side of an uncovered wagon, you see five more gargoyles.
And they are swooping in sort of equidistant to those ones that kaitoa is currently fending off. So they're about 30ft and closing from below.
[00:31:06] Speaker E: Is there any more coming behind?
[00:31:09] Speaker A: It does not appear so.
[00:31:11] Speaker C: Never mind.
[00:31:12] Speaker E: Don't go back.
[00:31:16] Speaker D: Fine.
[00:31:17] Speaker B: Stay here.
[00:31:19] Speaker E: I'm just gonna beat my chest a little.
[00:31:22] Speaker A: Chest beating.
Joe.
Anything else in your move? And then, Steve, you're on deck.
[00:31:29] Speaker E: That's it.
[00:31:30] Speaker A: Okay, Steve, you are up.
[00:31:32] Speaker D: All right.
Yeah, I think I'm just gonna keep it nice and daggery.
[00:31:37] Speaker F: Strawberry daggeries.
[00:31:39] Speaker D: Strawberry daiquiris for all.
What do we have here? Closest three.
[00:31:47] Speaker A: But there's no gargs at eye level from where you are back here in the brass tower level.
[00:31:54] Speaker D: If that is the case, then I will ready my action.
[00:31:58] Speaker A: Okay. Knowing that these guards just kind of fly up.
[00:32:01] Speaker D: Yeah, just kind of waiting. Waiting for the party to. To arrive, I suppose. As soon as they come over the the ridge and into my vision. Then they eat dagger. Okay.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: kaitoa, you know that there's three coming up on you. Joe, you know that there's five coming up on you.
[00:32:17] Speaker D: I'm gonna say I'm getting kind of tired.
So sleepy. Ready for long rest.
[00:32:27] Speaker E: Then go back up and take one.
[00:32:30] Speaker D: It's not what heroes do.
[00:32:35] Speaker A: That's not what heroes do? Is that what you said? Yep.
Oh, Steve. The. Well after Steve. The gargs.
So they are going to fulfill your wishes, Your bedtime will wishes. Steve. In this very moment, five gargs rise to eye level and assail Joe. And three gargs rise to kaitoa side and start pummeling him. What will you do?
[00:33:04] Speaker D: I think as soon as the first three pop up, he kind of like half goes half half size and like. Oh, okay, there's more. Then throw three daggers.
All of them hit more than a six.
[00:33:20] Speaker A: Okay, which three?
[00:33:26] Speaker D: I guess the first three that pop. Maybe the ones in front of Johawk. One, two, three.
[00:33:31] Speaker A: Okay, you pop off two in front of Johawk and then one in front of kaitoa as these two little groups come up.
And so kaitoa, you do feel two little gargs assailing you? And Johawk, you do feel three little gargs assailing you because you're just right there in prime garg territory. Ahead of and in front of and outside of beleg polearm range. His personal bubble.
They're learning.
I still got a roll, don't they? Here we go.
[00:34:12] Speaker D: Clever girl.
[00:34:13] Speaker E: Good luck hitting through my plate armor.
[00:34:16] Speaker A: He says 1, 2, 3.
No, nothing on the Joester. And kaitoa, are you still a 16 man or you're 15 man?
[00:34:26] Speaker C: 15.
[00:34:27] Speaker A: My gosh. I just hit you.
One of the gargs hits Kaitoa and you take a nasty little five bludgeoning damage.
[00:34:37] Speaker B: Half.
[00:34:38] Speaker A: Half.
[00:34:41] Speaker D: Just a pinch.
[00:34:43] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:34:44] Speaker A: Okay.
We're looking at you, Dr. Zozo.
[00:34:49] Speaker B: So they're all the gargoyles are basically on kaitoa and Joe right now.
[00:34:55] Speaker A: Engaged. Biting, ferocious punching. Nasty little critters, these final wave of amphibians. So you got salamander there.
[00:35:09] Speaker B: I think I've got the hang of this gun now. I'm gonna shoot one off of kaitoa.
Just stand real still.
[00:35:16] Speaker C: kaitoa roll for precision.
[00:35:20] Speaker B: Okay, that is a 16.
