Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: Welcome, friends and adventurers to another episode of Dungeons and Blaggards. I am the dungeon Master, Robulon. Joining me in no particular order are the players.
Eric!
[00:00:16] Speaker B: I'm Eric and I'm playing Dr. Zozo Brightfeather. She is a level nine Aarakocra artificer potionsmith.
Brandon!
[00:00:25] Speaker B: I'm Ekurook Punschley. Level nine blood hunter, half orc.
Caleb!
[00:00:32] Speaker B: I'm a level nine warforged barbarian: Kaitoa Tata.
Braeden!
[00:00:40] Speaker C: Hey, I'm Braeden. I'm playing half elf, Beleg Dygar, Level 9 hexblade warlock.
Tomo!
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Hey, I'm playing Steve Tehuman. I am a Gloomstalker Ranger level five, Battle Master Fighter, level three. And I have just a little schmeck of rogue. And I have an Owl.
Vale!
[00:01:06] Speaker B: I am playing Johawk the Gnoll, a champion fighter 4, Bear totem barbarian five.
[00:01:20] Speaker A: Previously on Dungeons and Blaggards. The party levels up in Maw.
Zozo helps rebuild the tannery and does science and botany. Beleg fillets and resurrects a crab betting game. Joe interacts with the furriers and does some half assed furring and they tell him to stop after a while. Rook turns an okay brew into a less offensive brew while Kaitoa crafts both nets and baskets. After five days they do find a contact of sorts. Ol'Vic, the fish stick dwarf provides a safe location - away from the eyes and ears of the perceived Wizard's Guild's spying and scrying - to meet with the party.
Finally, Beleg, Steve, Rook and Zozo discover that El, the last elf is in cryostasis and bearing a strange piece of jewelry. A finely crafted metal necklace with the words "RS - Island of Moy". And in that moment, the Gnoll Lord and the construct have made their way back to a very familiar yurt.
And in this moment then, Johawk, you have stepped within five feet of the telltale fortune teller halfling. And you have indeed stepped on one of the small candles that she has had lit. And Kaitor, you are just steps behind him. You've been tracing him all the way. So we are going to deal with you guys first. Joe, what are you doing?
[00:03:28] Speaker G: Gonna try and pick up Tellfate with one arm.
[00:03:33] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:03:34] Speaker A: As you move to do so, can you roll a dexterity skill check?
[00:03:44] Speaker G: I bet this doesn't get affected by danger sense, does it?
[00:03:51] Speaker A: Yes, actually you could use that. Yeah. So advantage on this roll.
[00:03:56] Speaker D: You see it coming.
[00:03:59] Speaker G: 20.
[00:04:01] Speaker A: All right. As you step within her little mat, her little five foot by five foot mat, you Are aware of a small bell that begins to ring.
And she looks up as you grab her and you now have grabbed her and she says, I draw three cards.
[00:04:33] Speaker G: Not today and I'm gonna bite her face.
[00:04:38] Speaker D: Can I jump in before his bite?
[00:04:42] Speaker A: You certainly can, Kaitoa. And what would you like to roll? I mean you're within certainly distance to effect this bite, but certainly, Joe, you're about to bite.
[00:04:55] Speaker D: I'm going to roll athletics. I'm going to try and throw my arm so he bites down on my metal arm.
[00:05:01] Speaker A: And let's see if in this moment, can you roll an athletics.
And then what would you like to roll to bite Joe? I may. Depending what you say, I may have your roll initiative.
[00:05:15] Speaker G: I believe I'd like to.
I'd like to make an attack roll.
[00:05:20] Speaker A: Okay, you're gonna roll on attack. And Kaitoa, What'd you get?
[00:05:23] Speaker D: 24.
I will take it.
[00:05:26] Speaker A: Okay, this is all happening sort of in surprise before Telltales may act Joe, then roll on attack.
[00:05:34] Speaker G: See, I'm pretty sure I'm proficient with my bite, so another dirty 20.
[00:05:42] Speaker A: Okay, Kaitoa and Johawk, I'm gonna have you both roll initiative. And depending what you get, Kaitoa, you may red damage. You may get some of your metal hand or forearm in there. Is that your goal?
[00:05:58] Speaker D: Yeah, I want him to bite my arm instead of face.
[00:06:01] Speaker A: Roll initiative.
[00:06:02] Speaker G: Shiny metal got a total of four.
[00:06:06] Speaker A: Oh, four damage.
[00:06:08] Speaker G: No, four initiative for an initiative.
[00:06:10] Speaker A: Okay, but you definitely rolled high on attack.
[00:06:13] Speaker D: I got 17.
[00:06:14] Speaker A: Okay. So yes, Kaitoa, it is absolutely certain you have interfered and your damage is going to be half. So roll on the bit veil.
[00:06:25] Speaker G: Wait, what happened?
[00:06:26] Speaker A: Kaitoa has gotten half of his arm in between your maw and Telltales.
[00:06:34] Speaker G: So am I rolling damage against Kaitoa then?
[00:06:37] Speaker C: Yep.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: Yeah, you're rolling half on him, half on Telltale.
[00:06:43] Speaker G: So both of them take four and.
[00:06:45] Speaker F: The half robot arm. Yeah, exactly.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: This is not a satisfying bite of halfling face because there has been a metal construct and wooden parts getting in the way. So your total damage was 8?
[00:06:59] Speaker G: Yep.
[00:07:00] Speaker A: So Kaitoa, you will take 4. And depending if you're raging or not, you might. You might half that again.
[00:07:05] Speaker D: I haven't raged yet.
[00:07:06] Speaker A: Okay. And Telltales lets out a whimper as you definitely rip off part of her.
[00:07:16] Speaker G: Face, taking the skin on top of her cheekbone.
[00:07:22] Speaker A: And all in surprise. And Telltale gets a nine.
Okay, and then one more. Okay, Kaitoa, you are one more. You are up. And then party at the bottom of the Stairway down to the dock. We're gonna cut to you just in.
[00:07:41] Speaker D: A moment I'm gonna rage and I'm going to go for a grapple.
[00:07:51] Speaker G: Okay? Might as well go for grapple.
[00:07:53] Speaker E: Nobody hurts.
[00:07:55] Speaker A: Go to grapple.
[00:07:57] Speaker F: Jesus Christ.
[00:08:01] Speaker D: That's just a strength, right?
[00:08:03] Speaker A: Yeah, the strength.
A contest of strength.
[00:08:07] Speaker D: B19.
[00:08:11] Speaker G: My strength.
Not that high.
[00:08:13] Speaker A: Your passive strength ain't gonna do it. You can certainly try to get out of Kaitoa's grasp, but at the moment, Kaitoa, what is your goal as you try and wrestle this gnoll?
[00:08:27] Speaker D: Subdue him and get him to the ground. Pin him down and then alert the party. And then try and talk some sense in this maniac.
[00:08:35] Speaker A: Okay. There's a little bit of telltale in his teeth, but you do that with your main action.
Are you trying to alert the party? I mean, just to remember the moon is out. Most of maw is definitely asleep right now.
[00:08:56] Speaker F: I have it in my head that you've got like one of those like red bubble lights that pops up and like a klaxon starts going off as you.
[00:09:07] Speaker D: Actually, I'm just gonna let one whistle.
One toot of the old steam.
[00:09:14] Speaker F: Is it the. The alarm?
[00:09:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:16] Speaker E: Right in his face. You get a toot in his face.
[00:09:19] Speaker G: Yeah.
I begin cackling
a little robot fart porn.
[00:09:25] Speaker A: Rest of the party. Can you roll group perception and beleg. Could you roll a grapple check against a DC17?
[00:09:35] Speaker F: Me?
[00:09:36] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:09:37] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:09:38] Speaker D: Also with like, I don't know, can I.
Can I also talk to Joe here?
[00:09:45] Speaker A: Yes. You said you declared in the last part of your movement. You want to talk some sense into this fool or something? Yeah.
[00:09:51] Speaker E: Go.
[00:09:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:09:53] Speaker D: What are you doing? You realize you just attacked me. If you try and fight me, you're also gonna have to fight the party.
[00:10:01] Speaker G: Can I reply in kind?
[00:10:03] Speaker A: Certainly.
[00:10:05] Speaker G: She's my prey.
And once my initiative comes around, I might get hostile.
[00:10:15] Speaker D: You better start praying, Kaitoa.
[00:10:19] Speaker A: No sooner as those words escape your lips. And yo, Noel, as you did get not a bad piece of flesh of your legitimate prey.
You hear a enormous sound from right outside the yurt.
[00:10:40] Speaker G: My eyes go really wide, but I'm still centering my gaze on Tellfate
[00:10:48] Speaker A: Okay, and all three of you, Tellfate, Johawk and Kaitoa, see the entire half of the yurt come crashing down, accompanied by two claw attacks.
Okay, got a plus nine to that.
[00:11:06] Speaker G: Probably hitting.
[00:11:07] Speaker A: Okay, we have a 16 slashing damage coming your way. Johawk, what is going on?
And a massive white furry paw leaves an impression on you, Johawk. There's tons of blood now for. You've been struck across the face.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: No, it's a polar bugbear.