[00:35:23] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:35:25] Speaker A: So is this thunder cannon. What is its property? If you don't flask or reaction to the tip, it D12.
It does.
[00:35:39] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:35:39] Speaker B: D12.
[00:35:42] Speaker A: Huge reverberating noise again.
[00:35:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
Is obliterated.
[00:35:50] Speaker A: Okay.
Anything else in your move, Dr. Zozo? As you feel like as you look out, there are no more gargs rising to eye level. So save for the one on kaitoa, the three on Joe. It does seem that the wave of stone gargoyles here has not been reinforced this time.
[00:36:14] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:36:15] Speaker B: Zozo gives a wink and a literal gun.
Nice.
[00:36:20] Speaker A: Okay, party.
You seem to have your owl artificer now. Like really living and breathing the lifestyle,
[00:36:30] Speaker C: do you?
[00:36:31] Speaker A: Let's see. So that is that bottom of the order, beleg. Bottom of the order for beleg. You got nobody now penetrating your personal bubble.
[00:36:41] Speaker F: I'm going to do like the. The full iron cross motion and fire one eldritch blast at the gargoyle on kaitoa and then another one at the closest gargoyle to me. And I'm gonna try and push him back into the other two gargoyles beside him.
[00:36:59] Speaker A: That good old repelling blast.
[00:37:01] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:37:01] Speaker F: So I'm gonna try and pull the other gargoyles away from Johawk with the first gargle I hit. And then I'm gonna try and hit
[00:37:07] Speaker C: one with the Kaitoa as well. Nice.
[00:37:11] Speaker F: They both hit.
[00:37:16] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:37:16] Speaker F: And I also shout out, guys, I feel like we're being watched.
But I can't perceive.
[00:37:27] Speaker E: You're being judged for not retreating when I told you to.
[00:37:32] Speaker F: Beleg slightly adjusts his Eldritch blast to hit Johawk instead.
[00:37:41] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:42] Speaker D: Just to singe some hair.
[00:37:44] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:37:46] Speaker A: Ouch. Yeah. Johawk, you take one more shade damage, but you do have one less assailant upon you. Johawk. So you're relieved. And kaitoa, you're free. Like now. There is none of the remaining wave.
Now in this moment. Beleg, you do feel eyes upon you.
Kaitoa, you're up.
[00:38:15] Speaker C: There's two on Johawk.
[00:38:17] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:38:18] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm gonna jump over to Johawk. My forty feet.
I'm going to. Great weapon mastery. The first dude.
[00:38:28] Speaker B: 12 for attack.
[00:38:29] Speaker C: For the first one that hits 15 damage.
[00:38:35] Speaker A: Oh, there goes the mud sucker.
[00:38:37] Speaker C: And then for a bonus action, second guy. And it's 17 plus seven. So yeah, he hits
[00:38:47] Speaker A: you quite deftly. Remove the last two foes from Johawk.
[00:38:53] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:38:54] Speaker A: kaitoa, you declared earlier with your eagle eyes, you know you wanted to look out. And in that moment you. You saw the five coming right up on you. But I'll grant you that. You know now, as you look out with your vision in the quite cloudless night in the moonlight here, the moonlight of the two moons, there aren't any more airborne gargoyles. And as you look down to the town, of course you would be looking at the. The houses and etc. And there are no more gargoyles mounted on the buildings and the edifices.
[00:39:32] Speaker C: Because I heard that like we're being watched before my turn.
Can I do.
I think it's like a hundred. Is that 100ft?
I'm gonna do like a quick scan of like everywhere. Like just trying to look for someone watching us.
[00:39:50] Speaker A: As you now turn your attention, you know, from eye level and below down to the cliff city of Kozzem, you look up and back towards the observatory, the logia of the Dansion. And which looks out from the level above you. And there are silhouettes looking down at the party from those windows.
[00:40:14] Speaker C: Can I make out anything about them?
[00:40:20] Speaker A: Yes, you can certainly make out a very short figure. Very, very short figure. A little perky ears. So you think that might be that corgi and then beside them. It's unclear, but it's definitely somebody in one of those wizards pajama robes.
[00:40:38] Speaker C: How many figures do you say?
[00:40:40] Speaker A: Two in one window and then in another window again, an indiscriminate amount of silhouettes.
[00:40:47] Speaker C: Okay.
How many floors up? Or like one?
[00:40:51] Speaker A: This is the Level above you that you know, incorporates the multi level, multi room magnificent Dansion. But you know, from this perspective, this is the one sort of overlapping area. This is where Steve looked down on Johawk and gave him some chicken.
[00:41:09] Speaker C: Can I just like lower my ax and just stare at them like a blank? Like what do you want?
But I'm just gonna like stand there and stare at.
[00:41:21] Speaker A: Okay, party. You see kaitoa lower his weapon and ever so slightly now look up back towards the very same tower that you're on one level above. And party.
You are out of this late night initiative.
[00:41:43] Speaker D: Steve goes over to his gear and does like a little like two turn cat circle and goes to sleep.
[00:41:53] Speaker A: Steve, you have reclaimed your, you know, adventurers bedroll. This is where you're going. You are not enjoying the fineries of the dance. And let me just ask you though, you are one of the people who's supposed to be shackled. You have a shackle that kind of has a little acid breach in it that allows you to be in it or out of it. What. What are you doing in terms of your shackled deception status?
[00:42:20] Speaker D: I am not putting it around my ankle, but I am putting it close to it so that if, if needed I can. I can put a little illusion on it so it looks. Looks like it's around my ankle, but I'm not putting that thing around my ankle again.
[00:42:33] Speaker A: Close at hand or close at ankle?
[00:42:36] Speaker D: Close enough. I'm making it look like it is still likely attached to my ankle.
[00:42:43] Speaker A: Johawk, I guess we'll pivot to you real quick and talk about your situation right now as the pebbles coast and roll off the beveled edge of the brass balcony. You've had quite the battle up front here. Those initial attacks really dealt you, and I think it was rook some damage here. You're aching for that long rest. What are you up to?
[00:43:10] Speaker E: What a magnificent way to stay.
I'm gonna go back to where my chain is and I'm gonna sleep.
[00:43:19] Speaker A: Ah, okay. Yes.
[00:43:20] Speaker E: Unless anyone else says something.
[00:43:21] Speaker A: Okay. So similar to Steve in close proximity to the brass chains. Okay. You're making your your camp here for the night.
beleg what are you doing? You're also quite far out there. Oh, sorry, Johawk.
[00:43:35] Speaker E: I forgot to mention I'm gonna look at Zozo and I say, if that stick makes that loud noise one more time, I'm just about to lose it.
[00:43:45] Speaker F: Oh, imagine how high a frequency the dog hears with that
[00:43:52] Speaker D: Tinnitus. Just terrible.
[00:43:56] Speaker F: beleg wipes sweat off his brow, snaps his fingers for a little bit of prestidigitation to clean off all the gargoyle dust smattered all over his armor and quietly walks into the Dansion and goes to his guest quarters and goes to sleep.
[00:44:13] Speaker A: Okay. Re entering the Dansion, a little bit of arcane preening before beddy bedtime.
Lovely. as you do. So you know, you are greeted by the stairs of several of the students.
There is Corge, the corgi, and there are a couple of students and they look quite worried as you go, you know, nonchalantly to your quarters there. There's a bit of a panicked air with those who are awake.
Steve beleg Okay, kaitoa. Okay. Well then, Zozo again at this moment, then you are seeing beleg He has just hopped up the hatch into floor 31. What are you doing?
[00:45:04] Speaker B: I think she breaks down the rifle. I think when she for carrying it, she can take it into a couple parts. So she kind of takes it apart, puts it in her sack, does a quick check on Rook just to make sure he's okay.
And then, yeah, I think she'll head up to the Dansion as well to get some rest.
[00:45:26] Speaker A: Very nice. I love how your thunder cannon, like the barrel breaks off.
Clever, clever. So, yeah, you would note Rook snoring away there on the pews. He looks quite comfortable as you hop past his little bedroll up by the hatch there. And although it is late, it is still not unreasonably late that the party might be up for dawn.