[00:11:33] Speaker G: Oh, my God.
[00:11:33] Speaker A: Is it Kaitoa? You feel a huge, huge jaw. Now. You thought this one jaw around your forearm was big. A jaw about four times the size comes crashing through the yurt. This looks like some huge, freaky polar bear.
Okay, you are going to feel 12 damage, and that is bite, but you're gonna half that. It's piercing.
[00:11:59] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm half because I'm enraged.
[00:12:01] Speaker A: If the target is a large or smaller creature, which you are, it is grappled. You must escape a DC20. Kaitoa, until this grapple ends, the bear cannot bite another target.
[00:12:17] Speaker E: But it's gonna start eating you from the foot up.
[00:12:20] Speaker C: So.
[00:12:21] Speaker D: So he's got me grappled and I have to beat a 20.
[00:12:25] Speaker A: Yeah, he's got you in his grip. He is on your right arm with these huge jaw. He slashed Joe Hawk in the face. And now telltale is up.
[00:12:35] Speaker E: If it's like a Mexican standoff with grappling, is it like a luchador standoff?
[00:12:39] Speaker A: Exactly.
Who goes first? Well, Beleg, you are in a grapple as well. So we're gonna move to the party.
[00:12:46] Speaker C: Down at the dock of the for our perception.
[00:12:53] Speaker A: Go through that first thing. Group perception. Did you hear the toot? And then Johawk, of course we're gonna come back to you. You're going to be the essentially top slash bottom of the order.
[00:13:04] Speaker C: So 19 for me.
[00:13:06] Speaker F: Okay, we're rolling Perception Perception to see.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: If you guys heard the warning, the subtle warning. Toot.
[00:13:15] Speaker E: I rolled my.
My perception. Roll the dice. Thought I was rolling perception when I rolled the grapple. Check. Because I just rolled 16 for perception, but I only rolled a 13 for the grapple.
[00:13:25] Speaker A: Okay, Steve.
[00:13:29] Speaker F: I'm going to say that I have a 22.
[00:13:35] Speaker A: Okay. Collectively, the party's sharp ears. Except for Zozo, who is perhaps still looking at the chest, which has held on to Beleg , as you guys were sort of closing up shop there, the mimic chest is sticking to you
like in a malicious way?
[00:13:58] Speaker A: As you look down, it looks up at you with its little brass eye with a forlorn little click.
[00:14:07] Speaker G: It just wants cuddles.
[00:14:10] Speaker E: And I am disguised as the Pimpernel, right?
[00:14:14] Speaker F: Correct.
[00:14:15] Speaker D: Can't sweet throw it at the bear.
[00:14:18] Speaker E: What are you doing, you tiny chest?
You know, you can't grab onto me like that.
[00:14:24] Speaker B: You're such a small little chest.
[00:14:26] Speaker A: If you want to get away from the grapple, I Will add a plus two to whatever you roll, but it is on your calf. It is just sticking to your boot.
[00:14:38] Speaker E: Roll.
That's a 19 with your modifier added.
[00:14:46] Speaker A: And its little claw foot, which is sort of inched over to you and kind of wrapped its way around your ankle. And your calf now starts to unwind. As you say in your pimpernel voice. Whatever you said. And rest of the party, you hear the toot and zozo. You know, with your mind and your scientific eye, you certainly would be noticing this. Guys, was there anything else you were doing with the chest, or are you truly closing it? Leaving it?
[00:15:12] Speaker E: I think we heard it too.
[00:15:13] Speaker C: We close and leave it.
[00:15:15] Speaker B: Yeah, Yeah. I don't think we want to deal with the elf right now.
[00:15:19] Speaker C: No, I think we close it and leave it and go see what Kaitoa is tooting about.
[00:15:25] Speaker F: Is this Kaitoa's alarm toot?
[00:15:30] Speaker E: Sure sounds like they're bonding over their barbarianisms, doesn't it?
That's the frame on the horizon, guys.
[00:15:37] Speaker A: Ah.
[00:15:37] Speaker F: Cartoon is farting in people's faces again.
[00:15:40] Speaker C: Classic.
[00:15:41] Speaker F: Classic.
[00:15:42] Speaker A: Kaitoa, can everybody roll initiative? And I'm gonna slot you into the yurt battle. So rook Beleg.
[00:15:51] Speaker E: Steve, Zozo, before I completely walk away, I do say to the mimic chest, like, you hang tight. I'll be. I'll be back with many stories to regale you with. Just hush now. Mimic.
And I give it a pat on the head.
[00:16:13] Speaker C: I rolled a nat 20. So 22.
[00:16:15] Speaker E: Oh, I also rolled a nat 20.
[00:16:18] Speaker B: No.
[00:16:18] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:16:19] Speaker B: Those are an 18 for initiative.
[00:16:21] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:16:22] Speaker E: Wow, we are getting into that fight fast.
[00:16:24] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:16:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:26] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:16:26] Speaker F: Steve is taking it easy with a 17.
[00:16:29] Speaker A: 17.
Okay. And who's got the higher? Did you guys both nat out Rook and Beleg?
Yeah.
[00:16:35] Speaker E: And I'm a plus two.
[00:16:37] Speaker C: I'm a plus two. Two.
[00:16:39] Speaker F: Holy.
Roll off.
[00:16:41] Speaker A: Plus two.
Who's got the higher? You guys both have the same natural initiative, yet let's each roll a raw d20 to see who gets there first.
[00:16:55] Speaker E: That's a nat one.
[00:16:57] Speaker C: 11.
[00:16:58] Speaker A: Oh, Brooke, can you describe on the staircase up how you you gain the footage?
[00:17:04] Speaker F: Poison sprite.
[00:17:07] Speaker D: It's actually a spritz.
[00:17:10] Speaker F: Just a little spritz.
A gleep. Yeah.
[00:17:15] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm gonna grab beleg by the shoulder and just pull him back.
Say slow your roll and then kind of jump.
[00:17:24] Speaker A: Okay. We're gonna visit johawk now. You are at the bottom of the order. Johawk, it is your turn to act. And once we start, what's gonna happen is we're gonna See, Rook? We're gonna see Beleg. Then we're gonna see Kaitoa. Zozo. Steve.
[00:17:40] Speaker G: I would like to rage.
[00:17:44] Speaker A: Done.
[00:17:45] Speaker G: I'm going to attempt to release Kaitoa's grapple on me.
[00:17:51] Speaker A: Yeah, that's right. He's kind of holding you, but he's also held by the bear. Okay. You can roll to get away from Kaitoa's grapple. And that was.
He rolled a 19.
[00:18:04] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:18:05] Speaker G: Okay. Do I get advantage from Raging?
[00:18:09] Speaker A: Sure.
And we'll. We'll carry forward Kaitoa's barbarian rage. But we'll let you get advantage on that.
[00:18:14] Speaker G: This green die was a great choice. That's a total of 26.
[00:18:19] Speaker D: Wait, why would you get advantage for Raging?
[00:18:22] Speaker G: Strength checks and saves.
Yeah.
[00:18:27] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:18:28] Speaker A: Class or class?
[00:18:30] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:18:31] Speaker A: Well, half of your goal is done here. You are free to, you know, attack. You are free of the grapple.
[00:18:38] Speaker G: Joaqu, can I just give a look see to the thing that clawed me?
[00:18:42] Speaker A: You certainly can. And as you do so, you will note that it has Kaitoa in the jaws. And here it is.
As you certainly note, the presence of a huge dire polar bear.
[00:19:01] Speaker G: I'm gonna cackle louder and I'm going to bite. Attack Tellfate twice.
[00:19:12] Speaker F: Go for the little one first.
[00:19:14] Speaker G: Natural two. So that's a total of 10.
[00:19:17] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:19:18] Speaker G: And does that hit?
It does eight damage.
[00:19:24] Speaker A: Okay. That was the first bite Attack.
[00:19:27] Speaker G: Crit on a 19.
[00:19:31] Speaker A: Deal your damage.
[00:19:33] Speaker C: She's done.
[00:19:36] Speaker A: Double sixes. Yes.
[00:19:39] Speaker C: No.
[00:19:40] Speaker G: Oh.
You make 16 damage.
[00:19:44] Speaker A: You make quick work of these two bite attacks. And can you describe what the next part of your meal is?
[00:19:51] Speaker G: I go for a proper bite of the face. Just try to get close my mouth around both her cheeks.
Rip and tear.
[00:19:59] Speaker B: And then bite.
[00:20:01] Speaker G: I go for the throat.
[00:20:02] Speaker C: Ah.
[00:20:03] Speaker G: That is my face.
She's not dead.
[00:20:10] Speaker A: Nope.
[00:20:12] Speaker G: Wow.
[00:20:12] Speaker A: What else? In your move as blood you up from the gaping wounds you have rent across her face, neck and cheeks.
[00:20:25] Speaker E: Level 20. Wizard. You just attacked.
[00:20:28] Speaker G: Oh, when I crit or drop an enemy. Oh, no, never mind. I already used my bonus action to rage.
[00:20:33] Speaker D: To rage? Yeah.
[00:20:35] Speaker G: I used half my movement escaping the grab, right?
[00:20:38] Speaker A: Yes. So that's 20ft of your 40ft.
[00:20:41] Speaker G: I'm going to move 20ft away from the bear and Kaitoa. Is my speed halved because I'm grabbing Tellfate because I'm taking her with me.
[00:20:50] Speaker A: Oh, you're taking her with you?
[00:20:53] Speaker G: Yes.
[00:20:55] Speaker A: No. I would say this. This does not affect your speed. She's very light.
[00:21:00] Speaker G: Wonderful.
Yeah. I'll take attacks of opportunity. If I Have to. I'm just going to like this way. Completely away from Kaitoa and the bear.
[00:21:09] Speaker A: Through the destroyed structure of the yurt. Yeah, for sure.
And so, Kaitoa, you're certainly seeing this.
And there goes Joe grabbing the little halfling fortune teller rod.
[00:21:24] Speaker C: How far away are we? Are we seeing this?
[00:21:27] Speaker A: We are going to essentially, you know, assume that you guys fast forwarded right there.
[00:21:34] Speaker C: So we're seeing him grab her and take off and him attack her.
[00:21:38] Speaker A: Right. And in this exact moment, that is what happens. You were at the very bottom of the order, Johawk. And then, Rook, you're the first to see this. You dash in to the yurt, which has clearly been half torn down. There's Kaitoa. There's this huge bear with a jaw around his arm. You're up.
[00:21:59] Speaker B: Yeah, we're all here.
[00:22:01] Speaker C: Okay. How far away is Joe?
[00:22:05] Speaker D: Can we tame this bear?
[00:22:09] Speaker G: I could talk to it.
[00:22:11] Speaker A: Approximately 30ft. Yeah, 25. 30ft. Just at the perimeter of this rather large. You know, it's a communal yurt.
[00:22:19] Speaker C: Hmm.
I just want to see how. I want to collect this bear to get him to take his jaw off of Kaitoa. I enter the other guys.
Look at Steve. Steve, do you have any range to maybe put Johawk in check here?
[00:22:36] Speaker F: Like kill him?
[00:22:37] Speaker C: Well, at least get him to drop Telltales and stop attacking her.
[00:22:42] Speaker E: Yep.
[00:22:43] Speaker B: He is the one that knows the incantation to transport us to the Wizard's Guild. So killing him is probably not a great idea.
[00:22:51] Speaker C: Well, I don't want to kill him. I just don't want him to. Yeah, I guess. At the same time.
[00:22:55] Speaker F: Yeah, I can.
[00:22:58] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:22:59] Speaker F: Well, do you want me to?
Okay, I'm gonna use a disarming strike.
[00:23:04] Speaker C: Okay. I'm gonna.
[00:23:05] Speaker F: Well, my Battle Master maneuver.
[00:23:09] Speaker C: I'm gonna attack the bear. So if I do that and check get him off Kaitoa here, then I'll leave that in your capable hands. On your turn.
[00:23:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:19] Speaker C: So I am going to pull out my voltaic machete and Bergen's blade.
[00:23:28] Speaker A: Okay. And you are about the same distance equidistant to the bear. About 30ft to Kaitoa and the bear.
[00:23:36] Speaker C: I'm gonna imbue my Bergen's blade with the Rite of Flame.
[00:23:41] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:23:42] Speaker C: And then I'm gonna take my attacks on the bear. So is going to be my Bergen's Blade followed by my.
[00:23:51] Speaker A: The long sword first. This guy has natural armor.
[00:23:56] Speaker C: It's a 22 on the first attack that hits.7 on the second attack, which does not hit.
[00:24:06] Speaker A: I roll damage on the 22 on the long sword.
[00:24:10] Speaker C: I just gotta make sure my Crimson is correctamundo All right.
It's okay.
[00:24:17] Speaker D: It's been a while for all of us.
All right.
[00:24:20] Speaker A: I'm looking it up, too. Crimson right damage?
[00:24:23] Speaker C: Yeah, just double D6.
[00:24:25] Speaker B: Just a single D6.
Yeah.
[00:24:27] Speaker C: So D8 and a D6.
Come on, baby.
The slashing is going to be a seven on the Crimson, right?
Gonna be just one.
Just a one.
[00:24:42] Speaker A: Just a poke.
You slash the bear and you have drawn blood. But your blade does sort of bounce off a strange bony protrusion.
[00:24:54] Speaker C: Okay, and can I choose where I'm slashing him or. No, not really.
[00:24:59] Speaker A: Well, are you? You can certainly choose the bits that are near Kaitoa or the bits that aren't.
[00:25:04] Speaker C: Yeah, I want to try to get it near Kaitoa to get him to let him go.
[00:25:09] Speaker A: All right. The bear is holding Kaitoa by the arm with its jaws.
[00:25:13] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:25:16] Speaker B: Go for the throat.
[00:25:17] Speaker A: And Bella, gear on deck.
[00:25:19] Speaker F: Yep.
[00:25:20] Speaker C: Do I still have my extra attack?
[00:25:24] Speaker A: No, you did it. No, because you did a bonus. You did a flame. You did two draws, two attacks. You're done, boy.
[00:25:30] Speaker G: All right.
[00:25:30] Speaker D: Damn it.
[00:25:32] Speaker A: And then you did your little strategy talk with Steve. Bella, gear up.
[00:25:36] Speaker E: Hey, Steve, you're pretty comfortable with that disarming strike?
[00:25:40] Speaker F: I've never used it before, but I'm pretty good at things.
[00:25:43] Speaker E: All right, then I'll focus on saving Kaitoa.
[00:25:47] Speaker F: It's special.
[00:25:49] Speaker D: Who said I need saved?
[00:25:53] Speaker E: You go after Veil, though, too, don't you?
[00:25:55] Speaker B: You?
[00:25:56] Speaker D: Me?
[00:25:57] Speaker G: No, he goes first.
[00:25:58] Speaker A: No, he's in the 17 Club.
[00:25:59] Speaker E: Oh, right. 17, right, right.
[00:26:02] Speaker F: I just didn't roll any crit 20s for my initiative this time.
[00:26:05] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:26:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
Okay.
[00:26:07] Speaker E: In that case, then I'll bust out some level 9 magic and cast Hold Monster on the bug or the bear.
[00:26:14] Speaker A: Interesting. And then. Yeah. Zozo, you're on deck with 18. Okay. Hold monster is. Do you just cast it and then do they roll?
[00:26:22] Speaker E: Wisdom save DC15.
[00:26:25] Speaker A: Okay.
Fail.
[00:26:27] Speaker D: Is that like a cradle? Like. Easy, big fella.
[00:26:31] Speaker E: Oh, he. So the bear is paralyzed for one minute, and on each turn, he can make a wisdom saving throw to end the effect.
[00:26:43] Speaker D: Awesome.
[00:26:44] Speaker E: But other than that, he's completely paralyzed for the next 10 rounds of combat.
[00:26:49] Speaker D: You had me paralyzed?
[00:26:51] Speaker E: Although I don't know if that means that his jaw is also stuck on you.
[00:26:54] Speaker A: Oh, it's. It's like rigor mortis now. But yeah, this bear. Although his wisdom isn't bad, so he gets to try and roll, but otherwise he is held. And how Would you describe this Beleg?
[00:27:07] Speaker E: Oh, it's you. You know the. The expression someone gets on their face when something unexpected goes up their butt?
The bear has that look on his face.
With the tip of my finger.
[00:27:28] Speaker C: Of course.
[00:27:29] Speaker E: That was gonna be you, Vale old monster.
[00:27:33] Speaker G: Do you even need to cast hold monster? Or am I a person?
[00:27:38] Speaker A: Am I person or am I monster?
[00:27:42] Speaker G: Are we human or are we dancing?
[00:27:46] Speaker A: Well look, the bear now is like you say, frozen in that moment of shock and surprise. Like you say, his eyes go cold and he is now under the effect paralysis.
[00:28:02] Speaker E: Yep.
[00:28:03] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:28:03] Speaker A: Okay.
Anything else in your movement?
[00:28:06] Speaker E: I'm gonna move up close to him and I don't think there's anything fun I can do with the bonus action right now.
[00:28:13] Speaker D: Can you make my one arm smaller.
[00:28:15] Speaker B: So I can get it out of his mouth?
[00:28:17] Speaker E: Not yet.
[00:28:19] Speaker A: Okay, if there's nothing else in your move, Beleg. As you go up and you talk with Kaitoa. Zozo, you're up.
[00:28:26] Speaker B: Zozo has a bit of a flashback to seeing some of her gnome friends get devoured by gnolls.
[00:28:33] Speaker F: So I think she's gonna
light their yurt on fire?
[00:28:35] Speaker B: Yes, Well, I don't want to.
[00:28:41] Speaker F: Light.
[00:28:41] Speaker B: Him on fire without also getting Tellfae.
But I did brew up a grease potion.
[00:28:52] Speaker D: It's been a while since we smelt.
[00:28:54] Speaker A: Barbecue Knoll Grease potion. Okay. And are you where you. Are you launching that?