So into the dancing Zozo. Okay, you see beleg there making his way to where he's going again. You would also be greeted by some really furtive looks and nervous glances. And now, in fact, some of those kids in their bedtime robes, they're dashing to their bunks like they have stayed up too late.
[00:46:16] Speaker B: I think she. She pulls out a notebook and starts scribbling down some ideas for a. Like a muffler.
[00:46:22] Speaker A: Okay, Right. So already thinking of some modifications. Yeah. Gosh, those were some loud shots. I think you shot it three times.
Yes.
Hope nobody had important meetings or exams tomorrow.
And then finally, kaitoa, then you are sort of left there.
Johawk seems to be near where Steve is also near and where Rook is also on this floor camped out. And you've seen Zozo and beleg disappear up back to the Dansion. And what are you up to?
[00:46:56] Speaker C: What are these gargoyles made out of?
[00:47:00] Speaker A: You roll an inspection on the stone debris. Like when you guys smash through them, they turn to chunks of rock.
Alternatively, they smash into dust if you pummel them hard enough.
[00:47:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
14.
[00:47:17] Speaker A: You would feel like. This seems to maybe be a local material. This actually seems to be. Be maybe the very same material as the cliffs.
This is no iron, brass, metal alloy grist. These seem to be sort of soft cliff rock conjured into the shape of gargoyles.
There's a lot of debris where Joe and beleg. And ultimately you were standing.
[00:47:45] Speaker C: Okay, I'm gonna, like, start shoving some of these debris and bodies in front of Rook on the bench to make, like, a little barricade just in case.
[00:47:59] Speaker A: You sandbag around Rook and you make him a nice little stone little bedtime fortress.
[00:48:06] Speaker C: That's how I'm gonna spend my night.
[00:48:08] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:48:08] Speaker A: You're camping out down here as well?
Yeah, I'm gonna.
[00:48:12] Speaker C: I'm gonna, like, fortify a little wall around Rook.
I'm maybe gonna try and see if I can make a bit of a, like, stone muzzle for Zozo's gun.
[00:48:25] Speaker A: Okay. You're also thinking about muzzling.
[00:48:27] Speaker B: Interesting.
[00:48:28] Speaker A: Interesting. Yeah. What's gonna absorb that sound?
[00:48:31] Speaker C: Yeah, I was thinking if this is like a soft rock, it might. Might shatter, but it also might absorb some rock.
[00:48:39] Speaker A: Oh, sacrificial muzzle.
Yeah, One time muzzle. As you as well, of course, need a menial task. Right. To set into for your long rest.
[00:48:50] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:48:51] Speaker A: And beleg do you have any special long rest abilities as a half elf? Do you only need four or something?
[00:48:58] Speaker F: No, I think I just sleep like a normal person.
[00:49:00] Speaker A: All right. So, yeah, just. Just nightmares of your patron, and I get like.
[00:49:06] Speaker F: Actually, yeah, if we're turning level 10
[00:49:08] Speaker C: right now, I get four hours for rest, but I can do immediate task.
[00:49:13] Speaker A: Four hours. Okay, party. So it would be. It's like 12:30 as everybody finally gets settled in and, you know, everybody's done their stuff. Maybe 12:40.
And now the party is finally slipping in to the sweet, warm embrace of a long rest.
[00:49:35] Speaker E: Including level up.
[00:50:43] Speaker C: For roll 20 purposes.
All the dead gargoyles and just pile them on top of Rook.
[00:50:51] Speaker A: Just.
[00:50:51] Speaker C: Just for community.
Every carcass is piled on top of it.
[00:50:58] Speaker D: Is it like in, like, a frat house where you've just, like.
[00:51:01] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:51:02] Speaker D: Like, layered them one on top of another?
[00:51:04] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:51:05] Speaker D: Like, see how tall you could build?
[00:51:07] Speaker C: Yeah, we piled him with beer cans.
Just Rook's face surrounded by stone, so he can't even actually get up.
So heavy.
[00:51:21] Speaker B: We'll convince him. He killed them all with his bare hands.
[00:51:25] Speaker A: You just went crazy.