[00:29:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I think I'm gonna fly right over top and drop it on Johawk.
[00:29:08] Speaker G: Gnolls are cannibals, so a burning gnoll only entices me further.
I smell delicious.
[00:29:17] Speaker D: There's less guilt on us than.
[00:29:22] Speaker A: My.
[00:29:22] Speaker G: Last moments would be biting my own arm.
[00:29:27] Speaker E: You smell so much more delicious than halfling.
[00:29:32] Speaker B: Okay, so I. I toss the. The potion and slick grease covers the ground in a 10 foot square centered on the points.
And it turns into difficult terrain.
Any creature standing in the area must succeed on a dexterity saving throw or fall prone.
[00:29:49] Speaker D: I just picture some slapstick comedy of.
[00:29:51] Speaker B: Him.
[00:29:55] Speaker D: Just like piano music in the background. Black and white silent film.
Just Joe Hawk just trying to get up.
[00:30:04] Speaker A: There is a.
The notorious Purple grease that Zozo has unleashed here. Zozo, where are you throwing where you draw? Where are you flying to and dropping this?
[00:30:18] Speaker B: I think pretty much right on top of the. Right on top of Johawk.
[00:30:23] Speaker A: And what is this like is this a flask that breaks? Is that your method of delivery?
[00:30:28] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:30:30] Speaker A: And what is the. What is the desired effect here? And what's. What's the mechanical outcome?
[00:30:36] Speaker B: So I want to.
Yeah. The mechanical outcome is creates difficult terrain and Joe has to succeed on dexterity saving, throw or fall prone.
So I'm hoping to.
Yeah. Okay.
[00:30:51] Speaker A: And he's probably gonna roll that right away also.
[00:30:55] Speaker D: Tiny, tiny glass cuts
[00:30:58] Speaker B: Here we go.
[00:31:00] Speaker A: How about this? Joehawk, you roll first, and if you in any way fall prone, then we'll see telltale kind of fall out of your grasp maybe and get greasy.
[00:31:08] Speaker G: Dex save.
Yeah, wonderful. I have advantage on Dex saves that I can see.
15.
[00:31:14] Speaker A: 15 did that. What, is he trying to beat your spell casting DC?
[00:31:19] Speaker B: Yeah, that was.
It was my intelligence plus what.
[00:31:23] Speaker A: What do we decide? Is it. Is it 14 or 16?
[00:31:27] Speaker B: I don't have your sheet back. That's a thing.
Was it 10 plus? Plus my intelligence?
[00:31:36] Speaker A: 10 plus 4 is 14. That sounds very familiar.
[00:31:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:41] Speaker A: Okay. So, yeah, unless the grease potion has a DC of its own and you're just going against those, then you don't fall prone, but you are in difficult terrain. Is that correct?
[00:31:51] Speaker B: Yes, that's correct.
[00:31:53] Speaker D: And each turn he's gonna make another save.
[00:31:56] Speaker B: Yeah. A creature that ends the area or enters the area or ends his turn there. Has to.
[00:32:02] Speaker G: Okay, so it's ended.
[00:32:04] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, so direct hit on Johawk and the fleeting Johawk.
[00:32:10] Speaker B: I may have just flavored the halfway.
[00:32:12] Speaker D: Yeah, I was gonna say now she's just.
[00:32:16] Speaker F: She'll go down easier.
[00:32:17] Speaker D: Why don't we toss breadcrumbs on him while we're at it?
[00:32:21] Speaker A: Well, Zozo, you do have probably something left in your. All you've done is used a bit of your movement. You've dropped this. Anything else?
[00:32:30] Speaker B: I think I'll.
I think I'll just load my crossbow.
It reminds me for next turn.
[00:32:36] Speaker D: Reminds me of when Kramer shaves with butter and he's all greased up in the kitchen.
[00:32:46] Speaker A: Grandma Tellfate like, kind of turns. She's all greasy. Her face is nice and fresh, and she just looks absolutely ready to eat.
[00:32:56] Speaker D: Joe accidentally spills some.
[00:32:58] Speaker G: Wait, she looks ready to eat me? That's right.
[00:33:01] Speaker A: Might be a problem.
That was. That was just a dangerous grammatical error there.
[00:33:06] Speaker G: Oh, there's a comma there.
[00:33:07] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:33:07] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:33:09] Speaker A: Stealthy comma. You are up then, Steve, don't worry.
[00:33:13] Speaker B: Next time I'm gonna get you with my Saffron potion.
[00:33:18] Speaker A: Oh, man, you guys are great. Great recipes for back at the. Not the white chains.
[00:33:24] Speaker F: Expensive potion to use.
[00:33:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Maw is inspiration for culinary heroes. Okay, Steve, you are up. And you see Zozo. Now fly up, throw down the flask. There's grease everywhere. She's loading a crossbow bolt. And you are up.
[00:33:42] Speaker G: She's pointing at Kaitoa.
[00:33:43] Speaker F: You're on deck still.
The halfling is still in the clutches of the Gnoll.
[00:33:50] Speaker A: Johawk. Is that the case?
[00:33:52] Speaker G: That is the case. Okay.
[00:33:53] Speaker F: All right.
I am going to throw some daggers at the Gnoll.
Yeah. Not looking to do damage, but looking to see if these battle master maneuvers are gonna work well.
Now that I've gained a level in battle Master, I have legitimate maneuvers. I have a disarming strike that I can use and a couple others as well.
[00:34:16] Speaker D: So does that mean he drops his weapon?
[00:34:19] Speaker F: He drops an object of my choice. If he fails the strength save. Now he is.
He is in a good position because he can probably roll on advantage.
But we can see what happens here.
[00:34:32] Speaker B: But she is very greasy now, so.
[00:34:34] Speaker F: She's all greased off too.
[00:34:37] Speaker B: Kind of cancels out.
[00:34:39] Speaker A: Good point. That. That may. I may throw in a grease modifier.
[00:34:46] Speaker D: Grease death Halfling.
[00:34:49] Speaker F: I do have to ask. Would I be attacking from stealth?
[00:34:53] Speaker A: Could you make a quick stealth roll? I guess. Quick stealth roll.
[00:34:57] Speaker F: That is an 18 plus 11.
[00:35:00] Speaker A: Yes. You had a very stealthy entrance and perhaps you were unremarked.
[00:35:05] Speaker E: Okay, perfect.
[00:35:07] Speaker F: First throw is an 18 plus 7 plus 9 hits.
So that is D4 plus D8.
Okay, well that's 7 plus 5 for 12.
[00:35:26] Speaker G: Have to become 6 divided by 6.
[00:35:29] Speaker F: Yeah. So 6. And then you have to roll on.
[00:35:32] Speaker G: DC15 advantage because I'm raging. Right?
[00:35:36] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:35:37] Speaker G: Ooh, that's an 8 plus my strength saving throw, which is 8. So 16.
[00:35:44] Speaker F: But do you get advantage?
Did you get advantage because of the grease though?
[00:35:48] Speaker A: I think he would get disadvantage because of the grease.
[00:35:52] Speaker G: I'll roll one die again. Disregard the eight since it would even.
[00:35:56] Speaker A: Out and the size of what he's holding does not matter. Yes. This totally qualifies. Okay.
[00:36:00] Speaker G: Ooh, that's a natural four.
That's not making it.
[00:36:04] Speaker A: No, it's not. So in this moment, Steve, your daggers are achieving the effect. Effect. You have separated the Gnoll from the greased up halfling.
[00:36:14] Speaker F: Okay. I. My next throw is at the N.
And that is a 15 plus nine.
[00:36:26] Speaker D: Steve always hits.
It's a guaranteed.
[00:36:31] Speaker F: That is only 15.
That is a four. I'm not. I'm not aiming to do damage to you here. That is four plus five. So nine damage.
[00:36:43] Speaker G: And then.
[00:36:46] Speaker F: You have to do that same strength save.
This is a trip attack.
Now we're also covered in oil.
[00:36:57] Speaker G: So just one die then.
[00:36:59] Speaker A: Okay, so you're. Now you're going to Take him off his feet or trying. Yep. Okay.
[00:37:03] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:37:03] Speaker F: So this, the first one went for the hit the arm and the second one hits him in the ankle.
[00:37:07] Speaker G: This die was a mistake, actually. That's a natural five.
[00:37:12] Speaker A: Yeah. So not even close, but is that with your proficiency?
[00:37:15] Speaker G: It's five plus eight, so that'd be 13.
[00:37:19] Speaker A: What's he trying to beat?
[00:37:21] Speaker G: 15.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: Yeah. So a couple shy. Okay. So you are. You are down on your ass. I think in the grease.
[00:37:29] Speaker F: You are. You are now prone.
[00:37:30] Speaker D: I love how eating a halfling wasn't a mistake. The die was the mistake.
The actions are just.
[00:37:38] Speaker F: No, eating the halfling was awesome.
[00:37:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:40] Speaker G: So I'm prone now, right?
[00:37:42] Speaker F: Yeah, you're from.
[00:37:46] Speaker D: With a halfling in your arms or.
[00:37:48] Speaker A: Besides, the halfling probably has skidded just like 2 to 5ft out of your grasp. But also on the floor.
Very, very hurt. Very bloody, very greasy.
[00:37:59] Speaker D: I love the greased halfling just sliding across like a slow curling rock.
[00:38:07] Speaker E: Just like sliding away.
[00:38:10] Speaker G: Well, I think.
[00:38:12] Speaker F: I think that's it for me.
I will. As a bonus action, I'll throw a hunter's mark on the gnoll.
[00:38:20] Speaker A: Okay. There goes the hunter's mark.
And Kaitoa, you are up. And that is exactly what you see. You know, you see the whole conflagration. You look down to your arm. There is a paralyzed, dire polar bear latched onto you.
[00:38:35] Speaker D: Okay, I'm guessing I can't move my arm right now.
[00:38:39] Speaker A: You can certainly try. Strength check.
[00:38:44] Speaker D: Yeah, I guess I gotta do it.
I get advantage on that. Oh, I will take the 19 plus 6 of 25, actually.
[00:38:55] Speaker A: Not a problem at all. Can you describe how you. You get out of the jaw?
[00:39:01] Speaker D: I just get a little bit.
I. I feel like a little bit of movement in his bite. And so I just do like a massive right hook and I try and like shatter out all his teeth as I bust out of his jaw.
[00:39:19] Speaker A: Oh, a massive hit. And a bunch of polar bear dire polar bear teeth go crashing onto the cold floor.
Who wants a polar bear gummer?
Those would make a really nice token or something for a totem barbarian with the path of the bear.
[00:39:37] Speaker D: Yeah, they're bears. The bear to us are just everywhere.
[00:39:42] Speaker A: More bare accessories.
[00:39:45] Speaker E: Okay, is.
[00:39:46] Speaker D: I guess that was an action.
[00:39:49] Speaker A: We would say. Let's say that that's kind of like the minor skill check part of your action. You have movement, you're free. But getting out of the grapple means you only have 20ft of movement left.
[00:40:00] Speaker D: Okay, but that is my action, though. I can't attack you could attack.
[00:40:04] Speaker A: Yeah. You got. Because you got two attacks.
[00:40:06] Speaker B: Right?
[00:40:06] Speaker D: Well then I'm going to hit this frozen statue right in the head.
I'm gonna try and take off his head. Sees how he's got it perfectly reached out for me.
[00:40:16] Speaker A: You are a headsman.
[00:40:18] Speaker D: I am gonna give him two big whacks with the old Bodog.
[00:40:24] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:40:25] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:40:26] Speaker E: Kaitoa Borden over there.
[00:40:28] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly.
40 wax with a wet noodle.
[00:40:35] Speaker G: Okay.
[00:40:36] Speaker D: First attack is 17.
[00:40:41] Speaker A: That hits meets it beats it.
[00:40:44] Speaker D: So we got our Vodog.
[00:40:48] Speaker C: Oh, that sucked.
[00:40:50] Speaker D: 10 damage.
[00:40:54] Speaker A: With bulldog.
[00:40:55] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:40:56] Speaker D: Yeah. And then he's gotta beat a Thunder damage.
[00:41:02] Speaker A: You know what I'll say He's going to not roll on that one. He will automatically fail it. He's paralyzed.
[00:41:07] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:41:08] Speaker D: And he's gonna take two Thunder damage.
[00:41:10] Speaker A: Okay.
Little zap.
[00:41:12] Speaker D: And then second attack.
I'm gonna go for great weapon mastery on this one.
[00:41:17] Speaker A: Okay. And party. You begin to see Kaitoa wind up for another huge hit. Polar Bear on deck. Telltale on deck. Johawk on deck.
[00:41:29] Speaker D: It's only a 10. 10 to hit.
[00:41:31] Speaker A: That does not hit.
[00:41:33] Speaker F: All right.
[00:41:34] Speaker C: That was worth it.
[00:41:37] Speaker A: Does a paralyzed creature have any disadvantage on somebody hitting it at melee range?
[00:41:45] Speaker G: Yes.
[00:41:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
[00:41:49] Speaker D: Oh, so I get an advantage on that.
[00:41:51] Speaker F: On a paralyzed creature?
[00:41:52] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:41:53] Speaker A: Yeah. Roll again. Roll again. That makes total sense.
[00:41:56] Speaker E: Ah.
[00:41:57] Speaker D: 20.
[00:41:59] Speaker G: It would have been a crit anyways.
[00:42:03] Speaker A: Oh, this is gonna be big damage.
[00:42:05] Speaker G: Maybe.
[00:42:06] Speaker D: Yeah. I'll. I'll need some help with this.
[00:42:08] Speaker C: Just because it's been a while.
[00:42:10] Speaker E: This is.
[00:42:10] Speaker F: Bulldog's a two handed ax, right?
[00:42:12] Speaker D: D12.
[00:42:13] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:42:15] Speaker D: But then my modifiers only get added to one of the dice.
[00:42:18] Speaker A: Double your damage. Dice modifiers only once. And Vodog. Zap. Zap only once.
[00:42:24] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:42:24] Speaker A: Eight.
[00:42:26] Speaker D: Eleven.
[00:42:28] Speaker F: Plus you get. Actually you get another. You get another die because you're at level nine barbarian.
[00:42:33] Speaker C: Right.
[00:42:34] Speaker D: So 19 damage plus great weapon mastery which is 29 damage.
[00:42:39] Speaker F: So you're rolling three D12.
[00:42:41] Speaker A: One more D12 because of the level Tomo?
[00:42:43] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:42:44] Speaker F: Level nine. You roll one additional weapon damage when determining the extra damage on the critical. So he know he now rolls three crit damage.
[00:42:53] Speaker A: One more D12.
[00:42:54] Speaker D: 19 plus.
Oh, what did I just say?
[00:42:58] Speaker A: 29 for the great 29.
[00:43:00] Speaker D: Yeah. Plus another D12 which is another 10. So 39.
[00:43:08] Speaker A: Hot ass.
[00:43:09] Speaker D: Plus plus he's now gonna take another D8 for thunder damage.
[00:43:14] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:43:16] Speaker E: Guys are all impressed. He's swinging an ax at a paralyzed like he's swinging an axe at a stuffed anim.
[00:43:29] Speaker D: 46.
[00:43:30] Speaker A: Yeah. The raw damage. 46 is impressive.
And you guys hear the crunching of.
[00:43:39] Speaker F: He can't even defend himself.
[00:43:41] Speaker A: The splitting of sinew and fat.
Not dead.
[00:43:47] Speaker D: Oh, but his head's off.
[00:43:50] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:43:53] Speaker A: And you find again, these bony protrusions, you know, make this not an average bear.
[00:44:01] Speaker D: It's a construct bear or some.
[00:44:03] Speaker A: That's a dire bear. Oh, polar bear gets to roll a wisdom saving throw. It has actually. It's got a decent wisdom. 14 plus wisdom plus two. So 14 plus two is 16. What was he going against there?
[00:44:18] Speaker E: Fifth Andrew, a 15.
[00:44:22] Speaker A: Is he up?
[00:44:23] Speaker E: He's up.
[00:44:25] Speaker A: Oh, no. That surprised me.
Okay, he's got a pretty decent stat there.
[00:44:32] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:44:33] Speaker B: He's got the same wisdom as I do.
[00:44:35] Speaker A: Int's not great. Charisma not great.
Okay, so he's up. But does that take him any part of his move to get out of that paralyzed condition? Bella goes.
[00:44:47] Speaker E: I don't know. I don't think so. I'm not sure the the actual rules on that. Hmm.
[00:44:54] Speaker A: I feel like he's back in action.
He's no longer paralyzed. Telltales makes her roll and she is going to squirm a little bit, but she's gonna try and stand up and is unable to. So now there's just a lump of telltale greasy on the ground. And Joe Hawk, you are up. She's about maybe 5 or 10ft in front of you. Now. You're in difficult terrain.
[00:45:21] Speaker G: I'm going to spend some of my movement to crawl over to telfate as far as I need to.
I'm just gonna eat yellow.
I just bite once, bite twice.
[00:45:35] Speaker B: Food.
[00:45:36] Speaker G: So the first bite is it 12.
[00:45:42] Speaker A: Roll damage as you maybe catch her ankle.
[00:45:46] Speaker G: Eight damage.
[00:45:47] Speaker A: Oh, yes, there is a tasty ankle now in your range.
[00:45:53] Speaker G: Bite again.
[00:45:54] Speaker F: Sounds like a gnoll with a bone. Jesus.
[00:45:58] Speaker G: Oh, I had disadvantage, so my natural 19 crit was reduced to an 8.
[00:46:05] Speaker A: Oh, that's a shame.
[00:46:06] Speaker G: But it still hits because that's a 16.
[00:46:08] Speaker A: Yeah, it still hits.
[00:46:10] Speaker G: That'll be total damage. Another eight damage. This die really likes the number four.
[00:46:15] Speaker A: I need both legs, you hear her say, as you rip the flesh and sinew and tendons off the back of her calf.
[00:46:29] Speaker G: I'm going to action surge to attack twice again.
[00:46:34] Speaker A: Oh, boy.
Guys, there's a ferocious slavering of Jaws as you're gonna do it all over again.
[00:46:42] Speaker D: Dude, just. You can have it.
Just talk to us and like, if you want it this bad, like I was trying to prevent.
[00:46:52] Speaker G: That's why I said I just need food.
[00:46:54] Speaker C: Just.
[00:46:54] Speaker D: You can have it, man.
[00:46:58] Speaker G: I'm going to.
[00:47:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:47:01] Speaker G: I'm gonna pull out my hammer. I'm gonna reckless and great weapon.
So minus five attack.
[00:47:07] Speaker A: Minus five to hit, plus 10 to damage.
[00:47:09] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:47:10] Speaker A: On.
[00:47:10] Speaker F: Still on disadvantage too.
[00:47:13] Speaker G: So the advantage and disadvantage cancel out. Yeah, I rolled a Natural 17.
[00:47:18] Speaker B: Can you use it while you're prone?
[00:47:20] Speaker A: I was gonna say are you now must be standing up Johawk or you swinging from the ground?
[00:47:26] Speaker G: I just like lay on my shoulder and roll it over to hit. Tellfate.
[00:47:32] Speaker A: It is desperate and bloody and greasy. What did you roll to hit?
[00:47:37] Speaker G: Dirty 20 maul.
[00:47:39] Speaker A: Is it versatile or two handed?
[00:47:41] Speaker G: Two handed.
[00:47:42] Speaker A: Two handed. So roll with the two handed damage.
[00:47:46] Speaker G: Six and a two. But I reroll a two and I got a five.
So 11 plus 10 plus 8 is 29. Oh boy.
And for my second attack, I'm gonna swing it. I'm just gonna swing it back and forth so it hits the ground before going for the second swing.
And that'll be with disadvantage. I'm going to great weapon again.
Another failed crit.
[00:48:14] Speaker A: Oh, wasting those things.
[00:48:17] Speaker G: 13 to hit. But that hits six and a one. Reroll the one and max damage.
[00:48:25] Speaker A: Whoa. Okay, so the first hit 29 and then damage on this one.
[00:48:29] Speaker G: I believe it's 30.
[00:48:31] Speaker A: This is. She's got to be dead Far in excess of what you feel. A halfling of any strike stripes.
Could take a little fortune teller and Johawk.
[00:48:44] Speaker G: I mean, I'll go for the head.
[00:48:50] Speaker D: Don't you want to know what the three cards.
[00:48:58] Speaker A: And fate is?
[00:49:00] Speaker G: No more.
As a bonus action, I can move half my speed and make a bite attack because I dropped something to zero hit points.
[00:49:10] Speaker A: Yes, you reduce it to zero and.
[00:49:12] Speaker G: I'm gonna also spend the rest of my movement to try to get as far as I can to the polar bear.
Since I'm moving half my speed, could I use that to stand up instead of move half my speed?
[00:49:25] Speaker A: Yes, because this has all occurred in zozo's grease patch. So at the moment. Yes. If you finally want to stand up, you would be pretty much done with your movement.
[00:49:36] Speaker G: Okay. And then I'm gonna use the rest of my actual movement instead of my ability movement move to attack the Dire Bear.
[00:49:45] Speaker A: Okay, so you've. You've left the pool of Telltales and - it's actually combining with the grease.
[00:49:53] Speaker G: That's okay. Everyone could use a little grease in their life.
That's where I end my turn.
[00:50:00] Speaker A: Top of the order, rook. The bear is up.
No longer paralyzed or held by Beleg's spell.
[00:50:11] Speaker C: Well, I am actually as a my bonus Action going to do a blood curse of the binding. So as it'll reduce the speed of a creature.
Well, I guess I should ask is this creature one size category larger than me or is it larger than that?
[00:50:31] Speaker A: It is one size larger to one.
[00:50:34] Speaker C: Size larger than me.
[00:50:36] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:50:37] Speaker C: Okay, so then I can do it.
[00:50:39] Speaker A: So it is a large beast and you are a medium beast.
[00:50:42] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:50:42] Speaker C: And so it needs to do a strength saving throw.
And I'm actually going to amplify it. So I gotta roll a D6 for my Crimson right and take damage on that, which is four. So I'm gonna take four damage, but it amplifies it. So the curse becomes ongoing and can affect a creature regardless of their size category. At the end of each turn curse can make another strength saving throw. So on a success it ends.
[00:51:17] Speaker A: Nasty curse. Well, it really. I mean it has a plus six to strength, but it only rolled a six. So total 12. And I assume that is not gonna is are we going against your spell dc?
[00:51:28] Speaker C: It's a dc. Plus my proficiency, plus my wisdom. So it won't work then that'll fly.
[00:51:36] Speaker A: So it failed that.
[00:51:38] Speaker C: Yeah. So you will be.
It slows their speed down to zero until their next turn.
Oh, does it deal any damage that one does not. No, it just. It just binds them so you can't.
[00:51:52] Speaker A: Okay folks, you see the Blood Hunter used this blood curse of the binding. And what does it look like now as you're subduing this. This bear that it's clearly really wanting to do its multi attacks.
[00:52:07] Speaker C: I think he'd be just struggling to try to even move. Probably a bit of a confused look in his eyes as to he thought he was free for a second and then now he's bound back up.
And I'm gonna make my two attacks.
One of them is gonna be my longswords. A13.
[00:52:36] Speaker A: That does not hit.
[00:52:38] Speaker B: Oh man.
[00:52:38] Speaker C: Both these aren't gonna hit because my next one's a good natural one. So I may. I failed on both here.
[00:52:46] Speaker A: Okay, well Rook, you know what I would say is as you come up with your, you know, your dual wielding blades, you do hit this dire bear, but you strike these bony protrusions.
[00:53:00] Speaker C: Yep, that's all I got for my attack. So anyway, use my bonus. So I'm.
[00:53:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:53:10] Speaker A: Mr. Beleg. As your finger comes out, Rook's grasp replaces it. And actually now the creature is again bound in some way. You're up.
[00:53:22] Speaker E: Beleg's pretty fucking pissed that Tellfate just got killed.
[00:53:27] Speaker A: Yeah. You look over to your left, grease and bloodpool.
[00:53:30] Speaker E: Yeah, he's not fucking happy at all.
So what he's gonna do is.
[00:53:38] Speaker B: Hit.
[00:53:38] Speaker E: The bear with two eldritch blasts, right? To push him into into the null and force them to duke it out in the corner.
So that's a 24 and 19.
[00:53:58] Speaker A: Yeah. Both hit.
[00:54:00] Speaker E: All right, deal. 15 damage and push the bear into Johawk with the force that would Normally send him 20ft.
[00:54:15] Speaker A: Okay, I feel like that's bludgeoning damage.
8. Bludgeoning damage from an almost thousand pound dire bear.
[00:54:27] Speaker G: So I took four damage.
[00:54:30] Speaker A: Four? Yeah.
[00:54:32] Speaker E: And then I guess they did I push him back at all.
[00:54:39] Speaker A: The bear is pushed back.
[00:54:42] Speaker E: Sweet.
[00:54:44] Speaker A: Oh, I gotta take my little paralyzed icon off. So paralyzed was Beleg. So now he's held.
How about a little net icon, Brando? What do you think?
[00:54:55] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:54:57] Speaker A: Curse of the Binding Party. Now the bear is in some ways a free target. Cannot attack you. I would say it's kind of butt just bashed into Johawk.
[00:55:10] Speaker G: And did I move with it?
[00:55:13] Speaker A: No, I think the eldritch blast just pushed the bear back into you, Beleg. Anything else in your move? And then we have Zozo on deck.
[00:55:22] Speaker E: I just yell you fucking idiot. At Johawk and prepare myself for the next round of combat.
[00:55:31] Speaker A: Next, Dr. Zozo.
[00:55:34] Speaker B: So I think first let's figure out if Zozo recognized the maul he pulled out.
[00:55:40] Speaker A: Can you roll a your choice of history or intelligence or wisdom?
[00:55:48] Speaker B: Oh, that's a 22 on history.
[00:55:53] Speaker A: Oh boy. You remember.
[00:55:59] Speaker F: Oh no.
[00:56:00] Speaker A: You were going what the fuck is going on?
Zozo. Dr. Zozo, you remember the ambush in Hemlock Valley?
And you remember your compatriot, your colleague in the Merchants Guild? Alchemist Guild little caravan there, Mori, who used to make mauls. And the other weapons cart there. And you certainly have a terrifying realization.
This is one of those weapons.
[00:56:33] Speaker B: Well, she gets angry.
[00:56:38] Speaker D: Oh, she's angry.
[00:56:45] Speaker G: Understandable.
[00:56:47] Speaker A: I just saw that Gif there!
[00:56:53] Speaker A: Okay, Dr. Zozo.
[00:56:55] Speaker F: Oh, it's on.
[00:56:58] Speaker A: You're well within flight speed and all of a sudden. Party. You see Dr. Zozo's visage take on a terrifying demeanor.
[00:57:08] Speaker D: that's awesome.
[00:57:11] Speaker B: She pulls out a flask and dips her her crossbow bolt into it.
And it catches on fire. And she's going to fire it at Johawk.
[00:57:23] Speaker A: It's a fairly easy target. There's large, almost seven foot tall Johawk. There's this huge dire polar bear right beside.
[00:57:32] Speaker F: We're setting this yurt on fire.
[00:57:35] Speaker G: Not that this is any better for me, but I'm 7 foot 5, so I'm an even larger target.
[00:57:41] Speaker F: And covered in oil still.
[00:57:43] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I gotta oiled up.
[00:57:51] Speaker B: Okay, so that is 16 to hit.
[00:57:55] Speaker G: That just makes it hits the null.
[00:57:58] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:57:58] Speaker A: And then roll damage. So this is a crossbow bolt plus arcane fire.
[00:58:03] Speaker B: Yes.
So the crossbow bolt is a D8.
That's three for the bolt and then it'll be two D10 plus four for the fighter.
Whoa.
[00:58:20] Speaker G: I'm ready.
[00:58:23] Speaker B: I'm ready.
[00:58:24] Speaker G: My body is ready.
[00:58:27] Speaker A: That's Tomo's line!
[00:58:32] Speaker B: So that was a total of 16 damage. So eight.
[00:58:39] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:58:39] Speaker D: Halved.
[00:58:41] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:58:41] Speaker G: Not even at half hit points yet.
[00:58:45] Speaker A: Do you have. Does a barbarian's rage. Does that have magical damage or just bludgeoning, piercing, slashing.
[00:58:52] Speaker G: I'm bear totem, so everything but psychic.
[00:58:55] Speaker F: Except psychic.
[00:58:56] Speaker A: Yes, except for psychic. You and the bear then share those attributes. So zozo, absolutely on target. And your. Your purple flame explodes on the knoll. And I'm gonna roll a fateful one.
[00:59:10] Speaker G: D4.
[00:59:11] Speaker A: Does the grease ignite immediately?
[00:59:14] Speaker F: Oh, okay.
[00:59:15] Speaker A: It is a 4.
And we always know the 4 is the highest condition. Joe Hawk, you are made for flame with your furry, furry disposition.
[00:59:28] Speaker D: It's gonna smell really bad in here really quick.
[00:59:31] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:59:32] Speaker E: You're gonna be naked.
[00:59:34] Speaker A: And I would say no damage this round, but I mean, Joe Hawk, you can immediately see your outer layer of fur that was soaked in grease. Especially around your knees and elbows where you were crawling around. You're catching on fire.
[00:59:48] Speaker G: Okay, this is fine.
[00:59:56] Speaker D: I'm not worried.
[00:59:57] Speaker E: I'm not.
I'm not worried.
[00:59:59] Speaker G: Yeah.
[00:59:59] Speaker B: The bond on my character sheet is I've lost every family I've had and won't forgive those that took them from me.
Yeah, this is fine.
[01:00:14] Speaker G: Yeah.
That's a quarter hit point problem.
[01:00:21] Speaker A: You are. Oh, sorry, Steve. And then Kaitoa.
[01:00:25] Speaker F: So is Steve's up?
[01:00:27] Speaker A: Correct.
Now, Steve, you have remained very stealthy. You know, we established you're still at the door to the yurt and you've barely involved yourself other than throwing weapons.
[01:00:43] Speaker F: So I've. I can see that Zozo has fired the crossbow with malicious intent.
[01:00:54] Speaker C: Just.
[01:00:55] Speaker B: Yeah, a couple minutes ago she was advising you. Don't kill him. He's the one who knows.
[01:01:02] Speaker F: Die.
[01:01:06] Speaker E: We'll take a boat.
[01:01:08] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:01:09] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:01:10] Speaker F: Oh, God. Okay, we can still go with plan.
[01:01:14] Speaker B: B with the barrels.
[01:01:15] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly. Kaitoa's barrels and fishing nets.
[01:01:21] Speaker F: Okay, let's do this.
I'm going to attack the gnoll.
And this time I'm going to attack with the notion that I'm going to do damage.
[01:01:38] Speaker G: You've got your hunter's mark on me, right?
[01:01:40] Speaker F: Yes.
[01:01:41] Speaker G: Okay.
[01:01:43] Speaker F: First attack, that's a crit.
[01:01:49] Speaker G: And since I reckless, I think everything has advantage against me.
[01:01:52] Speaker A: So yes.
[01:01:54] Speaker G: Okay.
[01:01:55] Speaker F: Fuck.
21 plus 5. 26 plus 10. 36.
[01:02:02] Speaker A: Is this the first dagger?
[01:02:05] Speaker F: That's the damage from the first dagger.
[01:02:08] Speaker G: 36 have is 18.
[01:02:12] Speaker F: Next attack is a 19 plus.
What is that? Okay.
[01:02:25] Speaker G: All right, I'm worried now.
[01:02:28] Speaker F: 15 damage is a lot.
So.
[01:02:35] Speaker B: Is.
[01:02:38] Speaker F: 22.
[01:02:41] Speaker G: Halved is 11. I'm sitting at 12 hit points.
[01:02:49] Speaker F: And 17 to hit for my offhand.
[01:02:55] Speaker G: Oh yeah, that hits 20. Damage reduced is 10.
Two hit points.
[01:03:07] Speaker A: Oh, boy.
[01:03:09] Speaker D: Next.
[01:03:11] Speaker B: As a player, I don't want you.
[01:03:12] Speaker A: Dead, but.
[01:03:15] Speaker B: Zozo definitely does right now.
[01:03:18] Speaker A: You know, you're obviously dealing a colossal amount of damage with these munitions. Anything else in your move? As certainly you can tell, the null is bloody.
[01:03:30] Speaker F: I don't know what's going on.
[01:03:33] Speaker E: What the is going on?
Oh, man.
[01:03:41] Speaker F: That is.
Let's see.
[01:03:50] Speaker G: What.
[01:03:54] Speaker F: I just saw.
[01:03:55] Speaker E: A ruler measure how far he was away from you and he made him further.
[01:04:03] Speaker A: Steve. Prudent as always.
[01:04:07] Speaker E: Hey, Steve, don't forget about his lunging attack.
[01:04:10] Speaker F: Oh, yeah, no, I. Yeah, I'm just being hopeful.
[01:04:14] Speaker D: But Steve draws an imaginary line on.
[01:04:16] Speaker A: The ground, steps back, just like counts.
[01:04:20] Speaker F: Out on his distance on his hand one.
[01:04:23] Speaker G: Okay.
[01:04:25] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:04:26] Speaker A: So you have left yourself just outside the yurt.
[01:04:30] Speaker F: Yeah, I'm a little bewildered. I don't know what's going on. I do know that I just watched that gnoll like maul the shit out of that little halfling.
Then I saw Zozo's reaction to it and Steve acted. That's what he does.
But no idea what's going on. And there's a giant fucking polar bear in the room.
[01:04:49] Speaker D: I love how everyone just isn't worried about killing the bear now.
Like, we'll get to the bear later.
[01:04:55] Speaker G: I'm worried about killing the bear. I'm the only one that is.
[01:05:01] Speaker D: I've been going after the bear the whole time.
[01:05:03] Speaker A: Well, Kaitoa, you are up. And you will be, you know, very much concerned with the bear in your grill and then very much on deck. Remember, the top of the order is Rook and Beleg. But we're almost near the bottom.
[01:05:19] Speaker E: Why did you just go, Steve?
[01:05:22] Speaker A: It goes Zozo, Steve, Kaitoa, bear dead. Tellfate and Jojo, she's just.
[01:05:32] Speaker F: She's still sliding across.
she's rolling for momentum, just covered in muck and oil.
[01:05:41] Speaker D: Okay, I am going To. Yeah, keep packing at this head. This bear.
Okay, first attack still same neck point. Trying to take his head off.
21.
[01:05:56] Speaker A: That absolutely hits.
[01:05:59] Speaker D: 19 damage.
He's gonna make a go dog thunder save first.
[01:06:04] Speaker A: Oh yeah, quick. Sorry. I always forget whiz or con.
[01:06:07] Speaker D: Con plus 10.
[01:06:10] Speaker A: He passes that. 17 plus 5.
[01:06:12] Speaker C: 5.
[01:06:13] Speaker D: Okay, second attack.
Not so good.
11.
[01:06:19] Speaker A: That does not hit.
[01:06:21] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:06:22] Speaker A: And so your first hit there, the Vodog crackle lightning does not really take.
And your second hit unfortunately it strikes that terrible bony protrusion.
[01:06:37] Speaker D: If I move, I'll get attack of opportunity against me.
[01:06:40] Speaker C: Right.
[01:06:42] Speaker A: The bear is alert.
[01:06:43] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm gonna just move to this side of them so that the bear is between me and old Joey there.
[01:06:56] Speaker A: You're gonna shuffle and shimmy. But stay within the five foot of the bears melee.
[01:07:01] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:07:02] Speaker A: Cool.
[01:07:02] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:07:04] Speaker A: Well the head is one third chopped through. You have dealt a almost unbelievable amount of physical damage to this dire polar bear. But they seem possessed by some sort of unholy fierce spirit. And is there anything else in your move?
[01:07:26] Speaker C: What else can I do?
[01:07:28] Speaker D: Yeah, I think that's all I pretty much can do.
[01:07:32] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:07:33] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:07:33] Speaker A: The dire bear makes three attacks. One with its bite and two with its claws. Kaitoa, you take the claws.
That is going to hit.
[01:07:44] Speaker C: No, no, he's got. He's got a strength or binding.
[01:07:50] Speaker A: Yeah, binding. What did I have to beat Brando?
[01:07:53] Speaker C: 14.
[01:07:55] Speaker A: I could have used that. 15. I just rolled.
[01:07:57] Speaker D: Ah, burnt it.
[01:08:01] Speaker A: That's 16.
Ah, that is a 16.
[01:08:04] Speaker B: Nice try buddy.
[01:08:05] Speaker D: Thank you.
[01:08:06] Speaker A: Okay, but now we're running out of good rolls. Okay, so your binding is now loosening. Is that right, Rook?
[01:08:14] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:08:15] Speaker F: Okay.
[01:08:18] Speaker A: Oh fuck. 91.
[01:08:20] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:08:24] Speaker A: Okay, the next bite attack.
19 plus 9 is 28. Kaitoa, claws. 2D 6 plus 6.
Whoa, that's natty. 6 6. So 12 plus 6 is 18 haft if you're a rage.
[01:08:39] Speaker D: Yep, I'm still rage. So 9 damage.
[01:08:42] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:08:42] Speaker A: Two fierce gigantic claws come out at you. And now as the bear goes to bite you.
Rook, are you in the five foot as well?
I suppose so you slash the guy.
[01:08:57] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:08:58] Speaker A: As he goes to bite you will notice that this dire polar bear is missing a whole bunch of teeth.
You're 11 plus 9 is 20 and the bite deals 1D 8 plus 6 piercing.
[01:09:13] Speaker D: Yummy bear.
[01:09:15] Speaker A: Okay, that is a 6 plus 6. So that's 12 piercing to you, Rook.
[01:09:23] Speaker C: A vicious bite.
[01:09:25] Speaker A: Large or smaller creature, you now are grappled. The bear cannot bite another target. But now it has latched on to you, rook. And it has you around the midriff.
Johawk.
[01:09:37] Speaker B: So lucky.
[01:09:41] Speaker G: Why do you think I would to the back.
[01:09:45] Speaker A: In the blind spot.
So you are grappled, rook.
And the bear concludes his turn. And we're gonna roll for the pool of growing blood. Okay. The diameter of the pool of telltale has increased by 2ft.
[01:10:05] Speaker E: I miss her already.
Beleg regrets not learning to speak to the dead.
[01:10:09] Speaker G: Yes. Or two. I really want to know what those three cards were.
[01:10:13] Speaker D: Yeah.
'You will be killed by your party.'
[01:10:20] Speaker E: With those ominous words
Not for a delicious meal.
[01:10:23] Speaker G: Hashtag not my party anymore.
[01:10:28] Speaker A: Johawk, with those words, you are up.
And I will tell you right away. You have taken two flame damage and the flame is taking around your knees.
[01:10:42] Speaker G: And thighs and you are reduced to one. So I one hit point.
[01:10:48] Speaker F: Oh dear.
[01:10:50] Speaker G: I am one tenacious bastard.
So bonus action to second wind.
So I'm regaining 10 1D10 plus my fighter level.
That was not a good roll though. Seven. So I'm at eight hit points now.
[01:11:10] Speaker A: Okay, and what's one of those second wins? Prolonged rest.
[01:11:13] Speaker E: Yep.
[01:11:14] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:11:14] Speaker G: Or short or long rest.
[01:11:16] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:11:16] Speaker A: Can you describe then how with your gnollish resilience you somehow muster some strength?
[01:11:23] Speaker G: I inwardly tell myself.
[01:11:27] Speaker F: Good enough.
[01:11:28] Speaker G: It's my hunger for food. I didn't actually like eat telltale very much. So I'm hungry for this polar bear. And that hunger is what's driving me.
[01:11:40] Speaker A: This is one thirsty gnoll. And so it is the. It is the hunger driving you from the brink of death.
[01:11:49] Speaker G: Guys, I'm just hungry.
We can talk about this. And I'm gonna swing twice at the bear. Okay?
Reckless on the first one.
That was not the crit I was hoping it to be. But that's still 18.
[01:12:05] Speaker A: Well, you're aiming for 17 on this dire polar bear. So you're connecting with your mole.
[01:12:10] Speaker G: I've been forgetting rage damage this entire time. Oh, is it plus 2?
I'm only level 5. 6 plus 6 is 12.
[01:12:23] Speaker A: 12 damage on probably the hindquarters of this beast.
[01:12:29] Speaker G: Second attack.
Ooh, that's not gonna hit an 18. That's a 16.
[01:12:35] Speaker A: One shy. And your maul cleaves right into the haunches of this polar bear. But you are rebuffed by these awful kind of bony protrusions.
[01:12:49] Speaker G: I am going to step away so it doesn't think to attack me.
And that'll be my turn.
[01:12:57] Speaker A: Okay, you are at the end of the order. And friends and adventurers, gotta take a mid session break.
One less halfling in this world.
And that is where we will have to leave you until the next time on Dungeons and Blagguards.
[01:14:27] Speaker C: Wow.
Just wow.
[01:14:31] Speaker E: He went straight for the face, too, so she kind of looked like Tellchains by the end.
[01:14:36] Speaker A: Oh, interesting callback.
[01:14:38] Speaker E: Interesting commonality there.
[01:14:42] Speaker C: Oh, he just went right at him.
[01:14:45] Speaker E: Hey, I do want his incantation, though. God damn it.
[01:14:51] Speaker F: Yeah, well, I don't know.
That's the way it goes.
Should we kill him? I don't know.
I kind of did the attack with, like, if it happens, it happens kind of thing. It hasn't happened.
We all know how Steve feels about killing shit once he actually gets to it.
[01:15:17] Speaker C: I wondered how Steve was gonna react to seeing him just obliterate tellchains.
[01:15:23] Speaker F: Well, that's how.
I don't think I would have attacked unless.
But because I saw Zozo go for it, I was like, fuck it.
She knows something I don't know.
[01:15:38] Speaker E: Yeah, I am not opposed to making him unconscious. Oh, boy.
[01:15:46] Speaker F: Yeah, I just attacked because I saw Zozo go for it and was like, well, she knows something I don't know. I know zozo.
[01:15:55] Speaker D: All I know is he bit me and I still haven't hit him back yet.
[01:16:03] Speaker G: Don't put your hand in my face then.
[01:16:08] Speaker B: That's true.
[01:16:09] Speaker A: But.
[01:16:12] Speaker D: There was that.
[01:16:13] Speaker F: Why'd you put your hand in my mouth?
That's what happens.
[01:16:17] Speaker D: Don't fight me or the party's gonna attack you.
[01:16:23] Speaker A: Portion control, man. Portion control.
[01:16:31] Speaker F: I followed. I followed Zozo's Q.
Yeah, I wasn't.
[01:16:34] Speaker B: Expecting the maul to come up this soon.
[01:16:39] Speaker G: I bet I could have done two bite attacks and just be done with her.
[01:16:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:16:46] Speaker F: I do love that, like, grease up Scrabble you made to kill her, though. That was.
[01:17:01] Speaker B: This isn't what I was expecting this episode to go, like, so far.
[01:17:07] Speaker E: No, I thought.
[01:17:09] Speaker G: Isn't beleg the Chaotic Evil. I expected him to be on my side.
[01:17:14] Speaker E: I am Chaotic Neutral. Beleg's out for number one.
[01:17:17] Speaker C: I'm Chaotic Evil.
[01:17:20] Speaker G: Okay.
[01:17:21] Speaker C: But I was more worried about Kaitoa and dealing with his bear.
[01:17:26] Speaker D: Yeah, Rook couldn't probably give two shits about eating a halfling.
[01:17:32] Speaker C: I just saw the value and I was like, well, we probably want her around, but he doesn't care about that. She's dead.
[01:17:40] Speaker E: Yeah, Chaotic Neutral means that I wanted her around because she was valuable. And then you took her from me, and you don't seem very valuable anymore.
[01:17:51] Speaker D: Had there been a discussion about I.
[01:17:53] Speaker A: Want to eat her, you think I.
[01:17:56] Speaker G: Could have convinced you? Yeah.
[01:18:00] Speaker E: Come on, man.
[01:18:01] Speaker G: Make a.
[01:18:03] Speaker E: Make a thought diagram a little, like, give us a pros and cons list.
[01:18:11] Speaker D: I would have been like, okay, let's get our intel and then find out.
[01:18:15] Speaker F: All we need from her.
[01:18:18] Speaker B: If we weren't at the.
[01:18:20] Speaker D: It's like a little road snack. I'm down with that, but we just.
[01:18:24] Speaker C: Need a pitch, like on Dragon's Den or Shark Tank.
[01:18:30] Speaker G: I just hope my one hit point plea was enough.
